Yo 24kg curls is crazy
Can you please do a review of Ian Barseagle and his Soviet training
I'm so tired of "fitness influencers" who put on such a fake persona in order to draw attention to themselves. Sean is the man
I dont follow any fitness influencer. Only Sean. I only really see others through his videos and its ridiculous
I'm new and Sean lowkey turned me on
@@Sinkatzei would recommend jesse james west and will tennyson to you tho they are rlly good influencers and are delivering no stupid shi
@@V9-ix3ss terrible recommendation they’re both just as corny as any other influencer and yes they do delivery stupid stuff
@@V9-ix3ss Thank you. I met Jesse James at the arm wrestling tournament he made a video on. Yeah hes good. I will check out Will Tennyson
I'd only listen to this guy on glute exercises
I saw this vid and came straight to the comments 😂😂😂
@@alfredotano43same😂
🤣🤣🤣😭😭
I was just looking for a comment like this. nothing else matters
Guy's get BBL'S to bro.
Such a beautifully subtle roast
Never do bicep curls with your arms next to your body. Instead, hold your arms up in the air at a 90 degree angle to the sun, face east and squat down before performing the curl by pinching the shoulder blades together and loudly squawking like an eagle
Now we're talkin! Try doing them hanging upside down like a bat with cables attached to the ceiling. Serious fuckin stretch.
Unless you're on the southern hemisphere, then it's killing your gains.
And instead of dumbbells, make sure to use 2 barbells, 1 in each hand to really emphasize the stability
😂😂😂
But remember, only do this at full moon.
Wasn't expecting that bakery🍑🍑🍑
Bro I smashed that big ass shit. He threw that shit back with his big muscly ass omg bruh that shit clapped
Didn't noticed. I was looking at my reflection off his scone.
💀💀💀
Should follow him for his glutes workout for sure
It’s when Sean looks at the camera after the absurd claim for me 😂🤣🤣👍
haha yeah, i wait for that specific moment every video
I’m more impressed by that man’s bakery
Bro got CAKE 🍑
Bro got FAKE
That guy's duck butt was compensating for the extended bicep curl, not his shoulders
😂
🤣
That dude looked like he skipped arm day for leg day
More like ass 👀👀👀👀
I actually like preacher curls more than normal curls because of the increased tension at the bottom but I would never tell someone that a standard curl is somehow bad. There is not much diffrence between the 2
Potentionally there is. Recent papers have shown numbers going up as high as twice the amount of hypertrophy on lengthened emphasised exercises.
Purely for bodybuilding, you have to program around lengthened bias. If you care about atheliticism and overall strength, then you obviously do full rom exercises.
@@axlvanaudenhove6564 I personally have changed my whole Programm to be more lenghend biased like 3 to 4 months back and i have been pleasently suprised by the results. My lats and mid back especially have improved. I already did a lot of lenghend exercises since I like them more so I only had to change a few movements
What's a standard/normal curl?
Ever since I saw that video of guy that got his biceps torn on a preacher curl I've been scared of that apparatus.
@@Raphael-gd4ht just dont overload the exercise and you'll be fine.
The deadpanning to the camera with the "😐" kills me everytime.
Preacher Curl: *Imma end this whole man’s career*
Sean faces are the best.
Just curl the damn weight!
This dude doesn't even have biceps but he's telling people about curling. You went easy on him Sean.
Having biceps isn't a sign you have the best advice for training biceps. But this guy is missing both, no biceps and no good advice.
He has plenty of biceps, just not as bulging and lean as Sean.
What do you mean he has no Biceps?
Social media standards man...
I mean I wasn't gonna go there but....😅😬
Yeah sure bro
...and then, there's no tension at the top of the rep!
Just use cables 💀
way to put that nerd in his place 🤣
I don't think "nerd" is the right word. I'd say Sean is one of the biggest fitness nerds there is: he understands and uses the scientific method in every fitness-related thing he does and we love him for it. The guy in the clip is just a clout-chasing clown.
Um akshually
For me personally, i could never feel standing curls in my right arm for the longest time until i just one day started pitching my elbows slightly forward, as if i had an imaginary Arm Blaster on, and could finally feel them in my right arm. Been doing it ever since and have made really good progress.
Not trying to discredit this video at all. Love Sean. This was just my experience with standing curls and in case anyone else experiences the same thing, try it and see how it feels for you.
I'm not one to judge a book by its cover, but c'on for someone with such an attitude, bro got noodles for arms. The end shot of Sean's arms while curling was the final roast 😂
Thank you for keeping it REAL!
