The initial requirements seem pretty easy. When I applied for my academy the initial (Age 20-29) 1.5 Mile Run was *13:58* . My last PT Test the week before Graduation, I ran a *10:07*
@@angelornelas6580 Honestly I don't think its that hard, I mean, yes, I will have to train, but you just have to show that you CAN if you get what I mean, not so much what you CAN do, but your motivation I guess...
Here the physic test for cops is: 35 pushup in 30 seconds 55 sit up in 60 seconds 2 kilometers in 7:45 minutes And 2.50 meter jumping (Male version in hungary)
I love these instructors acting like they’re cultivating the next batch of Navy SEALs ,don’t give me wrong physical fitness is certainly an important part of the job. You need to make sure that you’re hiring candidates with strong moral integrity, more than basic intelligence, and proper mindset of protecting and service.
That’s more on the Educators to focus on, these instructors focus more on the physical aspect which is just a part of the training. But it is really funny hearing “Zero, Zero, Zero”
Columbus PD made us break the plain (past knees with elbows) for our sit ups. My first PT test i took on my 28th sit up my fingers came apart, and i failed by 1. 2 weeks later took the test again and passed with 32 with no issue.
I remember running from police in my retarded days. Some of those police should not have been on the street because they were not in shape. I actually let one catch me once a got rid of what I was holding. It took a whole 45 seconds for him to catch up to me. He was wheezing and hacking terrible.
I'm 18 years old and never thought about becoming a police officer. I weigh around 250lbs I can run a mile i do sit ups just fine. It's the push ups and pull ups I struggle on. I'm gonna start losing weight and work on my pull ups and pushups. Were would I get started on this adventure?
Push-ups become easy after awhile. Don't work on purely regular form either, integrate diamonds and wide push-ups too. Do 50 of each form. Progressively go from 150 - 300 and if you feel as though you're set for that. You can continue to add on. For the beginning, focus on counting. But as a certain point, stop counting. And just start doing them BUT do not end up doing less just because you don't have a number to them. It's easy to lower the bar once you don't have a set goal to achieve. Just do as many as your body allows, but make sure to take consistent breaks. They will build up your overall upper body, and hit the muscles that aren't usually hit while doing normal push-ups. That doesn't mean they're any less important. Just don't forget to do each form. You'll be doing insane amounts of push-ups as a result. Trust. Pull-ups are a different story, someone else might have some good insight to provide on it. I'm meh with them.
im begining my training now for the test I have a long way to go for the mile and half run everything else is not a concern for me but the run is, what do you guys recommend is the best training for the mile run besides treadmill walking / running.
How long between exercises do we have? And oh no I think I'd have a hard time with a mile and a half run...hmm who knows. Also a mile and a half on a track would be 4 + laps
I think it's cuz most of them are super fit to try and become an officer and then after a few years they think they don't gotta try anymore so they just gain all that weight
Holy shit, why are the female exercise requirements so much less than a male ? Do suspects run slower or fight less hard when a female officer is involved ?
Zero!...zero!....zero...oh ma gawrd! Drill sgt. Memories are coming back...ahhhh....sir! yes sir! Good! 1,2,3,ZERO!,4,ZERO!,ZERO! START OVER AGAIN! MAHHH! Just a dreammm...thank God its over!
Training is different than educating. Generally, training means teaching police officers to react to a given situation in the field. Education involves developing the mental and moral tools police officers should possess to build strong relationships with the community. It will teach police officers to think about their response to various problems based on vast amounts of knowledge and then take thoughtful action to resolve a problem. What they need is educating them on our Constitutional rights. Police officers enter their profession by taking an oath to the U.S. Constitution. So why is there no concerted effort to make police constitutionally literate? Just think about how much better the police-community relations would be if police were constitutionally literate. Constitutional literacy entails knowing the Constitution sufficiently well enough to invoke it properly. Those who take an oath to the Constitution have the responsibility to know its contents and interpretations of it, such as court decisions that are professionally relevant. There's a lot of men and women that have a career in policing without ever even reading the Constitution. So how sincere is one's oath to the Constitution if one hasn't read it or doesn't understand it? First of all, police academies should replace the standard five to six months of training with a two-year curriculum. In addition to the necessary physical, firearms, and tactics training, recruits should take classes that you might typically find in an undergraduate program - from criminal and constitutional law to sociology, psychology, and conflict resolution. A clear understanding of the nature of the society they will serve, and all its complexities are fundamental to any member of a service profession. By doing a simple search on UA-cam and watching a few videos of "First Amendment Audits" you can plainly see how ignorant most police officers are when it comes to our rights. So more education is needed, not just training. www.policechiefmagazine.org/education-offers-best-solution-for-police-misconduct/
