Dimebag Darrell's Rarest Solo (Gibson SG) [FULL CLIP]

- Опубліковано 3 тра 2022
- This might be the rarest Dimebag clip ever. I've seen this circling the internet, and thought it would be best to upload the full clip that I was able to find.
I would guess that this is the early to mid 2000s, around the time Damageplan started, judging by the size of Dime's beard, his clothing choice, and the atmosphere and camera quality is similar to that of quite a few Damageplan videos.
If this video gets enough traction, I'll record a video where I learn and play this solo in its entirety.
(downloaded from Instagram from the panterapage)
Gibson is gonna see this video and try to release the limited edition Dimebag signature SG for $10,000.
Yup. F*ckin hilarious man!
Let's be serious, Gibson would price it way higher than 10k 🤣
@@ConceptOfSleep 😆
😁🤣🤣
Hahahaha
He’s so good he got a Gibson to stay in tune after all those bends.
Got locking tuners on it I bet!
not a strat
it's not a strat dude.
I was kinda waiting for any of the huge bends of his to snap off the Gibbon's headstock. That would make my day!
This is such a played out trope
Dude makes it sound as if the SG has a whammy bar.
Picked it up from Zakk no doubt.
Zakk gets so much shit, as if Dime back in the Power Metal era wasn't aware of No More Tears, a guitar sound and style that was as revolutionary & forward thinking as Metallica, probably far better known at the time.
@@rocketpigrecords3719 No More Tears was released after Cowboys, but I'm sure Dime heard No Rest For the Wicked in 1988, which was the first studio album featuring Zakk Wylde. Might even have seen Wylde play with Ozzy.
@@rocketpigrecords3719 Dimebags main inspiration was randy rhoads and Eddie van Halen. zakk wylde doesn't even use a Floyd rose
@Born and raised in manila hey genius, Zakk was on Ozzy's biggest singles back when Pantera still dressed like a buncha fruits & he went by Diamond Darrell.
Yeah, he completely glossed over the logical successor to Randy AND one of the pioneers of modern high gain guitar tones, who was all over MTV and every guitar magazine on the rack.
Because he had no interest in any of that?
Muh whammy bar tho
As a huge Dimebag fan, and owner of a couple SG's, this warms my heart.
I frigging love my SG. Even that shitty Epiphone can sing. And I've never once had the neck drop haters all talk about
I played a really cheap epiphone sg once and that thing could wail like crazy.
@@daniel_naaden I've got an Epi SG from '97 made in Japan according to the serial and it is one of the best playing, best staying in tune guitars I've touched in 30+yrs of playing.
@@flaviuscountry I own 2 of the newer Epiphone 'Inspired By Gibson' series SG, as well as a LP Studio and a 58 Korina V from that same series, those guitars were dirt cheap (except for the Korina V) and they are amazing. Never had that much bang for the buck. Even my brother agrees they are great guitars, he owns like 30 Gibsons and used to despise Epiphone.
Hearing a new solo by dime is like striking gold man. That solo makes me feel like a million bucks!
Just goes to show no matter what axe you put in his hands, whatever came out was pure Dime!
When you think of Dimebag as a member of Down or Crowbar :
He played with such passion and watching him play a guitar without a whammy bar is even more rare! I’m beyond blown away by this
Once again proving that guitar screams, weeps, wails, and more with the touch and here the touch was made in Dimebag inc.
I slept on Dimebag for so long but he really is one of the greatest players of all time
I dont know how to explain what i want to say about that statement
Some people cant get past phil and some cant get past him not ever learning theory. Just raw straight talent perfected
You don’t need theory if you have soul
@@mattygainesville exactly some people get really bothered by it and envy it. Its strange
We are glad you came to your senses sir!
PUMPJACK - HARVEST!!! Respect from Poland!!!
playin through someone elses guitar and rig... still sounds like dime. tone's in the fingers.
There's a video of running on stage with Anthrax for the solo of a song, complete different rig and guitar style, sounded 100% Dimebag. Can't remember the song right now, but it was super impressive.
