The most peaceful lunch hour possible. Mountains, a scenic drive, a little wrenching, the sounds of each... also loving the filmography. Talented on many front. I hope your channel explodes.
Anyone who’s ever done any mechanical work outdoors can appreciate how much work and hardship all this took to film. Freezing temperatures in Idaho, changing camera angles, keeping the lens clean with greasy cold hands, and all with a crescent wrench. Very impressive and cool!
Lol, I can think of three that completely fits your description. The fourth one I used to watch regularly until his tweaker girlfriend wrecked his vintage VW.
No talking to another person while trying to show out like anyone gives a darn, no paid advertisements nothing. And they actually know what there doing.
Besides your mechanical abilities the filming is amazing. Every single frame works to tell the overall story and that is a something long needed in UA-cam. Have patience this channel is going to grow to it's true value, everybody sees and appreciates hard work and talent. Great job, again!
Talk about doing it with bare minimum tools!. Impressive, when you heated up the engine to get the temp sensor out. That little trick getting the inner bearing out was old school. Love this channel.
I need more of this quiet, rustic, fix-it-to-work content from you. The camera, the cuts, the settings, the ambiance, the truck choices, I love it. I’m a squarebody owner myself and I love watching you work with the basic tools to get these nice rigs back on the road. It proves to everyone who sees this that old trucks ARE reliable. Not to mention very easy to repair, given you know what you’re doing. I appreciate your videos, I really look forward to the next one!
Now it looks like you're on Teton Pass, which is so steep. I once had to crawl over it in my VW bus in second year. Looks like you're headed towards Wilson if you're coming into Wyoming.
OK, my favorite part so far you park next to a stupid Tesla in that ruffled 78 absolutely love that only thing I would've liked more is if you would've backed into the Tesla and shoved it out of the way or into a ravine
How this channel doesn't have millions of views I don't know. Classic Americana, beautiful scenery, no obnoxious music or commentary, just the sights and sounds of a good old American road trip and some wrenching. Best one hour I've spent in a long time.
I feel the same. What an absolute perfect video. No talking, an old truck, the road and we get to see close ups of some real life practical repair. This video makes me want to get an old chevy truck now lol.
I bought a 97 ford aerostar the other day. I'd like to say it was under my own whim but after tuning in here for the last little bit you've started to rub off on me. Appreciate yah buddy.
I`m a retired Florida State Trooper, and a bit of a motorhead. I watch a lot of UA-cam and have my own channel under John Wingrider. I love video`s of old trucks and cars, but most are just a lot of talking, yours however I think are the best videos on UA-cam, I love them. Please do more.
It's hard to find a good truck or car sub. They either play up to the camera, make their political bias known or parade their thirst trap no talent girlfriends around. I just want to watch stuff get fixed. Hopefully this one is a keeper.
Every time is pleasure when i look your videos! Thank you man! Back than when these trucks are made, the things are simple, no computers and every man whit some skills can repair his vehicle. Simple and reliable machines.
I am a Japanese mechanic. I think it's great that you use a few tools and are creative with them. I subscribed to your channel right away. Your work videos are amazing!!
Always a treat to spend time with Simon. Another great video. And what an awesome adventure. I feel like I have had a break and been away. Thanks for this!
The amazing part is that everything is so accessible and can be done with a vice grip or that adjustable wrench. It's incredible. I’ve got a real nice wool blanket I keep for fall family picnics or winter parking lot take-out lunches in my one day off. My heat works well but I drive almost 2 hours in the morning to get to work. This video reminds me about how much I love letting the first 15 minutes of my drive go by with the heat not yet turned on and that blanket on my lap while I enjoy my coffee in the slow lane. 6. Please continue these videos and remind men like me that our kind is still alive and well as your comments seem to point out, bleak numbers be damned. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to share your comments, i really appreciate hearing it! It’s great to know what some folks take away from my videos, it gives meaning to my work.
