    Thank you for sharing. It's mind boggling how IKEA is selling all of their mirrors with LEDs and LED lights for mirrors without any switches.

      Thank you! Yes, I was also very surprised to see no switch in the box..that's when I realized I have to hack it! :)

      Because they're supposed to be used as bathroom light, which is turned on/off with the lightswitch outside the bathroom..

      @@Goldy01 thanks for the reply. I get that and for simplicity it makes sense. Having said that most bathrooms are also fitted with extractor fan which kicks in as well. If I am going to bathroom in the middle of the might or early morning I prefer to keep it quiet and not to get blinded by the main lights - this is where separate switch comes in handy.
      I managed to get myself Astro 1010001 Curve Wall Light Switched which does the job and has somewhat standard bulbs that can be replaced with LED at 5000k. Beauty.

    Thanks for this, it's a great practical idea and saves doing complicated electrical wiring and hacking holes in the drywall in order to install a wall switch. I can't believe Ikea didn't include a simple switch with this mirror. There's no proper warning in the product description. BTW Ikea don't seem to sell this circular mirror in the UK anymore, only the larger square version and as I no longer have the receipt I can't take it back, so I will use your hack instead.

      Hello Henry, same thing has happened to me, I came home from IKEA and found out the mirror had no switch. Totally agree - warning on box should prevent this!

    Awesome video thank you so much but I have a question what is the power source is it a regular wall outlet?

    • @tomk6401
      @tomk6401  4 роки тому

      Thank you Kevin! To reply your question, yes ' power source is 230V, directly connected to sensor switch...Hope it helps..

    Hi! Was the power supply that you used, the same one that the mirror came with or did you buy it somewhere else? The one it came with looks different and the light isn’t as strong when I plug it in. Can you tell me where you got yours? Thank you :)

    • @tomk6401
      @tomk6401  4 роки тому

      Hi Jennifer, there is no power supply included with the IKEA mirror. Mirror comes only with wires with you have to connect to your power grid. But in my case I connected this sensor (bought from Amazon) in between mirror and power grid. Honestly, if you have no experience with electricity I warmly recommend asking help from electrician or friend who has some experience... I hope it helps? Let me know how it went!

    Hello I was thinking of doing the same thing and I was wondering how you hooked up the sensor to mirror?

    • @tomk6401
      @tomk6401  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Sierra! Sensor itself is not firmly attached to mirror but only hanging. Actually it's slightly pinched between wall and metal casing of mirror (rear side). Hope it helps..thx..

    Hi Tom, how is your sensor switch holding up? I saw some reviews saying that it stops working after a couple months.

      Hi Alazia for me it works just fine. Each day the light is switched few times for the past 18 months now so I would say it's pretty reliable.

    Hey buddy, I got the exact same motion sensor hoping to install it the same way you did, but I’m a bit lost about which wires go where.

    • @tomk6401
      @tomk6401  3 роки тому

      Electricity wires from the wall go to sensor switch INPUT. OUTPUT from the sensor switch goes to mirror light. Or in another words, sensor switch is between your electricity cables and your mirror. Check video at 1:05. Hope this helps. Enjoj!
