Devs are passionate and open to feedback and are actual gamers so the game seems to be in good hands. Just give it some time unless you want to be a real tester and give good feedback.

They asked everyone if they wanted an early release. They said the game is unfinished, but majority said ‘yes’ anyway. Now everyone’s crying that the game is unfinished. The stupidity is beyond my understanding.
pretty much any angry voiced review I see I just roll my eyes, YOU ALL WANTED THIS WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ??????, devs literally said it wasn't remotely finished or ready for launch before ever even dropping EA, they made a whole announcement in Q&A interviews regarding this too, it's baffling how the lack of critical thought exists.
i mean the game is sitting at mostly positive on steam rn im loving it and i think most of the community is too, doesnt mean it is without flaws it is up to everyone to be honest and tell devs what is wrong/bugged not just suck them off bc its a cool concept lol obviously its the internet and there will be some dumbass people but the devs are going to look at what most players are asking for i would think not what a couple dumb people want when they prolly played like 2 hours...

@@gabemulkey484 the entire discord is popping off with a lot of good feedback that's usable, and that's a good thing having people address issues concerns constructively and have it be heard, it's also good to see visually what's happening through their posted clips of their user experience, the way the community is supporting the project gives me a positive outlook on how things will turn out in the long run, will it be some massive viral takeover probably not, it is a very niche genre but for those it is for it seems to be hitting its marks.

Joe completely forgets he's nothing in this world just a regular scavenger who found weapons trying to survive. Gotta wait till you level up more and unlock more shit before you can defend yourself against the soldiers. But doing so, will mark you as a threat and a hit squad will start hunting you down.
Nah, the game is rough shape. The ai is broken and the stealth mechanics only work half of the time.

@@epicwinnington8602 Its literally in the best spot for EA... You are aware EA is used to fix the problems you described? If not for EA the game could have released with the same problems but hopefully now it wont and will just improve from the pretty decent game it already is
@mtbarnes1 , plenty of games don't actually improve much from EA to release, or worse, fail and get abandoned.
I have hopes for this game, but if you put something out for a price, it gets reviewed as-is, not what it might become.

Yeah I was playing last night w the R11 and vector. Went into mech trenches and me and my friend were hunting down hunter killers😂once you get pretty set it really isn't that bad, which could be part of the AI being a little dumb. But it's still stupid fun.

@@BDM7 "be good"? No, but it is frustrating seeing so many content creators keep treating the game like an FPS shooter, when really they should be treating it as a Hitman or Dark Souls game.
@@BDM7 The reason most of us are tired of content creators whining about the game is because they think they can play this like Halo or CoD. This game is like Alien Isolation. You've got a gun, sure, but using it is essentially ringing the dinner bell since you are a civilian with a BB gun up against a Megacorp.

Its been out only a couple days and theyve already had two big hotfixes, the devs are working their butts off on this. Keep in mind they didnt want to do early access but gave in to people wanting to playtest so they finally agreed. I appreciate the hell out of this game and even with the current jank am super enjoying my time with it!

Early access is literally designed to receive criticism. That is the whole purpose of being in early access.

For those looking into this, keep in mind that the developers released it early due to the high interest in the game. It's an early access game, so it's not going to be polished and will still have glitches, AI issues, etc. If you're looking for a fully polished game, you might want to stay away for now. However, if you want to support what I see as a dedicated team of developers, then go ahead and support this game like some of us have.

Giving me some Metro vibes. Which is a good thing, I think Metro Exodus was heavily overlooked and underappreciated.
Metro exodus was definitely a great game, its 2nd and 3rd act was definitely rushed to hell but its 1st act was gold.
I think maybe some needs to give angry Joe the "you're not this guy"-talk.

I've heard this game discribed as an "anti"shooter". The idea is to AVOID getting to firefights - except as a last resort.

Well, there are times where combat is necessary for quests. But you have to be smart about it. Engauge, fall back, when the reinforcements leave you can go back to loot.

In this game you are not "that guy", you either get used to that fact, or your body ends up littering the battlefield of the forever war. Either to end up being grinded into protein blocks, collected by mother courage, or turned into biofuel soup by toothy and its tick swarm.

