As a note: I could see out of my passenger window + I could see both side mirrors. I could also see out the back a bit! A quilt held things back in my backseat. The angle with which I took the thumbnail pic is strange, so I wanted to clarify! In the chaos of moving alone, I didn't get to show this well. If you’re making a long drive like this, remember - safety first! :)
omg that vintage market was DREAMY!! when i left LA i missed the local artisan fairs the most. this video was so thorough & thoroughly sentimental!!! your love for minneapolis really leapt out. would love to see more vloggy vids in CO!!
Wowww I am so impressed by how independent you are! I know you had some struggles but that is normal. I just moved for the first time (30 min away with my bf) and I just had a terrible time moving. I couldn't do it without my friends and family. It seems so exciting but it is so stressful. I commend you and your strength!
I just made this exact move (moving by car and all), but in reverse! I'm from MN originally, then moved to CO for three years, and just moved back to MN. It's bittersweet, but Colorado is amazing! Best of luck!
I’m literally just as obsessive about my space and moving girl I feel you. Plan that shit out!! Envision it!! 😤😤 lol. Maybe it’s a designer’s personality trait ..
I hope you are proud and giving yourself a pat on the back for taking this on! Even under the best circumstances moving is so so difficult, just wanted to give you props for powering through. You've gained a new subscriber. Best of luck
Girl!!! Let me tell ya, I needed this video for motivation. I’m also moving to Colorado in a couple of months from TX. Excited for that fresh start, but also bittersweet leaving a place I’ve personally developed in. Good luck to you and your new beginning. Cheers to us new mountain gals 🥂🏔💚
I'm currently considering moving back to France after years of living in Scotland (it'll be 7 years in September), and the prospect of packing the contents of my one bedroom flat into a car to cross the border without leaving my prized possessions behind is daunting to say the least. So I guess oddly this is the video I needed?? loved your home tour too btw but this hit the spot for me.
Wow. In awe that you did that all by yourself! AMAZIN’. Screaming at the first scene of you and Henry together in Colorado is him putting on your iconic Jack Black lip balm 😂😂 Also, what style boots were you wearing throughout the majority of the vid?! They’re so cute!!!
Honestly I would never want to do all of that alone again lol. And lol yes, I got him addicted as well!! And they’re Doc Martens! www.drmartens.com/us/en/p/womens-boots-burnished-wyoming-leonore
I just came back from Colorado today! It was so amazing spending time in the Rockies. I know you’ll love CO, i feel like it definitely fits your vibes! Happy new year! 🥳
Organization goals, I swear. I didn't even think about using up the money on the laundry app, gotta remember that one for the future. What did you end up doing with your mattress?
This is so relatable right now, I moved from Minneapolis to California last year and moving is so exhausting and what a long haul you had to do. I bet spreading it out over a couple of weeks helped you to process. THOSE VACUUM SEAL BAGS THOUGHHHH
Ahhh, I loved everything about this video! I've never moved long distances and it was so interesting watching you sell so much and pack. Colorado looks amazing!! Wishing you both every happiness 😊
Sad I only just found you in the last week! I I’m a thrifter in the twin cities. My hubby and I want to leave the cold someday, but for now I’ll just live vicariously through others who get out lol! To be fair, the weather hasn’t been too bad this year, but definitely not Thai food in a park kind of days! Good luck to you!
So excited and happy for you! I'm also planning to move from Minnesota to Colorado to reunite with my partner and making it happen this year since I decided to postpone my plans due to the pandemic. I can't wait! Hope you're settling well :D
Wow I am going to reference this video the next time I move! Love the Pinterest board breakdown and the layout prep. Just found your channel today, love your content already!
Hi Tara, nice video. I recently moved from Minneapolis myself from basically the same area. I was directly across the street from Lauren Park. I moved to California of all places. I don’t think I’ll be staying in California after my lease is up but I thought about moving to CO, OR, or WA. My question to you is, why did you decide to move to CO? Also, I think you chose the perfect time to move from your neighborhood. When I left there, it had gotten so bad. Hopefully things have changed in the 6 months since I’ve been away.
Which type of car do you have? I’m moving California to colorado on this weekend and I have 1 large bag 1 M bag 1 cooler, 2 carry on 3 backpack. I’m renting a car full size, I hope everything can fit
I used the ubox storage unit for my move from ohio to minnesota! Was a little pricey but storage is included which i didn’t think was needed but ended up being a lifesaver. We were able to move his old furniture out for mine and kind of lay stuff out. And i drove my 2007 hyundai accent 13 hours while my pod was being shipped. With covid, all the highways were pretty much empty but it was really fun. Safe and happy journey! :)
I'm moving from Minneapolis to Utah this month - thanks for the vintage shop recommendation and the other tips! P.S. love your hair and I'm so glad Target lets you work remote
Wow looking at all the comments I see so many people are moving to Colorado. I guess this is why the interstates and hwys are so busy now. Lived in boulder area my whole life. Love it
Omg you have so much clothes. I can’t believe you moved all that stuff out of your apartment so quickly, that would’ve taken me forever. I don’t think everything I own could fit into my car so kiddos, I feel like the amount of clothes you have is equal to the amount of books I own.
I’m currently a design student at UMN and I found your channel through your study abroad videos (I had planned on doing the same program but COVID put a wrench in those plans for me). It’s been so wonderful to see your life in MPLS and I wish you weren’t leaving, but best of luck in Colorado!
