- The Honda Civic is one of those stereotypical cars. If you own a slightly modified Civic, people assume you are a ricer. But, the 6th Gen Honda Civic EK EJ or EM can actually be pretty sweet and not meet those stereotypes if its modified cleanly.

I couldn't disagree more about annoying other people. When it comes to modding YOUR car, screw other people. Its YOUR car. YOU mod it for YOU. YOU want a giant wing on YOUR car, put one on! Don't mod your car for other peoples taste. Thats why they have their own cars.

I try to preach this on a daily basis. The problem with most people is they build cars that other people will like and compromise for what they really and truly want. I respect everyone’s build, even if it’s not my style, build what you want for your liking!!!

Are these reliable? I found a 2000 Civic sedan for $1500. It's not in too bad of shape. Dents and dings. It has the top half of the motor rebuilt and new timing belt is what the owner says. 200k miles.
I'm not looking for a hotrod. I got a Mustang GT and Crown Vic.
I want a daily driving gas saver that is reliable. I always hear Civics are reliable.

I got a silver ‘00 HX (D16y5, the engine designed for maximum efficiency that wasn’t mentioned)coupe 5 speed last year as a cheap manual commuter car, and I’m thinking about maybe doing a B series swap as well as making it look nice again since it’s not exactly the prettiest with some dings and scratches and a little bit of paint fading

I'd love to own one as my first daily and project car, but people will steal these therefore a 7nth gen Honda Civic or 6th gen Honda Accord coupe are my main choices. 🙏😞💙
I really do understand that some find modifications cool. But I have a stock 1997 Honda Civic. I bought the '97 Civic brand new, it's a bad tank where I don't get 40 mpg, and I have about 350k miles (not km, miles) on it. I just had to replace the input shaft bearing (it's stick), and I did the other bearings and clutch while I was at it. But besides that, it is the original powertrain, and the only other expensive repair that was needed was the power steering rack. Made my last car payment the week of 9/11/01, and haven't had to look back. That's what I like

Impressive. Here I was thinking I am end of life at 150k miles. I have done the clutch. I am getting a lot of kick at the gear change so going to ask mechanic to check the motor mounts. One bearing in the rear wheel needs doing too. Oh and the radiator. Price wise it is easy to keep on the road. Though a fresh paint job would be costly.
@@markoq1879 I did have to replace motor mounts, a wheel bearing (front for me), and the radiator at various times. When I said the only expensive repairs, I meant more than that. The third most expensive thing I had done was rust removal. I never had it painted afterwards (I had it painted maybe 10-15 years ago) although it can really use it. Mark, if you want, have a look at my channel-I have videos of my Civic. (I make a video every 25k miles. I started doing this at 100k, and started posting the vids at 250k) I also have other vids about the Civic up-I recommend viewing my playlists as I have a lot of eclectic stuff on yt.
i really like the ek civic hatchback. but the thing is I can’t find any stock. they’re all modified.
my civic has a full skunk2 exhaust system (it was on there when i bought the car) but idk if its toooo loud. Does vibrate the side and rear view mirrors tho lol, the vibration runs thru the whole car.

I def disagree on the modding part. Being annoying to other people only really comes down to how loud the car is.