I love all cars, new and old, but I will admit sometimes I feel my 2004 Nissan Frontier is getting a little old, but when I watch your videos of you giving TLC to cars way older than 2004, you give me motivation keep the old girl on the road. As always, great video.

Got yourself a new subscriber! Fantastic story telling with old wisdom you hardly see anymore. When you forgot the cotter pin, I was genuinely worried. But,... there it was,... with a comedic pause. Well done.
"Simon's" favourite part of the trip was being able to dig his bare hands into the pot of grease XD Seriously though dude, what an insane adventure. I wonder what your plan was for becoming stranded at any point? You've seriously outdone yourself with this vid though, thank you so much for all your hard work and taking us along for the ride. Hope life is being good to you!
Found this and ive been recommending it to all my pals at work. We all enjoy vice grip, junkyard digs stuff like that. But this is different. The shots are close up to the work and is a whole different vibe. Really enjoy your stuff buddy.
I am watching this from the U.K. and absolutely love the content. I grew up in the 70'S watching the great U.S. series and of course the fantastic U.S. trucks and cars. I have to say I am always amazed at your talent and ability to fix anything. Please keep the videos coming as from here in the U.K. I'm sure there are a lot of U.S. enthusiasts like me.
You should open your own company specializing in creative filmography. I’ve never seen any you tubers hold my interest the way you have. No words spoken…..I would not have believed it but none were needed.
Since 1971 when I was 11 years old I have been working on Old Chevy Trucks. I thought I was watching a video of myself and common sense wrench turning. The only thing that truck is missing is the rack for my 870. Great Video Thank You 🙏
First time watching one of your videos, have to say I was a bit concerned when you added oil to the engine but I soon found out you’re quite capable! The video was quite satisfying, thanks!
As soon as I saw the thumbnail for this video…I knew I had to watch. This is a truck from my youth. My dad had this very same truck when I was ten years old. Chevy Big 10…350 V8 and big aggressive off road tires. God I miss those days and I miss my dad..!!
One of the most beautiful and best videos that makes you live the same moment, I don't know how an hour of this silence and follow-up went until I was surprised by the end of the movie, my dear, continue because I'm watching you from Yemen. I hope my words reach the beautiful Montana
Just came across this video yesterday, 21 October 2024. Watched it from beginning to end. I'm blown away literally!!! No irritating background music nor no needed information.... wow 👌
Man I loved this video. It reminds me of the time I bought my 1980 Mercedes 300sd sight unseen. It was a true shit box but the honesty of engineering and mechanicals back then was one thing that gave me true confidence and helped me make it home. Awesome video and thank you!
Oh Simon, simply great!!! You made me watch the full video when I should have slept (it's 2 am just now), but every single second worth it. I enjoyed every sound, every movement, those beautiful sceneries making me feel as if I were present, taking home an exemplar of my always desired and loved Chevy C10 square body. Loved the way to film that cool trip. No doubt you must be a professional. You made me react to almost everything, that it only missed to make me smell the old oil once you removed the oil pan's bolt. I am now one more follower. Greetings from Mexico.
Sweet drivetrain, beautiful scenery, a rusty pickup, a few tools, a little of life's knowledge and enough bucks for gas and a few parts - what more could you possibly ask for? And Rotella is the good stuff, too... I bet that in 46 years from now, we won't see anyone doing a similar trip in a Tesla of that vintage. Or anything made in the last 10-20 years of our time. I'll donate my 2005 Nissan Tiida/Versa to the cause, if anyone's keen... I won't be around to be proven wrong or right, but I'd say I'm correct. I really enjoy your videography skills. Thank you.
thank you, dude. I`m far from Ukraine, now serving in the army, missing my family, besties, and my dear old car. Waiting for a day I could take it and have a wonderful trip through my peaceful land.
