Ice is very easy to find in space I've found so many asteroids that are solid ice I've harvested millions of ice from one an its not even close to done they shine spotted from over 10 KLM away looks like glass almost, also smoke was probably something burning from heat from thruster hitting it anything within 2 blocks will burn apparently also turn dampeners off save huge amount fuel then turn back on when you need to stop ship but doing that I use 10k ice in fuel without turning dampeners off I use x4 that amount leaving planet to 0 G also you can speed up to max speed turn dampeners off an turn off thrusters an coast I've traveled 40-50klm just floating at full speed an hydrogen tanks will refill as I float save alot of fuel that way for sure

I have the Scarce Resources mod on, so no ice on asteroids. I used this mod to make it harder to find specific resources, but it is fun to struggle. I'm going to have to check my ship to see what is toasting it lol.

To save fuel you shouldn’t full burn because your pushing against the speed barrier= waisted fuel. instead you should burst fire your thrusters, for example let the speed drop to 70m/s then burn to 100m/s and repeat

God damn I spent hours converting my little pod to my first ship then immediately crashed it into a mountain side on my first ice mining mission. Lost my battery and a few thrusters, I rebuilt it and flew to the base I have been setting up but now it has no power, I look at this and I think I barely scratched the surface

I'm new to the game. If Unsupported Stations is OFF, won't your Station float through space? If Unsupported Stations is ON, are there any known major issues with it? I feel like an anchored block to build off of would be critical to maintain position, no?

I usually leave unsupported stations off, but on the grid's information, you can convert to station or ship.

I figured it out. Setting it to "Station" means the mass is reduced to 0 and therefore it won't move (or something like that...).

Im very excited about this project...thinking through my first space station. 2 questions- did you enable unsupported stations and what in the world is that rifle you're using...never seen one take out small grids like you did on the drones

Unsupported Stations is unchecked in this series. The rifle did little to nothing, it was the ship's turrets that took down the drones.

So how did you get the solar panel part to rotate instead of the station itself🤔

You should use steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1316048908 Blarg's Ascent Cruise Control
    on the way up.

fyi rocket's launched from earth launch straight up. they look like there going at an angle but its the earth rotating under the rocket

well that's just downright wrong, I see someone has never played Kerbal Space Program! They do what is called a gravity turn, where they start straight up, but lean farther and farther towards horizontal until they are fully horizontal once they are in space. Also in most rocket launches, they are accelerating to the east,(or with the rotation of the earth), otherwise they would need to cancel out the speed they already have from the rotation, meaning it would require more delta-v to enter orbit towards the west than towards the east. In order to get into space they need to get up to 28,000 kph straight horizontal (about 10 times the speed of a bullet), they are in a state of constant freefall once in orbit, but they are moving so quickly horizontally, that they sort of "miss" the earth and just keep freefalling.
