Vader usually fights one handed with weaker opponents but switches to two handed if they last longer than he expects. So when he immediately fights with two hands it shows that Vader knows and respects how much Anakin has trained his padawan

I've just binged all of clone wars and im now working my way through rebels for the first time. It just so happened that my roommate's boyfriend, who sorta convinced me to watch them in the first place, walked in as I got to this part so he got to see my genuine reaction the whole time. The way my breath caught when he says "Ahsoka" with the shattered mask with the layered voices just hits hard every time.
if only in the scene where they show vader's face with a half mask, after saying "Asohka" he blinks and his eyes turns blue, then when he blinks again his sith eyes return before saying "then you will die"
This actually feels like something more than just Anakin and Ahsoka.... 'Anakin Skywalker was weak, I destroyed him'... when Ahsoka says that she will avenge him.... this sounds so much like the Son and Daughter from Mortis. Anakin was subjected to what the Son wanted (what is seen, can never be 'unseen', regardless of what the Father did), whilst Ahsoka was given the lifeforce of the Daughter, and a new, more powerful life. The parallels from the Mortis arc, and this episode is too much to be a coincidence.... the Daughter realises what the Son has done, and confronts him. In the battle that follows, she wins a couple of fights, but he eventually gains the upper hand... and this is essentially repeated here. When Ahsoka replies with, 'I am no Jedi'.... she is speaking with the aspect of the Daughter. It really takes a special focus in the force to undo the 'Sith bleed effect' on khyber crystals, to change them to pure white.... and it is not something that can be taught.
I don’t know if anybody noticed this. But for a moment, when Vader looked at Ahsoka, his pupil dialates. This happens when we look at something or someone we like, or have affection for, so he still cares for her deep down. But then his pupil shrinks again as his hatred returns, wonderful little detail they put in there.
This episode and this scene still gets me all these years later. This was a powerful scene in the show. There is nothing like watching this show as it came out. The uncertainty and anxious anticipation when the season ended kept me on the edge of my seat and counting down the days to the next season. This was the episode that officially got me hooked to the show. And the music when they begin fighting was just perfect. It simultaneously conveyed the tragedy of what was happening and the inevitability of the battle.
Season after season we watch Anakin protect Ahsoka, love her, more than anyone......then to see Vader hell bent on killing Snips. Holy hell absolutely heartbreaking 😭😭😭
I’d rather watch this scene for 4 hours straight than watch Rise of Skywalker or Last Jedi. This scene is the perfect example of why Filoni should have done the sequels.
I don’t understand why everyone thought Vader was trying to trick her when it was that Anakin called out to her. His eye visibly changes color showing just a glimpse of change from Vader to Anakin but then Vader overcomes Anakin again. When I first saw that scene I thought exactly how it was supposed to. Frustrating people think he’s trying to trick her like are y’all really Star Wars fans? 🥲😅
Yeah, she just badly wounded him (kind of like getting a splash of cold water) and is about to leave -- possibly forever. So some deeply repressed part of him, that still wants to see her, comes to the surface and calls out to her before he even realizes what he's doing.
"Then you will die" The clone wars Anakin VA saying that and the classic lightsaber startup.. bro.. that was the most badass scene i have ever seen from Star Wars hands down
Came around to see this again, and finally noticed a detail: Vader fights Ahsoka by holding the lightsaber in both hands. He's taking this fight very seriously. You watch his appearances against the Jedi in "Rebels" and in other recent Star Wars media, and he fights other Jedi with the saber only in his right hand. I don't believe that's just chance. It's story design. It's a sign of arrogance and contempt: "I'll fight you one-handed just to entertain myself and make it seem fair." This fight caused him to snap out of that mode. Skywalker trained her very well, and he knew it.
To think that in the Mandolorian/Boba Fett times, Ahsoka was in a totally different, more Zen and mature state of being and state of mind, knowing full well she IS a Jedi and acting like one too.
She never said she was Jedi in the mandalorian or boba Fett. Other people called her that but she never took on that title. That's why she left. Perhaps you are the one whom has some maturing left to do. Having a head cannon is fine but insulting others for not having the same one is immature.

It's the little touch of bring Matt Lanter back for 2 voice lines is what breaks everyone's heart. Because in the first line Matt is more prominent, so you hear Anakin calling out to his apprentice. In the second line Matt is lowered so the Vader voice is the louder one, and is telling Ashoka she will die.
You know say what you want but I'd feel Ahsoka would make more of an impact on Vader than Luke would, sure it's his son but he spent so much time with Ahsoka. Either way this scene will always get me sad and excited!
