When you mount an amp upside down that is not designed to be hung upside the heat will try to rise and will pool between the fins and the main board and cause solder joints to let go. If youount it on its side the head ccan still go up just like mounting it right side up!. But i have seen it a couple times now were people that mount there amps come back after having them hang upside downe and the heat as weekend solder joints. Summary amp hanging upside down if not designed to is bad
What are the mounts called? I have an amp mounted the same way in my car (I bought the car like this). One of the hanging supports is broken so right now only three mounts are holding the amp. But I have no idea what those things are called or where to find them
im going to try this cause i have a 1994 excort lx nd a sub box wit 2 12inch subs nd it and a 2000 watt amp but im going to try to have the amp facing up towards the window cause i wouldent have enough room for the amp u hav any suggestions or some advice on weither not i should do it?
I think I want to do this... for me it's not so much about being pretty as much as I don't want to lose any function. Of my trunk, including when folding seats down... so this is a great method!
You can mount amps upside down just fine. If your amps are getting hot enough to melt your solder on the circuit board then you have other bigger problems to sort out. Haha.
I just a question bro do the amp your using are for subs only? On many amp manuals it says to avoid grounding or drilling the amps to the cars chasis due to engine noise . ?
ya but it would b sittin right in the sun in it would burn up cause i live in florida so nd i tured nd the subs around nd i also blocked off 2 of the 4 air holes nd it sounds pretty good im prob just gona mount it into the speaker box thanks for the help tho
if you google image search "male to female standoos" thats what im talking about. i could no find them on home depots website but i did get them from instore print a pic out and show it to some one in the nuts and bolts isle
that whole dont mount your amps upside down thing doesnt make sense to me, amps are made to mount with the bottom mounted to whatever while the fins are in the air (not against something)
My amps are mounted upside down... i removed the bottom plate and mounted them upside down... this way the heat rises OFF the circuit board... I don't think you guys understand how heat is generated in some of these amps.. And where the boards are mounted the heat just rises and just sits there on the top side baking it away...
You say dont mount the amp upsidedown, but if u open the amp (most amps), you actually see the circuit is facing the bottom part af the amp and not facing the heatsink
What was the length of the standoffs you used? I'm not sure weather to order the 1-1/2in or the 2in. Great vid by the way very helpful!. I have an 08 mz3 sedan.
ah ya i tried that but my amp would get way to hot cause for 1 it gets realy hot in my car cause i live in florida nd i would sit right in the sun nd i did turn my subs around sounds good i just blocked off 2 of the 4 bass tubes nd that help so thanks
Lmao this is not an amp rack it just a screw bolted into the top deck you know you can just install the amp up side down with no problem but yea my point is this is not an amp rack 😂😂😂😂
ekim andersom dude as an installer one can always be creative some dynamat and some abs will do the trick it's not impossible I've done so many full sound systems like that and have lasted years still playing with no issues till this day
Dude no air circulation your amplifier going to Hot 🔥 cooking inside out especially mount upside down ahhhhhhhhh 🔥🍌😭🙉🙈🐒💰🔥🙀😿😂🤫🤬 what happened to the car covers!????? ahhhhhhhhh
Could you tell me exactly what those fasteners are that you used to make the stanchions? Or maybe link to home depot's or lowes' product page for it?
Great vid. I was gonna mount my A/B amp on an MDF board on the trunk floor but after watching your video, I'll try your method.
Either do it right or don't do it at all! Nice job! Taking the time to do it right always pays off.

They are couplers. Can be found at home Depot or hard ware store in hardware section
i love the amp rack idea

The amps are not mounted upside down... It's fine
There’s thing called rivenuts
Damn rookies 😂
cool set up man,if you preffer to have things hid and gives it the clean stock look. i preffer to show off the amp specially if they aluminate.
I love this idea!

you always want to ground the amp to the chassis or frame. engine noise comes from bad ground which is not on the chassis or frame
ghostlyrich I think he means mounting the amp to metal in the car which could introduce noise. They said mount it to a board then to metal
get the 2 inch will give breathing room for amp
He has really good ideas.

you don't want to hang anything in the rear deck, it will block the base and cause more rattling
Not if it's mounted right

😆😂🤣😭😆😂🤣😭.. "it looks like THIS".. I thought he was gonna actually show the actual bolt not some shitty 2nd grade drawing lol
wow thats a great method, i never thought about mounting my amps like this.. hmm problem is i run big ass a/b amps :/
Y IZ YO INLINE FUSE LOCATED WITH THE AMPS ON THE REAR DECK? GOOD JOB BUT THE FUSE IS SPOSE TO B CLOSEST TO THE+ BATTERY😳
I have one at the battery and had one at the back. Had a duel fuse set-up because I was very paranoid back in the day lol
@@ghostlyrich I C sometimes being paranoid is a lot safer than being CAUTIOUS😒😳 b safe
Haha I did the same thing for my Lincoln like 10 years ago
Wrong. Modern amps can be installed upside down.
Lol same guy bud i would just mount it on top of the deck
**standoffs
You called it Stealth installed I can still see everything 😕 you installed ahhhhhhhhhhh 😅😅
But why?
Man damn u dnt leave any links or answer any questions
Lmao this is not an amp rack it just a screw bolted into the top deck you know you can just install the amp up side down with no problem but yea my point is this is not an amp rack 😂😂😂😂
+Antonio Andrade Definitely don't want to mount an amp upside down. Can cause overheating and eventual failure.
ekim andersom this is my job dumbass how are you going to tell me lmao

Worked no problems for years before I parted with the car
Should you haven’t already, google Hyezmar’s plans collection, it’s a draft of one great woodworking book full of projects. Have an epic week!