Your videos are cool
@@benjaminwoodrowmusic6070 you’re missing the point dude
The last time someone ran onstage and Dimebag was involved it didn’t end well
Facts
Also love your videos Kayla
People don't realize how clean his playing was. Throw on distortion at the max and try to sound that clean live
He wanted to use TWO distortion pedals as well! Haha, imagine that!
Very true
His playing wasn't all clean. His live riffs were often a little messy because he was getting into the song like a madman, but then he'd go and play the most technical stuff perfectly and better than the albums
@@SuicidalGrind that's not even abnormal at all LOL since the 70s people have been using 2 distortion stages.
Wait, how the fuck is Alex Jones a shill you weirdo? You're really that nuts where even Alex Jones isn't hard-core enough for you? Lemme guess, you're a big nick Fuentes fan? You don't like that Alex doesn't hate Israel like all you antisemite weirdos? Lol 🤡
That's the best thing that ever happened to gibson
0:54 very blues sounding note.
Fuck. Dimebag sounds so Dimebag even on a SG
Such a pure soul.
Space between the notes is where the soul lives.
As a guitarist with an SG as their current main axe, this is pretty sick!!
let the past be the past and toss the sg my friend, fly with the flying v
SGs are timeless bro!
A good SG is awesome. The shape is great especially if you have one without significant neck dive
SG is literally my least favorite guitar body ever. I’d rather play a hollow body Gretsch or a steinberg lmao
SGs are so comfortable to play and look and sound great!
the tone is in the fingers ladies and gentleman
it's true
Diamond Darrell Dimebag Lance Abbott is Da greatest ever , RIP Legends Abbott brothers , 4real...
Magic. Pure fucking magic. I’m so grateful I got to see Dimebag and Vinnie play live several times in the 90s. The live energy was raw and every time I think about being there, I get chills! Thanks for sharing!! R.I.P. Dime and Vinnie. 🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️❤️
That low bend😱😱😱😱❤️
Proof that tone is in the fingaz 😭❤️
Clueless
Ive never seen this ♡ I LOVE IT
Gibson marketing reps bout to have a field day with this one
Man he was just awesome.
The Best Dude Ever, RIP Dime
What a machine
No one has ever made an SG squeal that hard!!!!
Nice rare footage
I got a blister just watching this
He commanded the guitar. No matter the make.
🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿 Lord DIMEBAG 333!!!!!A prototype from the cosmos. We are so fortunate...just know of him.He could play on any guitar. As The Foo says ..There goes our hero!, watch him as goes" and he rocked the world.!!!🤘🏿😞Rest in Power Lords DIME333 and Vinnie Paul 333.Ill never forget.Getcha pull 🥃🥃🥃 Cheers 🍻🍻
As someone with 3 dime guitars and a SG this is sick!
@Metacashica and Pennytera lose your opinion, a guitars are cool bro, no shame having an sg
@Metacashica and Pennytera A good SG is awesome. I'm not a fan of, say, some Schecter models, but that doesn't mean they suck. People like different models
I've been looking for a dime guitar would you sell one
What makes Dime great? His distinct sound and style. Many bands when you listen to them you automatically say oh thats metalcore thats thrash that's power metal. You hear players like Dime, Santana, Satriani, Yngwie, Marty Friedman, Kirk Hammet,VanHalen, the list goes on. You know its them playing
I couldn't imagine the day Rex & Co had to attend his funeral.
Getcha pull!!
Cool footage of the GOAT
So weird to see dime without an ML shape
I just got a SG guitar not so long ago and it is inspiring to see Dimebag play on one!
I wish the audio was hd. Man that solo sounded so good
This is the most cursed thing I’ve ever seen
TREMENDO! NUNCA VI A DIMEBAG TOCAR UNA SG, LA VERDAD, DEMOLEDOR! SI LA GUITARRA TIENE DIOSES, EL ES UNO. ♥
Just love it..
Man.... i miss this dude!🤘
A TRUE LEGEND!!!
The production model will be 10k. The Custom Shop limited edition model will be 25k with a forged signature from his wife.
