Hi Jordan, great video and thanks for the mention (you got the name right also)!. I think the Alchemist is overlooked but if you have played all the core classes and looking for something fun the Alchemist is a good option. I would also suggest the Ratfolk as a top race for this class as it would be my #1 pick and here is why: It gets +2 INT +2 DEX (primary stats for this class) It has Darkvision 60 it has +4 to stealth checks and it is small. It is also a favored class like the hobgoblin but it gets an extra discovery every 6 levels they also have a racial feat that gives them +2 Craft (Alchemy), Perception and Use Magic device checks. It has access to the Plague Bringer archetype which is so fit flavorwise if you are going the role-playing route. Let's not forget the offensive trait of swarming which allows 2 ratfolk to share the same square at the same time and gain flanking. Which I affectionate call the "Rat Pack" effect. The alchemist makes for a great IRL prop character as they drink their potions to gain their power. It makes a fun way to take shots while playing DND JS.
I must have have missed the Ratfolk while reading through, that certainly is an excellent option! I'll have to pin this so more folks will see it. And I'm glad to know I got the name right! I tend to sweat that kind of thing.
Thanks for making this series for Pathfinder 1E Alchemist~ I play in campaigns that tend to last 2 years minimum (which I know is crazy, and awesome that I have met enough online friends to keep this up) We have a campaign wrapping up and I was thinking of going Alchemist as I've never seen one in action. Wasn't aware of the Swallowing that was happening to 1E content. (Or at least you gotta really dig) and been replaced with 2E. Not dissing 2E, but there use to not be a distinction so writing 'Pathfinder' gets you both results (Flood of 2e content) and specifying '1E' get's you mostly nowhere. Anyways, Leaving this comment to say even 3 years later that your content is still helpful to at least one person! Thanks again!
@@shadowpigglet Sorry about the confusion there! I read through some of the second edition books; I like how varied the characters can feel with character creation. But it kinda seemed like gameplay could boil down to some specific min/maxing and actions in gameplay easily. Granted, that's true and possible for many games, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask and see what your take is.
@@GamersDenLoremaster The DM felt that we needed a Pure Caster class so I had to retire my alchemist (2nd Level). Another player retired his rogue and is a Wiz and I am a rogue now. 2nd Level. Though I took a Scoundrel for the Charisma skills since we are 50/50 city stuff.

Thought so. We just started a 2nd ed. game and I'm playing an Alchemist and thought I was completely reading it wrong.
