Di? Junk for longevity. You pander to the average guy and trying to sell gasoline washed cylinder walls. People get an old Honda and clean it up and keep it stock. Solid chassis, great parts and paint ain't crap if you don't buy metallic. Simple and clean for around town. REBUILD.
Hay Scotty What's your opinion on the Mazda 323 from the 1980's My stepmother had one from 1986 and it lasted for over 30 years. I used that car as a teenager to learn how to drive. back in the 1990's and it was a manual transmission. that car had a very long lifespan.
@BaiAnNa2014 Twitter So how come the Mazda 323 ended up being a car with such a long lifespan and did not brake down as much? Could the Mazda 323 be one of those cars that Ford could of been accidentally made very well and made to last? 🤣
Scotty Kilmer my mom has a 2012 Kia Optima and her car is constantly going into limp mode and it won’t start in the cold, we’ve been in and out of the shop constantly and same results, do you have any idea what could be wrong with it?
@Wyvern it's funny and sad how Scotty is finally realizing he's been talking crap on Mazda for being basically Fords, when Mazda split and took control in 2008 and has been making very reliable cars for over a decade, Ford on the other hand.... yeah it's still Found On Road Dead
@@N7_Nate I would buy a new Mazda over any other Japanese car today. Company I work for just picked up new Ford 250 HD's with Gasoline engines. A couple already have extended crank no start with no codes. Lovely pieces I tell you.
@@N7_Nate there are still people on channels that bash Mazda for being American owned...when they never were. Ford never owned more than one third of their shares loll
I own a Mazda 626 Sedan in Prestige Silver colour, 1990 model ... bought brand new in Melbourne, Australia as a gift from my father for my 18th birthday. He paid $32,000 Australian dollars for it back then! It's now 32 years old, has done 500,000 kilometres and l continue to drive it daily. Has never failed me. Unbelievable car. I cannot part with it. My first and so far, only car ...!! People cant believe it.
It's actually a collaborative effort based on Mazda's upcoming rwd inline 6 platform. If my current 2016 Mazda 6 handles this well with over 100k miles I can only imagine their upcoming RWD platform. Miata has often been hailed as best handling sports car in world under 50k for a reason.
@Brennan Martini I believe the modern Mazda ( without Ford ) started with all 2014 model years and up so they are pretty solid. I'm not too familiar with models before that but I heard conflicting stories some due to Ford collaboration.
@@kevtn8 Chances are 15 and up when the refresh came but no telling. The MX5 for sure still had the Ford MZR engine in it till 15 because that was the refresh from the NC to ND. Easy way to know is look for a FoMoCo stamp on the engine. And while I am proud Mazda stepped away from Ford, their collaboration with them wasn't bad.
Thats awesome, me and my friends went there on vacation last year and it was a fantastic experience, if you ever visit Tsukasa Sushi, please tell the chef and his wife that their friends from NYC miss them!
j freed Cleanliness and maintenance never killed anybody, much to the contrary: it is the best thing one can do to prevent problems, just like with our body.
But then dealers wouldn't deal on new ones and used ones wouldn't depreciate. I prefer Mazda remain an open secret shared by 2% of the population; you're doing well to pay MSRP at a Honda or Toyota dealer. Even when the car's crap, like a 1.5T CR-V, ZF 9HP anything, or a CVT Corolla, the dealer won't budge because they know some other sucker will buy it without knowing any better, and they'll happily tell you so. Mazdas are some of the last affordable quality out there, I got 15% off my Mazda6 and I liked it better than a Camry or Accord. Mazda themselves have said they're happy with 2% as long as it's the most loyal 2%. Compare that to VW, who approach 4% of the market on a good day, but whose crappy cars lose their "premium" sheen so quickly that buyers bounce back to another brand, and don't try VW again for 10-15 years. A brand lives or dies on its ability to move customers up through the lineup. Golfs are decent cars, but hatchbacks don't sell in America. A Passat or Jetta buyer isn't moving up the VW AG range into Audi and Porsche, the way a Toyota Corolla buyer would retire in a Lexus ES, a Honda Civic turns into an Acura TLX, or a teenager driving a used base Mazda3 will eventually carry their family in a loaded CX-5. High churn is bad for a car company, you need to create identity, loyalty, and emotional investment. That's where the highest profit margins are. A Chevy Aveo needs to become a Cadillac Escalade, not a Honda Fit and then Acura RDX. Nissan has over 5x Mazda's market share, GM over 10x, VW double, but I'd rather be Mazda right now.