I think the fact that he knew her before he changed is part of why she never could've helped him. Whenever he gets near the light, Vader can always make the excuse in his own head that the people he knew didn't help him when he needed it or were even responsible for his fate. He can't bring himself to kill Luke because unlike every other fight, Luke's opposition to Vader is entirely because Vader valued his loyalty to Palpatine more then anything else and Luke is, well, a good person in a bad situation.
I mean.. when this was coming out we didn't know her fate.. and since Vader.. well is Vader and he has to survive.. it's more "will she survive?" vs someone like Kanan vs Grand Inquisitor where it can be legit asked "will one of them die in this fight?" since neither are previously established characters..
I love how "I am no Jedi" has become probably Ahsoka Tano's most iconic line out of all the media she's been in. It just held SO much weight to it when she said that line in this episode! "Revenge is not the Jedi way." "I am no Jedi."
Does anyone else remember Anakins' eyes starting as blue when he first says Ahsoka when his helmet breaks. Then, turning back to orange when he says, then you shall die. I could have sworn that's how the scene went when I first saw it. But maybe that was just my brain rewriting it. Would been better that way.
I like how all the sides and angles turned red at the exact same time Vader turned his lightsaber on while watching Gaxelle’s reaction (she’s cute, btw).
A sad thing that occurred to me whenever we see things like this. Scenes like this. The moment we see Ashoka resolved to face Vader in combat we know her fate is sealed. We *know* Vader cannot fall until his fate aboard the Death Star… like in the beginning we *know* the end…
Only thing I wished was changed is that they made him focused his rage after a blink like "that hurt but not enough to kill" That would show how deep he was in vader and how he swapped
I had to comeback to these clips after watching the finale of the Obi-Wan series. It's like everyone is taking a slice outta Darth Vader helmet 😆 🤣 😂 😹
The reason Anakin allows Vader to stay in control and keep himself submissive to the pain of the dark side is because he believes he killed Padme and his unborn child. He can't imagine returning to be Anakin a be without them so even though he cares for Ahsoka he doesn't feel it is enough to forgive himself. Only when he sees Luke about to be killed and his daughter's eventual suffering at Luke's death is it enough to become the father, he never had but wants to be for them and Padme's memory. I theorize after he saves Luke and destroys the Sith Emperor, like Padme, dies of a broken heart, and not his suits failure. In Anakin's mind and heart, he can fulfill the prophecy save his children and pay for Padme, cleansing his soul (in his opinion) and bringing peace to the galaxy, at last. Thank you for your patience, may the Force be with you.
anakin saying “THEN you will die after she says she won’t leave kinda shows that he’s saying he’d let her go if she left but if she stays THEN he will kill her. All the people assuming he was tricking her were wrong.
i feel like Ahsoka would've helped Anakin redeemed himself if she didn't say "I won't leave you, not this time" i feel like that line alone triggered something
Nah, although it got to him slightly, his eyes never changed. She was third in line as to who could him out and wasn't close to being able to do it. It's impressive and justified enough that he even took a second to think. I get your point though. I wonder if his eyes would have changed for a second before returning to yellow if she left that part out
You know with the scene resetting after the line, “Then you will die!” Is funny cuz the first thing you hear is “It wouldn’t be the first time!” Referencing obviously when she did die in the clone wars and was then brought back. Happened once in this video but was really funny when it did
I really did not like it when people were like oh he's tricking you he's tricking you! It is not in Vaders nature to manipulate... only to destroy... he doesn't need to manipulate.
He didn't trick her by saying her name I belive he was trying to spare her giving her seconds to retreat as he stands there in silence but since she wouldn't go and vader is too far gone at this point he reverted back to his mission and tried to kill her. But then again was he ? He's taken down jedi stronger than ashoka and he knows exactly how she fights I belive whether he was trying to kill her or not he was conflicted had he gone all out ashoka would've been dead
Oh she reached him for one second ... he didnt tried to manipulate her... it was this one moment where she was be able to reach him... in a matter of several seconds ... thats makes this scene even more sad because it wasnt enough -.-

Watch Clone Wars through all the seasons and this scene becomes one of the most powerful moments in Star Wars history
“Twilight” was the climax of Rebels.
if only in the scene where they show vader's face with a half mask, after saying "Asohka" he blinks and his eyes turns blue, then when he blinks again his sith eyes return before saying "then you will die"
Vader, who is notorious for his cold comebacks, couldnt find anything to say. Deep down, it hurt him.
Good observation
I don’t know if anybody noticed this. But for a moment, when Vader looked at Ahsoka, his pupil dialates. This happens when we look at something or someone we like, or have affection for, so he still cares for her deep down. But then his pupil shrinks again as his hatred returns, wonderful little detail they put in there.
