Not only is the name roach a nod towards the witcher, but when you buy the horse the trader says he got the horse off an older gentleman who traded it so his new wife wouldn't stuff it.
Bridles increase horse control (turning radius mostly Id assume) that's not a stat shown on the panel and I haven't done any scientific testing on it, but anecdotally it does seem to work. as far as a horse choice I'd say prioritize carrying capacity first as that is by far the most noticable. Even slow horses are decently fast, and even hoses with low stamina can gallop for a decent amount of time. Start of game: Either do main quest for a bit until you get Pebbles (free) or go to Uzhitz stables and buy Rocinante for a trivial 170 grochen. It's a pretty decent starter horse despite being many times cheaper than any other. Midgame: Bucephalus (Alexander the great's horse) is a fantastic well rounded horse with massive carrying capacity and no serious weak-points. Late game: Warhorse Jenda from Merhojed stables is basically the best in the game. While there are other horses that can marginally best it in one stat they all have downsides in other areas. Jenda is near-perfect in all categories -including the all-important carrying capacity. Only Trojan and Buchephalus (Neuhof) carry more - but not by much, and Jenda beats them in all other categories. General tips: - Get a horse as soon as possible. it is invaluable for both travel and large mobile storage. It should be your #1 priority at the start of the game as it makes everything easier for you. - Upgrades for your horse are very impactful. Even a cheap horse with good upgrades will easily best a top-tier one with no equipment. Prioritize saddles for carrying capacity first, then horseshoes for speed.
Reading on the Wiki...and the numbers given in the "chart" for the various horses and way different than the numbers given on each linked page for each horse?? Whether it's 'speed' or 'stamina' or how much it can carry, none of the numbers match each other at all - so which set do we pay attention to? The Chart or the page for the horse??
Possible, but there’s also a famous medieval poem that could have been form the games era tbh which I can’t recall exactly but it involves a chicken and a horse somehow in a birds nest upon a cliff, just a thought tho.
Noble isn't always better - the Military Horseshoes are best. Bridles help with Courage, but not much. Noble 4 Bags is the best saddle across the board.
Yea... tried to reach that nest with the horse carcass... got within feet of it.. I mean I literally saw it..took one last hop in the direction and at that moment instead of hopping in the direction I needed, I do this Olympic style backflip off the mountain side....
skyelark155 When I came back I made sure I enabled the light feather perk. Even then I hurt myself pretty bad... your best bet is to make sure you have that perk and kind of slowly drop down on ledges that don’t look too far to hurt badly.. that or try to back track.. I didn’t want to do that because of the invisible spring board that seems to fling us to our deaths on the hill... drink a schnapps once you get in good position too lol..
Trucker Jack All you have to do is follow the mountain down the right side and in between two trees theres a buggy rock, walk over that and you get down safely lol..
I'm glad your channel is tackling these various guides because it is quite obvious the majority of players and reviewers spotlighting this game right now have no clue how intricate, deep, and detailed this game actually is.
i believe bridle improves your handling of the horse.. not sure if its faster turn speed or better response.. i think its a mix of both.. anyways its nice if you ride along a path that suddenly takes a u-turn, you dont have to stop to make the turn.. also during combat its nice cause lotsa circling there :)
to see the horses stats easier load up the wiki page that shows all the horses compared in one easy to read list and decide what horse you want from that.
in addition to the horse Roach being a Witcher reference, i think the whole mechanic with the horse following the road if you just hold the button down and the horse just autotrots down the road, the Witcher 3 has that mechanic as well. there's also an alchemy perk called "witcher"
There is more horse armor south of the bandit came prizwaiwitz or whatever its called, the one you do the main story in, it is south of the camp in the bush in a big stone ruin, you climb down into the ruin and go thru a hidden bush door.
How do you not know the pronunciation of places in game? They are said many many times throughout the story, and I doubt that you're making this guide without having played any of the main story.
I always go with sleipnir but eventually trade it in for Warhorse Jenda from Merhojed. Its got better stamina and capacity for a little less courage but ive never had trouble with that.
I ride my horse everywhere, never used the fast travel option. My horseriding is already at 16 while all of my other skills are much lower than that, FeelsGoodMan
Look at a list online. Going to each horse at each stable to try to determine which one is worth your money and has the best stats you want is insanity.
Haha, yeah, I often wonder why people can be so bad with that. Lots of names are even pronounced in different ways by different people in the game, so you can choose what suits you best.
So along the way in the story missions, you eventually reach a prominent position in a village (trying to avoid as much spoiler as i can).. but when you do, you will have access to an armorer and he can provide some horse armor. But this is down the story path a pretty good ways.
If possible, you should make a video explaining armor in this game. Not so much how to get it, but how it affects you. I'm sure I'm not the only one a little but perplexed by how in depth the armor system is.