Dylan Byrne, that isn't the case here in the US... The Cx5 sells in decent numbers, but the rest of the lineup has been way down compared to the competition. It's very understandable for the 6's numbers to be extremely low, since not only is it in a class of car most likely to be traded in for a crossover the instant they get extra $$$, but despite the gen debuting as a 2014, it started selling in mid 2013. It's basically a 7 year old car, making it its oldest car in its lineup. If you don't need a turbocharged engine or air conditioned seats, then why pay $30+ grand when you can get just about the same car lightly used for around $15 grand? But on the other hand, their Cx9... their midsize 3 row... sells only slightly more units than the 6 when the rest of the competition sells infinitely more of theirs... well into the hundreds of thousands annually when every newer mazda other than the Cx5 is a pretty rare sight in many places in America.
@@mrubuntuking5257 most true thing somebody said about brands! I traded my "Opel"(in my country those cara are Chevys) into a VW, but I really think I should got a better "Opel" instead. The same way I will never buy another VW, mine has 14 years, less than 150k miles and is failling appart. My next car will be Honda or a Toyota, even if they're more expensive. There's no Mazdas in my country sadly.
I also wish that ppl would buy more, then they would have more money for realizing other very interesting things and also bringing back perfomance etc.
blitzer25 blitz I actually found out that the Camry 2.5L engine has more horsepower and MPG than the Skyactiv-G 2.5L engine. Still love my Mazda3 2019 though
magnuscat yea but the mirage is a really stripped down basic economy car with very little power. Glad you’re enjoying it but I wanted something that looked great on the outside and inside and had a good amount of power and mpg. 2019 Mazda3 hit all those, but it’s also like $10,000 more than the mirage lol
@@gewdvibes Im a subcompact enthusiast, its a small club lol. I liked the Mazda2, great handling and speed but the mpg was mediocre at combined 29 mpg. Now its a rebadged Toyota Yaris.

I just purchased a Mazda 3 I touring and wow is it fast and good in gas and I have to mention that I'm 6'3and i have plenty of leg room to drive comfortably!!Love my Mazda!!!
I agree. I purchased a new 2017 MX-5 in July 2018 for nearly $7k off sticker and have had a blast in it. Very impressive car. We just traded in my wife's 2017 Honda Ridgeline for a 2019 CX-5 touring. Probably the nicest vehicle we've every owned. The wife is a truck gal and before her Ridgeline she had two Tacomas. The Honda dealership pissed her off and when she wanted a new truck, I asked her if she wanted to test drive a CX-5. It says a lot about Mazda if my wife opted for a CUV instead of a new Tacoma (which I was not impressed with when we test drove the 2017 model three years ago).
I liked Mazda's, had a couple of mid 90s 626s and drove a Mazda based Ford Probe for 12 years (brilliant car)...the only thing that let's newer Mazda's down here in the UK is underside rust as we use salt on the roads in the winter...even a car a couple of years old gets very scabby underneath around all the arms and frame parts underneath...most mx5/miata sills are rusted through at 10 years old.
They have barely any presence tho. I didn't care much about Mazda. That is, until I was ( fortunately ) stuck with one. Now I just wish they make performance cars.
Scotty, you changed up just in time. Mazda placed 3 cars on the Consumer Reports most reliable top 10 list, including the first place car! Ive been telling people for years now they are great vehicles.
I was like finally! Lol. More insight. Got me a used 2015 CX5 AWD GT for 14.9k so far she's been good. ---and survived a super typhoon we had a couple days ago 💀💀
Love my CX-5, have no complaints (except for the incredibly slow infotainment). Great handling, great ride, and has incredibly high quality of interior materials as opposed to some of its competitors. The automatic transmission was actually one of the primary reasons I opted for the CX-5, because I just can’t stand CVTs.
@@janisdrew-cross4417anyone know when they completely got rid of Ford parts and concepts? 2015? 2016? 2017 Essentially, what is the huge difference between a '14 and '17 CX-5?