You go on about stealth not being worth a damn while simultaneously not elaborating, how the hell am i supposed to know what you mean by that?
From my own experience the stealth is pretty decent, if you hide in a dark corner and not move an inch you can be literally inches away from a patrol and they wouldnt notice you, but if you moved to see if they passed then they hear your feet shift the gravel and investigate. If they hear gunshots in a quiet area they check for it, allowing you to sneak by as you lure them away. If you pick up a marked item and remove the gps beacon on it you can either destroy it or toss it near a hot zone and have the HK get swarmed by cyborgs. The possibilities from what ive seen in my 40+ hours are endless.
If you play smart you survive, if you play loud you become Toothy food.
Whenever im with my friends we bring our biggest guns to bear down on the enemy, it gets really freaking hairy and we always expect to not survive but when we do its a great feeling, when i play solo i go as a sniper, with a silenced SVD, RSASS, VKS, or NTW-20 and pick off vulnerable targets, loot, then move on. As long as i take them out before they can find or identify me then they cant send the Scramblers or HK's after me.
Definitely needs time to cook for bug fixes, performance optimisation, more "stealth animations" (going prone and crawling, hugging walls, peeking only your head around the corner etc), rework the Water system etc.
But it looks really good.

This is not the game for Angry Joe. God, I wish this hadn't hit the mainstream so early so all these CoD shitters hadn't gotten a hold of it. This game deserves better than a bunch of braindead content creators treating an artistic, indie MGS-meets-Tarkov game the same as some AAA high octane action FPS clone.
I see it has issues, but im also noticing this game takes a particular temperment and playstyle that seems difficult for some reviewers, while others seem to get it.
This game is my game. It was made for me. Personally. But how did they get inside my head?! 15 hours in and I am blown away. 10/10, even with jank. Everywhere you look is a screenshot worth keeping. The music is awesome, and right on the nose. My God, when it's fully done, this will probably be my most favourite game of all time. Nobody has been here before with this gameplay. The world is that of Rogue Trooper (the comics, not the game necessarily) . Dont sleep on this one, join the sublime conflict of the wargodmechs. And pray you get out.

Simple, they were some of the devs who made those games that we all dreamed of, and they took heavy inspiration from some of the most iconic and underappreciated media of the last 40 years. Mad God, Prey 2, Patlabor, Mamoru Oshii, Ghost in thr Shell 1999, BLAME!, you name it they know it, one of the devs is even a massive classic anime junky. Once you start to learn about the background and history of these devs you start to realize that everything you loved is exactly everything they love and want to make real.
Maybe it's a good thing I'm a stealth bow main in Skyrim... all this gun-ho action from Joe really enforces the need for stealth.
It's got good bones, but def not in a great state now.
Offline Water decay is cringe, and they need to remove that entirely. That is my biggest issue. There is also some confusion on factions, which is not a big deal at first, but as you start aligning with certain factions, it gets harder to tell who's your friend and who will blast you on the spot. The other issue is the Hunter-Killer teams. This game is not a combat game, but the HK teams almost force you into it, due to them spotting you easily. The devs are great dudes, and I think they have a real gem on their hands, but only if they keep updating it.
A small suggestion is more rugged look to guns. It's not overly off putting, but a sleek M4 in this universe kinda stands out. I love the variety tho. Also, let us freecam in Spectate mode to watch the battles with no risk. One of the best things about this game is the full on fights you'll see break out.
Overall, this game is awesome and I love it's concept. But it's rough as-is. I will watch it with great interest
People crying about water are cringe, folks set it as a concept long time ago and casuals can't comprehend it that it won't be walk in the park, dev had a point this won't be for everyone, and many comments i see prove it.

@@soraxd5093 I am terrible at the game so far, I only survive one out of ten runs on average but even I have managed to stockpile over 10 real life days of water and I would not call it hardcore at all. Still annoying that if I do not play the game in 10 days ill have to start over my base, how is that fun or good design? Keep the water decay but base it on game time, or have water decay each extraction but there is no gameplay reason it makes sense to decay when your not even playing. Thats just the devs trying to force people to keep logging in.
I will give them money just for pushing the message of Proper game development.
But that said, I think the Early Access release is a mistake. As someone who's worked in QA, a half-baked Early Access is literally the worst thing you can do.
First impressions matter. Titles like "Beta" "Alpha" "Early Access" do not matter. The first impression your game makes, whatever state it releases in, will be what the majority of your audience remembers when your game is mentioned. If your first impression is poor, that will leave a permanent stain on your name, even if you improve a lot later in the full release.
So many indie games have been DOA because of poorly received early access. Even when their full release was far from the early access in terms of content.
Instead of risking your game getting significant blow back, poor reviews, and a horrible first impression... wait. Release it when it's Ready.

