That would be a little bit too informative for a new player. That will be too much information early on. But an amazing suggestion for players in pool 2-3
Alex, no wonder your presentation skills are outstanding, you're a teacher! You also hit it on the head for F2P - If the game is fun enough you don't need to have people spend thousands for pay to win. Great episode and I can't wait to see the rest!
I definitely agree with that. I just started playing earlier this week, and already spent $13 on the welcome bundle and BP because the game is so F2P friendly that I don’t feel forced at all to spend money to progress. Even with the plan to eventually release one new card per week (4 cards per month) plus the monthly BP card for 5 cards/month, F2P players are still going to earn enough new cards per month to complete their collection eventually. With the amount of money I plan on spending (welcome bundle plus monthly BPs), it’s not worth spending all of that gold on a month or a month and a half of progress when I’ll get a complete collection in 6-7 months and there are so many variants I’d rather buy. Monetizing variants encourages light spenders like me to actually spend money on variants instead of getting frustrated at our collection progress after a month or two and inevitably quitting. Whales also get the chance to still whale and collect variants, so no one loses out.
Thanks for your service teaching Alex! I had my whole life changed by having a teacher that actually cared and you come off as someone who would do the same.
Wow, thank you! I really do love my job. I consider myself very fortunate. And thanks for sharing that wonderful story! Its great to hear that someone can have such a positive impact :)
Great first pod! Marvel Snap podcasts are a pretty limited resource right now, so having two of the biggest Snap content creators pair up for one is really cool. Can’t wait for more.
Love this collaboration with Cozy, that is how I arrived here and now a subscriber - look forward for the content. The discussion was great and I had a couple thoughts. First, I agree with the comments on the Ranked system and my take is because of the Retreat System, the fact that you aren’t dumping 20 minutes into a losses and you have a collection to level I don’t mind the current rank system. Second thought is just shouting with you that the F2P model in this game is fantastic. I love that not everyone has all the cards. I like that there are systems in place to prevent buying everything all at one. And $10 a month for the BP’s, I’m great with it. Keep it up, good discussion points!
Subscribed :) Not sure if you (or anybody) is still reading this, but "quick" comment on 1st topic: TLDR: I think using using collection level for match making (not "rank") is one of the biggest strengths of the game and kinda ingenious. It solves alot of problems that (especially long running) CCG's have. Traditional CCGs: Card pool is growing "out of hand" over time, harder to get into for new players because card pool gets to big, power creep with newer sets or new mechanics destoys "old sets" (therefore we have rotations and ban lists), cards or deck archetypes become obsolete and are never played, players starting with and only playing with the one popular "meta deck" the whole time. In Marvel Snap when you get matched with Players of a similar collection level (that are within the same Pool as you with a similar amount of cards): Pool 1 will always be Pool 1. A new player (even when he starts 5 years from now) doesn't have to learn all cards right away, only Pool 1. Decks and cards that work today in Pool 1 will always work in Pool 1 and will always be played at those collection levels in Pool 1 (no "dead cards", new pools don't change the playing experience for lower collection levels still in the old pools). All players create decks within Pool 1 when starting and then develop, grow, change these decks over time in their own pace when progressing their collection level reaching newer pools. New pools give players something to look forward to, a goal to work towards while also growing attached to the cards and decks they play on the way during their journey. "Powercreep" from Pool to Pool is ok now, since it brings new toys to play with and reason to evolve decks with them. Optional (competitive) game modes with "traditional" leaderboards or game modes with customizable restrictions ("only pool 2 cards allowed") can always be added later, so players are able to "travel back in time" (to their "old decks") if they want. But the "main progression/mode" for an account and its match making should stay linked to collection level not "rank" in my opinion.
I think the biggest thing they have to add in is a casual mode that lets you choose where the cards come from that you’re able to play (Pool 1, Pool 2, Season Pass, Pool 3, Starter, Recruit) without making it hierarchal. Having the ability to play a Pool 3 game without, Pool 2 cards sounds interesting and gives the game a lot of replay ability. Having this function also push into a PVP edition would be flames. Also once some balance a draft mode would be great, 48 card pool, each player chooses 12 and just go at it. Random Bats are great on Pokémon Showdown, and if it’s Pool Specific like Battle Factory is that would once again add some diversity to the game play
Alex - I saved up 5k credits and went ham into pool 3. Got pretty lucky with Lockjaw, Rescue, Red Skull, Rogue, Ronan, Deadpool and Capt Marvel…plus a few others that aren’t worth a mention. Cant wait to binge your pool 3 content now when it comes along 😂 roll-on wasp for the Lockjaw! Oh, and more collabs too, awesome vid ❤
Game suggestions: 1. Achievements + rewards 2. Battle with friends 3. Make the events more rewarding. Not just a 100 credits for a week long event. 4. Different game modes like ranked and unranked where you can test other decks 5. And lastly, i know this is a CCG, but imagine if you can trade card variants with other people
Cool dynamics between you two! Look forward to the next episode... 1 small gripe: the link to Cozy's video doesn't work. Must be on his side, it's listed as 'private'
I love this series. You guys should talk about, even for a little bit, marvel midnight suns and how marvel snap should have a crossover season/event with it. I mean they're both Marvel card games released in 2022
My solution to not getting key cards issue would be, to ensure drop of those cards in first half of the pool. In this way every player could try new archetypes without the need of full pool collection.
