Yes 5'10 and doesn't have arm strength and athleticism like Kyler Murray or a young R Wilson to overcome that. The fact that his game relies heavily on reacting to the defense vs being proactive pre snap will always work against him. He was a creator in college. Playmaker. He's too small, too slow and has too weak of an arm to do that in the NFL. You can combine Miami and San Frans offenses together for Bryce and he won't win 5 games.
I said we screwed up the moment we drafted Bryce , we would be better off drafting any other qb in the class , and yes that includes Levis. Levis at least isn’t afraid to throw the ball . Levis isn’t directing receivers down the field for a deep shot , holding onto the balll for 5 seconds getting pressure from the sideline and instead of throwing it away , he takes the sack . Super specific I know but that was terrible . 100%. I don’t care if anybody thinks I’m full of shit either. I knew from the start it was a bad pick. You cannot draft #1 overall a 5’10” sub 200 pound QB who refused to attend the combine. His lack of arm strength and athleticism would have been so blatantly obvious if he attended the combine. He baited teams into wanting to draft him
You could have got Stetson in the 4th round and had similar if not better performance. Especially considering you could have used everything spent on BY for better weapons everywhere else.
Bryce got paid when he was drafted. He has guaranteed money. I don't think he cares anymore. He knows he will never be good enough to get a second contract
Matt Barkley and those types still find back up jobs Bryce will hang around the league for another 10 years. Bryce is the drizzling shits. Bryce Mysterio Jr can't see over the line. Dalton has started 2 games and those two games were the only time they've had any passing offense. Dalton hasn't been a full time starter in like 4 years and he's been in the league 14 years. I’ll say it again, BUST!! Undersized and doesn’t like to compete or else he would’ve played better or showed more. He gave up his job to Andy Dalton. He was used to being the man and not having to compete for his job at either school.
The media has been so unfair to the panthers new GM, coaching staff, and players by constantly saying how bad Bryce Young’s situation is. I’d be pissed if I was a panthers player and all I heard the first two weeks was how bad our team is and how we’re not good enough for Bryce Young. That team has to feel great after proving in fact, Bryce Young is not good enough for the panthers or any NFL team.
These are facts! I think media forgets it's yet an Entirely new regime from the GM down who have zero ties to Bryce. For what it's worth, the last regime didn't even want him. The GM was forced to draft him. The HC was forced to play him. This is really all Tepper's fault but hey, he owns the team. A year too late but at least he's trying to correct yet another mistake and allowed Canales to bench Bryce unlike he did for Frank Reich.
Basing Quarterback success in the NFL from their college performance seems the most mysterious of all positions. Wasn't Tom Brady in a dual-QB situation with a relative nobody at UM? The Bears seem to be finding out just how tricky it is.
yeah, it's pretty f'ing hard to predict. Some guys just adjust better to the NFL game and others don't, and there doesn't seem to be a consistent rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it's brains, or height, sure, but not always.

