      Kalen1457 That’s why I’m planning to buy the one without a touch bar, it’s 200+ for no reason, on such a gimmicky feature that won’t even be practical. I right now own the 13’’ for 2015. Time to get change

      W1cH0 99 It holds up pretty well! I have no issues with it, it’s fast and smooth and does all what I need as well as PORTS, it’s the best laptop I’ve owned so far, but I’ve the 128GB SSD model, which I don’t find enough nor carry around an external SD so despite the lack of ports on the new one I’m planning to buy The 128SSD model of it, the 2017 MBP Silver :D in a few months

      I just got the 2017 model without touchbar last Friday after my 2015 MacBook Air died. It's great! The ports thing aren't really an issue anymore. Most stores sell the adapters nowadays. Went to my local Euroland (comparable to Dollar Tree) and got myself a USB-C to USB 3.0 hub for 3 bucks and it works absolutely fine. You don't need to buy everything OEM cause that'll just set you off so much money.

    Just bought the MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago and I'm so in love with it. I've had a HP for the longest that only cost $400 and it was time for a new laptop. It was slow, unreliable, and old. This is definitely a great investment and I'm going to use this laptop to my advantage!

    In the UK, the MacBook Pro base model used to be £1149, now the base model £1499. Which isn't even the one you'd want to buy. The base touch bar model is £1749. In USD that's $2166.29. God damn.

      Avais Hussain base model now starts with 256 gb ssd unlike before which was 128 gb so there isn't really a difference there if you add the extra cost. And for the touch bar one, well, it has better processor and graphics unit and 4 thunderbolt 3 so the price hike is to be expected. But it's true, they are overpriced. Just not overpriced in comparison to last years, they are overpriced a bit in general

    • @numbersletters1442
      @numbersletters1442 7 років тому

      No.. Everything got a price bump unfortunately. Same model.

    • @DrummerBoii1411
      @DrummerBoii1411 7 років тому

      Admiral Ashik When I got my MacBook 256GB SSD, i5 2.7GHz 8GB 1600mhz, it was £1199. The base model MacBook Pro with no touch bar is basically a glorified MacBook Air with upgrade and new design.. as per all reviews conducted by UA-camrs. The MacBook Pro with TouchBar is the true base MacBook Pro. And that's £1749 for 256GB SSD. Sooooo make your conclusion :) I really believe they've pushed the pricing too far. Even with the upgrades of skylake etc they have still gone too far because as tech gets older it gets cheaper.. if you base upgrades MacBooks on the fact that the new mac has the latest technology. But they have that every year therefore they should be worth over 2000 just on base models.. there's overpricing but there's logical overpricing too.. apple haven't logically overpriced but used their trickery MacBook lineup as a way to get more money while overpricing. Lol their marketing and pricing is a class none are better than 😂😂

    right now I'm using the mbp 2016 without touch bar, it's my first Mac and I love it. I got it for university as I need a pc and my old windows machine is just horrible. it was quite a hefty price considering you get a underpowered machine in comparison to windows machines, you don't get the new touch bar and have only two usb c ports which might seem like a bad deal for most people, but I can deal with it, in fact I gave this buy a long thought and knew that I wanted this one. I really liked the style and look of the chassis, the trackpad, the keyboard, the Retina display, that it look too clumsy with the removed ports (I don't need usb sticks often and have for those cases a small usb dongle), the power is ok as I can imagine that the toucher models are better but it gets every single work done and never disappoints me (I'm an engineering student and use a lot of windows in bootcamp to do my assignments for class). it would just have been cool if apple gave you some kind of fabric to clean the display for such a expensive price as it gets dirty very easily or deliver it with a set of dongles, but I guess that's just me :D

    • @dodo19923
      @dodo19923 7 років тому +4

      i think the set of dongles is a good idea, for the price the dongles cost to make, maybe a multipack with a few different ones for one price, they do screw you a bit with the buy this for this and that for that. The price thing for the actual mbp will always have haters, tbh, so what. i hear all the time, but the dell xps, DELL XPS. soo much better, but the build quality is nowhere near mbp, and this comes from a f***ing xps user.

    I got the same MacBook in silver without the touch bar that was a year ago around August before my classes start on September 5th as college student. Ironically I am watching your video from my MacBook Pro, and it has been working pretty well especially the keys feels super nice. Also, it is my first MacBook and laptop I'm thinking of getting an actual laptop sleeve for my MacBook Pro for extra protection since I cannot trust with just keeping a hardshell case on my computer. There must be extra protection.

