- In this video we compare the Mazda sedans. The 2020 Mazda6 Touring and the 2020 Mazda3 Select Package. Which Mazda sedan is right for you?
The 2020 Mazda3 was a complete redesign in 2019. It upgraded to the SkyActiv 2.5L engine for more performance and luxury. The grade strategy also changed from the previous years. Featured in this video is the Mazda3 with Select package. This is the second package on the trim walk and brings in leatherette interior, 18" alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, color-keyed side mirrors with turn signals, and Apple Car Play.
The 2020 Mazda6 was last redesigned in 2014. This was part of Mazda's first push to more premium models. There was a refresh in 2018 that is the current styling now. The Mazda6 Touring is featured in this video and is the second grade of the trim walk. It includes leatherette seating, power driver's seat, heated front seats, power moonroof, 19" wheels with dark alloy, rear seat armrest with USB ports and cupholders, and Apple Car Play.

Would prefer the Mazda 6. While getting long in the tooth overall, the interior suede on the dash is so elegant and not as spiffy in the 3. Also, cooled seats is only available in the 6 and not the 3.

The engines are the same, but they rate horsepower at 187 for M6 and 186 for M3, virtually the same.
Love the Mazda 6 and also the Mazda 3. We bought the 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback in the same color. The pinstriping mars the otherwise clean body.

Pin stripes and dealer branding on the back would be a deal-breaker for me. I would buy from somewhere else.

i have a 2021 Mazda6 Signature. Absolutely love it! Its my daily driver and my road trip car. Just perfect in every way. Btw.. Ive never had a problem with drinks getting in the way of controlling the dials and buttons. Even huge Peace Tea cans are not a problem. Well done Mazda!
I don't think he means it as a problem per say. Just that you had to reach around your cups to use the console commands.
Both are pretty both outside and inside. I just wish mazda make the car feels a little bit heavier, especially the 6.
I think the 2022 will be that car. Expecting a rear wheel drive platform and 6cylinder engine.

How is NVH levels compared? Ability to absorb road imperfections and interior noise assuming they have similar rims/tires?
NVH is similar. The M3 has 18”, the M6 has 19”. A little different feel, but not much difference in road noise.
Test drove a 3 Premium AWD against a 6 GTR. 3 has the more modern interior but the huge negatives for me were no power passenger seat, no ventilated seats, no heated rear seats and no turbo. And coming from a 2017 3, the new one felt smaller in the interior. Back seats are completely useless and I couldn't fit a car seat in there. Now I'm the very proud owner of a 6GTR. I'm 6'2" 250lbs and can sit behind myself in the back seat. I also have way more shoulder room in the 6. Overall dimensions may be larger, but inside the 3 is way smaller than the 6.
Thanks for sharing. I think Mazda realized they needed to offer a little more luxury on the 3, hence the turbo coming in 2021. You’ll love the GTR 6 though. It’s one of my favorites.

Great question. It is not really noticeable to me other than the Mazda6 feels a little bit longer or smoother.
I have a mazda 6 for 4 years now 80,000 km of mileage no problems currently I drove a new 3 2 weeks and in my opinion each car has pros and cons definitely more fun to drive mazda 3

BlazeReviews not yet. I think every 2021 was slowed down because of plant shutdowns. May be October or November this year. Or if a lot of updates, could be January or February.

Mazda 3 will be getting a turbo
The 2021 Mazda 6 is supposed to be rear wheel drive and an inline 6 cylinder. As a joint venture with Toyota it will be equal to a Lexus.

I would choose the Mazda6 because it has the 2.5 L in those years. The Mazda3 sedan has the 2.0 L
I was wondering although the Mazda 3 was the middle trim. why does it have an 18" rims ? are you able to upgrade your Rims if you get the middle trim of mazda3 that has 16" Rims? Thanks Jonathan
The base trim has 16” wheels. The other three models have 18” wheels. You can always add accessories, but 18” is included on Select, Preferred, and Premium.

I like the space in the Mazda 6 but the Mazda 3 looks soooooo much better. I don’t really need the space; but I’m coming from a kind of cramped car so some more breathing room would be nice .

