    I think these would be more interesting if each shooter briefly showed and described his firearm, it's a dimension that's unknown unless you're personally acquainted with the shooter, which most viewers aren't. It's hard to tell as the videos don't have the detail...

      I agree but I was filming while competing so my priority was first to shoot we’ll. Plus there’s 30-60 shooters so that would take a while. But I agree with you

      +Herrdesrings I have a 10/22 and a Savage MK II, both are nice but can't beat the Savage with the Ruger until you spend a few hundred bucks on a barrel and stock.
      Expensive Mach 22lr ammo is key when shooting either rifle.
      I use RWS-50 and Eley Match.
      I have never shot them at 50yards... Only at 109 yards since the range I go to has a berm at 109yards at 218yards and at 328 yards.

      +ZeroBoostBuick With 22's it's all about the ammo. Most of the bolt action guys are shooting Lapua Center X, the Kidd and other semi-auto guys are using SK Standard Plus and others.

    Do not get the course of fire...3,4,5 hits? What's the time?

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  6 років тому +1

      Time depends on the month. Generally you get 45-90 seconds, shorter if we’re shooting it at 25 yards prone, more time if we’re shooting unsupported or further away. When shot as a true Know Your Limits format the idea is that the shots become progressively more challenging so the shooter must recognize when they have reached the limit of how accurately & precisely they can shoot. If you are over confident and you miss, you loose all your points. If you feel you’ve reached your limit you stop and bank your points. The first 6 targets are worth the same # of points each, the 7th is considerably more and 8th is worth far more. As I recall it’s 1 point then 15 PRs for #7 and 25 pts for #8 which is only 1/4”

  • @maddogunleashed1640

    If you shoot then missed do you lose your points of your hits

    • @np22-b2i
      @np22-b2i 3 роки тому

      Yes, the idea is to stop when you're at your limit. If the target does not swing, it's not counted as a hit and you lose all the points you've gained for that stage.

    how many rounds can you put through a 22lr rifle

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  8 років тому +3

      Before burning out the barrel? Unlike centerfire rifles where barrel life can be from as little as 800-1000 round in a very over-bored cartridge like the 6.5 by 284 to 7000-8000 round in a .308 the 22 LR is such low speed and pressure that the barrel literally doesn't wear out. It all depends on the purpose of the rifle and the accuracy you are expecting. Those that are the most concerned with accuracy and barrel life are benchrest shooters and from what I'm seeing at the most anal end of the spectrum some are saying 3500 rounds but most are saying they are running barrels with 50,000+ rounds down them. For the typical person I don't think you'll ever need to replace the barrel.

      +Long Range Shooters of Utah, LLC can you put a new barrel on a cz 452 lux and how many rounds can a cz 452 lux take

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  8 років тому

      Jurie Uys As I mentioned before, you're not going to burn out a 22 barrel. So it should never "go bad". As far as swapping out the barrel, yes you can swap the 452 barrels, the luxe is no different to my knowledge.

      I had a single shot .22 heavy barrel target rifle which had just over 100,000 rounds through it. I practiced with it every day , shooting one box [ 50 rounds ] after work. Aside from needing a periodic good cleaning, it didn't seem to lose any accuracy.@@LongRangeShootersofUtah

    Can someone explain the rules to me? Thank you.

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  6 років тому +6

      The rules are found in the video description. This is a "Know Your Limits" stage designed to test not only marksmanship but also decision making because the shooter can choose to stop at any point and bank their points but if they shoot and miss, they get a zero for the entire stage. Their are 8 targets from 2" down to 1/4". The first 6 targets are worth 10 pts each but the 2nd to last is worth 15 and the very last is worth 25 pts. It can pay off huge if you hit all targets and clear the stage but if you shoot and miss any of the targets you get a zero and you're finished. This forces you to truly "know your limits" and know when to take a shot and when not to risk it. It's by far the best stage they do.

  • @ashleynicely1046
    @ashleynicely1046 6 років тому

    Why is this contest not a shoot until you miss with no disqualification, instead of a zero if you miss? Seems like it would be a better test of marksmanship.

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  6 років тому +3

      This is just one stage of 10 stages in the competition. Many of the stages are shot on paper and don't have a sudden death zero like this one but that is what makes this stage by far the favorite at the match. Regarding a test of marksmanship, I don't know how you could have a better test of marksmanship. The very name of the target style, "know your limits" indicates the purpose of the stage. A marksman needs to know his limits and when he should or shouldn't take a shot. I have to kindly disagree with you on that part.

    You really have people showing up with 10-22's against real rifles? You will literally never win unless you are shooting against poor marksmen. Anyone who brings a semi automatic to a precision competition cant be classified as "best" in my opinion.

    • @artsmith103
      @artsmith103 3 роки тому +1

      The 0.22LR standard velocity they are shooting has so little recoil that with a semi, keeping your eye in the scope and moving to the next target is an apparent advantage to be weighed against any possible bolt advantage. Remember it's timed so could save critical time for the last 2 targets.

    • @np22-b2i
      @np22-b2i 3 роки тому

      A 10-22 with good ammo is as accurate as say a CZ452/455/457 with good ammo. Sure you can get into the world of stupid accurate Anschutz rifles and other custom builds, but out of the box, they're not gonna be very different.

    • @dajhrm
      @dajhrm 3 роки тому +1

      @@np22-b2i no an automatic action is not as accurate as a bolt action, that’s just stupidity, and it is contrary to more than one hundred years of proven and repeatable results. Only an idiot would say something like that.

    • @LongRangeShootersofUtah
      @LongRangeShootersofUtah  7 років тому +7

      Don't take this the wrong way but you're missing the point of the target. It's called a KYL "know your limits" target because if you shoot and miss you lose all your points. If you don't think you can make the next shot then you stop and bank your points. This competition is extremely competitive. If you miss one of these and shot the rest of the match nearly perfect you would likely not make the top 10 or maybe top 5. You have to be very strategic and smart. I took 4th out of 111 shooters for the year having shot 11 of the 12 matches and winning several. This target can be very stressful depending on the distance and how they have us shoot it.