I was able to buy plate head gear (Simple Plate Chanfron) for my horse in Pribyslavitz, after getting Zack (the armor-smith from Monastery) to come to town. It is better than the nest armor. Head Armor is 18 18 12, with the simple plate chanfron vs 15 15 10.
Intergrator sweet thx for fast response/ can you remember note about that side quest and where in the game you can access it or can you access side quests without the timeline? I’m only a few hours in just wrapped on ‘Ginger in a pickle quest..
I think you can do the quest anytime, but can't get him to Pribyslavitz, until you rebuild a forge there, plus there's a whole series of side quests for Pribyslavitz. It's mid to late game stuff.
the Bridles make it more difficult for you to be unseated form your horse. Not sure if the Noble or Military bridle is best - it is strange that the Military horseshoes seem to be the best horseshoes but the Noble saddle (with 4 saddlebags) seems to be the best saddle?
I know this is old but Neuhof Pronounced: Noi-Hof Merhojed Pronounced: Mer-ho-yed Uzhitz Pronounced: Oozh-hits Edit: also the nest is also a Witcher reference. A lot of Witcher references in the game.
You can buy a horse as soon as you are in Rattay, you don't need to progress the storyline. Unless you want a free horse, but you can just as easily steal stuff, or make potions, and sell them to a trader. You need roughly 2000 Groschen to get a decent horse. I always go for Trojan, since he has the highest carrying weight ingame. You can trade him in(and put some money in there with the horse) for a faster horse when you are level 10 in drinking, when you take Safe Passage. That way you can carry even more weight home by getting flat out drunk.
awww i was hoping that you talked about stealing horses more as im afraid of doing so because idk what is gonna happen to my old horse equipment, my loot on the horse and reputation . Great vid anyway ^^
It doesn't affect your horse. You also can't keep the stolen horse (it will not come when called but you can ride it whenever; you don't have access to the stolen horse inventory)
Warhorse referencing The Witcher so much, makes me really happy; they're aiming to make a game of that caliber someday. Kingdom Come is already a decent try, but it's also full of glitches and bugs
Stamina is only moderately good. IMO the best horses are the ones with the highest carry capacity, and then a reasonably high speed. Somewhere around upper 30's. Speed is great if you never fast travel, but has pretty limited specific advantage besides getting somewhere 25% faster. I would rather be able to carry 80% more loot, and go at 40 speed, than carry half that and go almost 50. Stamina is impacted by horsemanship. So while early on that 230 stamina horse sucks, by level 15+4 from riding spurs its really not bad at all. I figure by level 24 stamina is trivial.
I completely disagree, at first I was also keen on capacity but after a very long time in the game I can definitely say it doesn't matter much if you have a hundred pounds more or less, it's not worth sacrificing any speed and stamina for it, especially on Hardcore. Btw, there is no levl 24, the skills are capped at 20.
@@DerEchteBold I have only attempted Hardcore twice, and gave up both times. Its next to impossible to make sound tactical decisions without those damned bars! So you are 100% right there. Personally I was playing to have huge quantities of cash so I could get Priv up and running quickly. I suppose once I was wealthy then Carrying Cap. wouldn't matter much. I also noticed that max speed horses were harder to maneuver effectively. Though if I am being honest, that was probably a player issue rather than an actual detriment. IDK I honestly didn't notice the speed issue nearly as much as the carry weight issue.
@@Roland597 Didn't find the missing bars much of a problem, got used to it almost immediately. And yes, of course the faster the horse the more difficult to control is the fast gallop. Recently I use Podagros with 39, with maxed out skill and equipment he gets to 66 and that seems to be the sweet spot for me.
I find that the bridle does the same thing as player equipped spurs... They don't show a stat change, but they increase your control (or turn radius) of your hourse. It might just be a placebo affect from me wanting them to do something, though.
The Stables in Pribyslavitz has a great horse called Argo in the From the Ashes DLC personally my favourite horse in the game. Followed by Bucephalus and Kanthaka.
But stat-wise the other two horses at Pribyslawitz are better, except for courage but that doesn't matter cause you easily get to 20 with good horsemanship anyways.
Finally got enough money to get a new horse, stuck between Bucephalus for carryweight and Chollima for the insane stamina bc I don’t fast travel much and then just getting a good saddle and horseshoes. Once you sell a horse, can you get it again? I’m indecisive as hell and worried I’ll screw it up lol
I'm sorry, but could I get longer directions to the horse armor/nest? Or perhaps clearer directions as I am rather new to the area and a stranger to these lands? See, an invading army chased me from my home so I fled in the dark of the night in the rain and I know not one kind person here...
I think Trojan and Bucephalus from the Neuhof stables are faster. EDIT: I'm wrong. Pegasus is indeed the fastest horse. Though I still went for Bucephalus coz she can carry more and I love her name.
