  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. A business trip to Barcelona catalysed a new journey for this former government consultant to open up a Spanish restaurant and deli in central Liverpool. You'll love hearing about Peter's near-death journey in establishing Lunya, where he and his wife Elaine risk it all to achieve a life dream..
Peter is the Executive Chef of Lunya, one of the UK's leading Spanish Restaurants and recently crowned the Good Food Guide’s North West Restaurant of the Year. He co-founded Lunya with his wife Elaine. For most of his life, Peter worked in Health & Social Services working with governments across the world encouraging them to change their care systems to modern, person centred alternatives. It was on one of these trips to Barcelona that catalysed his love of Catalan culture. Five years later Lunya was born.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Looked for this after an amazing food experience with my family at Lunya Manchester on Thursday last week after my PhD graduation at The University of Manchester. Great atmosphere, great food. We saw Peter, never realised he was the owner until I watched this video. He was just working like any other of his workers and no one seemed scared their 'boss' was there. Some of the best restaurant food I have ever had. Great stuff, Peter. My family and I will definitely be eating out at Lunya a few more times in the future. Just hoping you will be opening a few more Lunyas in London and Edinburgh - places I also tend to visit.
