8 Things I Really Like About My Jaguar XJR [DRAGUAR]

- I've had this 2006 Jaguar XJ R for a little over 2 years and there's lots to like about it. Here are some things I really like about the car. I have nicknamed the car DRAGUAR after the popular Roadkill car.
1) Styling - I get lots of compliments on the car and it appeals to me
2) Aluminum body - will not rust, it will outlast any steel car
3) Quiet interior - this car is so quiet inside
4) Build quality & craftsmanship - the quality and care put into creating this car is obvious
5) Air suspension - this gives the car an awesome ride on the highway
6) Front park sensors - it's kind of a big car so it's very nice to have front parking aid sensors
7) Stereo - the car has a 12 speaker Alpine audio system with subwoofers from the factory. It sounds really great
8) V8 - this car has a 400 horsepower supercharged V8 engine, it has so much power - Авто та транспорт
What do you like about Jaguar XJs?
Not only is it very nice to look at I can't help noticing how beautifully it rides. I live and work in London England and will always spot the XJ350 and admire the unflustered and smooth way it moves.
Styling!
Reminds Me of 1990s BMW E38 7 -Series. Great Sedan Cars.
Everything about these cars is fantastic!
Looks very good and is so smooth and quiet. M.
We expect the Italians and French to have style, but the Brits have produced some of the most stylish, classy and sexy cars of all time. The Jag is so distinctive and recognisable - just beautiful.
I loved my 2004 XJ8! It drove beautifully, lower maintenance then anticipated and pretty good gas mileage for a V8. Best car I ever owned.
That particular JAGUAR will be a CLASSIC. BEAUTIFUL BODY, they got it right at the end of it's run.
I agree 😍
Love the XJ's, right from the late sixties, through to the series 3 model..,but this XJ combines and improves on all the aesthetics of the earlier versions from every angle.
It is a masterpiece of design and is so pleasing on the eye...
I do like the latest version also...
@Matt Frazier Exactly. it's the perfect Jaguar. Many Jaguar experts and afficianados say the 2004-7 XJ8/L/R/Super V8s are EASILY the best XJs ever... and will last and become classics. Superb, timeless looks and a BLAST to drive!
Christopher Mather That is the exact reason I will Never sell my 2004 XJR. Every time I go in the garage I spend 5 minutes just looking at it.
I have an 07 in BRG. Your right about the Jag being distinctive. I see many Mercs/Bimmers/Audis everyday, but very few Jags. It still turns heads and I'm always getting compliments.
I’ve been looking at some 2006-2008 XJs, especially the Vanden Plas. They’re just beautiful cars. I’m not even into cars and when I first saw a 2008 XJ VP I fell in love.
All of the XJs are very similar overall, 2 engines, 2 lengths, a few different options. They certainly are beautiful cars, especially compared to 99% of new vehicles even.
Love my 2007 XJR in charcoal black with 20”Callisto rims, side power vents, black leather, aluminum interior instead of normal wood. Car was originally from Canada with kilometers speedometer. 4.2 v8 supercharged. Should listen to the supercharger whine when it comes on! Sounds like airplane taking off! Air ride suspension! Lots of admirations.
Ah yes the supercharger whine is awesome!
lovely car, much nicer than a Tesla.... it has soul..... something a Tesla will never achieve for me. Modern cars have lost their way.... and besides so much value.
You are absolutely right about Jaguar having a "soul". Most cars today have lost their soul/uniqueness.
Just lovely. I adore my XJR (2007) too. Finest saloons ever probably.
👍
I purchased my 2004 XJR Brand new in May 2004. I got a lot of compliments on mine too. My car was silver with dove interior. I put 10k on it during the first month I owned it. I lost her in hurricane Wilma in 2005. The brake rotors were the only weak spot.
I do like the dove interior too! I haven’t had any brake problems. These cars are sure special in my opinion.
I definitely like this body style over the current one. I drove my XJ hard. That is why the rotors would warp. Warping brake rotors was an industry wide issue with all manufacturers during the late i0’s and early 2000’s. This car was a technological revolution for that time. The X350 is my favorite. The current XJ actually shares the X350 platform.
