    Great video, if I could offer a few more tips :
    - get your international drivers permit from your home country prior to arriving , when pulled over that’s all they will look at and if you don’t have one you will be fined
    - if renting long term for a month as an example , ask if you can leave the deposit in your home countries currency ( that way you don’t have to bring 5000 baht home with you, or lose money on the exchange and have to deal with getting a ride to the exchange booth on top of it )
    - keep your line ( when driving along don’t drift to the right or the left, or make any unnecessary quick movements to either side ) because believe me .. scooters will come flying up from behind and pass you within inches on your left and right so quick ya don’t even see them coming
    - wear eye protection ( sunglasses ) I’ve been riding for over 50 years and got hit in the eye by a large bug when I was much younger while not wearing any and almost lost my eye , it amazes me how many people ride there without them, especially family’s with little kids

    I agree about renting small bike such as Honda Click 125. Obvious reason is easy to maneuver, automatic, easy on petrol. Just fill in 100 baht can last the whole day.

    I’m struggling to find answers for this, obviously in the UK you can ride scooters on a provisional license, is this the case in Thailand too? Are you able to get an international license with it or no?

    • @kamolhengkiatisak1527
      @kamolhengkiatisak1527 9 місяців тому +1

      Apply international licence in UK or if you cannot, you can apply to learn with riding school in Thailand and when done the school will guide you to obtain international licence in Thailand the next day. Quite easy.

      @@danielhorngacher358 in 2020 i paid 800 bhat, in 2023 i paid 1000 bhat but he pocketed that, I had a few drinks (not drunk) during the day so I couldn't say no.
      it was quite comical and the only time corruption is for all
      Cop "1000 Bhat"
      Me "okay give me the slip"
      Cop "ahh you want slip I have to get national police"
      me "okay do it"
      Cop "you been drinking"
      me "What was it 1000 bhat yeah cool there you go"
      haha
      The best bet is to ask for the police, they then send you to a cop shop you pay the fine and get a slip and you can ride around and if you get stopped again you just produce that slip and you can ride off.
      On the instance where the cop pocketed the fine and gave me no slip, the next day I got stopped from an actual police officer (they look like army) rather than the tourist police and I went a bit mad and said " no chance I paid 1000 bhat yesterday I'm not paying " he went "ah 1000 bhat yeah" I said "yes that's right" and he just walked off leaving me there, 20 seconds later I just drove off. its a little scam they have to earn some cash for their families and nothing bad will happen to you like bike seziure etc.

      you need to purchase an international driving permit from your countries driving agency. they are below $10. if you are coming to Chiang Mai, the Police set up check points and stop tourists and fine them. much cheaper and easier to sort before coming. if youre going to the islands, they rarely check but Chiang Mai as i say, they do check. The bike rental shop will not check for license or insurance but you should check your medical insurance covers you incase of accident :)

    His ‘FULL GUIDE’ doesn’t tell you that your need a full bike licence, if you have NOT passed your test on a big bike you can only drive up to 50CC in the UK on L plates therefore you should only rent up to 50CC in Thailand, but there are NO 50CC scooters in Thailand, you will be allowed to rent a scooter with your uk licence and or international licence, the problem comes if you have serious accident that you need hospital treatment or worse someone dies, you will not even have the 3rd party insurance they use as standard

    • @kamolhengkiatisak1527
      @kamolhengkiatisak1527 9 місяців тому +1

      That's wrong. The L licence in UK is limited to 125CC, not 50CC. There is no bike sale at 50CC in UK anymore. Even if I am Thai, I have watched so many UK youtubers about L licence limit at 125CC.

    IMPORTANT!! ‼️
    Don’t even think about renting a motorcycle or scooter if you don’t know how to ride and don’t have a bike license 😂.
    It’s dangerous for you and everyone on the road!
    You will get fined (or arrested depending on the situation and the cops 👮 mood 😂).
    I’m half Thai and I’ve lived in Thailand longer than this idiot.
    I can certainly tell you IF you get caught or if the police doesn’t like you for whatever reason… having no license can give them more leverage of heavy fines (£1,000+ or however much they can get from you) and potentially lock you up depending on the situation.

      Its irrelevant if everyone rides without a valid license , give responsible advice buddy. It isn't difficult. By doing so it just might keep people safe and not financially out of pocket should they have an accident. Ive seen irresponsible people like yourself ruined financially for not having valid insurance because they don't have a full motorbike licence, which makes all insurance invalid.. Should they have a serious accident. Hospital bills, damage to the bike and damages to any third party involved. Bills running into 10s of thousands of pounds..
