Our Team that rides in the office agrees with your comment about the shield removal. We spent a lot of time on that subject here. Lots of fighting internally, but In the end we wanted as low a profile as possible, and we didn't want anyone needing tools to remove the shield, so we opted for this new system. Some of our other helmets that have "base plates" unfortunately add a little bit of volume to the sides of the helmet, and ultimately that adds weight.
We felt that lighter Weight and lower Profile were more important than the shield removal process for this model. But we agree with you. and In the future, it will be improved. Source: Trust Me Bro
Also, don’t be surprised if we release some technology that eliminates the need for swapping between clear and Dark shields for this helmet…. We can’t comment fully on it now, so check back with us around Fall.

Thanks for the comment! I totally understand the tradeoffs, and in my opinion I think the tradeoff was worth it. At $250 I think this helmet was a home run that competes with helmets that are twice as expensive. Great job guys and I can't wait to see what you guys do in the future.

@@1mrracer Hey Miguel, we thought that was a great idea too, but ECE & DOT have minimum requirements for the size of the eye port. So the look would not be the same. The reason why the Covert X has such a small shield, is because it technically is an Internal Sun Visor, and its a half helmet. Making a full face that carried the same look was way more complicated. So for now, our closest in style is the New COVERT FX for a Full Face.

I bought one today. Great so far. Im getting rid of my Simpson mod bandit, doesn’t fit my head right. Im very impressed with this scorpion helmet so far. Cool features and build quality beyond price point.

Great review. One question, does this helmet have a cracked visor position to defog or get some extra air without having to put it all the way up?
It does to some degree. It won’t be a firm position but you can get it cracked open
How low profile is the fx?
Would you say this fits similar size wise to the Lane Splitter? My local store doesn't have the Covert FX in stock.
It fits much looser than the lane splitter.
Great review. Just a few points. I've got to try one yesterday, as I also like this style, and the Simpson bandit did not fit my head. I wouldn't really say it's true to size, as I'm usually a large, but in this scenario, most of my head fit well, apart from some inner liner clips around the forehead area, which were really digging into my head - so that forced me to go for the XL. Quite annoying, as the XL it's also a bigger shell making the whole helmet bigger.
You've said it's glasses-friendly. Because of the lack of an internal sunvisor, I specifically brought a pair of sunglasses with me, just to try, and it was actually quite hard to put them on.
And finally, the dark visor in UK is not really that dark. Almost as a Light Smoke - don[t know whether this has something to do with the new 22.06 certifications, but I have seen this with other helmets providers like shoei, schuberth,etc.. that their visors are not as dark as they used to, which is very annoying.
On the other hand, whilst I was there, I thought I'll try the Scorpion XH1, which is sort of similar in style, and that felt so much better. it was easy to put on, take off, very comfortable, the liner felt more premium, and guess what, I was trying the L size, I didn't have to go for the XL like I did with the Covert Fx
Hm interesting. I thought the covert fx was borderline too big for me and I thought about sizing down. It could have something to do with headshape

For the look alone I'm willing to give Scorpion another chance. The last one I owned (Exo) was to tight despite smaller pads and was causing a headache after an hour and a half.

Same for me on the EXO, it caused a little bit of pressure on my head after an hour of wearing it. This new one is really comfortable.
We do recommend trying this one on if you have a local dealer or online dealer that will allow fit returns. So far we've only heard positive feedback on the fit and comfort. Hopefully we can earn your business again!
@@ScorpionNation i also tried my regular size L my size is 58 cm and it's tight in the top of the helmet. giving a pressure and pain in the top of the head from both sides (right and left) should i go with XL ? according to the chart XL is 60-61 cm

Hi there, how would you compare the fit to your simpson ghost bandit? Do you happen to wear the same size in both brands or would you recommend going down or up a size in the Scorpion? Unfortunately i can't try on the scorpion because in Australia they dont sell it here. I run a Small in my Lane splitter and ghost bandit but my head measures in a Medium size which ive found weird
I've never had the ghost bandit but I did have the outlaw bandit and I wore size XL for both. I will say the scorpion covert fx fits a little looser than my other XL helmets.

I went with the Scorpion AT-950 with the sun peak removed instead of this one. Same style, but a little more exaggerated. A little heavier, but you get an internal sun shade and it's modular.
I was also looking at that one, really great value for the money for sure.
I had that helmet but had to return it because the visor kept opening a little, letting the wind in and making it too noisy. I had high hopes for the new version, since i love that design, but it is far too heavy for me unfortunately.
I have a couple questions if you don't mind, not trying to throw shade either. What was the helmet size you went with, and what's your height? I only ask because I'm 5'7" and got a Scorpion EXO-HX1 in Large, and it's bobblehead city. I've heard with this FX that it has three shell sizes, but I'm wanting to get a bit of perspective, so as to minimize that bobbleheadiness if possible. Thanks!
I’m an xl and 5’8 so it’s bobble head for me too
Probably late to this, but the HX1 only has two shell sizes, with the large being the first size to get the larger of the two (and shares it with 3XL..so I imagine that must be pretty huge). Whereas with the Covert FX, large has its own shell size, so hopefully that would cut down on the bulkiness since you're in a large.
How does this compare/prefer to the Exo R1 Air? Deciding between these 2 right now
The r1 is a better helmet. I have the r1 and it’s a quieter helmet, more features, and just an overall better quality

How much air does the helmet flow vs EXO R1 Air?
In my opinion a lot more. I think mainly because of the more generous sizing of the covert

Also I’ve read some reviews from Amazon buyers who mentioned about line of sight distortion. Did you have this issue?
I think you can size down to maybe a small. But that’s just my two cents. The helmet fits big and I asked scorpion about this and they said they wanted to ensure it can fit every head shape.
I never had issue with the sight distortion, I think that’s only with the clear visor and I mainly ride with the tinted visor.

@@diesel961 yes i did. I went with size small. I replaced the clear visor with the tinted visor that came with it right away. I could still see good at night since it’s not as dark. But i also bought another helmet that Im currently using, which is shoei with a transitional lenses that turns dark at day and clear at night. Best of both world. With Cardo packtalk edge hook up!
Thank you for review. I'm told I have a round head, some say it matters some not. I'm baffled also some say this helmet is okay for round some say not. More baffled. What say you or please chime in if you have a opinion, So appreciative for any thoughts on the matter.

how well do glasses work with it?
My glasses fit well in it.
How is the ventilation, especially on hot days?
Ventilation to me feels above average, largely due to a looser fit and gaps in the neck opening
