i appreciate you so much right now, i just got a used rustler 4x4 and im taking it all apart and cleaning everything while watching your videos to make sure i disassemble everything correctly
I'm new to the RC world (just a week in) Great step by step videos! I have the rustler 4x4 vxl and I have been upgrading and still waiting for more packages from Amazon 😁
You should definitely have mentioned that when you install those aluminum rear hubs it increases the toe in. If you put the left on the right and right on the left it decreases the amount of toe in. I installed those same aluminum rear hubs and thought something was wrong because the toe in was more prominent than out of the box
Good vid. Aluminum in the right places solves a lot of problems. Aluminum castor blocks on the 2wd Rustler was a huge improvement in keeping my kingpins straight. Will likely do similar upgrades on the 4x4 as I break them.
i have the same type of shocks on mine but i snapped the front right piston shaft at the threads because of an extension cord in my yard. and i have broken all fore drive shafts because of how much torque the car has and replaced them with steel shafts, and now they are very strong.
I’m definitely getting those shocks. I just crashed today and the bottom cap part fell off and I can’t find it anywhere. I like how those ones have a screw.
Hey, great videos on Rustler. Just got mine! Did I miss where you demonstrate setting up the ride height? At 11:50 you mentioned youd show us! Would love to see that! Thanks!
Tip to anyone filling shocks with oil: Don't hold it in front of your eyes while you're bleeding it, I did that and I pushed too hard on the shaft and it squirted into my eye (that's what she said I know lol) and the oil stayed into my eye for like 2 days!
I think Id get the white parts n Rit dye them to which ever color, a color thats not available like yellow, pink, ect. The GTR shocks still have plastic n cost more then the big bores which have aluminum caps, body n comes with springs, so imo thats the way to go, specially if its just for a basher
That's a good idea to dye the white. Just make sure it matches. The GTRs are considered an upgrade over the big bores. The big bores are just aluminum versions of the cheap skinny ultra shocks. The GTRs are mostly aluminum and cost more because they are higher quality and actually bigger. They don't need shock spacers either. I personally haven't seen anyone have issues with the caps. An aluminum option would be nice to see though.
I've seen aluminum suspension arms by accessory manufacturers. They make for very attractive jewelry. I suspect that is the kind of component that could/would transmit 100% of an impact to the next 'link' in the energy absorption chain.
I had my rustler for about 2 months and I’m doing pretty much exactly what you did. One thing i don’t like are the front springs for the GTR shocks. I feel they are short. I had to screw/compress them down almost 3/4 of the way to make them not feel loose. Felt the front end kinda sagged if I didn’t do that. Maybe I did something wrong? Same hole location as stock.
your shock setup shows some rebound, is it ok or you should have removed the rebound so when you compress the piston it doesn't come off automatically? Thanks for the help
I know you've been doing this for a long time while I think so but for a rustler VXL four by four it is best to use the GTR shock then the Big Bore Big Bore is used for the two wheel drive
I don’t see the link to the part numbers you used below as stated. Also, which lactate/thread lock is the best to use? Lactate makes a number of different types.
Nice video m8, but i dide catch that you need to set the right hight after the wheels and battery is in, what do you mean by that, sorry for if it is a dum question.
Quick question, I installed my caster blocks but I feel like it messed with how sharp I can turn. Is that normal? did I tighten bolts to much? should I grease them?
Traxxas only lists the Rustler under compatibility on their website. It is a new arm design. I did talk to Traxxas about the new arm and it's a softer plastic and should be more durable year round. Good for colder temps when parts become more brittle.
My arms I didn’t know about these and went to the RPM ones. I put stock ones off the Rustler on the stampede being I had a set laying around. I’m just wondering about how soft the RPMs in hot weather. They haven’t broken but the axels go quickly I’ve found up front.
I dont think wd40 is alright to use but there are plenty of different oils that you can use that arent traxxas. You can find some on the rustler forums
Great video as usual. Question for you what manufacturer of hand tools do you use? I have been looking to find good ones that last don't break or strip out the heads on screws. Thanks for your insight on this.
FYI - When it comes to plastic, nylon, or composite white is the worst color for durability. What has to be done to clear all color causes the item to be more brittle than other colored items.
C'mon Greg. The Rusty 4x4 already looks awesome. You are making it more awesomer.
Sometimes I just have to do these things. LOL
@@rcdriver I know. It's an addiction. I have it too.
i appreciate you so much right now, i just got a used rustler 4x4 and im taking it all apart and cleaning everything while watching your videos to make sure i disassemble everything correctly
Thanks bro, just installed the GTR shocks and Sledgehammer wheels & tires. Love the look already...
I just put the sledgehammer tires and wheels also. I am waiting for my GTR shocks in steel driveshafts to come in this week.
Learned my lesson quick upgrades causes other parts to break fairly quickly
At first I thought the white suspension arm would look stupid once you put it with the blue aluminum it looked great
You always do a great explaining everything and showing what you are doing. Hats off to you for having a great rc channel.👏👏👏
Great start. Useful info. It's just the right amount of aluminum. Too much isn't good for a basher.
Awesome new serie man can't wait to see the build completed 👍
Me too! lol
Awesome!!! So excited for this series!
Thanks for watching!
I like the alooominum hubs & the retaining screw on the shock mount is a nice touch.
I'm new to the RC world (just a week in) Great step by step videos! I have the rustler 4x4 vxl and I have been upgrading and still waiting for more packages from Amazon 😁
I might be late but stay away from hobby park parts,There junk. I learned the hard way