I heard on the XJR they switched away from Brembo for the brakes in ‘06, maybe that’s why. Mine do not have the Brembo logo like 04-05 XJRs.
InternetDude I believe that is the reason. The Brembo brakes faded very quickly when pushed hard. 2006 the upgraded the front brakes. The size of the rotors were increased and they were thicker. That addressed the fading and warping issue. I find the rear end of these cars is very attractive. I like how it narrows and the LED lights. Very classy.
I’ve got a half hour long Jag tour video in case you haven’t seen it, you might like it too.
Great Car! I bought a 2005 Super V8 with only 50,000 miles just six mos. ago. I had to drop a bootload on her right out of the gate as most of the bushings and control arm etc. needed r&r so now I am$15,000 in it but I don't even care. I was in a Town Car till now but I will never be the same..I love my Jag so much I nearly proposed! The car really has cat like qualities I mean it has a growl very big cat like, it can pounce better then most and it purrs at all time always landing on it's very costly feet they put a spell on these cars and it gets to your blood.my God I need help! LMMFAO! Cheers!
I can't remember if I mentioned in the video but my car has approx 53,000 miles. There is no comparison IMHO between a Jag and a Town Car. Night and day difference in so many ways, as you know. The best thing for you to do is I'd say buy another one ;-)
The Super V8 is also a supercharged v8 and came in standard and oversized wheelbase models. An extremely fast sedan!
Bought ‘06 XJ Super V8 new. Same engine as the XJR but 5 more inches of legroom for the rear passengers plus picnic trays. Because it’s aluminum those 5 inches didn’t add much weight. Car really held the twisties. Because of that plus being beautiful inside and out, every time in it was an occasion. Put 160,000 miles on it over 9 years. And I still miss it.
I sold this car and I miss it sometimes in summer. It’s such a great cruiser.
It's a Jag! what else do you need to know. I have a 2007 BRG You're right about the compliments. I also like the jealous stares from Bimmer, Merc, and Audis.
LOL yes this thing turns heads
Beautiful and Timeless!
I agree! Be sure to check out my tour video also.
Jags are unique. They have what Sir Willam Lyons said, "Pace, Space, Grace". Nothing compares to the presence of a Jaguar. I've owned two and they have been brilliant cars, reliable, luxurious & sexy.
I have 2004 XJ8 , what a car ! luxury in and out . 294 horse power , there is no match in style I love it .
you're a very lucky owner, this car design will never get old :)
Agree 💯
Looking nice all the time.
What a beauty, very nice indeed sir....
Thanks for the video. I recently acquired a 2003 Vanden Plas Super V8 (supercharged). The interior is beautiful and the exterior has beautiful classic lines. I replaced all four CAT shocks, new slotted brakes up front and the front sway bar linkage. Luckily, I can do the work myself.
As you mentioned, people take notice of the car. With the smaller tires, it rides quite nice yet it takes corners superbly. With 370 HP, It is a bit thirsty on gas, but like you, I only take it out occasionally. I found out my car sold for over 90K new. I acquired it for 2.7 K. These cars are under appreciated and undervalued. They are going up in value a bit. Your car is beautiful. Thanks for your video.
Nice just bought one 🤘
Very nice Jag. Agree with everything you said. Love my 07 XJ6.
These are great cars.
Nice car. I have a 86 xj6 I bought for 15k 2yrs ago. It had 26k original miles. All device records from new, no rust or accidents, one owner
Taken it north to Quebec, east to Nova Scotia from Toronto, with no issues. It’s a joy to drive
i keep looking at these, excellent value for money here in the uk,
by the way great informative relaxed video,
enjoyed it.
They are a phenomenal value if you find a well maintained one!!
Wonderful machine very nice
I-Dude; just picked up a 2004 Jaguar xj8 with only 67,000 miles, in mint condition. Thanks for your video. cr from Florida
Nice!
How’s the jag holding up man?
@@SheldonBeldon Held up well. Friend of mine begged me to sell to him so I did. He loves it. Maintenance can be a bit pricy, but if you look around you can keep it in mind conditions for a lot less than any " stealership ".
@@cgrinna Right on- I am an american but moved to the UK so they're a lot more common over here and you can find a 2004 XJ8 4.2L with the naturally aspirated or even supercharged with around 60K miles for less than $10,000.
