One of the first games I can remember playing ever. I loved dinosaurs when I was little too so that just helped feed my addiction. And seeds of evil was Goated
I can't remember a remake I was more excited for than when they announced Turok 2, there's not a single other game series that is quite the same vibe, at least not that I've found.
I forgot about that slogan until now. I remember the game boy color ads with the "get into it!" With the disembodied lips. There were some wild ad campaigns back then.
I definitely NEED to check play this game when I get the time. I have both 1 and 2 on Steam. It’s just a matter of getting around to it. I hope that Nightdive remaster Evolution. I’m sure they’d be able to turn it into something good because the foundation seems to be pretty sound. They’d just need to fix the aiming/glitches, improve the flying controls, add checkpoints, and restore cut content. I’m aware that’s definitely a pretty big undertaking, but it would pay off. It’s so weird how we haven’t gotten a Turok reboot with the resurgence of Boomer Shooters. It would be awesome if we got a game that used the best elements from across the series to craft the perfect Turok experience. Nightdive are definitely the right people to do it.
Absolutely worth playing, I'm stoked they just released 3 on steam, I haven't played it since it originally came out on the N64, I'm pumped to play it again, just gotta find the time. I have to imagine with the N64 trilogy remastered evolution has to be on the way eventually, a full on reboot would be amazing as well it's just such a unique setting.
I grew up playing this game on the n64 as well as Turok 2. For my whole childhood i never owned a memory card for the system so literally i would play till i got bored and turn it off then would start from the beginning again, it was thanks to cheats that i even saw the ending to this game.
@@aquawalrus Yeah I never even beat turok two till the nightdive remakes and it was then i finally learned the game had two endings cause just like 1 i used cheats in 2 to beat the game but if you use cheats to just teleport yourself to the final boss then when you beat him you get different ending where the totems don't kill him.
Subscribed and watching your videos from oldest to newest. I recommend Microprose's Darklands from 1992. Oldie but Goldie and incredibly deep lore and level mechanics.
Happy to have you here! I've never played Darklands, but a few others have recommended it as well so it's definitely on my list for a video. Looks right up my alley and even has a GoG re-release, which is always a bonus
@@aquawalrus thank you for replying! It's a nice mix of 90's RPGs and "doom-clones". Heretic and Lands of Lore brought me here. Darklands can be a grind at the start but gets very satisfying once you reach a certain point. The official cluebook which can be found on the Internet is also a must in order to understand the mechanics and make the most out of your party and the world.
I would love to have this on switch for when I'm on the go, but have to admit I'm spoiled being able to use mouse and keyboard, so much easier to aim that bow for me.
Pretty awesome review. This game doesn't hold your hand like modern FPSs, hence the negative reviews. Also, don't forget the remasters have mod support, with a plethora of map and texture mods
@@ZombieCSSTutorials I actually hadn't thought much about mod support, but that could be really interesting. I'm always amazed at the things a fan base will create for something they like.
Playing on Hardcore I think I... might prefer this one just slightly over Turok 2. Both have great gameplay, but Turok 2 is a game I usually need to take a few breaks from as the later levels are somewhat stressful at times. Turok 1 is a game I can pick up and run n' gun from start to finish in a few hours. Also: you can one-shot enemies with the regular arrows. Hold down the draw until you see the tip of the arrow sparkle and then release; it will one-shot anything but bosses. A bit broken until you realize that there are only like 4 arrow pickups in the game.
Definetly agree. Turok 2 is my favorite just because I love the atmosphere, but for being able to just pick it up and play Turok is leagues ahead. The respawning enemies really encourage fast gameplay as well.
I would not say it is the worst shooter, but if you owned a PC back then it wasn't really worth playing. I gave it another go when the remastered version came out, but the platforming was, at least in my opinion, just horrible. But that's just me, glad you enjoyed it! And I'm glad I discovered your channel!
@@DieWeltIstSchlecht definetly my favorites were on the PC, but I had better access to an N64 in those days. This one was good, but Turok 2 was the real contender with PC shooters for me.
@@aquawalrus I'm going through your reviews chronologically at the moment, and I saw you also made a video on part 2 :) After that I might give it a go!

16:59 - Alternatively “Get ‘N, or get out!”, as the slogan went. :D

15:49 Turok’s moves as the complex explodes. 😂😂😂

For Turok 1 that's not too bad, but I can't imagine playing Turok 2 from scratch every time, that game is massive!
At least the first level is fun!
