Thank you for the videos. Could you possibly do one on window hammocks for cats. ❤❤
@@Mark-rd1it Very soon!
I put more thought into feeding my cat and dog than I do myself, tbh
Same 😂
same 😂 I love my animals they diserver the best they give the best love
Same and I'm a human dietitian 😬
I've been feeding mine Smalls frozen for a few months now, only 1 flavor, chicken, and they love it, doing really well.
I stayed up way too late watching all the Shorts and now I’m here again lol.
I was ordering from Smalls. It was costing me approximately $9 per day for my two kitties. One of my kitties got a bacterial infection in it's gall bladder. Not sure if it was the food or something else. She is only 1.5 years old and cost a mini fortune to hospitalized her, medicines, IVs, ultrasounds, bloodwork etc. I've decided to ween the kitties off Smalls to tinned catfood, which is cheaper per day. I've tried Raw Instincts. My older kitty does not care for the Rabbit formula (throws up everywhere), but like the original and salmon. I'm going to try Tiki Cat since those have more crude protein. We'll see how it goes. I still have a few Smalls bars which I'll feed the older kitty until I run out.
Ugh, sorry you went through that. Wishing you and your cats all the best.
yo Mallory, you guys have really outdone yourself on the editing on this video. It was made very well! Definitely one of my favorite non Wessie/Forest centered videos so far (they need more xD). p.s. my cats say they like the new hairstyle 👍
Thanks for noticing, Chum. It was fun to do a little extra this time. :)
Thank You. Very informative.
Mallory, Can you test cat supplements? L Lysine, UTI/kidney, hairball supplements, fortiflora/probiotics, joint supplements (consequin, dasuquin), dental supplements (plaque off), fish oil?
I’ve been feeding my cat smalls for months, and she loves it! They’ve replaced their old packaging which had some complaints with a new version that I absolutely love! However I didn’t know they use canola oil, that is kind of a bummer.
Not gonna lie, I've consider trying one or two of these out when we're in a better spot financially. I know in the long run going raw is probably cheaper, but the upfront of a grinder and storage is offputting presently. Our side by side fridge freezer barely holds our needs and their treats that need thawing . . .I don't have space to properly store homemade serverings + the extra leftover organ meet and such.
I think viva raw should be in this list😊
Great stuff M!
Thanks, Joey!
I read ‘Smooth Crow’ instead of ‘Smooth Cow’! To be honest was pretty impressed. 😂
Peas are used as a Fiber I believe in many recipes. It helps your pet have regular bowl movements.
My cats are so carb addicted that they hate any new food I bring in. One cat is obese and the other is so picky. She will eat maybe a tsp of canned cat food at a time. It is very frustrating trying to get them off dried cat food. I did get them the Dr. Elsey's dried cat food just to increase their protein and lower the carbs, but my obese cat just does not lose weight and now I think he has diabetes.
Could you do a video on viva raw, I’ve heard good things about that food but would like your opinion
They add peas to increase % of protein. Good video!
Hey Mallory, have you done a review of the Costco Kirkland Pate catfood yet?😊
Not a full review, but I did post a short here: ua-cam.com/video/dtPTlry3-gk/v-deo.html
Although I live in the UK this was interesting to watch. What I have found though is that cats are carnivorous and shouldn't be eating plants etc, so I actually have stuck to ordering normal cat meat from a company that don't use plant based ingredients to make it as close to a natural diet as I can for them, there food has 5 ingredients in it. Meat, meat, meat, taurine and natural flavouring. Although natural flavours isn't specific to what it is, it's last on the ingredients, so has the least in and the food is still better than most others without feeding a raw food diet.
What about Feline Natural? That's what I've been feeding our two. They prefer the lamb feast and lamb and king salmon. They don't seem to like the chicken or beef. It is also expensive but the ingredients are very high quality and species appropriate. I will also shake some of their freeze dried food on top of the wet food for additional texture and nutrition.
I really like Feline Natural. My cats aren't huge fans of the flavor, and it's incredibly expensive (plus seems to go out of stock pretty frequently), but the quality is hard to beat. Good choice.