It was a funny thing to move over here and look at the used car market- because it's a small island cars with 80K miles are considered high-mileage vehicles. People also take much better care of their cars over here because they have to pass the MOT every year which makes sure the car is road-worthy. In the US it was just emissions, I had a mazda when I was 19 with a window missing that had been in a side collision and it was still legal to drive.
I heard the Jags can have suspension issues and the sensors for the air suspension are really sensitive, but the engines are supposed to be really reliable and they are so beautiful inside and out. Really looking forward to one of these or maybe a Lexus LS430, probably a Jag as they look much nicer.
@@SheldonBeldon I did have an air suspension alert because one of the air shock bladders went bad. Dealer wanted $700 to replace. Ordered the part from online auto parts co., and with youtube video replaced the shock my self. It was simple. Did it for about half the cost. Loved the car, great engine, and beautiful interior.
Absolutely lovely car xxxxxx
Recently purchased a 2004 pacific blue xjr.... Awesome car! Will be upgrading the pulley belts and hoses. #betterbuilt
My dad had 2 of these when I was growing up, insane cars
Slowly becoming my fav channel. Can you review more cars ? Like all the lovely 1999-2012 epic cars.
Thanks. Check out my 2007 Lincoln Town Car video.
greatings from germany,
i do drive this model acutally with the diesel engine for eurpoe and of course it is not to compare with the super charged engine and your power but the other things you mentioned are 100% the same good feeling.
we love the quietness inside on highways when you drive fast it is so wunderfull and the quality of the interior finish is very higt.
Before this car we had the xj 308 from 2000-2015 with the v8 with was also ver good but this one has the level of the time...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Had a 2003 4.2 XJ (non-supercharged). Actually miss that car now watching this video. They are actually going up in value now, as the guys are holding on to these nowadays.
I now feel sad, having had to get rid of our 2006 Jaguar XJ6 2.7 litre diesel last year due to DPF giving up again and would have cost a lot money. Oh how I miss it a beautiful well built car. At least I still have our other British classic car, my 1965 Humber Super Snipe. Glad you love your Jag.
had 5 of them - a good car - I had less maintenance issue with all my jags vs my latest Cadillac - all beautiful
Cool vid, Love my STR
Same engine I believe? 👍🏻
Have a 05 xj8 and love it! Wish it had a supercharger!!
Supercharger or not these are very fine automobiles!
love the xjrs currently own a 04 vdp cant wait ti get the xjr
Nice
Perfection
love the colour scheme, inside and out, my old-man had one but the top half of the dash was finished in black which he always felt looked odd, yours appears to be brown which is more in keeping with the rest of interior...very handsome looking motor.....
Yes the dash is brown and goes very well. One video left, the tour ;-) I still have the car (it's for sale at the moment) in case you have any other questions. Or want to buy the car heh heh.
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you
😁
Oh wow, when you got up I thought it was a toy car for a second!
Fabulous motor I have an s type Jags are lovely
Those alloys are so nice
They really attracted me to the car when I saw it for sale.
I own a beautiful 2005 jaguar s type r in radiance red. It’s in mint condition bought it with 53k miles owned it going on 2yrs now. It’s slightly modded my doing and is a beast. Always garage kept and isn’t a daily. I love it an absolute dream car of mine. Love the xjr as well take care of it. Ps, please give that engine some much needed TLC and fully detail it please. You should be able to eat off of that engine when finished😉
Check out my newer full tour video, the engine bay is clean. These cars are great.
Beautiful car, dude...thinking of getting one myself here in Jakarta. Kinda hard looking for the low milage XJRs.
It's a nice car, kept much of the classic look but nothing beats the x308 😁
X308 is also a very fine car 😉
I just had my Jaguar XK detailed. You should do the same. I couldn't believe what he did with the engine
bay, it looks like I just drove home from the showroom.
stunning
Thank you! 😊
@@InternetDude i have the model before, X308, Daimler super V8. lovely car. along with a few other Jags.
I really like the XJR badge. I've had 2 04 VDP since 2006. I think the alpine sound system and nav placement goes well with these cars. The wood and leather are one of my favorite parts of this car. It never gets old. I did a painting the size of the nav screen of alpine background taken out of world 6 from Mario 3 all stars game. I think that picture goes well with the car. I posted a video of the painting in my VDP.