Bought my first Miata 30 years ago. Just purchased my fourth. But ya know, it goes beyond that. Here’s this rather small car company, and when the whole world is saying the little 2-seat roadster is dead - that the convertible is dead - what do they do? They come out with the Miata. And when the whole world is saying the rotary engine is an experiment that failed, what do they do? They come out with the marvelous RX-8. This company is not like the other car companies. This company has, at its core, a bunch of engineers with a passion for automobiles. Not just bean counters with MBA’s, but engineers willing to stick their necks out to pursue something they believe in. Even when the rest of the world is saying “no, you can’t do that”. I just gotta reward a company like that with my business. And so I do. ❤️
Yes! Well said and so true. Best cars in their class right now. All cars/brands have their pros and cons but Mazda seems to be the best "sum of it's parts."
I bought a mazda 6 3 years ago.. i love what they stand for and for experimenting, they have alot of tech for the price.. and love the fact they didnt go CVT , and are prolonging their combustion engines and making it better (skyactiv x)
rx8 isn't marvelous and they scrapped the rotary. But agree with your viewpoints on miata. And since the company isn't owned by ford anymore its been very successful.
@Shorty i bought a 2014 mazda 6 with 89k miles for 11,500$ . now it has 160k and no issues other than a bad spark plug.. it will need shocks soon but hey i drive it everyday.. and i love it..
Thanks for coming clean Scotty! It always irked me how you previously bagged on Mazda, because the newer Skyactive's since 2013 are honestly so great. I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Touring that I bought new. So far after almost 4 years I've had ZERO problems with it whatsoever. The only thing I've done is regular oil changes and tire rotations every 5k miles. It's by far the best vehicle I've ever owned and the gas mileage is excellent. Highly recommended!
I’ve had a 2013 Mazda 3 I touring and traded it in at 135k miles for a 2015 i grand touring. Never had any issues with the 2013 and doubt any with the current one. The only thing I’ve heard is that some people were having issues with the automatic transmission but it was very early in the cars life, like less than 15k miles and I believe it was due to the valve body at the time which was updated. That being said, it was a very small percentage of people that had that issue so not really even a drip in a bucket for them. I’ll always recommend a skyactiv Mazda
Me again. My CX-5 is now just over 6 years old now and still no problems whatsoever. Only parts I had to change was I bought new wiper inserts and a new Interstate battery last winter. The original Panasonic battery lasted me 5 years. The original Yokohama Geolandar tires are still going strong.
@@hendrikjan9116 G'day yes like Scotty says, if you're going to get a Japanese car get one that's built in Japan. Suzuki & Subaru are also popular, along with Nissan , which I'm not a fan of.

Mazda while still are making good cars, are starting to get dry and less interesting. Let look at the new Mazda 3. It look nice sure, but it heavier than the old one, still uses the exact same engine as the old one and they start from around $30 grand AUD (while the previous model started around $22 grand AUD). I would much rather get a Toyota Corolla, Kia Cerato or Hyundai i30 for that money if I was looking for a small car.
I like that u found some more info on Mazda and took back some of the things you've said previously about Mazda. Your an honest guy Scotty!!! Keep doing great!!
It's almost like we've been telling you this for years. Also, the skyactiv 6-at has been out for years (2014). I've not seen any catastrophic damage on one. Groups in a few places have reported 200k or better with very little issues.
@@TDK2K correct. I believe the unit for the 2.5L is different, which came out in 2013 for the cx5 then the mazda6. I actually typeo'd. Should have been 2013 not 2014
Thanks Scotty. Buying my father's 3 after he switched to a 6. Happy to say it's a manual, lowish miles, and oil changes like clockwork. Was going to go Honda or Toyota but couldn't beat the family discount. Was going to ask your opinion then I found this. Good timing.
I like the fact that it takes 8 years for Scotty to make up his mind about a car. So we will know for certain if that 3 year old Mazda is a good one in another 5 years. I can't wait for that video!
I'm so glad you made this video. I've owned a 2010 mazda 6 since 2013. I've change all the fluids as suggested in owners manual and after 6 yrs and 150,000 miles I have zero complaints and zero repairs. After watching a few of your videos about mazda i went and researched Mazda and things you were saying in the past videos werent lining up with what I found to be true. In 2 yrs when I hit 200k miles im buying a 2018 Mazda 6 Grand Touring. So thanks again for doing your homework.