I .ike that green fish bowl
Thank you for the time you take to inform yourself so you can, in turn, inform us!!!😉
Could you review Coshida pure taste complete cat food meet selection 😊
My kitty Aleksandr is fussy he loves his blue Buffalo dry and I alternate wet food❤❤
Have you tried a raised bowl? We finally got one and seems to help Bebe and her recent vomiting issues. She's 18 now with CKD and started vomiting more. She drinks a lot of water so I was considering getting one of those fountain style units with a filter.
Switch ours to Identity food, they love it and it's good for them.
@@vicgeier3482 I'll get some and try it. I have a specialty cat food store near me that has it. Thanks.
Yes, I've tried raised bowls before-haven't really noticed a difference, but if it works for you, that's great.
I just found this channel through old posts! I know this isn't the place, but how do I stop my spayed cat from spraying? She's grieving the loss of her and my BFF, Loki. Her grieving is attack my cat Esme more, And make everywhere her territory. Lil Napoliana. Anyway, I'm desperate. If anyone here has advice or can point me to a video, I'd be so grateful. She's even started spraying the walls, behind the cat castle. It's effecting my relationship, as well.
Would like to get a sample first. Is it possible. I have 4 cats and gone through over 40 different wet foods. Two of my cats won’t eat any. One ate baby food only. One ate most.
What would you recommend for a delivery service for 5 cats
So my cats like really like Just Food For Cats and My Perfect Pet both Turkey and Beef. They don’t like Raised Right and when I tried Smalls I wasn’t having much luck convincing my cats to like it. But they have improved their foods. But then I don’t like Canola oil and the subscription obligation. My Perfect Pet I buy from a boutique in La Jolla, CA called Bella Woof. I have 2 cats and I actually find the food very expensive with only 10 bars in a $36.00 bag. So I only feed it to my cats a few times a week for dinner. Once or twice a week only they get Just Food for Cats because it’s very fishy and I don’t want my cats addicted to it. The rest of the time my cats get a mix of canned foods and Simple Food Project freeze dried raw and limited amounts of dry food.
How bout a video on making your own raw food?
I've seen a couple videos on that around the tubes, but not one from anyone as expert as this channel.
Does it need a grinder, a food processor, or just a knife and strong wrist?
What kinds of meats/organs/additives?
Storage and serving?
Here's one I liked, mostly: ua-cam.com/video/6U8L4ncTv08/v-deo.html
I used smalls and my cats ate it the first time but when the second shipment came they just wouldn't touch it and I had to give it away. I think it's because they get tired of the same thing and so it is hard to stay in a subscription when every month I have to switch it up. And one of my cats will not eat lunch if it's the same thing she ate for breakfast, she just turns her head up and looks at you and walks off.
That's a really good observation.
Some cats just seem to prefer variety. I find it a little strange there's the big insistance that cat's stomaches are so sensitive they should eat one food and one food only. Maybe that's true for some. . .but I doubt as many as people claim. I at least try to give our two boys different flavors of things. . .and they get tid bits of our proteins when I cook and any variety of healthy treat I can find them. . .they don't typically turn their nose up at the variety. If anything, they seem excited by it.
I'm doing my weekly/fortnightly cat food shop tomorrow and I was thinking about getting just a pack of minced beef they have for human consumption to add to my cat's meals. I heard you say it was disappointing that one of the brands didn't have meat from organs so I was wondering if adding something like mince is a good idea? (Sorry, I think you say "ground" rather than "minced" in the US!)
Hi Loretta! I wouldn't recommend buying pre-ground (or minced!) food for your cat. Because it's made for human consumption, the expectation is that this food will be cooked before it's eaten, and the processing equipment is maintained with that in mind. This means that it's more likely to be contaminated. You're right that it's good to fortify your cat's food with some organs and varied meats, but perhaps a pack of fresh gizzards and/or a little bit of liver would be a safer choice. Hope this helps!
@@AllAboutCatsYT thanks so much - great advice I'd have never thought of. Thankfully, I live very close to a market, maybe it's time to see what's being sold in the butcher's building as there's quite a bit of variety. Thanks again!☺️👏
My cat used to love Smalls but they changed their recipes to add liver the chicken and other bird,....and now he hates it.
