@DocRea Thank you so much 🎉 doing this video…. You are truly the best of the best 😊 from Ohio
Thank you so much for these videos!! It is so helpful for someone qualified to go into such detail and has helped me decipher some of the dog food labels. Do you mind doing a Zignature dog food review if possible?
Sure!
Thanks for your informative videos! I'd be interested to see your review of the grain inclusive farmina dry foods for cats and dogs (the chicken, spelt, oats and pomegranate seeds recipes)

What’s the best cat food I can purchase for a 6 month old sphynx cat
I don’t think I’ve reviewed any kitten foods, I’ll have to look into it
thank you!!@@AnimalDocRea
About the cat food chart I use it when a new cat food is introduced to me or given to as a gift for my cats. I need to ask you if the kittens have different food chart or is it the same chart?
I value you, tons of thanks!
There is a chart specifically for kittens. Check the nutrition text in the description box.
I found another food "Old Guard dog pet food company" Dr maggie Gooding her recipes to your test it's quite expensive. Thank you
I did a little inspection of the website and it sounds great! I emailed them for the numbers so we will see!
Woof! #1
Yes, you were first today! Thanks for watching.
@@AnimalDocRea Arf! . (my bad). 😊.
Hey I LOVE your nutritional videos and was really hoping you would be willing to do a more niche video for working dogs. I have found extremely inconsistent information about that and have working LGD’s and Dr Gary’s is one of the few that has a specific food for working dogs but I have no idea if it’s good or not since the comparisons aren’t there and as someone who has not attended veterinary school I have no idea what an appropriate baseline is. An additional issue is working dogs as puppies. These dogs are huge and athletic but don’t eat very much and are ‘grazers’ therefore the sheer volume of puppy food generally recommended is not realistic- no matter how much they like the food it’s hard enough to get 2 cups a day in while they’re growing. In an effort to help along the chore of adequately feeding them we have been giving the puppies (4 months and up) adult food as well. Can you please advise?

It seems that there is a trend with these diets not meeting optimal adult requirements because most of them are formulated for all life stages, but they probably could work for puppies/kittens. I call this lazy practice. They're already not doing any feeding trials, so why don't they use the computer system to help make an adult maintenance diet?
I’m assuming it costs more than they are willing to pay and to give consumers the “ingredients” they want it may not be possible
@@AnimalDocRea I will say this bluntly: people should should start to understand that science is driven by what's best for the animal based on evidence, and not what they "want".
@@George.J Most people are going to believe what they want to believe, regardless of "science."
@@edschulhof6303 I think that is because the average person is bombarded with misinformation left and right, and many don't know how to assess and understand a scientific paper (It's not their fault, they just never got that type of education). Confirmation bias also plays a role.
I 100% agree that the majority people are not trained in reading scientific papers ( more obvious since Covid) Yes there is number bias in papers, that’s why knowing how to read the paper is almost more important than a paper itself. But those trained know and factor that in. So yes it is not the persons fault they do not understand the paper correctly , but I also totally believe it is their fault that they don’t know or accept knowing what they don’t know.
Happy Purrsday! You want us to use our brains? That is asking a lot! LOL The first ingredient of the cat food is Chicken Meal. 33% carbs. High on the calcium and phosphorus. A half cup of food a day for a 10 pound cat is not going make them feel full. They will be crying all the time. Fresh chicken thighs are $1.79 a pound. A 4 ounce chicken thigh has 207 calories, 28% protein, no carbs. That is a nice looking chair.
As far as carbs go, there is no published data what the “right” amount is. I’ve looked and it’s only established for pregnant and lactating cats.
@@AnimalDocRea That is true. Carbs are turned into glucose. Too much is not good for cats. According to Dr. Brennen McKenzie, MA, MSc, VMD, cVMA, in "Veterinary Practice News" May 26, 2022, low carb diets can help cats with diabetes. Excess carbs can also lead to being overweight. Dr. McKenzie also says, "the problem with low carb cat diets, is too much fat is added to make up for the lower carbs." Another reason I feed fresh chicken, ground beef and a wet cat food, low in calcium, phosphorus and 3% carbs.