I just thought he was a college guy like Manziel, but at the NFL level he’d get eaten up. And I was right. I've enjoyed watching football for many years but I never played the game, and I would never claim to have any particular expertise with it. However, sometimes I think my relative ignorance, and that of other fans like me, allows us to see certain things more clearly than some of the so-called football "experts," because we don't over-think simple things like they seem to do. Case in point: I don't care how good Bryce Young was in college and high school, he doesn't have the size to excel at a professional level. The college and pro games are simply two different animals, and there are so few nfl rosters spots compared to college roster spots that nfl team can staff every position with biggest, faster dudes. Every team, every position--big, fast dudes, and the skils that got Bryce Young this far were never going to be enough to overcome physics . Anyone thinking clearly knew this.
If you are a real Panthers fan like myself then you knew soon as we drafted Bryce over Stroud it was a mistake. Not going to the combine, being under 6 feet and being am Alabama QB were just some of the glaring red flags with him.
Bryce shouldn't be starting, he should have NEVER started. Failure to evaluate 'college good' and 'NFL ready' seems to be more of a POLITICAL decision than a RATIONALLY qualified one. Jeff Fisher famously quit his job because he didn't see what Bud Adams, the owner saw, in Vince Young. In the end, Fisher was correct as Youngs career fell off a cliff. If you're not looking at the CEILING and building on strong foundations, you're just drafting another flavor of the month and riding him until he breaks.
Its gon be really bad for Bryce if the Panthers start winning with Dalton, and then he gets hurt, and Bryce comes back in and starts to stink it up again and blow a playoff chance. The fans and his teammates are gonna turn on him. He had better get his mind right and fast. He could literally be back on the field as soon as next week if Andy goes down.
QB's need time. Some of the best ever sat on the bench and learned. Sam Darnold was a Jet, Panther, 49er, now balling. Baker Mayfield is the same. Mahomes sat, Brady sat. Roger's sat. He's small as well
Besides Baker, none of those guys were drafted 1st overall and neither were they projected to be. Bryce was always projected to be 1st overall. They called him the most nfl ready. Also said Panthers were the best situation for him opposed to the Texans. Turns out, he should have worked out at the combine alongside Richardson, Stroud and Levis and maybe his draft stock would have fell/adjusted to where it belonged. Somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd round.
to be fair Tua is amazing when he isn't getting concussions, which has nothing to do with going to Bama or not. At this point I'd say Ohio State is the major football school with the worse QB history. Also Hurts is doing pretty well. Doesn't have a 2394823 QB rating but he's doing what he needs to do for the most part.
Trevor Lawrence is hands down the biggest bust in nfl history the dude was hyped up as the golden child and his stats are very close to mac Jones stats and mac had way less offensive talent in NE ive been saying this for 2 years and Lawrence keeps doing the same thing mac has issues he has to figure out himself bryce needs a team that actually gives a crap about him cause the panthers sure dont and maybe they can get they're careers back on track. Also bryce would for sure be a better option than trey lance. If we go back not too terribly long ago saban spoke on these kids going into the nfl draft and they're picked so early and immediately expected to be the cure all for they're new teams and when in the case of bryce and mac they we're drafted into 2 of the worst possible situations the panthers hardly did anything to actually improve and so did the patriots neither one of them have great wr options or decent rb's thats why damian Harris left for the bills the only qb in the last couple of drafts to be NFL ready is cj stroud but he had a much better supporting cast baker Mayfield was a surefire bust but the move to tampa is suiting him well it comes down to if a player suits the type of team and bryce sure didn't so hopefully he can get out quickly and find a team that suits him and a qb (not $60mill garbage time stats Dak Prescott😂😂) to learn under
No Bryce's nfl career is done and should be done. He doesn't have good enough physical tools to be worth wasting time trying to fix him. Right now, he's zack wilson but slower, shorter, and a weaker arm. Is that really who you want to roll the dice on? Malik Willis at least had the raw physical talent to make him an interesting project. For Bryce though, even if you mange to fix his mental side, his physical side will always be severely lacking and his ceiling is low. Bryce is a high risk, low reward project and really isn't worth it. If you want to rebuild a project QB, you're better off investing time in someone with a higher ceiling that already has nfl level physical talent that just needs coaching.
There should be a comprehensive study of the great QBs in NFL history and how soon they started, how good the team was before they got there, etc. Great QBs who started right away for previously terrible teams seem somewhat rare. The most notable examples are Troy Aikman, John Elway, and Peyton Manning. Dan Marino was drafted by a Dolphins team that had just been to the Super Bowl. Jim Kelly had several years in the USFL before joining the Buffalo Bills. Patrick Mahomes sat behind Alex Smith before playing.
Typical video by someone who isn't close to what is going on with the Panthers. If you are "surprised" by his benching, you are WAY to far removed for from the facts to make a coherent comment. In college, Alabama QB’s have the best coaches, weapons, o-lines, defenses, and fans. In the NFL, they typically go to bad teams, playing against elite defenses week in and week out, where that O-Line and Weapons don’t carry over. Bama QB’s do not have the grit, or experience to handle adversity. It doesn’t help that Bryce Young is too short to see over his own O-Line. (The Number 1 passing O-Line in the nfl btw)
>Bryce had a bad OC, the worst DC in the history of the sport, a bad OL (over two years, two guys were 1st Round picks, a 3rd, and the rest were UDFAs and one went Canadian), and his weapons past Metchie and Jameson in Year 1 and Gibbs in Year 2 were nonexistent. >Carolina's roster far exceeds what Bryce had at Tuscaloosa on offense, and it's not close. Just looking at Draft profiles, Carolina's shitting all over Bama the two years Bryce started. And it's not like there was much of anything past the weapons I already listed. Bond was a growing product with Bryce and wasn't what he was in '23 and in '24, and Burton wasn't what he became (a 3rd Rounder) until '23. That's it. To try and say Bryce was surrounded by absurd levels of talent and coaching at Alabama, at least for the offense, is an abject lie. >No QB is just magically seeing over their line, that's not how basic math works-out. Even Josh Allen at 6'5-6'6 isn't seeing clear over his OL, because they're his height or taller. For a QB to see clearly over the OL, they'd have to be at least five or six inches taller than all of them. Every QB in the history of the sport has had to use passing-lanes to see the field. >"Bama QBs don't have the grit or experience to handle adversity..." Lol, ok kid. Just say you hate Alabama because Saban dominated the sport like no other and will never be surpassed, and that you know literally nothing about the sport. It's at least honest and far easier than going on UA-cam and making yourself look like an utter moron.
Alabama has definitely been above average for QB success in the NFL in the last 15 years relative to most other schools; Jalen and Tua for example. McCarron was solid backup QB. There is some truth to what you say, but saying Bama QBs don't have grit or experience to handle adversity is laughable. Dominated the most dominate conference for the last nearly 20 years. Bryce Young is trash. He's the problem and Andy Dalton proved it. Alabama QBs aren't cut out for the NFL. They only look good because of the talent around them.
Another bama qb bust. Last decent qb's were Stabler and maybe Namath. And no, Hurts doesnt' count, he got the boot from Saban. Check out what he reps when they do the intros from Monday Night or Sunday Night Football.
I have always maintained… Drafting a new QB ain’t fixing your team over night. Especially if your team is deficient in several regards. If anything it’s going to make his career that much harder.
Teams will still want Young in a trade as a project. QB prices are getting insane. Guys like Baker and Darnold look good now. You need to win with a rookie deal or decent vet.
To be fair the hash marks in college are about 40 feet apart, while the hash marks in the NFL are about 19 feet apart. So the window of getting the ball to WRs is smaller in the NFL than in college. I bring this up because most QBs coming out of college struggle facing the change from speed to the field layout.
Agree with you Matte... unfortunately, his confidence has to be at an all-time low. He's done for the year. It always comes down to the player! Brady, dominated for years. Covering up the below average coaching of Belicheck. Even Belicheck, believed in the Patriot Way. LOL... Bryce, needs to sit for a few years. The Bucs, would be a good fit. Bakers been through what he's been through. And Bakers only slightly physically bigger. With a similar skill set.
Every team seems to think drafting a QB , WR or other high profiled player will solve their problems . A rookie should sit behind a veteran for a year or two to learn. GM’s should learn a line is more important.
Chase Daniels did a great breakdown of BY last week that showed how bad he was playing. He had to be benched. I think BY has a low ceiling. I dont believe he will ever be a starter again.
Always thought he would be a bust. Horrible organization but he's just way too small and can't read a defense to save his life. Dalton just proved that.

