      lol again that's with it having $1400, 2TB add on from 256GB -- of the fastest on the market SSD. Educate yourself on the specs first.

      Rickesh Patel so im getting limited ports (which means ill also have to invest in dongles), a mediocre graphics card (the 960m outperforms it), a big clunky trackpad (seriously, there was no need to go this big as the old one was perfect imo), a crappy keyboard that you have no choice but to get used to, worse battery life than the previous gen macbooks e.t.c But hey, at least you get the fast storage right?

    Basically its UA-camR laptop. Every review I see is only with final cut pro

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 7 років тому +12

      Thats probably because its the best optimised program for Apple.

    • @arulpr
      @arulpr 7 років тому +7

      why would you do that over and over again and why not show least optimized software on the product so users can make an informed decision. Instead this creates a illusion that every software runs like final cut pro on mac.
      A review should let the users decide they need to give a honest perceptive on pros and cons. With MacBook pro I don't think youtube is the right place to look for a review.
      Looks like most youtubers are locked into Mac ecosystem and they have nowhere else to go for hardware other Apple and It is essential for their work case and will be masked by that to professionally judge it for other use cases

    • @Kingjay814
      @Kingjay814 7 років тому +1

      Arul and even at that this thing don't even seem that great. I don't see how needing to carry 4 different adapters. This is how Apple gets away with this. Everyone's like "yeah you only get 2 ports but just buy this adapter and you get the features that you missed out on". I don't know what kind of professional this thing is aimed at but I just don't see it as a convenient computer. Everything he's saying in this video is like "this don't work here but if I use this program that I don't really like it works" it's just BS good on Apple for conning people.

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 7 років тому +1

      Kingjay814 Apple is supporting their software first, its up to other companies to do the same then. Its called 3rd party for a reason... as far as the ports go they made room for a better keyboard and speakers and the bigger trackpad while still having the option for dongles which aren't that bad.
      If your going to hate atleast point out actually issues and not just opinions.

    • @arulpr
      @arulpr 7 років тому +1

      Apple supporting its own software is well and good but the performance should be good for every software. Microsoft doesn't get that benefit with reviewers do they? Microsoft gets crucified if a third party app doesn't work.

    Everyones complaining about the new MacBooks but it's Apple's highest selling MacBook Pro ever and has outsold every major windows laptop of 2016 and has sold 4x as many units as Surface Book, 9x Asus Chromebook flip, and 10x Lenovo Yoga 900.
    P.S these stats are from Nov 9 lol imagine what they are now

    • @mj-np9sy
      @mj-np9sy 7 років тому +1

      The statistics you're referring to were provided by one group "@sliceintel" (who everybody seems to regurgitate but never ever explain as to who or what they are) which seems to get their data from an IOS and Android app from their 4.4 million subscribers under the guise of "Slice - Automatic Package Tracker." Now this is pretty genius because nowhere on their app store does it say that your receipts are being scanned and aggregated to sell to third party services for consumer spending habit data. I'm sure they've got some generic "your data is our data" disclaimer, but that's another story. Now, the question is how reliable is this data? I'd never heard of the app until I looked up @sliceintel (I'm an android user) so I assumed it would be heavily skewed toward IOS/Apple users. It doesn't appear that I'm able to view overall downloads of an IOS app, so we'll go by review numbers. IOS; about 8000 reviews, Android 15.4k (1MM-5MM downloads). So, in an effort to prove to myself that my not investing in AAPL stock was smart, thinking that these sales would be horrible.. well, I pretty much stuck my head up my own ass and they're probably way better than anyone expected if @slice has 2-4x the amount of Android users who I assumed would be less likely to jump on Apple products over IOS users. But then here I am an android user with a MBPr.

    • @KidToysAreFun
      @KidToysAreFun 7 років тому

      Wouldn't the sales be because this is the first re-design, or notable change (Retina screen), since 2012? It's the reason I want to replace my 2012 MBP.

    I actually think that the star of the show here was the monitor. It is really cool to have a laptop and then when you go home and try to use it as a desktop to have to plug only one cable in it! This thing can charge your laptop, carry signal and be a USB hub (to hook up your mouse/keyboard, external storage, speakers, etc) using only one cable! WOW!

  • @coldcallers5138
    @coldcallers5138 7 років тому +6

    Hi,I love your videos and the fact that you highlighted all the shortcomings about the new Macbook. Notice I didn't say Pro because it's not a Pro in my opinion because without dongles it doesn't cater to the true professional whereas Macbook Pros of the past did that straight out of the box. Plus with the unjustified price hike and the fact that you have to buy and carry around all these expensive dongles has honestly made me love my 2013 MacBook Pro even more. To put it in perspective my 2013 MacBook Pro fully specced out to the max was around £1650, today if I fully spec out the new Macbook it will cost me £2199! And then I have to spend a few hundred more bucks to buy all those dongles, not to mention I then have to buy 2 more adapters to charge my iPhone 7 and use my earpods on the Mac. I honestly hand on heart could not recommend this to anyone, not yet anyway.

I especially appreciate the trackpad mention, the clarity on the keyboard, and the time you spent explaining the touch bar. Again, not seen elsewhere. They made the damn trackpad so big why not just stick a flipping iPad screen in there with a 3d touch sensor so you can actually use it instead of buying an external pad like Wacom. Maybe their Apple Pencil will actually sell better. I know I know, "WHO WOULD PUT A TOUCHSCREEN SO FAR DOWN TO DIVERT YOUR EYES FROM THE SCREEN" Well, Apple would. It's called the touchbar. It's in what I call the "no-look" zone. Nobody looks at the keyboard when typing, or at least that's the idea for productivity and the whole invention of keyboard shortcuts.

