Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time UA-camr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. This is such a great idea! Would you do a separate one with indie brands? There might be some overlap but I don't really use any truly high-end brand, whereas with indie ones I could really pick some favourites 🥰

I think an interesting topic is when products are used in a way that's different from their intended purpose. For example, the elf luminous camo concealer is the best eye primer I've ever used! LA colors mini eye shadow palette in shades of pink and mauve makes a great blush. Anyone else like to mix it up?
Yes you're right! I always use the Elf Luminous Camo when I'm doing a cut crease and it's perfect for that!
Love mixing it up!! I use blush, bronzer, and highlighter for eyeshadow all the time and have def done eyeshadow for blush a ton. Also have used either cream blush or even cream bronzer for lips before when I was looking for a certain cohesive look and none of my lip products were doing it for me lol
I’m 53 and I can still remember as a little girl watching my Mom dab lipstick on her cheeks for blush! I guess she was ahead of her time!
🥰💄I also use products for multi purposes. Have used loose powder and bronzers as eyeshadows over the years many times.
I have done a full face just with a face palette from elf (I mean eyes and face, of course) and the Juvia's Place Blushed Rose eye palette as well has done double duty. I'm all for it as long as it's not irritating to my eyes!

The Morphe Continuous Setting Spray is by far the best! It does not contain alcohol, it’s affordable and the mister is unbeatable by any of the other drugstore setting sprays.
The only setting spray my sensitive skin can handle. It is the best mist and works perfectly.

I'll never buy anything Morphe, and no, $17.00 isn't "affordable" for a drugstore setting spray. I like the original Elf setting mist in the black bottle. Unsure if it contains alcohol, but it works great for me, and it's only $6.00. The mister is super fine, and it doesn't feel drying either.
I said it was affordable seeing as many Drugstore brands such as NYX, Revlon, Milani, L’Oreal, Physicians Formula etc have greatly increased in price and where I live there are many products that hit the $20 mark at the drugstore, if not beyond that. I certainly understand if you are not wanting to support a specific brand, and I’m glad you have found the elf setting spray is your go-to for $6, that’s fantastic 😊
@@dreamscape405 the original e.l.f. makeup mist & set does not contain alcohol! It's a thumbs-up from me. I have dry, sensitive skin, so I also like the hydrating dewy mist from Fourth Ray Beauty and the new Real Techniques spray with the yellow cap. It's under $11 and freaking amazing.
Revlon lipsticks are one of the few that don’t dry out my lips. I have a huge collection. My favorite shades are Blushed, Smoky Rose, Blushing Mauve and Goldpearl Plum.

Very dry skin requires special foundation, that’s for sure. At this point I only consider foundation recommendations from people with very dry skin. It’s interesting to hear about the polling results.
Love the L’Oréal infallible and the physicians formula bronzers loved this video. Side note: your hair looks beautiful.

Hi Jen!! Thanks so much for this. I am soooo happy Revlon won for lipstick. I think their formula is top notch - and I am a lipstick 💄 nut! My mom always wore Cherries In the Snow for as long as I can remember and I am 57! They still make it. I went and bought a tube recently and have it on my makeup table in her honor. It is a beautiful blue undertone red and looked nice on her fair skin. Thank you again for putting out great content for all us makeup lovers.
It's funny to discover where my opinion is 180° opposite other people's. Items on the list that totally bombed for me: Essence pure nude highlighter, L'Oreal foundation, Milani Luminoso, Almay Healthy Hue blush, elf bite size eyeshadow, Fit Me loose powder, elf putty primer, blush, and sheer sticks. But it wasn't all bad, there were several items on the list that I loved too! Thanks Jen for another interesting video.

I don't like elf all that much in general and I hate the Milani baked blushes! Everyone's preferences are different :)
Agreed! The essence highlighter did not look good on me at all, the L’Oréal foundations were too dry, and the wet n wild foundation looked terrible on me!
Completely hate the wet n wild foundations. They make my face look like those ugly old ivory colored purses one finds at the thrift shop.

I'd love to see you do a high-end version of this. Simply because I would assume most of your viewers prefer drugstore, it would be interesting to see what everyone thinks is worth a splurge.
Also, I feel so alone in my dislike of the Instant Age Rewind concealer. That stuff ages my undereyes about 10 years.
Yes. I have wasted way to much money on high-end and I'm done.its money I'll never see again and 90% of the time I choose my drugstore makeup and my purse doesn't hurt bad at all. I learned the hard way

The only high end makeup product that’s worth the splurge to me is the Kosas concealer. It’s the best I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried a lot!
What an awesome video! It felt like a virtual pajama party with all the makeup tossed in the middle and trying out things. I love the changes you made to your channel. When it comes to primers, the Maybelline Baby Skin primer is hands down the best I've found for minimizing the look of big pores and taking the shine down on your face. I never see anyone talk about it but omg it's crazy good. If you're a normal to oily gal with big pores in the t zone you should definitely give it a try.
I haven't tried it in many years, but I remember it being similar to the Smashbox Photo Finish primer. I'll have to test it out again!