I had a fully loaded 2010 Mazda6 and i loved it. A few probs though....the Bose amp fried and the keyless entry stopped working. Unfortunately a VERY large dump truck ended my relationship with that car. I replaced it with a sweet Cosmic Gray 2014 Camry that i expect to run flawlessly for the foreseeable future.
Never been a Mazda fan and somehow ended up buying a 2016 CX5 with around 100k Kilometers on it and I am completely blown away by the comfort and ride quality. Just fell in love from the first test drive and not sorry at all!
babati gosho Actually, Ford’s shareholder stake in Mazda never exceeded 33.3%, but that was enough for a controlling stake in the company. By 1996 Ford owned more shares if Mazda than anyone else and this controlled the company.
@@afcgeo882Dude i dont know where you got that information that Ford controlled Mazda with having only 33% but i would't take it as truth...maybe Mazdas for American market are made in there from those years, but my one and every Mazda i've seen here in Europe are made in Japan,no matter the year and there is nothing Fordish about it...
Well, that’s like buying Sushi Rolls rolled by Japanese people. You could find some but the majority are rolled by Mexicans. Just a fact and I’m Mexican.
C P not quite true 😛. In Texas there’s a grocery store called heb and the sushi is rolled by Japanese people. At least the ones I go to in central Texas. But on the other hand in Chinese restaurants here it’s the Mexicans that cook the food. They do a pretty good job.
THANK GOD!! I've been waiting for you to come around for a looooong time. My mom has a 2013 Cx5 she got in 2012. It's not fast but it handles great. After 7 years and 70k miles, hasn't had one issue, plus she gets 40mpg with light cruising.
Welcome to the party, Scotty, I had a friend tell me about his CX-5, when I was looking for a new SUV earlierthis year. I purchased a 2019 CX-9 GRAND TOURING and I absolutely LOVE IT, turbo and all.
@@jasjuaquin140 As a former Mazda tech, I can honestly tell you that the CX-9 is probably THE BEST Mazda ever! Never seen any issues with them. I have seen some issues with the Cx-5's, but mostly minor things (Seat warmers/strut covers), A LOT of issues with the CX-3's, but the CX-9 had 0 issues. Also, I prefer the 3.7 V6 over the 2.5T. While the 2.5 is much easier to work on, the power and torque are not available on-demand, since the turbo needs to spool. The 3.7 get really good mileage for its size, and it accelerates like a dream. Both of them are really quite and do a great job of isolating tires/wind/suspension noises. I think the CX-9 even beats the BMW X5 in that aspect. The (HORRID) CX-7 were canceled and had a LOT of turbochargers issues (among MANY other issues). All the "Mazda-Speed" line had Turbochargers issues as well...so I'm a little worried about Mazda's and Turbos, but only time will tell since these are brand-new designs of turbos and engines.
@@Aboleo80 .....Not at all, I've been quite surprised. It has great acceleration and I've never had a problem getting from one point to another. I went on my trip to Beaumont, close to Houston, TX., a month ago and had a great trip and passing with passengers and luggage was no problem at all. Plus, I got fanatics fuel mileage as well at 26 mpg, and I'm not a slow driver...haha
I've been researching small SUVs for reliability. From what I could find, Mazda hasn't used a Jatco transmission since 2003 and only used it in a few models. They've been using their in-house designed 6 speed automatic since 2012. 8 years seems like a pretty good test.
I own two Mazda CX-5s and my older one a 2017 has a transmission that started leaking at around 80K. The dealer said Mazda dealers do no repair transmission leaks therefore it had to be replaced with a remanufactured that came from the dealer. Don't be fooled Mazda transmissions are still crap.
@@alexveloz3586 one bad experience does not mean they suck. My brother's corolla has been burning oil like mad for a while and we've always taken care of it. I did a bunch of research before buying my CX5 recently I could barely even find one transmission complaint. You were unlucky.
Adjodha B I’ve always been kinda nervous about my CX-5 because he had been slamming the Automatic transmission time after time, after watching this I ran to my girl and I yelled: “It aint gonna break” and she looked at me like why did I marry you? Haha
Finally Scotty is changing his view on Mazda's. I own a 2011 Mazda3 Sport and never had any issues with it. A month ago I bought a used 2016 Mazda CX5 with the 2.5L engine (same one featured in this video). So far so good with the CX5 and it handles awesome! Thanks for the video Scotty!
