- Just a brief overview of the Gator SFX Tri-Fold installation and my 6-month review of the product
Installed on a 2008 Ford F-250
Any questions, please feel free to ask below, thanks for watching!
I just installed one of these on my Ram 1500 short bed. I’m a 70 year old woman and found installation to be pretty easy until the tension springs near the tailgate. Pretty tight! So I had my husband help me (he’s 75 and still recovering from a stroke he had a few months ago so he’s not as strong as he used to be but we got it done). It looks great!
Glad my review could help, hope your husband is doing well!
A very nice bed cover for the price. You won't go wrong...with this product ...especially for the price
Just installed mine this morning. Soooo easy. Love it. There are added tethers now, and weather stripping for the tailgate. I didn't use the weather stripping.
Appreciate the review. Ordered mine after viewing. 👍
Awesome review, thank you for showing the last feature. Purchasing one for my '16 silverado (just purchased it) this will be the first add on. Thanks & stay well.
I had a Extang Trifecta on my 2005 Silverado. It began to shrink and come loose at the frame. Extang sent a replacement under warranty. I just ordered the Gator ETX for my 2017 Silverado because it’s about $150 cheaper, but looks identical to the Extang. Good video, I hope mine holds up as well.
Just ordered mine, they owe you
Great review. I put the same thing on a 2021 Ranger and could not be happier.
Great review. Thinking of getting this one as it has a 10 yr warranty. That sold me for the price
For a soft folding cover, I've been pretty happy with it!
I have the same cover that came with my 2020 F-150 STX. It doesn't have a Gator logo but it had the same clamps and handles which leads me to believe it's a Gator. Do yourself a favor and anyone following you, get fender flares! The tires sticking out beyond the fenders are illegal in most states. I was almost killed when towing my boat on the highway when a Jeep Wrangler pulled out in front of me and his too wide tires threw a rock thru my windshield striking my cheek then thru the rear window! A car following saw it happen chased the Jeep & called the police. He was apprehended and charged with illegal equipment and his insurance had to pay the damages. I was lucky, I started to jackknife but regained control and pulled over. Nice video!

I had a bak revolver for 899 dollars it didn't last 5 years. I bought a gator SFX from realtruck total 264.41.Super easy to put on looks great
Had a revolver didnt last 2 years
@@josemagana7633 thanks for sharing. I like my gator.did you replace yours with another brand?
I just received a new Gator SFX soft cover. It came with hardware that you did not mention. I looked at 3 youtube videos and none of them mentioned this hardware.
Looks good and it's way cheaper than the others I've looked at
Thanks for the video and review. Just ordered one
Great video now I’m going out to try to install it 👍
Great review!
Thanks my friend... 👍🏽 🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
Thankyou brother...this was very helpful.
Is it still holding up over time? Thanks for review
Great review. Thank you.
Thanks for the review prob will get this one
What are your long term thoughts on this product? Thinking of buying on for my 2020 f250. Thinking of using it for travel only. To keep luggage and other items dry here in Florida. I use my truck bed for work every day and don't think I would leave it on. What are your thoughts?
Thx for the review. Does it rattle when you hit bumps or on rough roads?
It's really very quiet in my opinion. That was my big concern buying a soft cover, but I'm super happy with how it's performed so far.
I have two swivel tool boxes on both ends on the rear of my 19 f150…. How long are those spring loaded locks at the rear? I would like to know if I’ll hv enough clearance
What do you think of the wind blowing on the hwy, seems like it's gonna take flight
Thank you for the review, are those spring loaded handles/clamps in the back plastic? If so, do they seem fragile? Those clamps are the only thing holding me back.
Very sturdy not fragile at all i just put one on my f150
Is your bed 8ft? If so how much room do you have when it’s opened up. Would bikes fit back there without having to completely remove?
I had one for my Nissan Frontier, it was perfect. I now have one for my 2019 F150, still love it, however, the back spring fasteners are pretty long and don’t provide much tension, so when I’m driving over 40 and especially if it’s windy the back flops a lot. Wondering if you noticed that. I contacted Gator about it, waiting for a call back, see if there is a shorter fastener or a fix/rig to solve that issue. Other than that l love these things. So easy to fold, secure and remove/install as needed.
Small bungee cords from the back corners to bed tie downs work for my Tacoma
Great review. How water tight is it?
I loved the look but the front clamps are just holding onto the inside edge of the rail system. Should just take my rail system off or sand down the tap plates because they didn't fit. I'm just thinking to take the rails off. So the front clamps can clamp down better to the inside edge of the bed
Just got mine and it has two extra straps with clamps , i dont need them right?
After owning for a while, do you notice any loosening of the tension on the spring clamps near the tailgate over time?
EXCELLENT VIDEO! How did it handle the weight of the snow and rain you mentioned in the video?
Handled it great. A lot of wet/heavy snow would accumulate, but the cover seemed to hold its integrity just fine. Any time it rains or while washing it, I have no problem. Happy with the investment.
How do you take it off, my clips in the back will not come loss
Good Job
would the spring clips get loose while off-roading?
thanks enjoyed your video
So all the reviews and install guides i watched including yours don't talk about the seal that comes with the package. Any info on that?
It's just a seal you can install on the rear of the bed between the tailgate. It's supposed to make your bed more element resistant (water, dirt, etc). I haven't had any issues with my bed so I chose not to install it.
@@matthewstark9491 Thanks bro. Just installed it so I'll give it a whirl.
@@matthewstark9491 my truck has a rail system so i had to clamp the front to the cleets
How’s it holding up after the first winter?
Can you drive down the highway with it folded once?
Yes its straps that can attatch to fron to keep in place
I just ordered one..I hear they leak..I could see daylight under yours, have you had problems
I haven't had any issues with leaking. The daylight you see is an issue with the plastic bed rails, not the tonneau cover.
@@matthewstark9491 my 2005 ford ranger had the same problem with different manufacturer of tonneau and bed liner. I just but a piece of weather strip there. problem solved.
Get a rubber mat for your bed, this prevents items sliding around in the bed.
Can you tighten the front clamps too tight? Like that is bad for anything?
You can overtighten the front ones so just be cautious, I think it just puts too much stress on the plastic clamps and they could crack. I believe it says in the manual, though.
If anything, your gas milage will improve because of the aerodynamics.
Rail covers needed?
I didn't add anything extra. Just pulled it out of the box and installed it. Haven't had any issues thus far.
Are those rear clamps adjustable? I'm installing now but I'm really pulling on them and they don't seem to come down enough to go under the bed rail
