This video was shot in Lawrence County, Tennessee. The church is Mt. Zion Methodist. My mom and her brothers and sisters used to cross the bridge on Sugar Creek to attend school. The bridge has been replaced over the years and the old one room schoolhouse is now Mt. Zion Church of Christ. My great grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins rest in the graveyard there. It is where my beloved Terri and I will be buried. It's the most beautiful place in the world to me.

It’s near the end of 2023 and I’m once again listening to the civil Wars. They were at the top of their profession, what a joy to listen to them once more. Ah well, modern technology has been able to recover what has been produced for the ages.
Absolutely floored by this song the first time I heard it years ago. Still an amazing performance.
First heard it on the Mark and Brian show on KLOS in Los Angeles. Their program was not a music show but they were highly recommended to listen to the song by a listener or a friend. They played it and were totally stunned as was I.

Adele said on her website blog that they are the best live act she has EVER seen after they supported her on her recent US tour. She was so impressed she personally asked them to support her on her UK tour. They are absolutely fantastic and thanks to Adele I have recently purchased their album - superb!

These two can make music so very nearly perfect with little more than their voices and stripped down simple accompaniment when so many others couldn't even dream of producing music of this caliber with full piece bands and every ounce of technology they throw into it. This song floored me the first time I heard it, and I get chills ever time listening to it since. Thank you.

I've said this for very few artist, but this is indeed what music is missing. An excellent bare bones track with amazing vocals. A haunting gem that delivers.

I went to the University of North Alabama and married a girl from Cherokee Alabama, 38 years ago, just down highway 72 from Barton. This music is just to good to stop.

Theres such a Southern Gothic feel to this song. And the video perfectly captures the vibe for the track. It almost creates an unexplained mythology for the band that the viewer is left to interpret. Phenomenal group. Wish they were still together.

Really liking this song and the heavy acoustic sound. Also, not only does he kind of have that Johnny Depp look, he also kind of favors Percy Wetmore (the bad prison guard) off of the Green Mile. If I remember correctly, Percy said "Dead man walking" a few times in the movie. I noticed the coincidence when I first saw this video.

"Organic" is the perfect way to describe their music. Its not some modern perversion of music like you normally hear on the radio.
