This was originally written by the Governor of Louisiana. This is how the melody is supposed to go. It's so amazing. It's sort of ironic how many sing this to their children when they are trying to put them to bed. love The Civil Wars
WOW!!! my mom sung this song to me when i was a wee boy... but it was never this deep and creepy... speaks to my soul.. i live in philly, so missing this makes mepunch my own face. i love these guys
This song means the whole world to me, my Grandma is my best friend, my world. I love her. I remember, growing up, we would sing this song over and over together. I will never forget it. And i love the way they sing this, very beautiful. I love that they have extra versus in here, that i don't remember hearing before. I will most deff be showing my Grandma this.
y'all need to listen to them singing Billie Jean. also, their version of this sounds like something you'd sing at the bedside of a very sick loved one. I love the melancholy style of their songs. So gorgeous.
@happysun995 I can't post them in the reply because they won't fit, but I have added them at the end of the description above. Just click on Show More and then scroll to the end. Thanks for watching!
@silendt Have to agree, I think it was Ironic to sing it perkily altogether... It's lyrics mean the world to me, and this version just sums the song up for me, they are bleak as be-damned... I remember hearing the truth about behind blue eyes by the who too, pete townshend wrote the song as an upbeat and happy one, but everyone played it minor, so it stuck...
oh wow... I thought I liked them before, but now I LOVE THEM.
They would totally change the meaning of this song by singing it the way they did. They. Would. Perfect.
I love the way they sing this old song so differently .. really awesome.
It's really amazing what a Minor key can do to transform a song!! THese guys are great!
pure beauty. i could die happy just having this played to me over and over for the rest of my life.
this makes me tear up:( my dad would always sing this to me every night. i feel like hugging him right now!

@flowflix thank you very much :)
I just can't get their songs out of my head. And he sounds ridiculously amazing when he sings low.
This was my alarm clock wake up call for years! Brill ;)
LOVE

Awesome. Singing it in a minor makes the song sound more like a plea. Intense Thank you.
@ThePaleHorseman5 I actually thought of the same thing! Craziness... and you never know, but that would make sense, they're both made of Magik...
I love it!!! It's so beautiful.
i love how they sing love...
You are my minor-key sunshine. Awesome.
wow!
very good! keep it comin'! :-)

@84erica That is an excellent idea! :-)
I like how it's a happy song, but in a minor key. It makes it sound so melancholy.

what most people don't know is that these are the ORIGINAL lyrics.....
@kendras2210 I completely agree
@nonchalantsavant
I noticed it had a more melancholy essence to it.
@mariahrhea93 Same here...
@serafina1 I think we all did a little bit.
In all my dreams, dear
@AmyZeugirdor do a youtube to mp3 :)
Where can I get a download for this beautiful song? WHERE!
This is my moms song to me...
what are the lyrics some parts are hard to understand
does anyone know what key this is in???
At the 2:20 mark... I die.
The girl really reminds me of Christina Perri.
and they guy, johnny depp, of course.
NB4: They could sing the Chinese take out menu and I think I'd still be smitten.
@ILoveBettyWhite24
It was already a good song, they just managed not to ruin it.
i like the part where this is awesome as fuck...
@nonchalantsavant I find it even more ironic that this song was ever perky or slappy... listen to the last verse, it's absolutely depressing.
The irony of this traditionally perky/sappy tune being in a minor key (A minor, thrillerlover) is simply delicious.
3 fuckin dislikes _|_
it wasn't a "happy" song to begin with
@newsgirl132 The song was never a happy song...