This way the Makeup Community 💄 which is us, know what's worth our $$ & what's not. I agree that Elf Putty Primer is amazing, but noone mentioned wet n wild single shadows which I still reach for almost daily.

I feel the same way as you do about the Loreal infallible foundation. It looks beautiful when I first put it on, but after an hour or two my skin looks sooo dehydrated. I haven’t even bothered to try the true match nude because of the high alcohol content. I like the OG true match.

L’Oréal kicked butt! I love L’Oréal so I’m glad it got a lot of votes. I absolutely love the Lash Paradise! It makes my lashes look amazing! I love the Wet n Wild Incognito concealer. It’s super light coverage so it double as a foundation. It’s beautiful for light coverage, barely there makeup days. I’m shocked that Colourpop wasn’t on there more! Their products are spot on and I love them! Especially their pallets! I love “That’s Taupe”. Such a good pallet. Great video. It’s nice to see what people are liking.

This was so great! 🤗❤️ I do love that elf grip primer and I’m not a huge primer fan 😆 Ooh and that Essence blush is a hidden gem!
I love the Milani, Revlon and Maybelline lipsticks. My favorite eyeshadows from the drugstore are the ELF and Profusion palettes. I love the Wet N' Wild Photofocus loose setting powder. I really like the Physician Formula and Revlon blushes. To this day and I have been using the Maybelline Fit Me concealer for years, I still think it is the best concealer at the drugstore but I also like the ELF Hydrating Camo Concealer. The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is still my favorite drugstore foundation. The Loreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black is still my favorite mascara but I like the ELF Lash It Loud and Big Moods mascaras.

Those Revlon lipsticks are so great. I bought one in an emergency when I needed a lip color on the go, and now I have an embarrassing amount of shades.

Thank you for all your reviews and tips because of you i have found some favorites i wouldn't have found in the drugstore nyx eyebrow snatch pen , loreal or revlon not sure color lip balms i love them , milani tubing mascara OMG this actually gives me lashes !!! and colourpop eyeshadows oh my goodness they are great i have a rose pallet and peach one love love. You are a FAV influencer of mine because your honest and that i really appreciate i am definitely a fan! Thank you for all your hard work at the reviews and thank you for appreciating the fact that we splurge sometimes on the high end but we need to save as well and doing your dupes videos are another favorite of mine thanks again !

Jen- I LOVE your recommendations. I don’t know if you and I have the same skin but I sneer at the loreal foundations . There is a smell in there that I can’t handle - I don’t mind the paint smell but it’s that weird floral .

I loved this video Jen! I was surprised to hear that some of my favs actually came in 1st place. Also, I had questions about some of the other items that made it to the top, i.e. how good they are. I use many of these, was a little surprised that Wet n Wild didn’t show up more. I do think their photo focus foundation is this the best for drug store over some of the others that rated higher. Thanks again! 🤗
Me too! I kind of wonder if maybe Wet n Wild just isn't on people's minds a lot since they don't really advertise and not a lot of UA-camrs talk about them anymore. I definitely have a lot of favorites from them!
I never got the hype with Luminoso. I bought into it and got it along with a couple of other shades... It was easily the most uninteresting. Love Essence's The Blush, though. Would love for them to expand the line, it just sucks they are beginning to discontinue things fast :/
Jen, this was great! Especially for someone like me who does not purchase a lot of cosmetics.
I love Maybelline lifter gloss Silk, I hardly use my City Lips. I might even purchase a 2nd color, when I see them on sale. Drug store prices have certainly taken a big jump.
I enjoyed seeing what others favorites are, I have some of these products that I agree are great and are my favorites. My favorite bronzer is the Loreal Lumi bronzer, nice look to it and applies well. Maybelline mascaras are my go to drugstore brand anytime I need and want a mascara. The Milani lipsticks are my favorite drugstore ones to use, excellent formula and pigmented.
This is such a wonderful idea. I watch all your videos because you are the best at dupes and swatches (you present them beautifully). It is nice to see what other people use too, because so many YTubers show what looks good on them, many are very self-centered, but you are not like that. Your content is the most useful and your presentation is always a delight. Thank you!