The age old question could come to reality. Who is better Bennet or Young? I seen lots of articles of talks of Panthers trading BY to Rams. Personally it doesn't make sense, but it looks like as of now Stetson has the advantage for now. Miami more likely to trade for Stetson than BY. While neither might make it as a franchise QB, Stetson is bigger, faster and options at this point.
Panthers would be stupid to trade away someone after their first year when they drafted him that high. Just let him grow behind Andy. I think people are overreacting to the situation.
Panther fans knew Bryce was the problem. We didn’t know we’d respond like we did against the Raiders but we knew Bryce was holding us back. One reason is because when Andy started in the Seattle game last year he went 34 of 58 for 360 yards. Even with a bad o-line and receivers that couldn’t supposedly couldn’t get open.
That only makes Bryce looks worse man the main argument was he had no help on offense at all no one no matter who should’ve been able to look competent at qb if the team around him was awful but clearly if you are good you can make it work
Bryce Young is a 5' 10" in cleats guy that might weigh 185 lbs in full uniform with no discernible elite traits to be an NFL QB. Average arm average foot speed no pocket awareness. In 18 starts he has never had a moment to inspire his team into believing in him to be a franchise QB. Any coach that wants to make him a starter will get fired. Dave Canalas knew it and pulled the plug just in time. Bryce Young proved to TEPPER he sucked after the start of the season.
I seen an article where Mcvay might trade for BY. Seems crazy. If Stetson isn't the one for the Rams chances are BY for sure isn't it. It would be interesting to see what Stetson could do at the Panthers tho. Couldn't imagine him doing worse
I wanted Stroud, but when we drafted Young I was ok with it. However, I just have not seen any improvement. NONE. He looked really scared and in way too over his head. He had to be pulled...if just to watch for a good bit longer. Also, we have the same record as the Cowboys, and we were supposed to suck.
I was saying this for two years at Bama and all my fellow students called me crazy. Bryce has no confidence, couldn’t make decisions, and only looked good (though not THAT good) because of the absolutely elite talent around him in both the players and coaching staff. Hell, Saban alone could take a team full of Starbucks baristas to AT LEAST a 9-3 season if not to the playoffs. Point is, he was never a play-maker and got exposed. His stats were a product of the guys around him instead of his own ability. Same thing happened with Mac Jones, Manziel, Darnold, etc. and likely will happen to guys like Stetson, Carson Beck, maybe even Bo Nix.
We need to get Bryce out of here let's just stick with Andy Dalton and if he takes us somewhere sign him to an extension and then have whoever our potential franchise quarterback is sit behind him and we just keep Andy until he retires.

