I highly recommend an iron pickaxe with Fortune 3 and no efficiency for harvesting amethyst. Much less likely to accidentally break the budding amethyst blocks. Could store it in an item frame somewhere as decoration too.
This, and never mine toward the block. Always to the side.
@@ThisOldSkater definitely. my 1 fortune 3 diamond pickax is what I use which has efficiency 5, and diamond is still perfect enough, as long as you absolutely always mine from the side, like you said. if you ever forget to mine from the side, then no efficiency is better. at that point, it's also a matter of what suits you best. as long as you never break the wrong ones, you're doing it right.

hey wattles you should definitely swap out the signs by the water elevator with glow lichen it achieves the same effect and fits in a bit better than the signs

This is just a suggestion, but replace the path in the wheatfield with some of the new packed mud blocks maybe ?

i used scaffolding for my amethyst farm just like that, after a couple months i flooded the whole thing and added a conduit - never once have I regretted it

Watlles if you put white carpet on the powder snow at the bottom of the drop it will prevent any fall demage and you won't sink in to it or get frozen

You should find a mangrove swamp and put an outpost there, maybe the water wheel idea can go there?
This idea works well.
When you are dropping down into the farm, I think you should put in purple candles along the walls in different spots. That way you can still see where you are going and it won't feel so scary as you drop into it.
So about the iorn trapdoor and lanterns, I think ot would look a lot better if you used stone walls instead🤔 I feel like the trapdoors just look too out of place🤷

I also harvest my amethyst manually, but I still like an allay for item collection. The shards fall all over the place, and I like to know that I’m getting them all.

Love the idea of the water wheel- but may I suggest building a home for your lovely strider friend out in the lava ocean?
Everyone will always ask "where were you when you heard about the queen?" and I'm going to have to tell them every time I was watching Wattles create an amethyst farm
For the water landing at the bottom, I like to put signs up two blocks from the landing spot and put water above that. It's a lot cleaner for long drops, no damage, and you don't have to worry about getting out of the water. (: love your videos!

An under ground town thing would be a cool idea for the cave maybe for some villagers
Instead of the iron trap door give stone walls a try. I use it for my base whenever I want lanterns hanging down

Great build. Like it. I like hanging lanterns, I also add a single fence or stone wall and hang them off that. If you have a really high ceiling hang 1 chain and 1 lantern then fix another chain and lantern to the bottom, it looks like the lanterns are linked and bunched together.

Thank you for your videos Wattles, they're always inspiring and very well done! This farm is very nice and I totally agree with you about the automation problem of amethyst farms. Maybe flood the entire farm and use a conduit would be even a better solution than scaffolding

that looks so awesome, probably one of my favorite builds you've done yet. The iron trapdoors and the signs don't really fit in in my opinion. I would use walls or spruce fences to hang them from. Maybe an iron bar?

A Thought for Geode Lab Lighting: I'd LOVE to see 1 or just a FEW of the Pearlescent Froglights in there. 🤔 Was specifically thinking to use 1 on the underside of the ceiling's glass drop-in pool so it lights both a li'l bit above the geode as well as the top and interior of the room area.
Color AND function=BONUS! 😎 Plus they have a nice cooler tone of brilliance adding to the whole scientific lab vibe.

Wattles your amethyst growing model thing on the table at the side will grow, so you will keep having to replace them with small ones again.
Hi Wattles, you should build something related to a Minecraft season three the guide and if you like giving your world lore you could say that a time rift happened
May be harder to decorate but you could flood the geode to make it easier to harvest, and the lore could be the scientists studying the amethyst had their roof cave in, it would also mean you can hop straight in without the floating tinted glass pool

What you need next is transpeak railway connecting your mountain to the nextbmountain behind the windmill. Please make it happen @wattles 👊
if you fill the whole room with water you are far less likely to break the budding amethysts while harvesting AND you get amazing three dimensionnal movement IN the geode. A conduit, respiration 3 helmet or waterbreathing potion solves the breathing issue

I would really recommend make sort of platforms with the trapdors, like a little walkway, it will double up as an actual walkway to harvest amethist!
I don't understand how so many of the pro Minecraft UA-camrs, throughout their videos don't stay full. It's the most basic 101 kinda thing... Especially on hardcore mode, eat man lol I'm always tweeking about that haha
Fill the farm with water. Then you can swim around and harvest the crystals. They’ll float to the top. After that, add water as the top layer of water, then another stream on whichever side you are collecting the shards. Add a hopper and a double chest.
You should try silk-touching the budding amethyst blocks and building a farm somewhere else. You could maybe build a fancy one on the surface. It would look cool 😎

I just made a double geode farm using illmangos flying machine design. Took me multiple days of pretty consistent work. Probably close to a week

I recommend an iron pickaxe with Fortune III. It's a lot less easy to break a budding block that way.
I love the lanterns, but I think you should do the lever trick instead of trapdoors.

you can put powder snow with white carpet in the middle. that way you won't take fall damage and won't freeze either.
also use levers instead of trapdoors for the lanterns.

I got lucky when the update for geodes dropped. I had 2 in close proximity to each other down under my main base.
Did the jumping and climbing game until that got old. I finally waterlogged them both, added a conduit between them, and haven't looked back. Eventual project is to modify the tanks to collect the amethyst as it floats to the top of the tanks.
You should do an episode where you try to collect as many mob heads as you can. I think that would be fun to see.

You've named every building in the town yet there's no name for the town!!! Also I'm glad the windmill is helping reduce lag too. lol
Is there a way to automate chorus farming? I’m using a crossbow with multi shot to harvest flowers and water to push the rest into hoppers.
Fill it with water and put a conduit for collecting it. Can glow berries be waterlogged? I love this room tho. Do froglights in place of the lanterns, your choice on color, but the chains and trap door is cool
It would mar the open look, but glass floors every ~6 blocks or so is a good way to reach all the amethyst. A little cleaner looking than a bunch of scaffolding.

Don't throw away the calcite or the dark stuff (basalt?), it makes great building material. I made an entire house with calcite, and dark stuff slabs for the roof.

Can budding amethyst be moved using pistons? if so you might be able to lower some of that high stuff making it easier to harvest.
As u have built a massive beetroot farm u could build massive farms for every crop

I'm using conduit for amethyst farm. Idk it's better or not, but aquarium geode looks good.