I bought a 2011 Mazda 3 Sport (automatic) a few months ago. I knew that or the Mazdaspeed3 was what I was after, and I saw so many of both for sale with over 200k miles on them and still in great shape :D I love mine so far!
Knight Ride963 we don’t really know if the turbos are really that bad in this day of age quite yet. I have 2017 Honda Civic si 1.5l turbo. Honda wouldn’t put a turbo on their car if it wasn’t reliable. 2 years still going strong. The oil dilution issue is a bit overblown. I’ll find out if it’s still true by year 5. Maybe Mazda did their research since these aren’t the same turbos from the 90s
Long Tran . I hope my 2017 Subaru XV (CVT) doesn't fall apart like Scotty says, it doesn't slip at all and is much smoother and faster off the line than my mum's 2015 6 speed automatic cx-3 Mazda which is slow to shift and has already had it's air-conditioning condenser replaced and you feel every single bump in the road (unlike my xv).....idk what to think sometimes 🙉

@@jetstream454 they separated back in 2008. Mazda first full non Ford related models were 2014 Mazda 3 and 6. 2016 cx9. Miata cx3 and cx5 was always fully Mazda.
I appreciate a guy who can be open minded about change. Good for you, Scotty. Toyota partnered up with Subaru and now, Mazda. That's good news for consumers. Mazda still offers a manual transmission also when a lot of companies offer automatics only.
Yes, yes, and YES! I’ve been saying this for some time now. Mazda of present is NOT the same as Mazda of the Ford ownership era. Great cars, great engineering, great value, and great driving experience. I own a 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring and a 2017 CX-5 Touring and both are rock solid vehicles. At the very least any auto enthusiast can appreciate an automaker that is still committed to creating fun to drive vehicles, refining the internal combustion engine, and staying away from that CVT transmission crap.
Nick Mitchell We just bought a 2019 CX-9 Signature. Talk about value! For less than the base price of an X5 or GL450 (both of which I’ve owned), you get ALL the features, and the 2nd quietest vehicle I’ve driven (quietest was my BMW 750Li, but c’mon). Anyway, I’m thoroughly impressed with my first Mazda, and I bet it’s not our last.
Still rocking my 2015 (or is it 14?) MAZDA 3 manual transmission. It's been totalled (hail) but I couldn't give it ul. So fun to drive. Excellent infotainment system. I could use a bit more room but this is about the longest I've ever kept a car (4 yrs).
My 2014 Mazda 3 with 133k is still rock solid and super fun to drive not to mention fit and finish is top notch for the price. Best bang for your buck.
Even In the Ford era they weren't horrible cars! Not to mention some of fords decent vehicles of that time were engineered by Mazda or rebranded. I only bought the 2011 Escape because it was engineered by them. Although the tranny is a Ford/Gm joint venture so I'm weary about how long that's going to last lol
Too all of you who own Mazda's I have a question. How would you compare the road noise of your Mazda to a Toyota or Honda? I test drove a Mazda 6 and 3 about eight or so years ago and was surprised at how loud the ride was. Has this changed recently?
@@austink6447 sorry but cant agree there at all. You realise Mazda from the early 80s to now has been Ford? On another note in the US, whether its ford or Mazda you guys didn't get the good stuff anyway. The southern hemisphere product was far better.

My family has always had Mazdas since the early 90s when my dad bought a 92 miata, and we have always loved them. Fun cars with few problems. My wife and I have a 2016 Mazda CX-5 with almost 100k on it and we love it, no issues and a fun SUV. Happy to see some love from Scotty! Now pop out of a Miata trunk if you can fit!
You're (finally) catching on Scotty. My wife's '16 CX-3 is the only modern automatic I enjoy driving. The CX-3 is light, agile, and as you say - "zippy."
Just wanted to mention you can still get the 2.5L (non-turbo) engine in the new CX-5. Just not the top trim. Personally I don't think top trim with every bell and whistle is worth it in most cars anyway.
I have a 2014 Mazda 6 Grand Touring that I purchased new in August 2013. 2013 was the first year the Mazda 6 had the Skyactiv engine. I was concerned about that but she now has 133,500+ miles on her. The serpentine belt finally broke 2 nights ago. This is the only problem I have had with her but we made it home without issue and I drove it to get it replaced the next morning for $150. I love this car, try to take good care of her and don't see retiring her until I hit 300,000 miles. I may need to up my maintenance now that she's gotten to this point but otherwise, she is a wonder car for me!
