  • A faulty instrument cluster in these vans will cause seemingly unrelated problems. Wiper blades may stay on. Headlights and parking lights may stay on. Turn signals may stop working. Brake lights may stop working.
    Video includes which fuses to check and which wires to test for power.
    Tools needed:
    Pry tool
    Phillips screwdriver
    Torx T-15 driver
    10mm socket and ratchet

    Thank you for the video! I went step by step and replaced my 2012 Dodge Caravan. My husband freaked out when he came home and seen the dash apart. Most women don’t do this stuff I know. I’m not most women though. Being able to pause the video and follow your lead was a peace of cake. Thank you!

    Thank you for the uploading, without that I couldn't change the 1 pc faulty led in the tachometer of my 2011 Grand Caravan... Only one remark, at 1:12 before prying the decoration between the two glove compartments you should loose 3 screws in the bottom of the upper compartment, under the rubber insert, after it it is very easy to take it off.

    I appreciate you gathering information and symptoms of a bad instrument together. I was having all of those but brake light issues.
    Cannot confirm but it seems like my grand caravan would start acting up after a drastic temperature change or low temps below 60 degrees. At first I was able to unplug the battery and reset the system but overtime every time I would find a solution it would only work shortly.
    Almost like a dreadful version of bop-it..
    The last few months of troubleshooting have been unsuccessful even after reading plenty of documents, watching videos and discussion with others at dealerships. I tried EVERYTHING 😅
    You put it to action for us DGC owners going through the possessed car issues and provided a solid solution. I purchased an exact match to my cluster, installed and everything works now. Thank you!

    • @redneckoriental
      @redneckoriental  2 роки тому +1

      I, too, was surprised at how Chrysler tied all those functions into the instrument cluster. It just adds another variable to the already unconventional electronics on these cars. First, let's run it all through this mysterious and problematic TIPM. Then muddy it some more by running through the cluster. Even wiring diagrams, won't help much with diagnosing related problems because modules like the TIPM and cluster are just shown as an empty boxes. The schematic may as well be a big fat question mark.

    I was thinking of replacing bulbs to slightly change color of the gauges but if that’s what it takes then I think I’ll pass. Only if necessary.
    Btw, the issues you are describing caused by faulty cluster are probably often misdiagnosed with faulty TIPM, for which these vehicles are famous.

    • @redneckoriental
      @redneckoriental  2 роки тому

      You are correct about the TIPM. In fact, this one did have a faulty TIPM that caused some of the problems. The customer let it persist until more problems started showing. The TIPM was replaced, resolving some of the issues. Then the cluster took care of the remaining ones.

      Yes. It's a used cluster. The odometer will be incorrect. Customer didn't care. You can have them programmed. There are services out there that can do "odometer correction". Otherwise, in California you can make "True mileage unknown" on the title when you sell it.