Wait...did you notice on the ingredients list for a My Perfect Pet Food flavor, there was NO Taurine listed! I thought cats absolutely needed Taurine. How can it conform to the current official veterinary standard?
I need some advice on a good quality cat food for my cat that has kidney disease. I do not like Royal Canin or Science Diet. The ingredients is junk. Please help.
Sorry I missed this when you first commented! Here's our article on the subject: cats.com/best-cat-food-for-kidney-disease
Good information but unsure my cat would eat human grade cat food. So picky..Vet recommended UR diet but she's not wanting to eat that, either so I give her regular wet food but the UR dry food and treats. Hopefully this works well enough to dissolve that tiny stone. Are these foods more acidic than regular cat food like UR diet cat food? My cat is 15 so that explains some of this.
They are more acidic than a lot of plant-heavy traditional foods, but they're not specifically formulated for cats with urinary issues. Nonetheless, I suspect that a higher-moisture, lower-plant diet would go a long way in helping to support urinary tract health. Regarding palatability, I will say that most cats love human-grade, fresh food-if she likes table scraps, she'll like these. Wishing you all the best!
@@AllAboutCatsYT yeah, bacon, butter and aged cheese like cheddar lol
Mine have severe allergies so feeding them commercial is a nightmare.
My 3 cats hated smalls they did not liked any of the flavors 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
No calorie info, I’ve got a thyroid problem cat so high calorie I’ve been looking for
Thanks for pointing that out. Smalls' turkey recipe is among our top recommendations for cats with hyperthyroidism, and it's quite calorie-dense at 40 calories per ounce. You might also like our list of the best cat food for hyperthyroidism here: cats.com/best-cat-food-for-hyperthyroidism
As for the other foods:
Just Food for Cats: 42 calories per ounce
Milk Cat Food: 43 calories per ounce
Raised Right (Turkey): 47 calories per ounce
My Perfect Pet (Turkey): 57 calories per ounce
I tried smalls, my cats wouldn't even try it. Some of the packages arrived thawed and they told me to refreeze them I was not impressed.
Disappointing. Thanks for sharing.
My 2 cats didn't like it, either. I ended up giving a lot of it away to my sister for her cat. I'm not sure if her cat ate it.
I just give my cat albacore tuna and sardines , am I doing something wrong , every once in a while I give her cat food
So disappointing that only one has a protein other than chicken & turkey. Smalls has pork. Two of my four cats have food allergies. One can’t have chicken the other can have only novel proteins.
Hi Mal- ok so this is a great video but i have to say all these brands are disappointing ( at least to my spoiled brat) i dont hear good things of smalls since they launched , just food for cats is the WORST food - i have a store walking distance & at petco ; its only 1 formula & it says chicken & yet every type of seafood is in it !! Ridiculous . I am also with the other person in this thread: what if your cat loves gravy/ what do u do?? Im still feeding my cat wellness & nulo- both he loves . Happy memorial day !!!!
Hi Sergio. Smalls definitely has had some issues with fulfillment and customer service, but my recent deliveries have been better, so I wanted to give them a second chance. There isn't really a good solution for gravy lovers in this category; maybe adding some broth would work, but I've not found anything that really satisfies that texture need.
It’s all BUSINESS!!
I Dont do SUBSCRIPTIONS !!
I Dont do SUBSCRIPTIONS !¡
Cat "food" is .78 cents a can. Tuna is .98 cents a can..
I agree. Too expensive 😬

This lady acts like owning "cats" name on youtube means she can talk with cats and she's THE specialist here. But it's just her way to make income and free food for cats, different every week or so. I hope your cats are fine with these changes, glory to your channel lol. YUP just a comment, don't go too crazy about it
Hey, Mallory here. To be clear, this isn't just me. Cats.com is a publication like any other, producing educational cat content in a range of mediums and places, including a website and this UA-cam channel. We work with a variety of cat experts and industry leaders to share insights on cat topics, and no single contributor (myself included) should or wants to be seen as "the" sole voice for/on cats. There's no deception or pretense here. It's just a job, no different from any other media or education-focused role. I hope this clears things up a little.
