" The enemy is poverty, and the wall keeps out the enemy and we build the wall to keep us free that's why we build the wall we build the wall to keep us free" *from the musical: Hades Town*
Unrelated, but it just occurred to me that that Bran quote about the bones littering the cave, entwined with the weirwood roots, is probably describing all the previous greenseers hooked up to the weirwood net in that cave. Which means that the children sometimes used giants as greenseers, which is neat. But it also sounds like he specifically says there were a dozen human skulls, which would suggest that only the last dozen big greenseers have been humans. That gives us a rough timeline of twelve weirwood-lengthened human lifetimes--say 500-1000 years--since humans started filling this role.
Nice cadence, great voice, awesome investigation and a quite nice video. Keep rhe good work, let's hope your channel keeps growing bigger and bigger. You got one more subscriber here
The Wall is impractically tall. Two, four, eight, twelve, twenty times as tall as it needs to be to stop ladders and siege engines and giants. So tall that ordinary ice would melt under the weight of it. So tall I put the book down and waited a couple years before I was ready to suspend my disbelief and start reading the series. And there's no towers, crenelations, machicolations, or other defensive structures, except for portcullises and murder holes in the tunnels. Not that the top is close enough to the ground for crenelations to be much use anyway, but if the height is for a good view, there was no need to make the whole thing that tall. I was thinking that perhaps the Wall grew to that height naturally and magically, rather than block-by-block at steep effort and expense. If it is a magically warded barrier at the bottom, and possibly above it too, maybe Silverwing isn't the only thing that won't pass. Perhaps if air or water stops at the barrier, the Wall would grow by precipitation and deposition, with snow and frost piling up and condensing into ice with freeze-thaw cycles and pressure from more snow above. That is consistent with the Builders always adding more gravel to the top, rather than having to sweep off the excess loose rock if the Wall was slowly melting like a glacier out from under them. But it isn't consistent with Jon noting misaligned blocks while watching the wildling climbers, and never noting a difference between the opposite faces of the Wall. My other theory is that whatever is inside the Wall needed to be completely covered . . . and was like 700 ft tall. That's a stretch, even if there are lost "true" giants that dwarf the mammoth-riding tallbois. We're talking TEN TIMES the height of the Colossal Titan in Attack on Titan. Dudes could crush Castle Black like it was made of Lego. OMG What if there's Giant Others chilling in the Wall 79-Sentinels-style?
Enjoyed the video! Only complaint I have is that there is a quiet but noticeable static noise. Not sure if its your microphone, but thought I'd let you know. Other than that, great video, subscribed!
Water magics-the Rhoynar peeps could make walls of water. the 'assistance' was forced. Ygritte tells Jon how the Wall is really made-just like Astapor, but with water.

That’s a great catch!
The Giants probably were also used as Warrior mind vessels, the same way Bran uses Hodor.
Doran built it, all a part of his plan

That would be objectively terrifying
Imagine if GRRM thought of the rumbling like 30 years ago and just got beaten to the punch by Isayama. LMAO
Great insight!
Thank you!!
Makes far too much sense! Great vid
Thank you!!
Algormancy!
Company of the Cat thinks the Horn raises and lowers the Wall rather than destroying it.

Thank you! Still getting used to the new mic 😅 it should hopefully be better for the next one
Interesting theory. Do you see any connection between the magic used to Build the Wall and that used to Break the Arm?
Absolutely! And the Hammer of the Waters
@@MeeraReads I meant that! Would make an interesting follow-up video.
The Children did the Arm and the Hammer. Omg. Omg I just caught that. Did GRRM include that joke on purpose???
Were any of the giants green?
so many brand name puns, oh no!@@MeeraReads

See: Michael Talks About Stuff.. UA-cam. He has great content covering your question- there ARE “”giants” w/in the wall..
Yeah, we’ve talked. Once we get the schedules to line up we’re planning to do an episode together
@@MeeraReads right on!