Just few days ago i thinking about how good would be your featured content with cozy, and this is so cool! My 2 of 3 fav snap guys here, hope in the future i'll see stuff with hooglandia maybe 🔥
The thing you guys need to remember, is your collection score is way higher than anyone who started on launch. I’ve been playing non stop and bought the battle pass and am collection score 450. So it’s possible they haven’t put in a lot of thought to collection group 3 because most people won’t get there yet. I really enjoy the pacing of pool 1 & 2.
I'm curious about what previous game Cozy Snap keeps referring to. My guess is Marvel Strike Force. I used to play that, and the difference in F2P friendliness and monetization structure between these 2 is mindblowing.
For ranked, I'd like to have essentially 3 separate "leagues", based on which pool is your highest card from. The higher the league's pool, the bigger the ranking rewards. It would both incentivize megafans to go back to "subpar" decks, while more casuals would likely just try to stick to the highest league they can participate in, and maybe reduce ranks to 70 or so per league
What if you could include ONE location in your deck that you have to naturally draw and could replace one revealed location? Would that add a cool dynamic??
The only thing I dislike about the season passes is the exclusive cards. No card should be exclusive to paid, and especially limited time content. Id much rather want to see Miles given out for free, or just slapped to pool 1/2/3, and the season pass having +1 variant in it instead, or a "token" to he redeemed in the shop in exchange of a free variant of your choice.
Tbh I want more ways for this game to make money. Heroes of the Storm 2.0 was VERY f2p friendly (less so than Marvel Snap) and Blizzard pulled the plug on it. I don't want this game to die before its time man
You guys discussed Hearthstone, but I heard nothing about Gwent, or furthermore Legends of Runeterra. Please give your thoughts comparing the economy/monetization in those latter 2 games to Marvel Snap Economy wise- no card crafting really limits personal theory crafting, card data in the meta (since not everyone has a card to be able to play it get stats on it for card balance), the RNG of Mystery Card unlocks really puts you off playing more because it just makes you feel bad mentally when you get a card you don't intend to play
In my opinion it is, in fact I think to an extent its when you get into pool 3 is the only time I have felt I "need" to spend money. Cause with pool 1 you get cards as you go, everyone is roughly the same just varies on position, same with pool 2, but pool 3, now that its really really luck based on what cards, if I get them, are it sucks. I basically was just getting squashed constantly by people who had all of these cards unlocked that I didn't, that I finally had to spend cash til I was able to play just one good pool 3 deck. Now that I have I am back to F2P, but other than that one instance I don't feel there is a "need" to spend money in this game.
Nice first episode guys; looking forward to more. I've been playing Snap for a couple of weeks now (and having a blast), but one thing I'm a bit concerned about is the longevity of the game with their current model. Supposedly, they are only planning to release 1-2 new cards a month. Once players have completed their collections, this hardly seems like enough new cards to keep the game fresh and players engaged. Typically cards games will release whole expansions every few months, infusing a large number of new cards all at once that shakes up the meta, creates new archetypes, and provides players with plenty of new stuff to try out. I can see the meta in this game becoming extremely stale at a schedule of 1-2 cards a month. At that rate, It could take a very long time for new archetypes to become viable. What are your thoughts on this and has Second Dinner addressed this at all?
In my opinion , we pay for our progress to increase drastically , Especially for CL , from pool 1-3 in this game , F2P is always behind the spender, but in a long timeframe , everything will be balanced.
in other card games you can't play all decks you want, because you have to pull cards from boosters, who you can also buy with money. So p2win is a thing in most card games, because you just can't compete with better decks. In this game, everyone has to grind for their cards. Yes you can spend money on gold to upgrade more cards, to get the cards faster, but you still have to play, to get them + you are competin against the same pool opponents, which means, they should have the same progression. I do think pool 3 is too big, they should split it into 2 more pools
I realy love this video i just have to say one thing for the F2P aspect, Hearthstone and other games were kinda friendly too when they released, so we will see about marvell snap, I love the game but over the years if they add more cards and pools in a few years a new player won't get a collection fast enough if u get me on this one unless he play all the time. I rly hope they will make this a great game cuz i love playing it and the content.
Hey alex.I been playing this game for about one week and i just want to know how the card reveal work each turn cuz i predicted shang chi into Apocalypse lane and my shang chi revealed it first so he couldnt kill the big guy..Can u pls tell me why my crad reveal itself first.
The fact they *only* made a million dollars in the first week was surprising. The upside is that whales will spend everyday, until all variants are bought. And spend on credits the few times that’s the bottle neck. The downside is Diablo Immortal made $12 million it’s first week, even with seas of negative press about it beforehand. Even I dropped $20 before realizing it was gonna be a few hundred every couple months to really participate in end game. I hope Snap adds other ways for whales to sink money, right now it’s the only game out that’s has a hard cap on how much you can “spend,” a day in terms of buying the variants and credits If they go back to restricting a card behind a paywall, even if just one a season, I’ll uninstall lol game at best becomes pay to fully participate, and if a strong card, pay to win.