The Mazda6 is about 2 inches wider than the Mazda3. The wheel tracks are less than an inch different. Thanks for watching.
Stuck between the both.. Want the 6 but no awd, old infotainment(the back up camera quality is ass) why?? The 2021 has updated infotainment and cameras. The 6 has no armrest smh. Those cupholders take up all the space and even the cubby is tiny.. If the 3 were to offer the red interior and ventilated seats, I'm sold!

I would buy the Mazda 6. Love Mazda products they are ahead their games who would rather have a Mazda instead of BMW. Mazda merged with Toyota think Mazdas are better than Toyota more fun to drive and better looking.
I am very intrigued at what collaborations will come from Toyota and Mazda joint ventures. I hope they’re tons better than the Toyota Yaris Sedan 😬. I do think Mazda is right on the verge of passing Toyota with stylish sedans.
@@JSS i think it has something to do with mazdas skyactive tech being shared with toyota and in return toyota provides mazda with their hybrid tech.
Dennis Triviño I know they’re sharing hybrid tech, as they partnered with Panasonic a couple years ago. Also Toyota’s connected services are being used in CX-30 and Mazda3. Not sure if SkyActiv is being shared. I would think some of the Turbo tech is.

I don't have a problem with the command knob if water bottles are there but maybe with huge cups. I believe once or twice I did but maybe I didn't have to skip to the next song.

While I would agree that the 3 has a better styling and the extra space may not be worth the price upgrade from 3 to the 6, early this year I bought a 6 Sport trim (GS here in Cda) 2019 MY on clearance. Was set on buying the 3 but coz of the $7K off MSRP deal I got on the 6, it actually came out cheaper than a base 3! Talk abt value it just made better sense to buy the 6 due to the space, the elegant and mature design despite originally designed in 2014, and the ind rears vs the 3’s torsion beams w/c I didn’t really like. If I didn’t get that $7K deal I would’ve been happy with the 3 but hey if the 6 was on bargain why not?!
As a student, who frequently takes parents/siblings/grandparents out for work or groceries, which do you prefer? I was looking into the civic but Mazda's really look nice!
Yes they look nice, and are worth considering. The Mazda6 does give you a little more room, but both are great choices.
Go with the Mazda3 it’s more modern and updated interior. There’s not much difference in backseat room unless you have 6ft family members.

I don't like the trend of grills getting bigger and cars looking so aggressive, that's something a mainstream brand like Toyota would do. I'd go for the Mazda 6, that grill is just the prefect size.

Pinstripes are ugly and out of place on these cars. I'm sure dealer installed in an effort to up-charge for the option.

It’s a tough one. Mazda6 has a little more space, and Mazda3 has a little more style.
The Mazda 6 is made in Japan. The Mazda 3 is made in Mexico. That says it all about the quality. I'd pick the 6 hands down.

The only thumb down with the 6 is that its not 4 motor wheel and about the look, the back of the car is so simple that remind us that car is still a mid-sedan
It's just sad the Mazda 6 looks too much like the Mazda 3. I couldn't tell which one was the 6 at the beginning of the video. My 2009 Mazda 6 stands out a lot more

For unknown reasons all tremendous concept cars that got everybody excited eventually became uninspiring design when it roll off the production line.

Some of the larger grills don’t look as good.
Not only do they put the tacky outdated pin stripes on every car, even though the CUSTOMER didnt order it, they also put the tacky dealer name on the back, then for overkilll, its on the plate frame as well

I just bought the Mazda 3, Mazda 6 is not worth the extra money for what it offers, it's like the vehicle is obsolete. And you have that plate mounted on the back of the trunk and when you close it, it rattles, the emblem on the back of the Mazda 6 looks cheap compared to the Mazda 3. The overall car is just not worth the extra money compared to the Mazda 3. IMO Ofcpurse, the dealership branding on the car and the added black stripes look like shit and ruin the car. No matter what car it is, a dealership should never put extra junk on the cars that they sell, that should be up to the buyer if he agrees with them or not.
The Mazda3 is updated. I expect the updated Mazda6 to share the same styling.

We installed those here. It’s a vinyl stripe that is easily removable. Do you like any vinyl or graphics on a vehicle?