What
Beautiful shape
Been im 2 very smooth drive
I still have an xjr
Drive it in the summer only
I m glad I have it because cars have quit looking like cars
The interior is like jewelry
It really makes you feel like you are in something that is unusually awesome
I have to say if you invest $5000 a year into upgrading it as time goes by it keeps you in the past with the comforts of the future
And its fun
So drive nice and sometimes very fast
I always think someone will report me because the quick speeds it can get to is scarey
women scream
Very nice car
Nice! I got rid of my XJ-R but I have a Lexus LS now, another beauty. The Jag turned way more heads though.
The brother of the Bentley Arnage!
I bought XJR portfolio 2009. I like the style of this car and also I like Jaguar is a fuel- efficient car. . It goes 14km per liter. My car has a beep sound when it goes faster than 110km.
Cool these are awesome cars for sure.
I Have a 2004 x350 xj v8 se. Bought for £ 4.ooo needing 1 rear lower bush. Now replaced with powerflex bushing from a s type. On all rear lower arms. Does 34 mpg uk on long runs i lowered the car a few mm at the rear. drove the crap out of it for 4 odd years now. It has a leeking header tank from the day i bought it takes half a litre of coolant ever few weeks. Has the alpine head unit very very underrated car never gave me any problems i cant fix myself. Ps 300 bhp is enough power for irish roads
Its a real car
It just seems natural
Picking this up with less than 80k kilometers for 15k USD is just incredible. Around here (Netherlands) the car was 130k new in euros, so about 145k USD, imagine the value you are getting!
I estimate the original price around $90K.... I’m in Canada so actually if you convert to US $ it’s more like $11,500. An absolutely incredible deal!! I have since sold the car but I truly enjoyed it.
Two or three hours of your (or someone else's) time, a small/portable steam cleaner, a couple of medium size paint brushes and a few throw away rags would do a lot to show off the engine compartment of the XJR making it look close to new again.
I’m planning on doing a tour style video, I will clean under the hood first!
I wanted one since the x350 body came into scene. They are truly beautiful cars, just wish the handles were solid chrome like on my old jags. I have the xj8, in gun metal grey with aftermarket 20" wheels and low profiles which actually hurt the ride. Ive had a few small problems, nothing too serious but air suspension problems are common on all air shock cars of this era. The stock stereo isnt that great when compared to my audi or even my volvo with bose. Nav is outdated, useless and the screen likes to go wonky (mine did) , and headlight flicker is also a common problem caused by bad grounds or the ballast. Just my two cents , I love mine in-spite of things ive had to correct.
The door handles do feel plastic-ky. Thanks.
Things I do like -- the body style, the beautiful interior which is akin to a Bentley, the quality of most components , gas mileage isn't that bad for a v8, power is adequate, and the interior is very quiet. Almost feels like a vault when you close the doors and sound is heavily reduced. I also like the trunk and rear seat size for passengers is awesome -- plenty of leg room. The car is heavy, and suits highway cruising perfectly. @@InternetDude
I've got a 2006 xjr and even though they are aluminium they do rust on the bottom of the doors and whell arches had mine 6 years and the last 2 years all 4 doors have bubbled up with that white aluminium rust on the bottom. I read somewhere that the metal steel flakes in the metallic paint react to the aluminium after time and mine has lived next to the sea for 5 years in England witch doesint help and they salt the roads over hear I give it 2 more years then to the scrap heap she goes
I did hear about that on the Jag forum. Fortunately aluminum corrosion (not technically rust) doesn't spread nearly as fast as steel rust. Have you considered an oil based rustproofing product such as Fluid Film? Maybe that would help you keep the car longer?? I know it works for metal rust, not sure about aluminum corrosion.
Car looks like new
When a car owner lives in the North east or some other coastal climate where salt is used in the winter the aluminum body is a saviour against rust.
Definitely, where I live rust destroys many metal cars all the time.
Owning so many cars really nullifies any help to the earth that electric cars may do. I love this Jaguar though, Sell the Pretentious Tesla's and buy more Jags!
