Hey Mark, I just bought the riot...all I can say is wow!! It sounds like an amp, not a pedal at all. I usually don't like distortion pedals, but this thing is beyond insane!
That pedal is freaky good! I am going to buy this and either a Shiba drive or Koko boost or both in addition to it. John Suhr can do no wrong in my opinion. Everything he makes is just amazing and top notch. Great demo man. It really does sound like an OD100 SE+ in a box

@brunofelix20 You can set it so when the unit powers up it is ON or OFF or controlled by the Fxlink (remotely switching from an FX switching system like GCX, Bradshaw, etc)
Great tones and a quality clip all the way. This was one of the reasons I bought one myself. BTW, I just made a video of the RIOT too: SUHR RIOT - Les Paul, Tele, SG and PRS tones
@samhillband I got the Suhr Riot on the basis of this video, and it is a very transparent pedal extremely responsive to any of my guitars, I tend to use it on my Dual Rec on the Raw Setting on the amp and i have the switch set to the left. HUGE tone. Thanks Mark PS The BB Preamp is in the rack and works well with the raw setting but doesnt do so good with the clean not nearly as good as the RIOT does
OH that BROWN sound.... That sounds browner than a sewer worker's BOOTS man..... LOVE IT. Suhr makes a seriously kick ass pedal.... Heir to the Pedal throne. MXR can suck it, after hearing this. This is just amazing.
@askerex For this one I used an Edirol R09-HR to capture the audio then I brought the video and audio files into ProTools (Digi003) I am now using an Apogee Duet and Logic Pro.
@mikefont69 For this one I used a Creative VadoHD. Any decent HD camera should get you there. Beware most of them have horrible mics. The Zoom Q3HD has it all.
i have a gibson les paul studio through a MG30FX.I play hard rock( GNR,Velvet Revolver ,Slash ,AcDc and some metal ( metallica , black sabbath). do u prefer this pedal or something else like a boss distortion?

I'm seriously considering buying this with a nice tube combo or even halfstack. Only reason being that I absolutely adore a hotrodded Marshall tone. You think all I would need is a decent guitar with a high-output pickup in the bridge,the pedal into a clean tube amp?
Great tone, and that's not even a tube pedal. But one has to know that the clean channel is very high quality on the od100, has a nice warm sound by itself and that sure helps the pedal to sound great. How do you like the G-Major 2?

I have been playing in my band as a three piece with a Crate 120 watt solid state 212 combo into a Bugera 412 cabinet. The distortion channel is good but it just doesn`t have the cutting through the mix. Guys with 60 watt 212 tube amps just blow me away volume and cutting through. I was wondering if I got this pedal on the clean channel I would cut through. Good tone.
Is there any way to use the Riot with something that will add gain and volume for lead boosts? to get the volume boost I am guessing I would need a boost after the distortion pedal. Maybe a Micro amp? LPB-1? Thanks!
@jointhearmy555 What pickups do you have in your PRS? He is probably getting more distortion than you because he is using active pickups. Looks like Seymour Duncan Blackouts.
I've got an old super reverb (silverface modded to a blackface) and a PRS custom 22. I'm trying to use them with this pedal, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to get anywhere NEAR the amount of high quality distortion that you've got going. It just sounds like some muddy overdrive trying wayy to hard to sound like hot pronounced distortion. Any advice? Much appreciated vid btw
@jem7772's comment is completely off the mark. I've heard several demos and this one just confirms that this pedal is killer. And a "cheap pedal"? Not really. It's in the middle of the pack of OD/Disto pedal prices. Great demo, guy!
You're a terrific player. Nice demo. This pedal is amazingly clear and articulate for the level of gain going on. Definitely best in class gear here.