Next advice:
Never do bicep curls with your biceps
Influencers that try to discredit decades of tried and true knowledge are such a red flag. Building muscle isn't a brand new sport, it's been studied thoroughly for a century by literal scientists, and the techniques that we've developed are there for a reason. I guarantee a gym coach didn't figure out some brand new, completely unprecedented, much more effective technique. This dude trying to say "whoever is teaching you to follow the technique that's been effectively studied and followed for decades doesn't know jack shit about muscle building" tells me that he's just there to pump his own ego up like he probably pumps himself full of steroids.
Plot twist: lengthened bias is way better for building muscle.
You realise science doesn't stop and only improves right? 😅
Bro's look be killing me😂
Just compare the biceps from that "influencer" with Seans biceps 😂
The Viking from Wish really thought he ate by rediscovering Preacher Curls 😂
I'm glad Sean exists. I've lift my entire life, and overly complicated exercises will discourage newbies at worst, and waste a lot of their time at best.
Consistency, diet, rest.
That's 100% effective.
I wanna be big and strong like Sean! 😤
The shoulder seperation is crazy
Imagine thinking that bicep training is some advanced level thing you need to gatekeep
When Sean just deadass looks up from the phone, I know mofos gonno get roasted real quick.
I mean he's basically doing preacher curls in the air which is like fine. When I'm travelling or mot able to make it to the gym I sometimes do that with my home 10lbs, but I can't imagine lifting heavy in that position being super productive.
I mean its basic physics that one part of a free weight bicep curl will be more difficult thay others.
Assume your elbow is a fixed point and acts as a fulcrum with your forearm as the level arm.
Torque = radius × force = radius * force * sin θ where θ is the angle between your forearm and the force applied (in this case, the force of gravity on the weight)
Gravity always acts directly downwards, sin is maxed at 90⁰ -> the hardest part of the curl will always be when your forearm is parallel to the ground.
All physics aside, has dude never heard of a preacher bicep curl? They're good exercise, but you've got a bench so you're not wearing out your shoulders while you do them...
I’d rather not risk overstretching my bicep
Sean is the savior we did not deserve. Thanks for all the no bs content 💪
May Allah reward the brother who was telling them to stop, he was not ashamed of the haqq even if everyone around him was doing it.
My favorite part of these videos is the look on your face when you glare at the camera - it’s worse than cursing out the person 😆
Thank you, I appreciate it when you clarify lifts. I'm so tired of these influencers
I really do appreciate your content. Stay Strong Brother
I saw "never do bicep curls" and my first thought was "what will I do on leg day?"
Sean you are the best. I usually hate shorts as a video format, but you and SquatUniversity make full use of it without it feeling like fastfood brainrot! I always learn something.
I will always take your advice above other fitness influencers. Your insight is second to none.
You're absolutely right Sean. Thank you for your honesty. Which unfortunately is very rare in the world we live in today. I do palms up barbell curls and tricep bar hammer curls. Neither of which do I get a significant "stretch" of the biceps. I've tried (for 5 months) the seated dumbbell curls for that stretch, instead of palms up curls and I actually lost muscle as a result. I also tried the arm bomber to keep my elbows fixed in position. I didn't lose mass on that BUT I DID LOSE STRENGTH AS A RESULT. So i went back to what actually works. Simple techniques easy to overload and consistently perform.
Im always getting compliments on the size of my arms especially the biceps. Some people have even accused me of not being natural. So you can definitely get great gains on the biceps with no stretch whatsoever.
Just put in the effort, eat right and sleep enough and you'll succeed. Keep it simple, keep it safe and keep it up. Nobody ever needed an influencer to succeed at anything. These self appointed sports gurus are holding so many people back and preventing them from reaching their potential.
Solid info.. often what works for one does not for another.. variations, dial into you.. do you.
Bros carrying the whole cake industry 😭☠️
The editing is 🔥
💯 great critique.
I'm grateful for this. I keep my elbows to the side bc I had open heart surgery and can't injure my sternum. So I'm super careful. Glad I saw this
I swear I want that instrumental you use in these videos to vibe to. Also, great video
The only thing I’d recommend to always do when training your biceps is to supinate your dumbbell curls as that works both functions of the muscle.
biceps are also partially involved in shoulder flexion, meaning moving your arm forward contracts them slightly and instead of having minimal load in the fully stretched position now you dont even enter the fully stretched position which defeats the whole purpose
While not everything is black and white when training he does have a point when it comes to keeping your arms a little more forward to get more load. Personally for me, I find it very easy to do normal bicep curls at my side and usually have to do 20-25 reps to actually get some type of tension. So what I like to do is after doing normal curls I get a barbell and put my arms a little forward just like the guy did in the video and the difference it made on putting load on my biceps was substantial. Variation is the key
I mean the bicep physique says it all bro
Nailed it
im still early on in my fitness journey, but im realizing how simple it all is with a basic understanding of the physics of your body. Listening to influencer is great but think critically about the advice you get.