Best to buy hands down it 1971 XK6, (e type is too expensive really).
Looking to buy one in Spain. A bit hard to find. Xj 2.7tdi or 3.0 v6
These are hard to find everywhere it seems.
😍
BTW wouldn't you say these suffer from lack of storage compartments in the interior?
I would say it's not much different from any other comparable car. Hey, my Tesla doesn't have door pockets and the XJR does.
i don't see a spot where i would drop my phone+wallet... I don't like to bury them in the armrest
I didn't show it but in front of the shifter there is a door that opens up, you could maybe fit it there in the ashtray area. Personally I would put the wallet in the door pocket (although I use a minimalist wallet). The center console lid slides back to reveal 2 cupholders which are also an option.
Can someone point me towards sites where I'm likely to find nice XJR's?
try Auto Trader
I am green of envy listening to you talking about the prices of these in US (or are you in Canada? judging by the odometer in km rather than mi)
it is roughly double here in Europe :(
That is Canadian pricing. I’d say the car shown here is worth about $11-14,000 today, approximately. US pricing would be about 30% lower.
*STAHP! I can not take any more of the torture!*
Check out the prices around here: suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/search.html?dam=false&fr=1-2006:12-2009&isSearchRequest=true&ms=12400;14&ms=12400;2&ms=12400;9&od=desc&pw=250&s=Car&sb=doc&vc=Car

Thanks
What year did you buy it and what year is it?
This car is a 2006, I bought it in I think it was 2017.
@@InternetDude it’s beautiful. Don’t ever let it go.
Sadly I sold it
@@InternetDude ouch. Haha well congrats to you both. I
I get compliments almost as much as I get with my TESLA
BAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
LOL
Hi to all jaguar fans! Is there anybody around here who can tell me, if the suspension of the xjr is lower than the one on the super v8 ?
I don’t know, perhaps someone else can help…
@@InternetDude thanks anyway
The suspension of super v8 is just soft. If you have an super v8 whit broken suspension, find the original piece will very hard... I have an Super V8 2003
Do you still own this big cat?
No I sold it last year. I have a Lexus LS now that I’m enjoying but it doesn’t turn heads like the Jag did.
What’s the price of the car
I sold it already
+1
I know I'll probably get shit for this but I don't really like the face of it all that much. It's just a bit too smooth and bubbly in my opinion. I personally own a 1989 XJ12 sovereign in metallic green which still has really big perfectly round double headlights that allow the hood and fenders to curve around them giving it an even more muscular and slim look and that's what I'm kind of missing here.
Please excuse my english, it's not my first language!
From the side that model looks a lot like a Pontiac Bonneville sse
Hmm
The best design was this generation
It looks like a lincoln lhs
Yhey should have Flatened the roof and Not Wrapped the Tail Lights . They Made the Tail Lights similar to the Crown Vic. The Tail Lights on the series 3 and rear end have more character .
You think that is bad look at how much less character newer Jags have ;-)
Please don't compare to a Tesla, which isn't in the same league with a Jaguar. Maybe in fifty years Tesla might reach the status of a Jag, that is if they don't all explode and burn!
Haha, is aluminium not metal?
I meant steel, probably shoulda said that :)
InternetDude yeah I know, sorry for being a smart arse
That's probably the most understated design V8 and the front looks exactly like the crappy X type. I think you call cars like that "sleepers" in the US. I dunno why you even mention Tesla in that video and apart from the things you like which are obvious it's a good idea to talk about the common issues like intermittent parking sensor failure, CD changer not working, rust bubbles under the paint and inevitable failure of the air suspension pump which needs front bumper removal in order to be replaced. Anyway, here in the UK nobody cares about the X350 which is a shame really but it's never gonna be a classic as the last proper Jag which is the X308.
I love jaguar its 😀👌 but Tesla i dont like 4 its not safe its like 🔥if you get hit you get up in 🔥
Right on
How mush
What mush?
Nice car very odd commentary
This car will get 400k miles if you take care of it like you should.
This is definitely more reliable than the older Jags 😉😆
@@InternetDude 04-08 were the best jaguars in my opinion. On so many levels.
@@docdildonica7515 I agree
@@docdildonica7515 newer ones are more generic looking