I got this horse al buraq and well i went riding through the woods near pribyslavits and came across some cumans anyway a cuman shot my horse and it ran off now if i try to call my horse but he wont come anymore but i can still acces the horse inventory and even see the horse in the inventory screen
Just saying there’s actually one more tier of horseshoes that’s the best i think, it’s military and i’ve only seen it for sale once at Neuhof and haven’t seen it since
yes i have the same question, i try to use the kit but the head armour cannot be fixed by any of the kits, maybe go to the blacksmith? and the body armour for the horse as well. Anybody have any ideas where to find them?
I am at the Noruef ginger area. Tring to get a good horse. It just shows horse not any specific name. so what up? I use pc through steam. other horses show up as "A Horse"
I haven't been able to find a horse to warrant trading in pebbles, she may have low endurance but she's faster than any other I have found, low stamina isn't an issue at high riding skill.
MochiMejika I've got old pebbles sitting at 56 speed with full armor, sure her stamina is low but it rarely even runs out. I now see I only want the warhorse uhh something, the Stinky white one. She's super expensive for me right now though, pebbles and I have history. She's tried to kill me a few times, but I would too if I was her so it's cool.
im not sure, maybe its for "social status" or something, because ever since i gave henry a jupon to wear over the plate people stopped greeting me as "sir knight" or "what would i do to assist you knight", anyways i only got it an hour or so ago maybe it's just me
I had a noble saddle wear out, I realize that the durability is 1. Not entirely sure why. I don't think it effected anything but the selling price, capacity and other stats remained high as far as I could tell. Got rid of it, because, I can't be seen on a broken saddle. What would they think?
Only two things matter: Capacity and courage. You want to carry shit and don't get thrown off. The best horse for that is Bucephalus, which also looks legit (Henry would never choose a bright white horse which can be seen a mile away).
Max Mustermann Yeah, I thought so too, but the game doesn’t care about how easy your horse can be spotted. Therefore I bought the Arab from Neuhof (Al- Buraq or something), a really great horse in all regards. Btw: Do you know what keys to press to get the horse to stay on the road and to follow it automatically?
My Horse Speed was 72 before the Proloque now in the Prologue its 42 somehow i cant explain equiping and Equiping Horsegear doenst affect it its always 42 how to fix that
I think it is the cobbler that fixes the saddle, tailor fixes the armor. You can fix them respectively with the proper tools granted the item isn't too damaged.
Can someone tell me or help me know where I can buy all the best/noble attachments for my horse? Cause very early in the game I was caught stealing by that girl who sells horses at the stables best rattany and so now im kinda fucked as she isn't coming back...
Try Neuhof, had noble saddles with 4 packs, and up to gold horseshoes. Also had knight and noble equipment. Check all the stables, and the blacksmiths, the blacksmiths carry shoes.
Not only is the name roach a nod towards the witcher, but when you buy the horse the trader says he got the horse off an older gentleman who traded it so his new wife wouldn't stuff it.

I think the dead horse in the nest is another Witcher reference cause first monster you fight I think took one of the horses
Haylen Rendeluk there is also chicken in the nest. This is definitely another Witcher reference. Chicken represents Griffin.

If you need to repair the horse armor, bridle, or saddle only the cobbler can repair them

Great video! The bridles help with controlling the horse at higher speeds. The better the bridle, the better the control.

I am unsure, though.
already try it ... didn't work
The horse robes can be fixed with a tailor's kit yourself, even a small one.
I think the bridles make turning a bit smoother and faster.
Courage, turning rate and a slight bit of armor. (I could be wrong but I think 9 is the highest from what I've seen)
I am at the Noruef ginger area. Tring to get a good horse. It just shows horse not any specific name. so what up? I use pc through steam. other horses show up as "A Horse"
Is it possible to sell unsaddled horses, like those you find near bandits camp?
Every answer I've read to this says "no" i have seen people say you can but never an explanation as to how though
The bridles don't effect stats but make it easier to handle
Ok so questions is it possible to sell a horse or claim one you steal or find in a bandit camp?
The bridles affect your control of your horse, I don't want to say maneuverability solely but it does affect it. The game simply has no stat for it.
Can I equip a wild horse or do I have to buy one
I haven't been able to find a horse to warrant trading in pebbles, she may have low endurance but she's faster than any other I have found, low stamina isn't an issue at high riding skill.
Then you haven't been looking at named horses from vendors. Any tier 4 or 5 horse is easily better than pebbles.
