A Moff is a governor of a sector of space. Tarkin is the Governor of the outer rim
exactly, we have 3 mixed political / military roles in that case:
- Governor (like Price for example), that is the basic one and is for a system
- Moff, that is for a very important system or for a all sector
- Grand Moff, for a group of sectors or an entire rim
Many times all are ofter referred simply as "governor"

@@43186choco They're binging the crap out of it and just releasing on schedule is what I read. You heard them: this was recorded before May 4th: that's more than two months ago. They're probably late S2-early S3 by now, if not mid S3.
The entire tone of the show changes when Tarkin shows up. ❤
He arrives and sets the tone of not to be messed with immediately and then reinforces that by killing off the comic relief

I love, LOVE how this series sets everyone up like a sucker in the first season. The first twelve episodes, while certainly not "silly," are definitely not very "adult" in-tone. They even set up Grint and Aresko as stereotypical bumbling secondary antagonists, the incompetent MAD henchmen to the Grand Inquisitor's Doctor Claw. ....And then we get to this episode, and Tarkin straight-up summarily executes them. That moment, complete with Tua's absolute shock (seriously, this would be like seeing one of the lesser "GI Joe" villains like Major Bludd have a panic attack and a crisis of conscience after seeing Cobra Commander have Destro decapitate Tomax and Xamot right in front of him) is the first true turning point in the show, where it shifts gears from "kid-friendly" to "hard PG-13" on a dime. The show hits the accelerator with this arc, and barely lets up until the end of the series.
I love Tarkin so much in this he just turns up insults all 3 of the main antagonists this far and then kills off the comic relief characters of dumb and dumber in the coldest way possible
An Imperial Moff is a governor of an Imperial sector. Gideon from the Mandalorian is an Imperial Moff, but Tarkin is a Grand Moff, which means he presides over a lot (if not all) of the system and he's higher in the Imperial chain of command. If I remember correctly the only one above Tarkin is the Emperor, and he's roughly on the same level of authority as Vader and when they work together who's in charge depends on the specific mission and who the Emperor specifically says is in charge in that particular operation. If you remember Episode IV, Tarkin seems to be able to command Vader and Vader doesn't mind (like when he tells Vader to stop Force choking the snarky Imperial officer who trash talked the Force), but they also mostly speak to each other as equals and when Vader decides to go off on his own to find Obi-Wan Tarkin doesn't try to prevent it or order him around. He knows his authority over Vader only goes so far and they respect each other.
Also considering Tarkin knows Vader was Anakin Skywalker who he had struck up a friendship with during the Clone Wars, it's no wonder that level of respect and equality is there.
One of my favorite Kanan moments have been in the next episode. I have nothing more to fear now oh my God that moment was just crazy
“Vader’s just on mustafar telling people to do things.” Oh no no no. Vader has been quite active since he was put in the suit. He was doing some lower key stuff at first but he’s definitely doing much more by this point. Check out the Vader comics by Marvel
Tarkin calling the jedi ancient history is a tactic. Palpy has had most information about the jedi, and to an extent the Force, suppressed to better support his lies and probably prevent any wanabe new jedi. “The jedi were kind of a cult who maybe had weird powers and tried to overthrow the government, but the important thing is they’re dead, we got rid of them, so don’t worry about it. Unless you see someone who seems like one or could become one, then tell us about it so we can take care of it.“
Yeah, but that tactic doesn't work when they are parading around Inquisitors, the people hunting this supposed "extinct" Jedi. And they're not even being secretive about it either. Even a random ass bartender from Tantooine knows about Inquisitors.
@@Commander_Shepard. that’s why Tarkin says Kanan can’t be a jedi and why they encourage reporting on any suspected ones. If someone appears to be one they’ll just call them an imposter or wannabe. Or that they’re one who managed to slip through the cracks. “Oh hey, they’re slippery and secretive too. As _criminals_ tend to be. Right, loyal citizens?”
@@jonmercano1138 Yeah but that doesn't work when there are clearly Inquisitors around whose sole purpose is to hunt down these so-called "extinct" Jedi. Why would citizens believe Jedi are extinct if Empire still keeps around a group specialized for killing Jedi. And Inquisitors aren't a super secret black ops type either. Even the bartender from Kenobi series knew exactly who Inquisitors are and what they are doing.

Admiral = Naval Commander
Grand Admiral = Fleet commander (Soon to be revealed character... trying not to spoil)

You know I find it funny how people say this show is too kid friendly yet when you look at it closely there are still several gruesome ways people seem to die or get maimed XD
While the Emperor rules over the whole empire, the Moffs rule over their designated sectors. Grand Moff Tarkin was assigned to govern the entire outer rim sectors.
To put it another way - while Governor Price is a local governor, that supports the empire, that handles the day to day local governing. A Moff is an Empire assigned governor that oversees the local governors, and the military.