There ain't nothing better that an old car or truck that you can actually work on yourself; one that while you're out on the road you can fix it and get going again or keep yourself going to make it to your destination. Just like this video - no talk, just do it! Bravo
Always watch your videos, you remind me of myself. I enjoy all the effort you put into your videos and your work. I recently drove 2700 mile round trip for a 79 F-100, I took my 95 Chevy. Definitely an experience. Also love the cat, I’m a cat lover myself as we have 4 of them. Just wanna say thank you for the entertainment and keep the videos coming. Definitely got talent.
Brought my back GOOD memories . Got 1985 Chevy suburban Scottsdale Two tone colors navy blue / silver . travel a round trip to Texas from west palm beach Florida for Christmas . A family of four . GR8 truck . Still missing. Then we move to texas . Got a uhaul two axle cargo trailer and loaded with our stuff. Pull very strong . GR8 vídeo clip sir . Happy Father’s Day 2024 .
I love the way these videos are filmed. Also. America is absolutely stunning to look at. I love how there's no pretentious nonsense about torque settings and paid sponsorship for some garbage. Just fixing the thing. I want to drive across that continent slowly while stopping to fix a cool old truck........
My old partner also shows his age (C10 1974) He turns 50 this year, but he still helps me. I never stopped maintaining it properly, I have had it for almost 10 years. 6 cylinder 230 engine, consumes the same as your V8 haha! Almost 5 km/liter Congratulations for your work and excellent editing. Greetings from Córdoba, Argentina!
The best video on UA-cam as of 5-27-2024. You took me back 30 years my friend working on my 78 Chevy big10. Today is call a wrecker, back then id fix it in the middle of no where ! I was thinking the steps out loud of every single work you did to this truck ! Awesome video, thanks.
Great short film! Imaginative road trip / rolling resto theme. As always, framing was terrific, as were all the cutaway shots. Thanks and keep 'em coming!
Really Simon (now “Chevy man?”) “the long way..”’it’s not a video. It’s a very good “road movie” . You americans know a lot of this kind of good movies! Congratulations from Tandil Argentina
Gracias 🙏🙏
Yt is so full of crap these days, and somehow i managed to find this gem of a video. A welcome change of pace and one of the best videos i’ve seen in years. Keep it coming. 👍🏻👍🏻
Subscribed for sure. About a year ago I bought my '83 C20 Chevy Suburban, I remember driving it home 4 hours in the dead of night on a narrow, windy, 2 lane mountain highway, thing can barely go 60 with the 3 speed auto! She was worse for wear then but now all she needs is paint! I wish I filmed the journey too. Thanks for the great ride
Well! Very refreshing video. I felt I was traveling and fixing right next to you. I just happened to checkout your channel. Now that I have I am going to share with a bunch of my family and friends. I love the content and the style. It’s over the top!!!!! Can’t wait for the next one.
Simon, you are one of the luckiest guys I’ve ever seen. Changing the thermostat in the absolute middle of nowhere… balls of iron. If that had been me, I guarantee I would have snapped a bolt off in the manifold.
Holy cow, this has to be my all time favorite youtube vid. It appeals to the heart of every man who loves old cars, tools, hard work and the outdoors. Amazing job.
I get anxiety on long trips. I've been stranded far from home before, always made it home. This really puts it into perspective. Thanks, that was cathartic!
Hi, I'm excited about your video. The algorithm suggested it to me and I think it's wonderful. I live in Uruguay, South America, my age is 52 years old, and my father taught me to drive in a 1970 Chevy C10. Your video has reminded me of some of the best moments of my life. When you park next to a Tesla it's great. I congratulate you..regards
I love your videos. No commentary, no music, superb filming and editing. Smooth handling of mechanical issues on the way, with simple tools and no fancy, crazy expensive equipment.
Loved this, very visually satisfying. I didn’t really plan to fully watch it, but couldn’t look away once it started. Aesthetically very, very good. And weirdly meditative. Thank you. The shots are really fabulous and appreciated.

This is my favorite automotive channel. No obnoxious music or antics. Top notch filming. Absolutely fantastic!