I'm on my 3rd Mazda now and very happy with all of them! Love to drive now! My 1st Mazda 3 was totaled a year after I got it because a young inexperienced guy ran a red light. That MAZDA saved my life! Then leased my 2nd Mazda CX5. When that lease expired I leased my 3rd Mazda CX5. I'll never consider driving anything but a Mazda!
That’s why I always come back to Scotty... he changes his mind.. Mazda was to me a great company with the newest models and never understood why the criticism since their transmissions are a great deal better now

I did a lot of researching on the 2019 Mazda 3 before pulling the trigger on it. Everything I found was exactly what Scotty covered in this video -Still made in Japan ✔️ -Non turbo charged engine ✔️ -reliable Mazda built non CVT auto trans ✔️ -2.5 lt engine that Mazda has continued to make better and better with their skyactive tech ✔️ Overall very happy with the purchase and seeing Scotty have a change of heart towards Mazda’s direction makes me even more confident in my buy.
Garrett Winn my wife and I purchased a 2019 Mazda 3 hatch last month in snowflake white pearl with the “greige” interior and we love it. Glad you are enjoying yours 😊😊.
Upon inspecting the door jambs of all the models in a local Mazda showroom, I found that the only one on the floor not made in Japan was a Mazda3. But that wasn't a 2019. One nice thing about Mazda's being a small company is that they haven't been able to open plants here in the US until recently, so most of their cars are still made in Japan, like the two Mazdas I own. The 2019 Mazda3 models aren't selling as well as previous models, perhaps because 1) they've increased their price along with the quality of the interiors to compete with the likes of the Audi A3. I helped a Honda-leaning friend buy a car last year and once she sat in in the CX-5 the quality really got her attention and she bought the Mazda instead. And 2) the Mazda3 hatch has some polarizing styling, which I didn't particularly like in initial photographs but loved in person. The Mazda3 hatch is still available with a manual on the top trim. To repeat what was said before: If you're getting a Japanese car, get one that is made in Japan. If the one you're looking at isn't made in Japan, buy a different trim level or format (hatch vs. sedan vs. etc.) in order to get one made in Japan. Don't get a turbo if you can get a larger naturally-aspirated engine (e.g. get the Mazda 2.5L non-turbo vs. the Honda 1.5L turbo). Don't get a CVT for now, but hey, maybe they'll be great in a few years (get a modern automatic - or even better, a manual if you really want to be engaged in driving your car.)
I bought the 2019 CX-5 a few months ago.... Absolutely love it. I've tried RAV4, rogue, Forester,....but nothing gave me the feel that CX-5 did. There are few things that can be improved but overall it's a great car.
I have a 2010 Mazda CX 9 with 155K miles, only problem I’ve had was replacing the alternator (wasn’t outrageously expensive). I have family members who drive them as well and they’ve never run into any big issues either. As far as I’m concerned Mazda is one of the best manufacturers you can buy from!
I have the same year with about the same amount of miles. Watch out for the brake booster failing or the water pump failing. Mazda placed the water pump INSIDE the engine. So it has two modes of failure. Mode 1 is you see some coolant leaking. Run don't walk to get that fixed. Mode 2 is the water pump starts leaking into your engine oil.
@@ByDesign333 I have no idea on statistical distribution of mode 1 vs mode 2. I got lucky and had the non catastrophic failure, but if you do some light searching on UA-cam you'll find videos of the mode 2 failures.
Augustin McLaughlin my coworker is selling her Mazda CX-9 for 6,000 it has 140k miles on it. Should I purchase ? I need a bigger car without the huge payment.
I bought a 2017 Mazda CX-5 first Mazda (import) I've owned so far and I love it. I put 300 miles thats how new it is to me. So I'm glad 17 is the year they changed everything.
We bought a 2019 Mazda 6 non turbo this year. Did a lot of research and Scotty was the only review that concerned me with his criticism of Mazda. This makes me feel better that I made the correct choice.
I test drives mazda 6 non turbo 2.5 190+ ps. AT6. Then I tried VW Passat 2.0 220 ps with dsg. Man, passat is far superior in every way. There is no comparison in dynamics, electronics, features, suspension etc. Mazda is pure crap.