That happens when i look in the mirror, guess i hate myself ☹
@@MrToxic200 Who doesn’t 😂
@@mash9104 Wait do you mean who doesn't hate him or who doesn't hate themselves?
This episode and this scene still gets me all these years later. This was a powerful scene in the show. There is nothing like watching this show as it came out. The uncertainty and anxious anticipation when the season ended kept me on the edge of my seat and counting down the days to the next season. This was the episode that officially got me hooked to the show. And the music when they begin fighting was just perfect. It simultaneously conveyed the tragedy of what was happening and the inevitability of the battle.
Ahsoka will forever be the beet female protagonist imo. Her character arc and badassery is amazing.
Instead of Ahsoka, he should’ve said, “Snips?”
Top ten scene in all of star wars. Maybe top 5
When you think deep about it it’s so sad thinking about the clone wars show and all the memories together, Maybe I’m drunk but it just hit me
Season after season we watch Anakin protect Ahsoka, love her, more than anyone......then to see Vader hell bent on killing Snips. Holy hell absolutely heartbreaking 😭😭😭
10:00 the guy is so excited 😂😂 but the woman doesn’t want to be there
I’d rather watch this scene for 4 hours straight than watch Rise of Skywalker or Last Jedi. This scene is the perfect example of why Filoni should have done the sequels.
I completely agree.
"Then you will die"
The clone wars Anakin VA saying that and the classic lightsaber startup.. bro.. that was the most badass scene i have ever seen from Star Wars hands down
Second best line from the Star Wars world after “No. I’m your father” from Empire
Why is it important that Ahsoka acknowledge that she is a Jedi? Being a Jedi should NOT be important to her own self identity.
@@DRush76 It's not important she just accepted that she is. People get wise when they grow older. Your just not at that point yet.
She never said she was Jedi in the mandalorian or boba Fett. Other people called her that but she never took on that title. That's why she left. Perhaps you are the one whom has some maturing left to do. Having a head cannon is fine but insulting others for not having the same one is immature.
@@Dakarai_Knight , say what??What are you talking about?? Don’t know who you’re directing your comment to but….may the force be with you, I guess?? 🤷♂️
@@FREETHINKER-05 oh sorry I meant to put @Qugie
This and the Maul/Obi-Wan scene get me every god damn time 😭
It’s heartbreaking to see the mix of horror and heartbreak on her face when she sees Aniakin under Vader’s mask really good detail
8:35 Make sure you catch Jesse she's still watching this series , So is blind wave but they're almost finished , and storm And of course itsaprimate all who I subscribed to...Soon they will be watching Twin suns episode .. Itsaprimate is the most genuine the guy in the end Because he's watching everything like how we saw it....he's not jumping anything he has no clue what's gonna happen.. All in release order.. Everyone else knows what happens to one of the main characters ,Because of the Mandalorian episode
I love that the show acknowledges that a lot of fans have been waiting for Ahsoka to square off against Vader since was introduced
I like to believe that Ashoka opened the doorway for Luke to save Anakin from the persona of Darth Vader.
6:55 that was such a "YE- oh shit my parents are sleeping"
the obi wan series fight between obi wan and vader borrowed much of their fight from this
It's the little touch of bring Matt Lanter back for 2 voice lines is what breaks everyone's heart. Because in the first line Matt is more prominent, so you hear Anakin calling out to his apprentice. In the second line Matt is lowered so the Vader voice is the louder one, and is telling Ashoka she will die.
That point where Matt Lanters voice pops in... heart stab every time.
my master could never be as file as you favorite line ahsoka ever said
Everyone was literally about to start crying in this scene, as if they were trying to emotionally preparing themselves for Vader killing Ahsoka.
You know say what you want but I'd feel Ahsoka would make more of an impact on Vader than Luke would, sure it's his son but he spent so much time with Ahsoka. Either way this scene will always get me sad and excited!
I mean, it’s his child with Padme so it’s all he has left of her
I think the fact that he knew her before he changed is part of why she never could've helped him.
It’s the best dialogue in all of star wars, totally epic
I love how every reaction everyone's just like "Ashoka please don't die" cause Vader is just that guy
I mean.. when this was coming out we didn't know her fate.. and since Vader.. well is Vader and he has to survive.. it's more "will she survive?" vs someone like Kanan vs Grand Inquisitor where it can be legit asked "will one of them die in this fight?" since neither are previously established characters..
