Are Mike Chen Recommendations in Singapore REALLY Good?

- Meeting Mike Chen from Strictly Dumpling for the first time and trying out some of his hawker and restaurant food recommendations in Singapore! I was invited to the Michelin Award Ceremony and surprised to meet one of my favorite UA-camrs. I was fan-boying like crazy and I know that is difficult to watch but I did try some of his recommendations. Enjoy!

Da Xi is such an underrated restaurant chain. I was so happy they opened one in Jurong Point but they closed down only after a few months due to underwhelming response from the crowd. I think it's because their menu is small but man their food is good. Please show them some support so they dont pull out of Singapore entirely!

It felt like I was just arms reach of Thailand, India, Tibet, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Korea just all of you down there! The best chicken rice in Singapore has to be the 169 Hainanese Chicken Rice stall in Chinatown Complex. Just beware of the super long queue during lunch hours!

I was in sg recently, we had a huge list to try from all the greats, Mike Chen, Mark wiens, Greg leow etc.
Needles to say we ate like kings and were not disappointed

If you like Turkish food there's a new stall in Alexandra FC that has great kebabs, really affordable too (if I remember correctly it's 2 for $10).
If I may offer some advice when tasting and describing food, start with the blandest items and work up to the spicier (or stronger tasting) because it is very difficult to reset your palate after strong flavors. You might have actually liked the dumpling soup if you had started with it. Same goes for tasting beer and wine, too.

If you wanted to eat what Xing recommended. Just head to the frozen section of the supermarket. It will be the best thing you've ever had (his words not mine).

Mikey’s recos are not good. I have tried his suggestions in Japan, they were average at best. His videos are good to watch though