    Will be interesting to see if Apple lowers the price on the 2017 models... These things are in a price range of their own when you start to upgrade them with better processor, storage and RAM...

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 7 років тому +1

      They might go down but how i look at it is a Flagship Model. You see this with Headphones, ones that can cost Thousands of Dollars and then ones of a similar design that only cost a few Hundred. I mean if your a professional editor or something like that the price justifies itself like if your a professional Audio Engineer, your going to want the best and money becomes less of an issue, specially if your count it as a business expense.
      An Average Consumer should still look at buying the 2015 models that basically do everything the same at half the price. A couple major differences yes but thats the price difference.

    • @bashirwada
      @bashirwada 7 років тому

      Problem is, no sane, well informed "professional editor" or "audio engineer" would get a macbook pro unless there's some software on osx which they absolutely NEED, and even then I'd get one of the previous models. the 2016 versions are absolute shite.
      Apple is incredible at marketing mediocre products as premium products, giving them a premium price tag too, it's simply not worth the money in this day and age with so many different, much cheaper options available.

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 7 років тому

      Bashir Wada I prefer Macs for their optimised Software and Speeds. Plenty of tests out there showing MacBooks out preforming other Laptops that are almost double the specs and using dup files for the tests, with both preferred and none preferred programs and Apple comes out of top a lot of the time.

    • @bashirwada
      @bashirwada 7 років тому

      *****
      Optimisation only does so much, it isn't some magic technique, I'd like to see your $4300 macbook pro outperforming a laptop with a gtx 1080 and a i7 6700 which costs $1400 and outperforms it in any real world tests and editing or whatever you want.

    • @burns0100
      @burns0100 7 років тому +1

      Bashir Wada I paid 2500 for my 2015 model and you say 1080 and i7 but i just explained to another guy that just because you have 32gb of RAM and a 2TB HHD doesn't mean your PC is better. 1080s are good but i still think any computer be it Apple or Windows, if its set up right can easily out preform higher specs that aren't.

    mag safe is gone, that isn't very good, 2015 macbook pro is actually better, the only thing that would be nice is touch ID and touch bar

    • @kevinhodgson2764
      @kevinhodgson2764 7 років тому +2

      Mag safe is gone, but you can charge it from either the left or the right hand side so the cable doesn't get damaged having to twist it into the charging port. Its a trade off, and as someone who owns an older macbook as well as the new macbook pro, I'd say they're both just as good as a charging feature.

    • @gtb81.
      @gtb81. 7 років тому +1

      Kevin Hodgson until you trip over the cord, it will either damage the computer or the cord, possibly both, also you have to buy other adapters just to do basic things

    • @kevinhodgson2764
      @kevinhodgson2764 7 років тому +1

      the destroyer TBH I've never really cared about magsafe all that much. Whenever Ive had a latpop without magsafe, I just unplug the charger if I'm need to move the laptop, its not that big a deal, even though it is nice to have. Also, adapters aren't expensive, I bought one for £10 that has a pair of USBs and a HDMI and thats pretty much everything I'll need whilst having more USB C ports left over for other stuff. These points are just nitpicks, minor inconveniences at the worst. The other improvements of this mac more than make up for its other tradeoffs.

    Although I don't there are so many people that don't like the new MBP, apple's reasons for making it like this actually makes sense and maybe the price is too high at the moment but it's a solid good laptop. Some people say the specs of it isn't that good but lets not forgot that mac OS doesn't necessarily need an intense amount of specs unless you do hardcore stuff like video editing but other than that, its smooth.
    Plus I'm down for the USB type C cause if you remember, MKBHD also said it's gonna take over the all types of connection (USB 3.0 ,Micro USB , HDMI, Charging, etc) which makes it simpler, cleaner and better for user experience cause now you don't necessarily need the official charger and you can charge at any thunderbolt output which is better.
    Again maybe the price is really high, but also it's an investment as time passes by, other types of wired connections will slowly perish so the dongle life is for now (unless you use old hardware then you don't need the new MBP and can get the old ones which are really good) and later on you won't need dongles cause all you will have is USB C.

      Abdalrahim Abdullah You are completely right, I agree with you. Can't wait to see all devices having usb C. Maybe apple should put 2 of them in the next macbook upgrade..

    • @bashirwada
      @bashirwada 7 років тому +3

      The change to usb type c is going to take a few YEARS at least, 3 minimum, I bet my life on it, apple is doing this simply out of greed.
      The macbook pro simply has too many cons to even be called a "premium" product, calling it mediocre would even be an exaggeration, I wouldn't pay $700 for the thing, but as I keep saying, apple is great at marketing mediocre products as premium products to their loyal, ignorant fanboys.

      @Thisath100 7 років тому +1

      ***** Aaaaand, no. I probably know it better than you, I've been using Macs for way longer than you have judging by comments on other threads. Sorry.
      Either way, while I didn't particularly have a big issue with using the trackpad on the new MacBook Pro when I used it, gestures don't require such a huge space, the old one was actually big enough. It's simply too big. Contrary to what Apple (and you?) think, bigger isn't always better, as almost all the reviewers are complaining about that issue.