It even his rig and it still sounds like Dime
It’s mesmerizing to see how Dime could make any guitar and any equipment sound god tier
Dime playing an SG could quite possibly be the sickest shit I’ve ever seen
Wow, sounds amazing and unique for Dimebag. Such a rocky tone for him. Still smashes it though!
A lot of people probably don't realize Pantera was originally very, very glam. Dime had hair that was super teased, and him and the original singer before Phil wore spandex and all that. Dime was also recruited by Dave Mustaine to join Megadeth before Pantera took off, but declined because Vinnie was not invited to join.
True legend!!!! Dimebag the best shredder bar none!!!! Much luv 2 Dime N Vinny up above!!!!!
There's something called "intonation" and that is where your fingering and hand work matters for the tone. The way you attack the strings, the way you massage the note, the power you use in each of those particular movements. And that is the tone in hand.
But, we can't overestimate things, he would sound very different without distortion. Although, you can still hear and identify a great guitar player even if he plays an acoustic. Which surely would be the case. Dime and Zakk are the two most brutal crushing tones in history.
you never heard the solo at the end of Pantera's Planet Caravan cover? No distortion and still unmistakably Dime.
it's also the audio quality of the recording that mucks it up. but yes, i agree with the first paragraph. that sums up the "tone in the fingers" thing pretty well, I'd say
It's all about the Hands nothing to do with the guitar man, Dime forever!
Wow, never seen this before.
The ML shape is synonymous with his style and playing but honestly the SG suits the fuck out of him.
There’s a clip of him playing a strat or a superstrat and it doesn’t look right on him but I could totally see an alternate reality where he rocks the fuck out of an SG.
Thanks for posting. That's awesome, I dont think I've heard that solo. Cool seeing him play a Gibson. I guess that was with Damageplan. Not sure who was on bass there.🤘👍
it was Pumpjack, actually, before Damageplan was formed I believe
I miss him and Vinnie so much. EVH too!❤☺👍
😢 WE ALL DO
@@bandpassmess ❤🎸☺👍
I miss his musk
Super Authentic dude super heavy the good ol days
I have literally only seen this mfkr with a ukulele and his les Paul and mls lol never would I thought I would see the man with a sg😂
He’s either jamming with Pumpjack here, or this is their side project Gasoline
That was my thoughts too. Looked like singer from Pumpjack at his side.
The video I found this from was from the "Harvest" music video by Pumpjack, yes. There's actually a few recordings of this song live on the internet that I had found, but this is the only video I could find.
Definitely one of the rarest dimebag videos, I’ve seen him on a Stratocaster but not a SG
Are you from the D/FW area? If so I can tell you exactly where you seen him playing the Stratocaster & what color it was
@@clayrush71 Nope, just saw a video of him playing a black strat a few years back in a bar. Must of been 01-03 with one of his other bands like gasoline in between Pantera & DamagePlan
@Kinan’s Channel I am from Ft Worth & we use to go watch them every Fri & Sat night at Joe's Garage on hwy 80/820 for $5
It was the in between times of Power Metal/ Cowboys From Hell days & pretty much a free for all & way before the days of being untouchable, in fact my buddy Clint Wallace would headbutt Dime every time they walked past each other, they actually just sat around shooting the shit with everyone. Anyways about the Black Stratocaster, usually the show would start out with the loudest airport runway anti-bird devices that were ridiculously loud & immediately do Cowboys From Hell. Second song Dime would give his guitar to Phil & Dime would take the microphone singing Whiplash & then this black dude came from backstage jamming on a black/white Stratocaster for about 30 seconds or so & I'll be damned if I can remember what fucking song they did.... damn it! I'm sure I'll remember it a week from now white I'm taking a shit or something lol
Anyways that's why I asked about the D/FW area
Just goes to show you the tone is in his fingers
Looks like you didn’t pay attention in physics class
Why wouldn't it sound like him...its him playing 🙄
You obviously know FA about guitar playing.
you'lle always sound like you. But offcourse you'lle sound better on certain products. a 15$ flee market guitar won't sound as great as a top of the bill jackson or something.
Maybe it’s also a hum bucking guitar or the amplifier.
