The T shirt.
Good to see you back on the tools again Andy ❤
Great job diagnosing the no spark fault, and explaining your thought process in a manner anyone can replicate. Hope the left paw knuckles are healing well mate.
Love the tee shirt, it's made it to the urban dictionary now
Had this happen on my 94 SS when it was only about 3 years old. Been fine ever since. Great video
I love that t shirt Andy!!!
Awesome Andy, I experienced the exact same issue. Just as you said started with the fuel and ended with those pickups after the electrical troubleshooting. Cheers Mate!
Sounds nice Andy, great fault finding method.
So well said Andy, 9 out of 10 carb faults are electrical, in my experience too. You do have an alternative to this problem. Fit an additional cylinder assembly
$398 from ducati!!! I picked up a set of aftermarkets for $188. would have rather genuin but my pockets aint that deep unfortunatly!.
good job and well explained.
Both my 600 monsters and 750ss suffered from this.
Reversing the polarity on the one that’s duff seemed to work. Weird but it did the job
Great video as my pick ups have just failed on my m600!
Sounds great for a Harley. Grounds will also bite you, intermittent or occasional ones. There is an actual reason why vehicle electrical engineers can't charge you for their whole time, each problem can be a learning experience, so the good ones will take that for what it is, and charge you accordingly.
What a bugger to have to drain your oil to check the electricals.
With molex connectors, according to the size, you could knock one up yourself, and it is much easier dealing with plug issues.
Andy a great video, Many thanks, always good to see it done. Cheers mate. John
i do like a single but only when it should be!! cheers.
Hi Andy, something I noticed while watching your enjoyable video.
Something you may or may not be aware of. These dukes and the newer terblanch one's, is the fuel tanks have a weak area by the hinge point, they start leaking. May I suggest remove the tank, pull the hinge pivots disconnect and remove. These tanks in good condition are rare. This is my experience.
Obviously whilst working on the bike 🤣
Very informative thanks & love the T shirt Andy
Tigers man! Super legend!
Lions man
@@ANDY5 that’s it Andy… unsubscribing 😉
@@stevesanelli90 🤣
Yellow and black haha
The older you get the thinner your skin gets, knuckle scrapes seem to bleed longer 🤕.
Good diagnostic tuition
👍
I reckon my 400ss has this same problem. Need to look into it.
Its lasted pretty good, seems years since you put her together,
Love the T-shirt
hey mate, short the battery with that wedding band, gotta be worth a few extra views.
Coincidentally my pick up failed recently on my 94 900 monster. It would intermittently work when warm.
Recently i swap the stator in my 620 ,,first tought it was the rectifier that did not alowed to charge then i tested the stator and it mesured quite some hi voltage 21volt but my mesures were wrong it was toastead in one fase and had to be rewinded, rectifier was ok after all
Great video! I have a 2000 Cagiva Gran Canyon, mine doesn't have pick up coils, it has a crank position sensor. I am having a similar issue, my bike runs ok at low revs, but when I roll in to it, it is hitting on one cylinder. I am now starting to throw parts at it. Initially I thought TPS, but have re set it twice ( by millivolts 150 closed, then throttle stop screw out to 404 mv), changed it out with a spare. Same, hitting on one above 5K rpms, next I'm trying coils, (although they test ok cold per ohms) thinking possible intermittent failure at speed (and temp) Any thoughts?
Hi Andy, what gap do you set between the pick-up coil en flywheel?
Love the T shirt 🤣
Like the t shirt
Seriously Andy, in some instances, if a link varies in resistance, between high and 20 Ohms, it is still worth a shot. Lectrics are to make fools of us all. Their reason to exist is to make you spend money.
I have a similar issue but when checking the front cylinder for spark it was present. what could it be?
Good Delspaination
Now running on one, so its now a Supermono!
I need that T shirt 🤣😂🤣😁
"Aussies will get it"
hey, dont forget us Kiwis too😉
I could count the number of Kiwi’s I know who follow AFL on two fingers
@@ANDY5 haha fair call
I'm a Guzzi she's a Guzzi wouldn't you like to be a Guzzi too? I enjoyed the video Andy . RIDE SAFE!
A dead short is as good as something not existing. (According to existential philosophy.)
Hi Great to see you back in the shop/shed but sorry it's because your bike has a fault. Great shirt is it one of your own or did it come from Matt
Keep up the good work
It’s my shirt and my word, Mat got it from me. Same as the Hammered Dog Shit bike, that was my phrase too.
@@ANDY5 👍👍
nice one m8 😎🏍👍
Thanks Andy! Did you need to drain all the oil? How much oil sits in that case when not running?
It was due for a change. Not sure how much actually needed to be drained.
Andy, What are you using for your gasket seal? I've seen aftermarket gaskets for sale on eBay and might give it a try. I don't have an ignition problem just a
leaky cover. Thanks, and thanks for posting these videos.
Three Bond, no gasket required.
I can't stand gasket seal, l use gaskets from California Cycle Works, dead simple, no mess and work great.
Lovin the shirt bro .. was it
Mats idea
Delspaining is a term that was coined by me, Matt has been using it since. Same as Hammered Dog Shit. That shirt has been in my Tee Spring store for yonks
@@ANDY5 well I'm going shopping then
Hi Andy. Want to ask your help. I have a 1982 suzuki gsx1000sz (the homologation model). I have had the carbs off to check them, but struggling to find a good video showing how to set up the Mikini VM32 ss. It looks like some other bikes have these type of carbs fitted. an you suggest a publication (all ones I look at seem to only show the rubber diaphragm type). or a youtube video showing setting and balancing these types of carbs? Cheers.
Sorry mate, I don't
@@ANDY5 Cheers for reply.
What a pain, I hate electrical problems.
Love the T Shirt. Delsplain should be added to the Oxford English Dictionary as a warning to others.
It's Italian and a Ducati therefore guaranteed electrical issue!!!
Hello the green bike ? Honda ?
That's basket case ! Andy please show her again. There are people here who never seen it it seems. Last thing I heard was little drop at the petrol station and the paint was ruined. That's ages ago. Before the st3 even

Yamaha XS1100
Skinned knuckles required for all repairs.
Good work Andy however you missed key opportunities to make us watch tedious, video filling nonsense. Buuut I guess that’s why I sub to you not old Harley butcher.
Also learnt something too, thanks mate. Are most bikes set up in similar manner? I’m a yellow iron mechanic, spark ignition not my thing.
but my carb isn't electronic in any way