The three things this game needs to be amazing is:
1) Fix the glitches, though of course you'd expect an early access game to have glitches.
2) Better optimisation, I've heard it runs like shit unless you have a new high end PC.
3) Remove the water loss mechanic, I'm not playing a game where all my items get deleted because I took a break from it. If it was an in-game timer, sure, but not one that ticks down even when the game is closed. It'll make the game feel like a chore to play and won't be enjoyable.
Don't "remove" the water feature.... Rather, give the option to play without that feature enabled.
More options will help create unique experiences.
The game is fun, I have 600k with a prestige 6 Old man, if you want fights go to scrapyard Nexus because you don’t have to worry about hunter killers and vehicles. Bring a turret for the timed extract or you’ll be overun by cyborgs.

I can't wait til they optimize the game because even running at low settings 1080p and super low resolution I wasn't getting but 45 fps on the high end, it would generally stay at 30 fps. I have a 4070 and a ryzen 7 7700

We’re all hearing “You’ll lose everything without water.” This is just an echo-chamber lie from people who haven’t thoroughly interacted with the mechanics they’re criticizing. Don’t be fooled, character XP and prestige, which CANNOT be wiped, ARE the game. I repeat, XP progression is the definitive progress in the game. Vendors and settlement bonuses for your “innards” are ancillary to XP growth and are not that hard to rebuild from scratch, even if you’re wiped.
Yep, the most important progress isn't water and you get so much from quests.
I bought the game. The game said you lose all gear without water. The Character XP and Prestige shit is drivel you people spout. It only has relevance in helping you increase firearm usability in a game where you want to keep firearm usage to a minimum. XP progression is NOT the definitive progress in the game. In fact, the devs themselves said they wanted that to be water, hence the water-gating for functions around the Innards.
If your game is so good, why are you LYING? Jesus Christ. It's GROSS. I hate you people. It doesn't matter if you get tons of water. All that proves is that their system is bunk, which we all knew since the beginning. The game is a wonderful concept and I'm enjoying it, but seeing you simps fucking LIE to people to get them to waste money is goddamn sickening.

The jankiness and water system just doesn't matter because the game is SO fucking FIRE you forget about both. I have a Steam friend with 100+ hours already, and I'm at 30 and still not bored. Buy this game and support these developers!

The Water Mechanic sucks. This game will basically delete your savegame if you dont play it regularly.

Only played for 8hrs and I'm already at 28 days worth of water.... It's not difficult to obtain, and quests where you get water supply as part of the reward are repeatable
lose your stuff to the water mechanic before you start complaining about it.
Love the "everyman" set up, there's no power fantasy here. The aesthetic, sound and voice work are also on point. It would be brilliant if they could also make single player somehow feasible, maybe with unique missions and rewards. Yes, there are teething problems with everything I'm hearing but I think this one deserves some patience.

Goddamn these devs are absolutely based. I wish I were a PC gamer, this game is everything I've ever wanted. A war game where you AREN'T that guy, where you don't MATTER. Where the enemies don't CARE about you unless you give them a reason to, and STOP caring about you if their real enemies are a factor...

Def stoked for this one, Joe was frustrating me on the last one, he was right there and his patience got him killed. I personally love extraction shooters so no surprise I’d like it.
I played 48 hours in the first 96 hours of the game being out. It's tremendously fun, but definitely rewards balancing caution vs. knowing when to go loud and hard. Love the art, love the gameplay loop, absolutely hyped for the devs.
its fun but the water loss when offline sucks because u need to be on every 2 hours or u lose all your water and stash.
lol thats wrong, the water lasts for 24 hours and you can stack upto 90 days worth its easy to get, what kind of misinformation is this?

i have played for 6 hours and i have 7 days worth of water u can do water runs i farmed few days of water just like in 15 mins i was also looting other things.

I'm not going to criticize the game cause it's EA, but if I had to give some, it pretty much all needs work. But the Concept is awesome, definitely will wait to see how it is a year from now, or later. If it can give what it promises to deliver then this could be a GOTY title for me personally.
Needs a lot of optimization. I couldn't play on my mid Katana MSI, i7 3050Ti with all display settings turned to low. I'll happily revisit the game after it has cooked the issue out.