Great vid looking forward to the next installment!

Can someone recommend shocks if I want to increase the ground clearance slightly?
I’m definitely getting those shocks. I just crashed today and the bottom cap part fell off and I can’t find it anywhere. I like how those ones have a screw.
Here I am bro. After 2 times, the first I found it, the second I lost it, I decided to go GTR
Hey, great videos on Rustler. Just got mine! Did I miss where you demonstrate setting up the ride height? At 11:50 you mentioned youd show us! Would love to see that! Thanks!
Yes, I would appreciate seeing that also.
Nice vid. Wasn't sure about the white arms but i like it, it really pops.
Yeah, in the package, it's like... interesting. Then when they're on, they look great!
Great video brother Greg! Looks amazing with the new upgrades. Those GTR shocks are the business!
Tip to anyone filling shocks with oil: Don't hold it in front of your eyes while you're bleeding it, I did that and I pushed too hard on the shaft and it squirted into my eye (that's what she said I know lol) and the oil stayed into my eye for like 2 days!
I’ve done that
That is indeed what she said
Lmao nice 👍try brake clean 😂
Awesome upgrade! Nice! Love the car and the video like always!
Big help. Thank you for the great video
I’m gonna do my steering blocks and spindle blue and my a arms green it’s gonna look clean
Just added the aluminum hubs and carriers to mine last week...
Cool! Pretty easy task right?
@@rcdriver Very, I even posted a video .
The body rubs with the GTR shocks.
I used the Revo Variable Damping Kit for my GTR shocks. They’re set for faster rebound, and stiff compression.
I think Id get the white parts n Rit dye them to which ever color, a color thats not available like yellow, pink, ect. The GTR shocks still have plastic n cost more then the big bores which have aluminum caps, body n comes with springs, so imo thats the way to go, specially if its just for a basher

You should try vg racing springs for the gtr shocks. They are much better than the traxxas springs
Right side divers side buddy great video tho I allways watch your video so I no what parts to get

Just bought my first rc, a Rustler 4x4 VXL also. Definitely going to sub and follow the vids!
4x4 rusty is great! i have 2wd and 4x4.. 4x4 is the most impressive!
I had my rustler for about 2 months and I’m doing pretty much exactly what you did. One thing i don’t like are the front springs for the GTR shocks. I feel they are short. I read some ppl are using the same shock in the rear for the front. Anyone heard of this?
You did a great job my friend~!!👍👍👍
Thank you!
Great vid. Can you tell me how you set the suspension? As in which holes you mount Into
Thos white are are sick good vid
Bellissimi i tuoi cacciaviti complimenti per il canale Italia 😎

You can put them on both. He is using the shocks in the video
Those Traxxas Dyeable white control arms Mmm 🥵🤤

