At 14:29 there is a point firing Ion on unshielded targets; all ion damage converts to Ionize damage, which forces a random delay at 6 points. Ion spear is a guaranteed delay at 8 damage
Hooded horse are having a run at the moment. I really like how the aesthetics of their games are somehow converging, for example the ship designs of the game here, and Nebulous Fleet Command, and Falling Frontier, and Terra Invictus. Each of them are independent games, not even sharing lore, but you can tell that they come from the same birth place.
Falling Frontier is looking amazing. 👀 I can't say too much more. But there are a little bits of in development stuff StutterFox shared on discord that i was allowed to post to YT.
@@Hellfire8 I'm so curious about FF because what's available (that I have seen) doesn't show the full gameplay flow yet and I'm not sure how it's going to play.
@@Phrosphor I can't share much more than what's been shown but I think people will be very surprised. A lot has changed from the original outset as the Dev has learnt more and realised what works and doesn't work. Unfortunately being a single Dev we won't see a demo due to the commitment needed for that. But I do believe it will be worth the wait.
I have had this game on my wishlist since the first time the demo was availiable. Really enjoyed seeing you play it and show off some of the 'new' stuff!
While it doesn't have *all* of FTL's play loop, I still really liked the aesthetic of Nowhere Prophet, especially since the unit HP reminds me a lot of the module HP + card slots in this game
This game needs undo button (there is no reason not to have this for actions that don't involve randomization or reveal new info). Too easy to ruin the turn with basic math mistake.
Not gonna lie, when you said mixed with FTL, my heart sank, but hearing it's a card based game, I felt better. Nothing worse than seeing someone make a similar game to yours and beat you to the punch. Thankfully that's not the case here. Love your stuff Phos.
I think I sadly had a misconception that the Ion would only work if they were shielded and forgot I had cards that could Ionise without shields to destroy.
I think heat management will be a big thing later in development. There are IR lasers that overheat the target and cause it to take heat damage if it can't flush the heat fast enough already.
Throwing out an idea (after I binge-watched all your Xenonauts vids), how about having a go at a Phoenix Point run after your Milestone 2 Xenonauts run? Similar mechanics, so your Xenonauts watchers have something to tide them over.
No, I would always make a point to note that. Nothing I have done on my channel has been sponsored except the first bit of my Xenonauts 2 Campaign (and then it was more just a shop link thing.) HH just let me have a key to a slightly different build in the hopes I would cover it but we had no deal or anything in place :)
Did you run into any bug during the prologue? On my third battle when the crew skill was introduced the game glitched out and I couldn't do anything beside pressing space bar and skip the turn
Oh no, that sucks! Nothing like that happened to me but I do have a slightly different version than the demo in the Next Fest. Hopefully the devs are aware and it gets fixed!

You are right, I had it in my head my ions didn't do enough to ionise without breaking shields but I think they could have.

jau hooded horse brought some bangers: against the storm, old world and soon manor lords.
Don't forget Manor Lords! They have a huge catalog of neat looking games. Reminds me of old Paradox a bit.

weapon coolant instantly finishes the cooldown of a card allowing it to go back into the draw pile from the discard pile
Ahhhhhh, I was expecting it to draw into my hand but that makes so much sense now. Thank you.
Looks nice. Just a heads up Hooded Horse are the publishers. Edgeflow Studios are the developers :-)
Good point! I had it in my notes and feel awful for not mentioning it.
@@Phrosphor nothing to feel bad with. You're still bringing attention to a new wonderful game. I know I wish listed it due to your video

I am glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully they can get the Lancer and Railguns out to everyone else soon!
That ship on the menu screen makes me fear that the dorsal mounts will inadvertently fire upon each other lmao
Hah, I think they do a lot of rolling to avoid that!
But I like the radiators in the back.
This game looks neat. I’ve been playing a ton of Crying Suns, which is another FTL like that didn’t get enough press. It’s super under rated.
crying suns is amazing! really liked the story too. very well written.

Damn I’ve been following this game for years! Crazy to see it here now.
It's pretty fun, I am looking forward to trying the full version.
great video looking for to seeing more of this game!
Thanks, I will take another look as it gets closer to release probably!

That is a great suggestion also for order of operations mistakes.

Hah, sorry to give you a scare!
I think you are discounting the ion's ability to delay the enemy one turn for every 6 ion points too much.

Just discovered this game, cannot believe I hadn't heard about it before - really amazing!
it's like a good bit of fun I'll give the demo a play thanks for the video and the knowledge
Oh, and the spaceships have radiators too! Kinda optional, it seems, but never the less.
I think heat management will be a big thing later in development. There are IR lasers that overheat the target and cause it to take heat damage if it can't flush the heat fast enough already.
What would be cool is ftl mixed with nebulous fleet command.
edit: one can dream.
That would be a pretty cool game mode!
Ahh, I love FTL! Amazing game
The FTL soundtrack still has a special place in my heart, such a great game.
This really feels ike you could classify it as a rouge-lite too?
Yeah I think you could easily say that, could catch!

A few people have mentioned Phoenix Point, my impression was it is quite buggy?
@@Phrosphor complete edition is stable in my experience. Would love to see you take a crack at it!
Wow, early acces. You sure a living the succes.
There is a free demo on Steam
I got access to the Lancer and Railgun/Hacking stuff courtesy of Hooded Horse and Edgeflow Studio :)
was this sponsored content?

I do love me some space gamesn so subscribe i guess
I do play a lot of space games! Thanks for the sub!
Card based? I'm out. Upvote for the effort of making the video though.
Understandable, this is just a one-off and not the start of a series.
