Primer is going in and painting a car at home seems harder than i ever thought.
Thank you all so much for following this 1969 Volvo amazon build this far. i'm aiming on 1st of January to have her done.

Painting a car is a skill and an art. You did great for a DIY I think.
it's just the primer so it's not a big deal yet.. when the blue is going on, then the skill comes in to play 😅 and i really hope i find some painting skill in a corner somewhere soon 😆
@@RollinHeritage We painted and FD RX7 a couple years ago in our garage and it came out quite nice. Just take your time and get your prep work right!
@@DeanofMachines me just thinking about owning a FD RX7 😍🤩
@@RollinHeritage We have two! The red one was a shell in a junkyard that I saved while living in Japan. I should make a video about building it some day. If you look search RX7 in my videos, it'll pop up.
I paint my roof black. Very pleased with it.
Nice Amazon 👍🏾
Keep up the good work although it’s a steep learning curve!
Good work 👍👍👍
I found out about the floor when I was rebuild ing 3 Amazon s in the 1980,s
What a performance! Keep up doing this great stuff!
I’m still doubting if i do two tone or single one colour at my amazon 😅
6:37 love that familiar clunking noise when gear is changed on the wagon🙂
Hahahah i know exactly what you are talking about. I have had it so many times in traffic standing still in a tunnel. The moment you take it out of gear and everyone around you looks directly at you thinking something broke. 🤣👍
Great work!
Thank you!
Huge respect to you doing this classic Volvo. Lovely car and you are very skilled. I’m looking forward to the end result. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! These comments keep me going! 😁
Full blue, a lot of work so make it stock and 100% stock!
I'm sorry but that is not going to happen.. i know cars are worth more 100% stock but life is to short to drive boring cars. I restore cars for a living, expensive ones.. but in my opinion a car can always be better than stock.
The plans for this amazon are as following, B23 with Tinustuning upgraded valve springs to prevent valve float and a his custom made TT-03 camshaft, simons exhaust and maybe a downdraft or the stock stromberg carb. That with a simons exhaust because i've had it on there when dailying the car and the sound is just gorgeous. There are also widened wheels going on there. Stock amazon wheels, widened with 195 wide tires with 2,5cm white wall.
Not crazy modified but just some upgrades to make it a lot more sporty, safer and a bit faster 😁👍
You don't need to be worried for running primer, that's easily fixed, just sand the runnings down and spray new primer over that spot....
Yes i know, i'm not worried about that at all but it still sucks when you are putting verry much time and effort in something and it goes a bit wrong. I'm always targeting perfection and nothing less. So every thing i do has to be better than the thing i did before or i'm not pleased with my own work. But that is also the reason how my work keeps getting better. 😁
@@RollinHeritage 👍
Wow! as so musch of work was done! And a lot of enjoyable work with these car wait for you in the future😉 it's awesome! White blue looks normally for Amazon I think. I was impressed by amount of things you do with this Amazon.
If a car that is 53 years old can do a roadtrip of 5262km in 3 weeks time and 14.000km when dailing it for half a year then it's a great car 😄👍 i mis driving it so so much...
My vote: keep it blue only.
I'm on your side 😜👍 the blue is just too cool 😁
A bit late to tell you now but rot in the front foot wells is caused by dirt and debris collecting on top of the chassis members down the bulkhead.
Yeah i know! Weird spot where a lot of water and dirt collects. Mine are completely rot free! 😁👍
All blue.
👍👍👍!!!
Another good video. I'm happy to learn from your mistakes as my Amazon is almost ready to prime. But why would you want to go on holiday in Spain when you could instead stay in NL and work full time on the Volvo? You can always to go Spain later after the fun work is done. Just kidding. Have fun. I remember my long ago vacations at the Costa Brava very fondly.
Working 6 to 7 days a week is fun but i also have a limit 😅😆
My girlfriends parents took us to spain so i'm not saying no to a free week to spain 🤣👍
Personally I would definitely paint the car full blue as it came from the factory, the two colour schemes were used on early Amazons, thus not at all appropriate on late models....
Amazon's are kind of hard to tell apart when it comes to early and older models in my opinion. When talking like vw bug it's quite obvious. I do think it looks cool, but i love the single blue look on this car. It will also save me a LOT of trouble painting it just blue..
@@RollinHeritage well, my 69 has exactly the same colour as your, I think #95? Not sure though...
You can tell an immediate difference between early and late Amazon by front grills for example and difference between B18 and B20 is the small trim in the middle of the front hood is missing on B20:s, 69-70....
Yeah but those are small things wich can be changed or removed 🤷♂️ the only really different thing is the trunk latch. That is a completely different thing on older models 😅 my color is medium blue/sky blue color 99
@@RollinHeritage well, maybe it was 99, but in the video looks exactly the same....yes of course, forgot the typical trunk latch....
Are your doors in good condition?
They were more or less totally screwed (rusty) on my 69, now I've a very good one for the passenger side but still haven't found another good one for the driver's side, and yet I live in Sweden, what I found up to now and during at least 2 years is the same junk as the one on the car now.
My doors are pretty solid. Have to take a better look at them when i'm back to working on the car but no holes in them.
There are many parts here in the netherlands. Why not ship one there? Shipping shouldn't be too bad and saving time by just buying a good one is cheaper than fixing a already rotted out door..
I'm not in a hurry and can drive as it is, as I fixed the driver's door with bondo and resprayed the whole door so it looks good from 10 metres distans, isch...🧐🤔🙃
@@conceptalfa hahahah, let me know if you need one next year as i will probabbly coming to sweden again for a roadtrip in 2024 😆👍
@@RollinHeritage great, I'll sure will!!!👍👍👍