Did you notice that when you put the rear axle carriers on that it turns the rear tires in considerably? Why is that and how can we fix it?
Can't wait for more of these videos!
Hey, love your videos. Can you explain how do you ride height? Thank you
Will the proline pro-trac suspension for the Slash 4x4 work on the Rustler 4x4? I've got 2 complete sets in my parts bin.
What is the actual part for the shocks please would like to get them thank you
Luv it all. great info of how2 But we never saw the body W/ Da bling up grades !! Or how it rides B4 & after?
awesome ...cool new build ...Thank u
Nice video m8, but i dide catch that you need to set the right hight after the wheels and battery is in, what do you mean by that, sorry for if it is a dum question.
I’m installing Xo-1 axle carriers on my rustler and would like to find the part number for those e-clip pins. Could you tell me where I can ge them.
I love this UA-camr
Love this series!!
Thanks!
Thank you
Is that called a hub or a spindle? I just bought a rustler a month ago and have been upgrading.
Did the shock oil that came with the shocks work out. Did you have to change weights?
I just got the new upgrade a arms an steering but the screw from a arm to steering does not fit
Nice video. A question: every gtr shock I see don't have the retainer with the screw in the lower spring bracket. How come that possibile?
Great job. Thank you!!👍
I thought the shock rod on rc's should not push back out ? Which means there is air trapped in cylinder I see yours comes out very quickly???
Would love to see more arrma granite blx videos like this?
Useful video thanks
Great video!
Thanks very informative video it’s looking good
Thanks for watching!
This build will be great!!
Thanks!
What power driver do you use? Makita?
I wanted to know the same thing!!
Awesome video if you can go into even more detail would be awesome thank you so much for your time
I need help. Every time i hit a jump i bottom out. How do i increase the ground clearance?
Same
Great video, thanks! How are the aluminum parts working out? Thinking about upgrading as well, any long time experiences?
How do you make the aluminum wheel hubs not keep sliding off?
Which shock part numbers goes on the front?
Will this work on my Traxxas rustler 4x4? It looks just like this but I don’t think mine is a VXL
How much difference do you notice from the old shocks to the new shocks?!??
hi can you tell me what size the springs are? or some link for it?
Quick question, I installed my caster blocks but I feel like it messed with how sharp I can turn. Is that normal? did I tighten bolts to much? should I grease them?
great work. thank you
Hello. Is there a case for rustler vxl 2019 to run out of stock and I can't buy it in a few months?
How about axel upgrades
Did you edit the stripped factory screws?
Are slash and rustler 4x4 the same suspension parts?
Aluminum bends...use rpm parts for durability
Those a arms look weird, the shocks are great though
Do those shocks work on an xl5?
Looks more wide, is t or not?
just broke my rustler 4x4 vxl's shocks. what should i do? fully replace them?
Fully replace & upgrade to big bore shocks
@@bentipton1826 I did that lol, this was a while ago
Do the white arms fit the stampede? What’s the best steel axels to use as well? I’m on the second set on the Rustler 4x4 and one on my Stampede.
Traxxas only lists the Rustler under compatibility on their website. It is a new arm design. I did talk to Traxxas about the new arm and it's a softer plastic and should be more durable year round. Good for colder temps when parts become more brittle.
Loving your videos by the way.

I have MIP axles all the way around on mine. And I love them
How I order all the upgrades
Dose your body pop off on the rustler 4x4
I popped off my shock cap and all the oil inside my slash went all over the car. Do I have to refill it with the traxxas oil or can I do WD40?
I dont think wd40 is alright to use but there are plenty of different oils that you can use that arent traxxas. You can find some on the rustler forums
Please put other upgrade parts on that other than traxxas
Can I have the old parts I have one and my arms are breaking they have cracks
I wonder how it do. On the track
Are the white arms dyeable
Should be.
Great video as usual. Question for you what manufacturer of hand tools do you use? I have been looking to find good ones that last don't break or strip out the heads on screws. Thanks for your insight on this.

well done @RCDriver_Online
I feel like mailing you this car with a bunch of upgrades for you to install. I'll pay you
FC's The Meme Look up rc_motorsports_ on Instagram. He does exactly what you’re looking for. I highly recommend him.
@@rcdriver I don't know the last thing I want is to send 600 dollars worth of stuff to a complete stranger
U should have not aluminum hex nuts for the tires rather than plastic
Watch the full video series 😀

Put a lift kit that will be cool
Don't fall for the cold weather bullshit on the arms they still break easily. Get RPM