Bama looked awful during the BY years. Sure they won. But that's what elite teams do. But look at how many times they got lucky and should have lost in those years. They barely made it so many times.
Johnny Manziel would agree.
Pretty sure dak is considered a veteran at this point.

People don’t hate Young. He is just another QB in a long list who failed at NFL level. He may have a career as a backup lots of guys don’t get to that. But he is not and will not be a starter in the NFL he can’t see over the middle and his arm is suspect.
People probably said the same thing about the last 2 QBs who were on the same team look at them now! Sam and Baker are killing it! Coaching style and team scheme are a big reason why some QBs look bad on one team and good on another! Geno was seen as a QB#2 and look at him now lol

Just because you win the Heisman trophy doesn’t mean you’re an NFL quality player. And being a quarterback from Alabama automatically means you’re not gonna make it the NFL. Alabama quarterbacks are practically are surrounded by five star recruits you couldn’t ask for an easier football team to lead to victory.

Drop a video on the situation with UNLV QB Matt Sluka.
Number one pass protection OL AND he still SUCKS, also anybody that thinks Bryce young wouldn’t suck in Miami hasn’t watched every start he’s had like us panthers fans have, people forget that Andy dalton started only one game in week 3 last year and he went for 361 and 4 tds
100%. I don’t care if anybody thinks I’m full of shit either. I knew from the start it was a bad pick. You cannot draft #1 overall a 5’10” sub 200 pound QB who refused to attend the combine. Bryce Young to the UFL hopefully to the Stallions Coach Skip Holtz is a helluva QB whisperer

Bro I always thought he was trash. I can pull up messages, comments, whatever to prove it too. I just didn’t see it. Short dude with a noodle arm? I just thought he was a college guy like Manziel, but at the NFL level he’d get eaten up. And I was right. At least you admit youre wrong.
The Combine would have shown BY’s mediocre athletic ability, his slow foot speed, and his weak arm strength.
I had a feeling this would happen and mentioned it in the last video that this would show if the problem was Young or the team.
I've said this before, these weak NFL teams needs to fix the whole offense before drafting a top QB. 🤔
Bryce young’s the problem lol.

100 yard receiver
300 yards passing
Bryce is the problem he’s to short
You are quite correct, though Bryce’s deficiencies also don’t help.

He's small as well
Rodgers is 6'2" and so is Mahomes. I know Darnold is taller than that. So who is small "as well"? Mayfield? Well, Baker is 6'1".
@@sidviscous5959He means "in addition to Bryces disfavor, he is small"
Besides Baker, none of those guys were drafted 1st overall and neither were they projected to be. Bryce was always projected to be 1st overall. They called him the most nfl ready. Also said Panthers were the best situation for him opposed to the Texans. Turns out, he should have worked out at the combine alongside Richardson, Stroud and Levis and maybe his draft stock would have fell/adjusted to where it belonged. Somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Alabama QBs never pan out
How about Joe Namath? Come on Man. Bart Star Kenny Stabler.
to be fair Tua is amazing when he isn't getting concussions, which has nothing to do with going to Bama or not.

BY was not great at Bama. He got by, their was alot more talent on that team then is given credit.
Yall just forgot how good andy dalton is.
Point is, he was never a play-maker and got exposed. His stats were a product of the guys around him instead of his own ability. Same thing happened with Mac Jones, Manziel, Darnold, etc. and likely will happen to guys like Stetson, Carson Beck, maybe even Bo Nix.
Dude you sound ridiculous. Cowboys, 1-2. Panthers, 1-2. They ain't better than the Panthers 😂😂😂
We need to get Bryce out of here let's just stick with Andy Dalton and if he takes us somewhere sign him to an extension and then have whoever our potential franchise quarterback is sit behind him and we just keep Andy until he retires.