Great show guys - well done. A bit of feedback: I think you should spend more time on the discussion segments. Or have fewer segments and deeper discussions. I felt like you moved too fast. Secondly - would you consider uploading these episodes as proper podcasts that we could subscribe to? Love your content ❤
Tried Snap not really my type of game but tried it after Hearthstone and Legends of Runeterra. And speaking about f2p i still feel like LoR is better on that front. But if Snap adds something like crafting the card you want faster not waiting really long just to get your favourite marvel character then maybe it will be like that
I think I’m the only person that is grinding for boosters. I’ve maxed my credits and can’t open any of my challenges 😂 I just can’t upgrade a card to save my life
I respect all you whales keeping mobile games alive. Spending 50k-100k gahdamn .I got bills so forget anything more than $20 here and there lmfao nothing wrong with f2p in gacha games. its all about patience and saving your in game currency, lol
How so? Leveling cards don't improve bit besides cosmetics. And rushing up your collection level is a bad idea cuz you face much harder opponents. Furthermore you have to actually play the game to get the other currency that is used to upgrade cards. Literally is f2p. I alr nearly got all pool 1 cards f2p and I still have tons of credit left from doing missions.
@@lilpp4791 still isn't p2w cuz you can't skip the grind entirely with money. If you could get all the cards so easily I would have dropped the game pretty quickly actually. Didn't have much problem with the grind rb considering I nearly have half the cards in the game in just under a week.
I played this 2 days ago, as soon as I maxxed out the beginner season pass rewards I uninstalled the game because I came to a conclusion that I could never build a meta deck on this piece of shit game because im never gonna spend any money on it
I know it can feel frustrating, but deckbuilding within the confines of your collection can be really rewarding too! Other players won't have perfect decks either, but if you can become a solid deckbuilder, than perhaps you can craft something that is simply more optimal than what others are playing in your bracket
@@AlexanderCoccia I built an odin deck to benefit all my on reveal cards that i got on beginner rewards, I just dont want to be playing the same deck for months without the ability to build a fun meta deck. You know f2p struggles

Absolutely!!! Thanks for being awesome!
I'd like to see them add a Statistics tab that lets you see your win rate, retreat rate, snap rate, etc.
That would be a little bit too informative for a new player. That will be too much information early on. But an amazing suggestion for players in pool 2-3
That would be cool!
I couldnt believe that wasn’t in at launch
And a leader board 😁
Just a win/loss ratio and retreat rate would be amazing

Love the discussions! Hope the “Snapchat” name doesn’t get a copyright strike though
ahahaha never thought of that
It's "The" Snapchat 😉
dang where it all started
I started playing 2 weeks ago and finished pool 2, I only bought season pass and starter bundle, the game is f2p friendly 🥰
The thing you guys need to remember, is your collection score is way higher than anyone who started on launch. I’ve been playing non stop and bought the battle pass and am collection score 450. True!
I'm curious about what previous game Cozy Snap keeps referring to. My guess is Marvel Strike Force. I used to play that, and the difference in F2P friendliness and monetization structure between these 2 is mindblowing.
Snap-chat is the best name I have ever heard for a series 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
lol Cozy came up with it
For ranked, I'd like to have essentially 3 separate "leagues", based on which pool is your highest card from. The higher the league's pool, the bigger the ranking rewards. I wouldnt want things like nexus events where you pay to get cards, however i would like an option for a random variant at discounted gold

Economy wise- no card crafting really limits personal theory crafting, card data in the meta (since not everyone has a card to be able to play it get stats on it for card balance), the RNG of Mystery Card unlocks really puts you off playing more because it just makes you feel bad mentally when you get a card you don't intend to play
I don't have much experience in runterra but ive heard the same
Nice
Thanks!
As a pocket change spender I wouldn’t mind another way to spend at all.
Gwent and legends of runterra are still the most f2p friendly ccgs out there

I think I’m the only person that is grinding for boosters. I’ve maxed my credits and can’t open any of my challenges 😂 I just can’t upgrade a card to save my life
LOL yeah but you're super busy :D
They shouldn't time gate credits, credits should be earned from actually playing. Sell variants and the battle pass and call it a day.
Fair enough!
I respect all you whales keeping mobile games alive. Spending 50k-100k gahdamn .I got bills so forget anything more than $20 here and there lmfao nothing wrong with f2p in gacha games. its all about patience and saving your in game currency, lol
I believe LOR is still the most f2p card game but I don't like it's gameplay.
Fair enough! I only played a bit, but I know its fair
Lol this is not ftp
@@zaingamingtv2242 when it comes to getting cards legends of runterra is still better for f2p players
@@lilpp4791 sure but that doesn't make marvel snap any less f2p.
@@zaingamingtv2242 its more grindy to get cards
“Incredible f2p design” 🤡 🤡🤡🤡