Just saying
Thats how ya wing a solo
Dime bag was channeling frank Marino tone and all on this lead ! RIP Darrell 🙏
Best tone in metal no matter the guitar
Lol
Don’t think I ever seen Dime play a SG before!!! Don’t fit him what so ever!!! RIP GOAT!!!
If this video gets enough traction, I'll record a video where I learn and play this solo in its entirety.
Edit: I'm still trying to find out how to upscale this video. If I can, I might take this down and repost it. But the audio itself is alright for the most part so I might just use this for a source if I'm going to learn it
And make a lesson video on how to play it as well
@@lhauntedlhouse of course!
@@daniel_naaden ❤️
Hey Daniel dude, I’d love to hear it! This solo is one of my absolute fav right beside 10’s! Didn’t see it in the comments or description anywhere but this song is ‘Harvest’ by Pumpjack. They only have 2 albums from what i’ve seen but they’re killer. I’m pretty sure DAC mentions them in the rebel meets rebel tune ‘N.Y.C. Streets’. Listen to the music duuude
@@ryanroberts0167 thank you, Ryan! that information helps a lot, I'll take a listen!
Dime looks good with an SG
At about 0:49 Dime played a similar lick as of on the Krank Amplifier vid 👑🎸
true!
Angus Darrell
How AMAZING was Dimebag!?!🤘
pretty damn great
Badass rock in power Dime. CFHFL STRONGER THAN ALL GETCHA PULL
A Gibson has a secret built inside of them that instantly boosts your guitar playing skills to an 8/10 minimum when you bend a note on it.
interesting
I mean Angus young plays a SG so that's why I use them as my main guitars.
He doesn’t seem quite at home on that guitar! Cool find
it's definitely different
Espero que exista vida após a morte. Uma mente com essa capacidade e talento não pode simplesmente se dissipar no universo.
Awsome
So AWSOME but l love the dean he is still a god
Read the description. This is before Pantera broke up. He doesn't have the bls tattoo on his arm.
when you have got the tone in own fingers
There's something special about my gibson sg standard where once I pick it up I can't put it back down.
Angus-bag Darrell….💫✨
sgs are cool
Since EVH only a handful have been able to find next level playing. Vai..Rhodes Zak...but especially Dime..and u have to consider his band and their impact too.
“next level playing”? 😂 You’re forgetting a shitload of great players.
I have a cliff about 10 minutes of me and Darrell jammin live on stage that nobody has ever seen and so that makes it the rarest clip
That gibson has been bendecida by Darrel
Darrel Iomi 👍😁
This proves Dime could have put strings on a tree brach and made it sound amazing. Cannot believe there is a video with him playing that overrated piece of firewood.
The king 👑
Dime! Great effin footage...a juicy slice of the matrix here! Does anyone know what song is being played? Was he just sitting in and playing someone's guitar? How the hell does this even happen? Lol 😆 freaking legendary!
This is him playing live with the band Pumpjack. The song is Harvest. It's on UA-cam. Dime and Pumpjack were good buds and he played with them alot. He and the lead singer, Thurber T. Mingus were real close. They had a side project called Gasoline, which is also on youtube
Dimebag with something else than a razorback... thats interesting
Probably the only time dimebag doesn't use his Floyd rose
Great video man, can't be Damageplan because you can clearly see Rex on bass in this video and Dime looks too healthy, I'm guessing it's probably around 1999 and they are probably jamming at a club or bar in Texas Dime would do that all the time and I'm sure Rex would have been there sometimes.
It footage of him playing with the band Pumpjack
damnnnn
It's weird seeing Dimebag play anything that's not a Dean
Dimebag was endorsed by Washburn for 10 years. He just signed a deal with Dean literally weeks before his death. He never got to play any of the Dean Guitars he ordered from the company. The only Dean's he had were either won in competitions, bought or given to him. From what I believe from interviews and articles about Dime, he didn't have ANY endorsed signature Dean Guitars.
@@philtrevis Yeah, but he talked about Dime playing Dean (Flying model, in particular), not about being endorsed
Wow