Ahahahahaa I agree, the elbows forward curl causes my shoulders to activate. I know my body is weird but I have learned to find alternative workouts that give me the tension I need. Thank you for reassuring us Sean that some workouts are not always cookie cut
Sean 🧠 💪🏽 🐐
Fun fact: when doing the preacher curl you should squeeze the muscle at the top and its a great exercise for the lower bicep part
This is why I do all three when I work arms. Standard standing dumbells curls, standing barbell preacher curl, and sitting reclined arm curls. All three give good stretch and don't risk tears.
As a general rule of thumb, just do the simple stuff and cut out the fancy bullshit.
THANK YOU
Damn bro caked
Why is bro so caked up
Even if you do workouts a little wrong still your muscles will grow 😊
Yeah Jeremy just did a study on this and recommended preacher curls for growth
Standing bicep curls and concentration curls are pretty much my go-to. I'll do preacher curls with an ez bar every now and then, though.
Curling with the shoulders when at the max concentric also help as long as you're not using momentum since the biceps are also used in that motion (besides the deltoids)
I like having my biceps in front of my body. It feels good. I also like to raise my elbow at the peak contraction. It feels good.
As long as you’re not swinging your hips into a curl, who really cares. It’s a curl. Your biceps will be fine.
That dude got cake. I need to learn what he is doing.
Also, if you really care about the stretch then holding your elbow further forward is a bad idea, since that shortens the bicep at its top insertion point. That’s why preacher curls and spider curls are more peak contraction focused movements
His advice is to basically remove some pre-stretch from the bicep. Straight up bro science
Only a Sith deals in absolutes. 😁
Bro said stretch under load and proceeded to stretch his biceps less by bringing his arm in front of his body 💀
Holding your arm in front of you doesn't lengthen the biceps ultimately anyway because the biceps are bi-articular. So full lengthening of the biceps requires shoulder extension.
call that bullshit out all day 🙌
🙋♂️ I’ll listen to the person that actually has biceps to show. 😂😂😂
Yeah, I have been experiencing explosive biceps growth by keeping my elbows next to my sides. I don't use any part of my shoulders to get the weight up. Slow and smooth movements all the way. But then again, I don't close my mind to good variations either with a common sense foundation; and when the point arrives when I'm no longer making progress, I'll cheerfully try a variation.
Thanks Sean
Literally used to do my bcurls like that man does and I’ve noticed my elbows started to hurt. (Doing Regular weights, not overloaded)
You’re a saint. “It’s not black& white” is so fkn true. What works for you, might not work for others.
Stop selling the “perfect xxxxx routine” trend.
The most optimal form of any lift is to perform the opposite of whatever function that muscle serves so in the purpose of the bicep would be to flex at the elbow, slightly turn your wrist outwards on the way up and slightly bring your elbows in front of you as you curl for a full contraction
Mike Mentzer has entered the chat.
Sean looking really good.
I found that pinning my arm against my side, and only doing one arm at a time, gave me the best mind-muscle connection by faaaaar. It feels great for me and my arms dwarf that dude's.
I like resting my elbows on my hips and driving the dumbbells towards each other. Not actually letting them touch, but creating tension in the biceps.
Fr. Plus it looks like it would put a lot of unnecessary strain on your elbow joints
Not me doing seated bicep curls as I see this pop up
Useful informations , thanks sean ❤
also getting a full stretch under load is not at requirement to grow the muscle - its one of the apparently most important benefactors. (you should do it, but not doing it wont mean no gains at all)
What the heck is this guy's humor? 😂
Surprised you didn’t mention that holding the elbows in front of the body shortens the biceps - since they cross the shoulder. The entire reason for using an incline bench for curls, so you can start in a stretched position with the elbows behind the body.
This guy has a bbl 😂
Also has a higher chance of tear when doing heavy barbell curls.
Sean just states facts and is coming to be the only fitness influencer I trust. Why does it appear that the rest of the fitness industry is always trying to make exercises more complicated and often less effective than it can be.
Maybe ot was the fact my dad had the preacher curl bench when I was growing up, but I've known that those positions work different parts since I was 7. Plot twist, holding your arms further behind you works out different parts.
That’s why we have preacher curls
my first thought was a preacher curl
Also, holding your arm out like that reduces the load in the top portion of the excercise
BBL Drizzy
You know its gonna be good when you see Sean look up at the camera with a face that looks like someone shat in his food
