I grew up dancing to George Jones with my big sister who was madly in love with him all the way back to when he was stationed at Moffet Field! He will always be the VERY BEST country singer EVER in history!! He sings in my kitchen every day!❤
Now this is REAL COUNTRY.!!!!Country gone with George Jones and others.oh George miss you so much. There wasn't and will will never be another George Jones.wish it was possible he could come back to us❤
Vance Davenport, on fiddle, was an absolutely extraordinary musician and one of the nicest people on Earth. I worked with him for a few months, in Vegas, with "The Roy Clayborne Show". He was 17 and could play circles around any other fiddle player I'd ever heard. I'll never forget how he begged me and begged me to take him to the poker room, at The Dunes Casino, after we got done playing. I finally relented and told him we'd see if they'd deal him a hand. They did. We'd played a few hands and Vance leaned over to me and said, "Guy - that guy dealin' the cards is my shop teacher at school!". Well, I got a phone call at about 8 AM the next day and we almost got fired as the house band at The Dunes....I got my ass chewed out in a big way. I had moved back to Michigan and one day the phone rang (don't know how he got my number) and a voice said, "Guy, you remember that little fiddle player that stood next to you on the stage at The Dunes?" It was Vance and he had just gotten a job with George Jones, bought a brand new Camaro, and wanted me to drive from Flint to Port Huron see him perform. I was tied up, with college, and didn't go. I will regret that for the rest of my life. Vance passed away at 46 from renal cancer. I still miss him. Rest in peace little brother. Thanks for uploading this video.
Hey Guy -- I really appreciate this anecdote. What a wonderful story and memory. After reading this, I watched him closely as he played. He really had a bow arm, didn't he? So smooth. All best to you and may you rest well, Vance.
Love to hear him sing… one woman man. Love when he drops down to that beautiful baritone voice, Ron was awesome he never took his eyes off George. Love Tennessee Whiskey, hate how some cover it and trash it. Some things shouldn’t be messed with and that song is one of them. God Bless DAC and George
George singing with no auto tune singing all live and in the studio. No dubbing. Best voice ever in country. George you filled them shoes and after you we have Allan Jackson and that's it. I'm sad the heart of country music is almost gone. I will keep your songs playing all 900 . Iove you George R.I.P Possum Still listening on 2022and to I die.
Carl was never the same after he left Sun Records. On the recorded version of "Matchbox" Sam got a really hard edge on Carl's guitar, that I've never heard him repeat on stage. And he just isn't the same. A really great guy though.
I just listened to the performance George did at ACL in 1980. (It’s on UA-cam.) He sounds better on this 1990 performance. Sobriety? I don’t know. But he sounds fantastic here.

Schade dass ich George Jones nie live gesehen habe 😩❤️❤️❤️
George is the best always, love hearing him cannot stop lessening to him. Country magic
Ron Gaddis is so beautiful! George well what can i say there are just no words!
It doesn't get any better George is the best ☺️
Two classics, this was fun to watch.
I wish I could have met that sweet blonde in blue at 55:19. George could have written a nice love song about her.
Carl Perkins stayed true to Rock & Roll!
I miss him so much.

Alan, George Strait, Dwight, Vince, I really love Joe Nichols and Chris Stapleton.
George you get me through depressing times especially right now. Thanks Possum!! PBS don’t you ever fucking get rid of Austin City Limits!!!
I was there! Carl Perkins! The part got cut where he said BSShoes song paid his alimony! Haha. Great show! They don't make em like that anymore!
With Season 15 of Austin City Limits in 1990, Austin City Limits celebrated its 15th anniversary on PBS.👍
Carl Perkins always promoted the rockabilly sound and never himself.
George looks like he’s having a good time playing here
He seemed the most alive on stage. Elvis, Sinatra Dean Martin, and Marvin Gaye were like that too.
Simply the best to ever do it......and it ain't even close.
Real country music George Jones sings
Legends
Blessed 🙌

Greatest country singer of all time, followed close by George Strait!

Love u❤debbie
always wondered why George never had an acoustic-elec guitar to hear his strumming techniques better
No more blue suede shoes out there but good times

Wondered the same thing, I knew his name at one point and he was still in Nashville then. He could certainly fly on that tele that’s for sure.
