      Hi Steve
      Apologies for the late reply! My advice is to stay on top of the work, make sure your folders are organised and you tab your books and materials as you go. Utilise legacy notes alongside the course materials. I did a whole video on how I got a distinction on the LPC in my first year (part time), and having followed the same pattern in second year and finishing with a distinction, I can safely say that everything I advised in the video worked for me, so def check that out!

    Congratulations!!! I hope you don't mind me asking but how have you found doing the course alongside work? I am currently doing the LPC full time but I've been asked to start my TC early in September but I don't finish the LPC until mid-October. As a result, I'm planning on doing both full-time for 6 weeks (though only 2 weeks are workshops, the rest are revision and exams) and though I know it's going to be stressful, it's going to mean I can qualify a year earlier which is great! Do you have any tips for balancing both work and the LPC?

    • @Camillatalks
      @Camillatalks  Рік тому +1

      The truth is you won't have much of a life outside work or studying - if you're ok with that then I think it is doable. However, the job I did whilst doing the LPC part time was not in the legal sector and was not the sort of job where I would need to work late, whereas a training contract would likely be more intense. I woke up at 5am to study before work (I worked from home so I was able to get a good few hours in before work), attended classes after work two days a week, and studied either one or two days after work on Monday/Wednesday evenings. I usually gave myself Friday night off, but Saturday and Sunday were also taken up by reading. I think its possible to do it for sure - will your firm give you time off for studying for exams?

    Hello Camilla, congratulations. This is really amazing. I completed my Law degree in 2016 and would like to pursue the LPC program. Could you kindly advise me on what route to take… SQE or LPC

    • @Camillatalks
      @Camillatalks  Рік тому

      I can't really advise because it depends on so many different factors. Check out a podcast we recorded on the SQE: podfollow.com/the-student-lawyer-podcast/episode/07961bc7e935277b059115d71feec4ef8f1ab6cc/view

    Congrats on the results! Where do you find past papers? I only see one specimen paper on elite for uni of law. And would you recommend revising with lpc notes or workshop notes when it comes to exams because there's literally so much information?

    • @Camillatalks
      @Camillatalks  Рік тому

      Hi Romeo. It's usually just the specimen exams or the workshop tasks I completed as revision. I did manage to find a few past papers for one or two modules on ebay, but they were very old and I wasn't able to find them for most of the modules. I tend to use LPC notes to answer the workshop tasks, and then compare to the workshop notes I took. The aim is to become as fast as possible answering questions using your condensed notes, but the workshop notes are important to develop your understanding and knowledge in the first place.

    This is late as I've now found your channel.
    Personally I find PCR revision questions quite hard...is the exam similar to the synap practice questions we get?

    • @Camillatalks
      @Camillatalks  Рік тому +1

      Hi Maria
      I personally found the real PCR test harder than synap.
      Synap was pretty much my main revision tool for revising for the PCR exam. It got to the point where I was getting all the questions right on the Synap practice platform simply because I did the questions over and over and over again - so I felt confident going into the exam. But the real exam was much harder and I felt that perhaps I should have revised using other materials as well, such as the workbook etc.
      I had to look up the answer to pretty much every question in the textbook which worried me a lot. That being said, I did get 97% in the exam which was a complete shock but I must have been doing something right I guess.
      Based on my experience I would say the best way to approach revision is:
      1. Keep repeating the Synap questions.
      2. Tab your textbook well so you can look things up quickly in the exam
      3. Complete all of the workbook tasks and any revision booklet tasks.
      Best of luck!
      Camilla :)

    Hi Camilla, congratulations on your results :) I also study at the university of law. I am going through specimen papers in preparation for my CPA exams this month and I am really struggling with time management. Do you have any tips on time management? How much time did you spend on each question?

    • @Camillatalks
      @Camillatalks  Рік тому

      Hi Tamara
      Apologies for the late response. I will be honest and say that I also struggled for time with the specimen exams. However, for the real exam I was much stricter with my time and divided the number of minutes available by the points for each question and tried to stick to that as closely as possible! I did go over my time allowance on some questions but I was usually able to make up time in other areas. Be very concise, there is no time for waffle! And bullet point answers if you are running out of time! Sorry if this answer is too late for your CPAs xx

      @@Camillatalks Hey camilla, thanks for your reply. xx I sent a reply but its been deleted for some reason. Basically, I still have some exams to sit and wanted to ask you what techniques you used in the exam to get a distinction. I have been doing everything I can to obtain very high marks in the written assessments but keep getting a high commendation. Would you say the key to obtaining really high marks is using the stating the law/apply the facts approach?
      So for example, which of the following sentences would be a distinction level or better answer when discussing who should call a General meeting?
      1. The board of directors (Sarah and Sophie) will have the power to call a general meeting by passing a board resolution (s. 302 CA 2006 and Browne La Trinidad). ---> I tend to write like this to make sure I can write my answers quicker but not sure if this is the correct approach.
      OR
      2. Under s. 302 CA 2006, directors of a company may call a general meeting. Sarah and Sophie are directors of the company, therefore any one of them can call a general meeting OR/ Under s.302 CA 2006, directors of a company may call a general meeting. Sarah and Sophie are directors of the company and have called a general meeting in accordance with s.302.