    Love my 2013 13"MacBook Pro. Considered getting this one as I don't need the touchbar. It is hard to justify this over the one that I already have. I use normal USB daily and use the HDMI and SD card reader every day as well. Plus I am happy with the speed of mine as well. It works well and there is nothing wrong with it. Looks like I am staying put for now.

    I was actually waiting for a 2019 refresh of the MacBook Pro 13-inch Retina model but Apple rather killed the whole line along with the 12-inch Macbook. Rather than pay extra for the Touchbar, I went for a higher capacity SSD with 16GB of RAM. No regrets! I love it!

    • @austinmcnair612
      @austinmcnair612 7 років тому +23

      In general, you can view the Other Mac's hard drive and share stuff between macs. Power transfer only happens if one mac is very low and the other is about 50% (I could be wrong).
      When you connect 2 macs, it should make a window come up asking what you want to do. You're able to do stuff like transfer files, browse the system, copy your entire system to another (like an upgrade), diagnose another machine, install a new OS, and maybe more if they updated that functionality. In theory, you may be able to share power with the mac that has the lowest battery. If one is connected to a power source, it may channel energy through that as well.
      USB-C should be a smart connector, meaning that it can tell what you're trying to do based on how you plug the cable in. If you plug into Mac1 first and then Mac2, it may detect that as that direction and bring the file window up on Mac1. It should bring another on Mac2 asking for authorization.

    Just bought this model. Thin and light but more powerful than the 12" MacBook with a larger/better display. That said it's too damn expensive. I only bought it because there was an open box one on Best Buy's website for $1,149 (And I still had a $250 BB card so that got the cost down to $900). Before anyone dismisses it out of hand because of specs . . . you really should do a hands on. The PCIe SSD in it is wicked fast and the display is flat out gorgeous.

      Because, it's Apple. Not only do they meticulously make their products, they meticulously make the gosh darn packaging. So then do you really think they put it randomly floating around underneath? Where is your head?

    I was having a bit of a dream looking at the online store earlier, what I found sorta interesting is that the touchbar one starts with a 256GB SSD and the touchbar one a 128GB. If you're looking at getting the non-touchpad and then add in a 256GB SSD it suddenly looks a lot closer to the entry-level touchpad one at that point.
    Edit: I know that's why it's cheaper, etc., just for me with the extra ports, etc. on the touchbar model, taking the SSD into account made the extra to step up to the touchbar seem more sensible. Though why they insist on limiting the entry level machine to two ports, I dunno. Seems kinda tight.

    Apple logic, to save 3 millimeters that you will never notice during actual use they force you to give up on connectivity and speed. Point is that you will never notice that the notebook is a little thinnier, but you will definitely notice how inconvenient is to use a dongle for EVERYTHING.
    Also, apparently they are having some really serius problems with dongles right now, not to mention the CRAZY prices of various dongles even after the discount. Damn for the price of the computer they should all come free...

      3mm was never an issue I think. Check lenovo yoga 900. It's the same 14.9mm and it contains USB-A port right there. Removing ports was only due to apple "courage".

      Very well said. I remember when I was a craftsman I had a sign that read: "Please don't ask for a rush job. All rush jobs come out shitty. Months from now you will remember it was a shitty job but not a rush job". Maybe some pretzel logic can apply that here.

    Hi, I watched other videos that showing that the extension cable for your charger is underneath the plastic thingy where they rest the MacBook, it's inside the box. Would you confirm it?

    Can someone answer me this question? I currently own a 15" MacBook Pro which is hooked up to an Ultrawide LG 34UC97 Thunderbolt display most of the time. Will this monitor power the new Macbook Pro if I get an Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter through only one cable, which would be my dream setup?

    they dropped all the super handy features: no magsafe, no cut out for the glowing apple logo, no card reader, no regular usb, no hdmi, no tb, no cable bracket on the charger, 4 io ports vs 6 io ports + charging port on the old one
    -> by doing so, they dropped the production costs... for a much higher end price.
    crazy apple, who is going to buy that shit?

      None of those things drop production price. The new design would put production costs through the roof. Next year this same Macbook will be cheaper and I bet on that, its basic business.

    Look under the tray in your box for the three-prong extension cord; another reviewer found it under there. You'll need to cut the glue.