Hy Eowyn from The Lord Of The Rings
Hy Ahsoka from Star Wars
"I am no Jedi"
"I am no man"
Yet another reaction mash up to an iconic SW moment! Keep em coming
Lmao SW just reminds me of Sex Worker
I love how "I am no Jedi" has become probably Ahsoka Tano's most iconic line out of all the media she's been in. It just held SO much weight to it when she said that line in this episode! "Revenge is not the Jedi way." "I am no Jedi."
He should have said Revenge is not the Jedi way, Snips and taken her head while she was stunlocked.
Does anyone else remember Anakins' eyes starting as blue when he first says Ahsoka when his helmet breaks. Then, turning back to orange when he says, then you shall die. I could have sworn that's how the scene went when I first saw it. But maybe that was just my brain rewriting it. Would been better that way.
no
What made this more gut renching was she never met him when he was redeemed.
“Use the force” that girl had me dead when she said that w those eyes🤣🤣
I like how all the sides and angles turned red at the exact same time Vader turned his lightsaber on while watching Gaxelle’s reaction (she’s cute, btw).
A sad thing that occurred to me whenever we see things like this. Scenes like this.
The moment we see Ashoka resolved to face Vader in combat we know her fate is sealed. We *know* Vader cannot fall until his fate aboard the Death Star… like in the beginning we *know* the end…
Ahsoka is one of the best female badass characters that aren't cringe but awesome af
Only thing I wished was changed is that they made him focused his rage after a blink like "that hurt but not enough to kill"
That would show how deep he was in vader and how he swapped
I love the crazed and menacing look Ashoka gets in her eyes when she thinks Vader killed Anakin.
Ahsoka is truly my favourite Jedi knight. She has come a long way since she was a Padawan.
I can't believe no1 geek out the way I did when she said "I am no jedi" till this day I go bat shyt crazy over that line
I had to comeback to these clips after watching the finale of the Obi-Wan series. It's like everyone is taking a slice outta Darth Vader helmet 😆 🤣 😂 😹
it goes to show how good Ahsoka is that she's on the very short list of people who fought Vader and lived
Reva survived twice. Strongest force user ever confirmed. Thanks KK 😒
i hope we get closure for Ahsoka and Anakin in the Ahsoka series
Goosebumps every time I see this
This is why I don’t understand in the new Ahsoka trailer when they are listing off her accolades and “JEDI” pops up. I thought ahsoka wasn’t a Jedi?
I think literally anyone pre-predicted that line. Even i did.
She’s no Jedi, she’s a CiViLiAn!

Citizen.
Most of these people for sure have not see the clone wars. The reaction to anakins real voice was unforgettable
It is crazy how when Ahsoka first came out, everyone hated her. Now she is one of the most loved. Now that is damn good character development.
anakin saying “THEN you will die after she says she won’t leave kinda shows that he’s saying he’d let her go if she left but if she stays THEN he will kill her.
I wonder if his eyes would have changed for a second before returning to yellow if she left that part out
The audio mix of Matt Lanter and James Earl Jones when the mask is broken is everything
Yeah plus I don't recall Vader knowing Ashoka name think he only called her the apprentice or the other Jedi only Anakin would know her name
@@alexpena4091 they're the same person. He definitely know her name
i really wish vader had said snips in this scene
He didn't trick her by saying her name I belive he was trying to spare her giving her seconds to retreat as he stands there in silence but since she wouldn't go and vader is too far gone at this point he reverted back to his mission and tried to kill her. But then again was he ? He's taken down jedi stronger than ashoka and he knows exactly how she fights I belive whether he was trying to kill her or not he was conflicted had he gone all out ashoka would've been dead
Best moment in star wars history
disney have the opportunity to release the best live action scene so far with this one
Oh she reached him for one second ... he didnt tried to manipulate her... it was this one moment where she was be able to reach him... in a matter of several seconds ... thats makes this scene even more sad because it wasnt enough -.-
I like Vader’s voice in Rebels, I just don’t like how he says, “Revenge is not the Jedi way.”
He says it a little too slowly and slightly slurred. He sounds drunk lol
such a heavy thing to carry, that if she had stayed by his side, he might not have turned......
I love that they all knew exactly what was coming
One of the most depressing fights in Star Wars 😢
I have "I am no Jedi" tattooed on my thigh with Ashoka's symbol
So is no one else gonna point out that vader had eyebrows?
They used the clone wars face model. The show had a very low budget unfortunately so they had to cut corners
11:00 “Master versus apprentice… never thought I’d see the day”
Some guy with the high ground: 🤨
Ahsoka never said who her master was just that he couldn’t be what he became Vader instantly calls anaikin week without any knowledge that he is her master he confirmed the truth without event realizing it
But he is anaikin😂
@@coolkid6248ontictok correct but to Vader they are 2 different people “anakin Skywalker was week I destroyed him”