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen but I love it! Your editing, how you talk to the camera, etc. Huge congratulations on the move and I hope we can see some design videos in the new place!
loved this video, tara! can't wait to see your new adventures in colorado. i moved from seattle to north carolina earlier this year, so i really understand the struggle of moving far and during the pandemic! side note: where are all of your matching sweatsuits from? they're so cute
I’m from Mississippi and moved to the Whittier area of Minneapolis a year ago after living abroad for 3 years by myself, and my husband joined me later. Minnesota is nice, but I feel like living abroad has completely changed how I view...living. Already planning the next move. Very informative video! I feel like you planned out your selling and donations so well. Congratulations! I know how hard it was alone!
Well welcome to Colorado. :-) My wife and I moved here from Buffalo NY in 2006 and fell in love with it immediately. We also go to Minnesota each year for an anime convention (sans Covid years), so I know how long and boring the drive between areas can be, especially when going through Iowa. UGH!! Hope you enjoy it here.
Okay so there are many cons to moving here (if you want to move here go for it), however, please understand the cons. - Pricing: the legalization of marijuana has brought a HUGE wave of new people wanting to live here (and also money to the state); therefore, pricing has sky rocketed. In my experience, looking for a simple apartment near downtown or neighboring cities (Englewood, Aurora is cheap but is noticed as not a desire place to live, Boulder, Broomfield, Lone Tree, etc) can cost damn near over 2,000 a month. Of course, you can always find cheaper and still have a home like apartment but, if you aren’t financially stable enough please take this into consideration. This is only talking about living space, I have yet to even mention Insurance, food, car maintenance (mostly gas), going out with friends, etc. SNOW: If you have never driven in any states where it snows....PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONDITIONS SERIOUSLY. Hell even native Coloradans can’t drive in the snow. Jobs: This is from my experience again, job searching is usually about the same as every other high populated state. The downside is that...you may not get the best pay overall. Especially if you’re considering going into teaching. Environmental cons: Alright so, we have trash and homeless problem everywhere now (both prior to covid and mostly likely after covid). Not to mention, a lot of people see our state as “clean” overall due to the nature but we do have a ton of factors and population here. We often have this haze over our city most days but, it’s not to bad normally. If you want to live in a “clean” city (which there isn’t really such thing in the United States) then, Colorado probably isn’t the best for you. We have people who don’t pick up their dog’s poop, other’s who litter, a ton of random garbage on the side of highways or parks, the aftermath of snow is disgusting 🤢, and so on and so forth (but what state doesn’t?) - These are just a few observation I’ve noticed in recent years; however, if you decide to live here then make yourself at home! Hope you enjoy Colorado!
I'm going to be 100% honest...I'm going to miss the dining chairs!!! And the worst part... their not available right now! Wait Overstock has them MWHAHA...Anywho :) I'm so happy for you! I really hope you enjoy Colorado and and spending more time with Henry!!! Stay safe , happy and healthy!!
Hey Tara! I currently live in Wisconsin (I have lived in the northern half of the state my entire life) and I’m planning on packing up my life and starting fresh somewhere new this fall! Des monies, twin cities area (probably St. Paul) and Colorado are all on my list!! The only other places are Madison Wi and Asheville actually. I was wondering if you could do a video on the pros and cons of each place you’ve lived. I would appreciate it so much!! ☺️
I made a move to CO about 2.5 years ago from NYC. And I did the same, packed up my car and drove 2,000 miles. I did have a bit of help. There were some great pieces of furniture and more boxes that couldn’t fit in my car so I left them with my parents in PA. And because it was just me, I took my time and made it a fun road trip. Hope you’re enjoying the state. 🙂
I've lived in Minneapolis for over 27 years and I am now considering a move out west... When you said this is an ending of an era, I cried! 🥺 I truly love Minneapolis but it's time for a change. Thank you so much for sharing
Hehe this reminds me of moving to CO. I had a taped square with the dimensions of my hubby's vehicle. Well I didn't account for slope so I couldn't fit some stuff..lucky I could leave it at my mom's and or did last minute donations! Welcome to CO!! 🥰

I want to move to Colorado in the next year from the east coast so I appreciated this vlog so much. Thank you and hope you're enjoying it up in the mountains ❤️❤️

Sooo exciting! And what red lip is this?? It’s so pretty!
Thank you! It’s Beso from Stila!
I was about to ask the same 😄 So pretty!
Genuinely so impressed by how organized you are with everything! I moved this year and it’s so stressful! Congrats!
Yes it is sooooo stressful 😭 and thank you!!

I’m moving to Minneapolis this summer and your video has really encouraged me that everything will fit in my car haha! Congrats on your move!
I’m literally just as obsessive about my space and moving girl I feel you. Plan that shit out!! Envision it!! 😤😤 lol. Maybe it’s a designer’s personality trait ..

Stay the FUCK in Texas...we don't need any more people moving out here!

I’m moving from Minnesota to New Mexico at the end of December. Thanks for the inspiration!

Those look like the apartment I use to live in. I use to live in Stevens Community which I don’t recommend.
Amazing! I'm from MN and actually going to CO this week to potentially move there!!
The footage from your lunchtime stroll is right next to my gf's apartment :) All the good food right on Nicollet. Glad your move went well!