@@spk8989pl up to the point when something fails... In all honesty, the Passat in that version doesn't really compete with the Mazda6, and I think it is quite a lot more expensive.
Andres Salazar Autos it was a little more expensive but it compensated its as I remember 5% higher price with such huge gap in everything that I was happy to pay for it. As to reliabikity, I’ve made 150kkm with no single issue. I changed it to new touareg about year ago. Its perfect car in every way but mazda has no competitor for it.
My 2.0L 2015 hatch is perfectly fine. I don’t need to race the thing. It brings me to work all over ct for my job (carpenter) I put 140000 when I bought it brand new since 2017. They had it on the lot and wanted it gone Great car. It runs fine. Never had issues on it ever. Love Mazda

2010 Mazda 6. 180k never a problem. 2.5L with lots of power. Great 6 speed transmission. 2010 was pre skyactiv but Mazda has been making great cars for along time.
@@ItalianComanche I'm at 195k and still running strong. AC, transmission and engine are great. Interior has held up well. The upstream catalytic converter does cause a check engine light to come on but if I run a tank of premium gas it turns it off and I can pass emissions. 🙂
I have a 2009 Mazda 6 2.2 diesel sport (Ireland). Have 156,000 on the clock. Never misses a service as I do it myself. Running like a dream still. Only downfall is the paintwork. The lacquer is starting to peel off the bonnet. Other than that, great car
Was never really a Mazda guy, but after the redesign of their cars in 2016/17, I started to take notice. The cars are simply stunning. I had a nice cadillac CTS, but really missed having a convertible, so I test drove a new 2017 MX-5 in July 2018. The dealership knocked nearly $7k off sticker and I was sold. What a fantastic little car. Handles like a demon. Last week my wife traded in her 2017 Honda Ridgeline for a 2019 Mazda CX-5 Touring. A gorgeous car to look at and even better to drive. She's happy--which says a lot because she's a truck gal. She had two Tacomas before the Ridgeline and for her to be that impressed with a small CUV says A LOT. Driving my MX-5, I've had more compliments on it than any car I've driven, including Porsche.

Mazda’s are so underrated, I wished people bought them more bc they’re such great quality cars
Mazda is the 2nd most popular car manufacturer here in Australia
Mazda has really nice cars. Their failings are more from poor leadership on the business side.

The only thing I've done is regular oil changes and tire rotations every 5k miles. It's by far the best vehicle I've ever owned and the gas mileage is excellent. Highly recommended!
Yea my 2014 has almost 100k miles...got used but it's been more reliable than my Rav4. Not one single issue to date.
The original Yokohama Geolandar tires are still going strong.

babati gosho Actually, Ford’s shareholder stake in Mazda never exceeded 33.3%, but that was enough for a controlling stake in the company. By 1996 Ford owned more shares if Mazda than anyone else and this controlled the company.
Right. Ford brought a lot of problems. For example rust. Today, Mazda is one of the best car builder. Ford is bad as always.

Welcome to the party, Scotty, I had a friend tell me about his CX-5, when I was looking for a new SUV earlierthis year. I purchased a 2019 CX-9 GRAND TOURING and I absolutely LOVE IT, turbo and all.
Thanks I'm here because I'm interested in a 2019 Mazda cx9. Your comment helps.
@@jasjuaquin140
As a former Mazda tech, I can honestly tell you that the CX-9 is probably THE BEST Mazda ever!
Aren't they underpowered for such a large vehicle? Turbo and all?
@@Aboleo80 .....Not at all, I've been quite surprised. It has great acceleration and I've never had a problem getting from one point to another. I went on my trip to Beaumont, close to Houston, TX., a month ago and had a great trip and passing with passengers and luggage was no problem at all. Plus, I got fanatics fuel mileage as well at 26 mpg, and I'm not a slow driver...haha
I tried to tell you all this back when you were dogging Mazda, Scotty....
Glad to see you finally caught up. Welcome to the Mazda club.
I've been researching small SUVs for reliability. From what I could find, Mazda hasn't used a Jatco transmission since 2003 and only used it in a few models. They've been using their in-house designed 6 speed automatic since 2012. 8 years seems like a pretty good test.
good to see your post. did buy a Mazda CX5 ? I'm about to get one.