"No casualties" -- riiiiiiiight, the guy Kanan blasted square in the chest and off of his speeder-bike, and the two guys Sabine pop-pop'd walking into the Radio Tower are all just fine, I'm sure.
Do not unnderestimate the durability of the Empire's Stormtroopers.
Stormtrooper armor absorbs energy blasts and dissipates them as kinetic energy. Most of the time, when a trooper is shot they aren't dead, they are either knocked out or incapacitated by broken bones.
i always thought tarkin meant no civilian casualties. That sets the ghost crew apart from saw guerrera's faction, who doesn't care about civilian casualties.

I may get hate for this, but I think s 1 is the best of the 4. It has a tight seasonal structure, builds a great rivalry between Kanan and the grand inquisitor, and develops the ghost crew’s found family dynamic well.
People going crazy because the Grand Inquisitor decapitates 2 Imperial Officers but everyone seems to forget that Ahsoka decapitated 4 Mandalorian warriors with one move during the Clone Wars.

Anakin and ahsoka sensed each other from completely different ships, and again across the vacuum of space in Rebels S2

@bruh-fw7op season 7 of tcw was a ground breaking event that nearly every powerful jedi felt and siege of lothal part 2 during the space scene where they chase vader kanen helps ahsoka sense vader rewatch it yourself

That whole Jedi being ancient history after only 15 years is Imperial propaganda. Keep in mind that at their height there were only 10,000 Jedi in a galaxy of trillions so most people went their entire lives without ever actually seeing a Jedi. The Clone Wars brought them more to the spotlight but not necessarily in a good light and after they were accused of treason they probably aren't something you'd hear people talk about in the open very often. The Empire also put effort into replacing them from the history of the war by assigning the achievements the Jedi accomplished in the war to their officers like Yularen and Tarkin.
Just like Agents of Shield's Turn Turn Turn, this was the turning point for this series when shit turns real :D

I always saw Tarkins quote about “this Jedi you speak of cannot be what he claims” since the Jedi are “all” dead as a diss at kanan basically saying he doesn’t hold up to the Jedi of the republic that Tarkin saw repeatedly. To me at least, in his mind the inquisitors exist to hunt down Force sensitives with potential not full blown Jedi. By referring to the jedi as ancient history he telling everyone in the room that Kanan should not be seen as invincible

Y’all have to realize there was 10k Jedi in a galaxy with quadrillions it lives. Even during the Republic most worlds wouldn’t encounter Jedi often. It’s not a surprise that the galaxy think of Jedi in a historical sense just 15 years later. 😊

So to be fair when Tarkin says there are no more Jedi he is wrong but not in a technical sense. The order is dead and the few remaining are all in hiding.
The inquisitors hunt the jedi in hiding yes but they also find force sensitive individuals and either recruit or kill them. They also run the jedi... lets call them crypts where all the dead jedi are "stored". So Inquisitors have more roles beyond just looking for Jedi. That is just their highest priority.
Think of it this way. Vader is only one guy and has a lot to do around the Empire. So the Inquisitors are kinda like Vaders hunting dogs. If they find and kill a Padawan or two that escaped Order 66 great. If they die fighting then that just means its something worthy of Vaders personal attention.
Han Solo thought Jedi and the Force were superstitions. Which was weird because it's only been like 20 years since there are armies of those Jedi just running around. It's like thinking the Cold War was ancient history. It has to be unfettered Imperial propaganda that made it seem like the Jedi were myths
God, when Chris and Spidey mentioned Starkiller it reminded me of how badly I want Starkiller to get a canon appearance again. Just one little taste. No better candidate for a show/movie from the Sith POV.
Hope you guys plan to speed up the Rebels reactions. This series basically goes hand in hand with Ahsoka. You will definitely be facing spoilers if you watch Ahsoka before finishing Rebels. Heck even the trailer has big spoilers in it.

Tarkin will give Vader orders, sure they're backed by the Emperor but make no mistake, Tarkin isn't afraid of anyone, Force sensitive or otherwise.
Oh make no mistakes Tarkin knows how far he can push Vader when push comes to shove the emperor will back Vader over everyone (without Skywalker’s turn to the dark side there is no empire with him as Emperor and he’s likely dead at the hands of the republic & Jedi for Treason he knows this and so does Vader)

Tarkin is second only to Sideous in the empire. He's on the same level as Vader himself
@@xtremej2575 no, he’s not. He’s considered the least important grand moff, the third highest rank achievable in the military. Any insquisitor is ranked above all military ranks in authority and rank.

He's friends with Anakin Skywalker (and thus later Vader, it's cannon in the new books that he knows who Vader is),
And he's also in Palpatine's direct circle of "Friends", so he has direct political influence, one that was built during the Republic's waning era,
He may not have the "Rank" so to speak of at this point in his history (He becomes a Grand Moff during Rogue One), but he has the ear of the Emperor directly open to his suggestions, that gives him power beyond his station.

Why do the characters in this show bob their heads backwards and forwards constantly when talking?
I saw a panel where they talked about how it was to make it more realistic. If you look at people having a conversation in real life at least one part of their body is always moving, raising shoulders and eyebrows, leaning your head in, that sort of thing.
