I tend to learn the most about Redstone from UA-camrs who have a tentative grasp on the principles and are kind of half figuring it out as they go along. Not casting aspersions because you're definitely 100% without question a Redstone genius, but let's just say I learned something here today.

Lag reduce type - you can replace top line of hoppers with water stream. You can also put the color indicating wool blocks straight on the floor instead of item frames.

Nice work :) I learned that dropper circuit a couple of months ago and now my base is filled with droppers, water streams, and bubble columns. Everything turns up inside my villager hall and life is easy.
Despite being a programmer, I don't really understand redstone so I was quite proud of myself when I figured out how to make my minecart unloader pause during the night while the farmer villagers are asleep 🤣
Pretty sure impulse sorters and etho clocks are the bedrock of most worlds. ianxofour deserves a place in the redstone pantheon too - he belongs up there with those guys, doc, and mango.
I really like your Redstone episodes because it’s really hard for me to learn about it and you make it very digestible for newbies!
I made a sorting system for wool recently and you can save a row of hoppers and have water flow directly on top of the sorting hoppers. They`ll still pick up the items they want. Just need to figure out the water flow if you have longer than 8 blocks for items to travel over the hoppers. But still, eliminating hoppers means less lag.
Wattles, this is a great video, but I just want you to know that I was about to beat the last level in geometry dash but was interrupted by the notification for this video. I was at 98% I unalived.

I was sitting here like "why does Champagne Toast sound so familiar??" for like an hour, before I looked on my nightstand and remembered that I bought Champagne Toast from Bath & Body Works today. Can confirm, champagne toast smells very fancy.
As I watch the sacrifice of cows I think about the cow crusher farm in that demonic sphinx and how much leather must be in those chests. As I recall it's why it was built! lol

Im gonna agree with you, granite looks good if you use it correctly. It’s definitely not a main building block, maybe a texture block or background block. If you use it the right way it can look amazing.

Summon lots of iron golems to kill the wither, it's really simple and helpful.

To solve the dropper problem, set up a redstone clock with 4 repeaters, a 5th repeater goes as an output from the clock and is locked by another repeater on it's side with a redstone torch behind it.
The redstone torch should sit on the side of a block, not on the floor, yet another repeater is behind that block and behind it the comparator, going out from the dispenser.
Now anytime you put an item in the dispenser it will switch off the torch, allowing the output of the clock to go back to the dispenser and give the signal to throw the item.
Since there is a clock, as long as there are items in the dispenser they will be thrown out, at the speed in which the clock ticks.
The massive builds are always my favorite
I know a really neat and simple system for making the dropper spit out items regularly.
I know a simple way to make the shears run out slower, it is replacing the chains next to the dispensers with hoppers, and putting chests on top of those, and filling all the slots with shears.

Hey wattles I was having a similar issue with my iron farm as well, for some reason the problem was optifine. Whenever I was running optifine the farm would only work at night. I do have a different iron farm than yours so I can't say the design is the problem, but maybe try playing without optifine to see if it works?

FUN episode. 🙂 Lag reduce - I recently learned to use composters on top of the hoppers & they're easy to visually hide.
I'm going to build this in my Create Mod world with the cool bits & bobs. I want to see if I can make it with fewer hoppers mainly out of curiosity but also as I play Peaceful in it. (Until I'm more comfortable putting things together & making them work as when I hang out fiddling around with things the Dam... um - CUTE - skeletons & zombies love to come over & play. 🤪) Also, my Iron farm doesn't produce as much Iron as in my difficult worlds for some reason.

Who still remembers the days of minecraft guide season 2. 2 and a half years ago now. Have that same storage building in my past 2 worlds, but in my new base, i got the most resent one.

Wattles, I believe item frames are entities so having them would add up to the lag. I would suggest that you place the wool instead of using them on the item frames.
Also, the setup of the hoppers and chests is not efficient since once the wool reaches to the next chest, they will not move to the lowest chest if you take from the lowest chest.
yo your sorters are overflow-safe the way you've built them and loaded with 41-1-1-1-1. You did great!
Any plans on editing these to go into shulker loaders? Or make a shulker farm?

I would love to use water to move stuff for my automatic sorter. But isn’t there a chance of loosing items as they get sorted? Or are you just not too worried about loosing a few pieces because of the type of sorter it is

I just set up a whole bunch of droppers to toss stuff into water to mover items around. No observers needed. A dropper with a comparator and repeater coming out the back. a redstone conducting block (I just used stone)next to it and redstone stone going around the back of the set up.A little less compact but costs less and a lot quieter

Couldn’t you use the Minecraft unloader set up to make the system work as well? Like add a repeater?

An idea for a new iron farm. Build it somewhere over your town but disguise it as a ufo and it's tractor beam is a glass tube for the iron golems to fall down into a killing chamber disguised as an alien embassy.

No. Not really. If they have items in the hoppers that are not in the chest they do but not item that are in the chests. Unless you have like 150 sorters.

You definitely had a zombie in your water stream when you were closing things back up, if he picks up wool he won’t despawn. Not really an issue, but annoying from an audio perspective when you are inside the area.
if you put glass on the 4 sides of the saplings and one block above the sapling, you are guarantied to get a big tree

You don’t actually need the top hopper line (facing into each other) the water stream replaces that line.
That’s only if you run the water stream all the way, the way you did it works too but it’s more expensive (more hoppers lol)

Could have removed the top line of hoppers and they run over the locked hopper. They only go into the proper hoppers. Then add a cactus at the end for overflow. If those do fill up your going to have to dig it up to remove the wool in the top line.

I could show you my iron farm that runs 4 iron golems into one pit also have a hopper clock on a dropper to get rid of the poppys after it runs through a simple item sorter
Make the Dropper face downward into the water stream and surround the Dropper with blocks
wattles i followed this video and for some reason i have red wool in the first chest and white in the last chest and some times red wool will end up in my white wool chest how to fix this

Idk if your still concerned about the lag situation in this world but placing composters or furnaces on the top hoppers will help with lag from the hoppers around the storage system