MochiMejika I've got old pebbles sitting at 56 speed with full armor, sure her stamina is low but it rarely even runs out. I now see I only want the warhorse uhh something, the Stinky white one. She's super expensive for me right now though, pebbles and I have history. She's tried to kill me a few times, but I would too if I was her so it's cool.
why doesn't anyone wear an outer garment in the KCD videos if it provides you with armor? is it just for the shiny looks?
im not sure, maybe its for "social status" or something, because ever since i gave henry a jupon to wear over the plate people stopped greeting me as "sir knight" or "what would i do to assist you knight", anyways i only got it an hour or so ago maybe it's just me
wait never mind that, some one just referred to me as a knight
How do I switch stolen horses? Like from pebbles to a stolen horse? Without buying a horse
is it possible that during the pestilence quest you cant buy horses in merhojed :/?
potentially. im honestly not sure didnt try during that point
After the quest you will need to wait about 1 in game week for them to come back.
when I steal a horse how do I make so when I whistle for my horse it isnt my old horse
Now that Hardcore mode nerfed carry capacity and fast travel removed, horses are your best friend
Honestly ive enjoyed it alot more on hardmode .. Does the amount of saddle bags change speed ? Like 4 compared to one ?
Bridles are for horse handling (better turning rate)
Pretty sure bridles let you control the horse better, it's not tied to any visible stat but they do have an effect
Can you change the color of your horse blanket, or do they at least come in different colors?
there are tons for sale, but no you cant change the color
If there's many colors available that's alright.
there should be quite a few at every stable
There is also a mod that gives them all the same stats regardless of color.
Bridle is meant to help with turning ability like spurs.
I found a horse better then mine it was in a bandit camp can I take it as my own and get rid of my current horse?
I had a noble saddle wear out, I realize that the durability is 1. Not entirely sure why. I don't think it effected anything but the selling price, capacity and other stats remained high as far as I could tell. Got rid of it, because, I can't be seen on a broken saddle. What would they think?
Only two things matter: Capacity and courage. You want to carry shit and don't get thrown off. The best horse for that is Bucephalus, which also looks legit (Henry would never choose a bright white horse which can be seen a mile away).
Max Mustermann
Yeah, I thought so too, but the game doesn’t care about how easy your horse can be spotted.
Therefore I bought the Arab from Neuhof (Al- Buraq or something), a really great horse in all regards.
Btw: Do you know what keys to press to get the horse to stay on the road and to follow it automatically?
Sleipnir packs a lot 😉
I got the al-baraq (name might be off) it’s tier 5 with the noble saddle that weighs 20 and has over 500 capacity.. pure white as well which I wanted.
How do you repair horse tack?
I think the creators just FORGOT about it LOL
Lol, what a blunder, we can't repair it
You unequip your horse shoes, transfer them to Henry and ask a blacksmith for repairs.
thank you
Warhorse Jenda for the win... I don’t care how he smells
My Horse Speed was 72 before the Proloque now in the Prologue its 42 somehow i cant explain equiping and Equiping Horsegear doenst affect it its always 42 how to fix that
Just got this game like 3 weeks ago had a hard time lock pickingbut over all this game is great
How do I repair my saddles?
I think it is the cobbler that fixes the saddle, tailor fixes the armor. You can fix them respectively with the proper tools granted the item isn't too damaged.
Can someone tell me or help me know where I can buy all the best/noble attachments for my horse? Cause very early in the game I was caught stealing by that girl who sells horses at the stables best rattany and so now im kinda fucked as she isn't coming back...
Try Neuhof, had noble saddles with 4 packs, and up to gold horseshoes. Also had knight and noble equipment. Check all the stables, and the blacksmiths, the blacksmiths carry shoes.
armor for the horse's body ????
Doesn't seem to exist yet. Or if it does, nobody has posted where it is yet.
If you find it all UA-cam glory will be yours to reap.
I believe Bethesda sells one for $2.5
My question is what's the middle slot for the horse on the left side for? Could be armor for legs?
its an additional armor piece I believe but I have yet to find it. When I find it ill make a video
Upper Echelon Gamers hope it's more armor like the head armor
Norma Head It will be body armour for the horse, I havent seen anyone find it yet :(
Body armor for the horse. The devs plan to have it in game, it just wasn't ready on time.
Ahh, was hoping to learn whether the speed of travel on the horse affects the rate of skill improvement.
I found a wild horse at a bandit camp, its much better than mine but i cant claim it?
I'll never cheat on pebbles
the bridle increases courage but 20 is the max
Thanks for the vid, I'm still trying to get down without dying the rest of the way lol
Has anyone figured out what horse item goes in the middle slot on the left of the horse?
Does it matter is you fast travel while on or off a horse?
Sure does. Faster when on horse.
It does but at like 20 agility and sprinter perk you will fast travel faster than a tier 2 horse, it will only have more stamina than you.
It's also nice to fast travel on your horse in case you run into trouble you can just run out if there quickly if need be