I've been enjoying the game so far, got close to a months worth of water, saving money for bigger rigs, with no item insurance right now I haven't been buying weapons cause I don't wanna lose em when I will die for sure lol. I know they said they will add more takedown/quiet kills(?) later on, but is nice if you melee a enemy from behind you do an knife takedown. Main problems I have atm is the death squads get called on you randomly, sometimes I kill 12 guys before they come in, randomly I will kill 2 and they get called it for some reason. Other problem, is enemy ai/spawn locations, sometimes the ai just randomly knows where you are without seeing/hearing you, and the spawns at the edges of the map need to stop spawning if I am right by it lol, too many times they pop up as I walk by.
I get people think the water system sucks, but once you get the new rigs with like 5 big slots for water etc filling up isn't a big deal, and after base upgrades, you can have over 3 months of water stored. TIP for water: play mech trenches, I start at trench area, go down to stairs, then up them, follow walkway till theres a door to your right, go through it, multiple water should be there. Then for exit go up stairs in that room to other door, hug left till you go down to a hallway towards the tunnel exit and win.
But yeah, overall having fun, even when I am jumped lol, can't wait to see it get better over time.
Funny enough, you can indeed melee stealth kill from behind. I found out last night if you approach an enemy from behind you get an indicator. Hit the melee button (Middle mouse button by default) and it stealth kills them
The guns aren't as hard to get as you think. So you don't have to worry about losing them all the time. If you get a gun rig you can pick up "Damaged" guns and "Destroyed" guns. The destroyed ones you sell. The damaged ones you fix up and they go into your stock when you get back. So, Free guns!!! And ammo is so plentiful that the only thing you'll be spending money on for the most part is guns and rigs.

Yeah needs move time in the oven. Movement looks clunky and slow. Enemies pop out of nowhere, graphics are pretty good.

after hearing what the devs said here, i got the game. ive had a lot of fun. so much that going back into SM2 is hard. this is just as much fun or can be. *settings can be at medium or low and everything still looks GREAT!*
The Forever Winter has an interesting art direction (these humongous Manga-Girls are nightmare fuel) and as soon as you realize, that you walk on corpse most of the time... I think, this will be good.
If you want a non bias review, then check video like 'The Forever Winter Early Access - What Happened?' then since he show both good, bad and the bug here (I heard they already balance the water part somewhat since it actually quite easy to get if you know what you doing though, to the point of 2 month of water storage, they still could changing that mechanic more to less 'feel bad' while balanced though. Not to mention some major bug problem he mention already hotfixed in just a day or two ! So they are fixing real quick)
Finally the dev would have wait for 1 more year to polish it more but like other said, lot of player really begging for it so they basically release dev alpha build (rather than simple beta-early access). If you guy still not sure you want to buy it or not, the dev do have short video mention that they will have a free Demo near the end of this year there

Joe this game is the opposite of a power fantasy. You are not “The Guy” you are the rat skittering in the shadows of the trenches.
This game is great. I could see it easily building a fanbase even with opening to mixed reviews, just like Hunt Showdown did. A ton of people play .01 hours just to leave a bad review and say the water system is bad.
The water system IS bad, to lose your items dying on the battlefield is one thing, but to lose everything because you have real world responsibilities? That's some ridiculous BS, this system isn't for gameplay, its sole purpose is to force retain players.
@@stephen0406 The water is so easy to collect though. I have a months worth and it only took me two days. Yes, I get it it. We are adults, I'm 30 years old and have other things going on in life. I can count on one hand how many times a week I play video games. Its 100% a way to keep players on. But its honestly so easy to farm water that it doesn't really feel like a problem. Will the devs change it? Most likely because of the backlash and Im okay with that too. I just think its blown out of proportion.
It's real simple you pay into EA, playing with each update or you wait for the finished product. People acting like they have a gun to their head here.

Needs to be more variety of loot. Right now I don't actually know what I'm working toward. I have 29.3 hours played and I'm pretty much done with the game. All traders are max rep, all factions are max rep... and as far as I can tell there is no like, actual tiers of loot beyond valuable and not valuable. Biggest thing I found was a broken grenade launcher, sold for like, 36k. I've looted the giant mechs and gotten like, maybe 5k in loot total. Which is a few trash items worth of value.
The problem this game has for me is that the only way to get weapons outside of buying them is to loot broken weapons off the ground, and maybe one in twenty will turn into a useable gun when you extract. So there is no like, opening a box and finding a super rare gun inside... and there is no armor in the game, and you can't find rig upgrades in raids that I have seen. So the actual looter mechanics of this game are EXTREMELY simple. Literally just run around opening loot, may as well hit the 'loot all' button, because it doesn't matter what you get, then extract, and the only thing that really matters is the amount of currency you get from what you looted, so that you can spend it on weapons and ammo to... go back in and loot more.
There is no end goal right now. You're doing the same exact thing hour 30 that you are hour 1.