This is like watching a Clint Eastwood western who drifts with an old truck instead of a horse. Visuals of situations and corrective actions.
Lol, I can think of three that completely fits your description. The fourth one I used to watch regularly until his tweaker girlfriend wrecked his vintage VW.

I have like multiple comments to compile into one.
1. I can no longer tell myself I need more tools for my nearly 25 year old truck. I have a near full shop at hand already. This video reminds me of all the little tricks I learned from an old timer when I worked at a truck shop.
2. I occasionally consider a newer truck to eliminate the random roadside inconvenience that happens when I least have time for it. This video makes me realize that’s my fault, not the truck.
3. Sadly most Americans have fallen for the automotive marketing bait with the Banks tricking them into giving their own time up for a pipe dream of *better*. This video makes me glad I always follow my heart, not the herd.
4. Winter is coming. I’ve rebuilt my front end suspension and put new tires on, new filters, fluids, new copper plugs, new fluid in the diff, greased my driveline. I have to fluid film the frame when i do my next oil change in fall. This video reminds me I’ve got a slow power steering leak that I hope to nurse through winter till next year when I can replace the rack and lines.
5. I’ve got a real nice wool blanket I keep for fall family picnics or winter parking lot take-out lunches in my one day off. My heat works well but I drive almost 2 hours in the morning to get to work. I bought (new) a 1974 C/10 Custom. I loved that truck. Easy to work on. Rebuilt carb, etc. Just wished it was 4x4. Great video!

6 cylinder 230 engine, consumes the same as your V8 haha! Almost 5 km/liter
Congratulations for your work and excellent editing.
Greetings from Córdoba, Argentina!
This is my dream life, just drivin' around
Как будто кино про авто посмотрел. Отлично получилось, с душой и всё понятно. Классный кот. Удачи, привет из России.
Love your videos. Thanks for the boot shots💪
Really Simon (now “Chevy man?”) “the long way..”’it’s not a video. It’s a very good “road movie” . You americans know a lot of this kind of good movies! Congratulations from Tandil Argentina
Gracias 🙏🙏
Y LA CHEYENNE APÁ.???????
I felt so amazing watching that Fram get removed!
Yt is so full of crap these days, and somehow i managed to find this gem of a video. A welcome change of pace and one of the best videos i’ve seen in years. Keep it coming. 👍🏻👍🏻
لقد ابدعت سيمون وكأن صمتك يحكي الكثير .. شكراً لك استمر متابعك من جنوب جزيرة العرب
Cool video
Nice job.
Came for the truck stayed for the cat
I get anxiety on long trips. I've been stranded far from home before, always made it home. This really puts it into perspective. Thanks, that was cathartic!
Mechanics music! You don't need to say a word at all, this sounds amazing for itself! It's a universal speaking...greets from Brazil
Another banger from SimonChevyman
your videos are perfect man i love playing them in the background while I'm working I get annoyed when some people are talking too much lol
Thanks!
What an awesome job👊🏽! I have a 05 6.0 f350 that would love a complete set up as your. Can't wait to see more videos
Great filmography, like always. A pleasure to see and relax....THX Simon!!!
Thank you, Simon. I’m a retired heavy equipment mechanic love to watch these videos. Keep it up.
I love your videos. No commentary, no music, superb filming and editing.
Smooth handling of mechanical issues on the way, with simple tools and no fancy, crazy expensive equipment.
the cinematography in this episode was outstanding
I have ADHD and your videos work like therapy
The way you set up the camera it’s unbelievable good
Thanks!
Thank you!
Loved this, very visually satisfying. I didn’t really plan to fully watch it, but couldn’t look away once it started. Aesthetically very, very good. And weirdly meditative. Thank you. The shots are really fabulous and appreciated.
Its so refreshing to watch a video that is well put together. You really capture many things to appreciate. Keep making them, I’ll keep watching.
