Clash of the Titans in 2010, coming off the heels of Sam Worthington’s success in Avatar, made enough money to justify a sequel. Was anyone really asking for one? No. But we got one anyway in glorious 3D! Remember that craze?
Wrath of the Titans definitely raises some questions. Like why didn’t Zeus revive Perseus’ wife again? Why are all these gods made of sand? What’s Andromeda tagging along for? Why are fire-breathing creatures hurt by fire? Does being inside an exploding Titan not hurt at all?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to John Wrath of the Titans!

But as it turns out, trying to make Sam Worthington a star is super hard, very much an inconvenience.
Most people dismiss he's in one of the biggest billion dollar franchises of all time for some reason. 😂
Avatar called. It wants to correct your comment 😜
@@IllisiaAdams Those avatar sequels aren't doing so hot though
Not if the Stonecutters have moved on from Steve Guttenberg

Yea yea yea 😄
Or its "whoops" 😅 "whoopsie!"
wow wow wow. wow
you know the movie really sucks if this happens!
I think this was the first time we got a second “Hey shut up (again)”
"Hero gets smoochy-smoochy."
Absolutely true, nothing close to an inconvenience.
Zeus should have smooched him at the end right after he smooched Andromeda. Perseus doesn't have to like it, but you know Zeus would be into it. :P
@@ScionStorm1Zeus would be into *anyone*
One of my favorite bits from this movie was Ares ignoring villain 101 and making the mistake of bringing Perseus' son to watch Ares beat Perseus to death, making the classic blunder of giving the hero just enough son-loving motivation to beat Ares.
Right up there with blunder 101.2 Not killing the good guys as soon as you capture them, but tying them up and giving them time to escape.
Producer guy's willingness to experience a fishing movie gives me hope
Now you know how Salmon Fishing in the Yemen was made.
Hahaha producer guy who loves money a lot going for a fishing movie is insane lol
The fishing movie was clearly the better pitch and should have been made instead.
@@davidgantenbein9362 would you still have cast Sam Worthington lol

I find it funny how Zeus is always designated as “the good guy” and Hades is always “the bad guy” in these Greek Pantheon stories even though Zeus is canonically one of the biggest jerks and a serial rapist while Hades just wants to be left alone in the Underworld.
The only thing worse is usually, when they depict Hades directly as the devil, completely ignoring how dumb that is. But all in all, Hades is about as nice as any of the three brothers can ever be.
You proabably haven't played God of War 1-3. Could be wrong. :)
Yeah, I say the same thing. My friend told me that he once read a book series where Hades was the main character and a good guy, but he couldn't remember what it was called or what it was about sense it have been years since he read it. I want to read it.
@@davidgantenbein9362 Well, the competition for "best brother" is quite weak regarding those siblings
@@Ovetupp Greek gods in a nutshell … but yeah, given they are all associated with natural disasters back in the day, „not as bad“ will be the best you get.

I agree with some of you: Kronos CGI is amazing. The way he moves, the feeling of weight, and the constant sound he makes as he moves was great. Kudos for the CGI Team, they actually put effort in this film.
And then they saw the movie it ended up in and they've been phoning it in ever since.
I really love it when Ryan does pitches for older/less well-known movies for some reason
Older? This is the sequel to a shitty remake from.... (checks the dates on IMDB).... ohmygod, the sequel is from 2012 ??? Yikes.
Sorry, I grew up with the 1981 Clash of the Titans. This is... I think I need a lie-down.

I expected something more along the lines of politician or lawyer. But a trade school would be better for him.
Or became an evil wizard obsessed with immortality and one kid with glasses...
A Greek God having to adapt to the mundanity of the typical human life is honestly a great concept for a movie. Like a reverse Bruce Almighty.
I can't wait for your eventual pitch meeting on the oft forgotten prequel in this series, Remember The Titans.
"And Andromeda is gonna be there."
"What is she gonna do?"
"I just told you."
So legendary and yet so underrated
Writing female characters is so hard, isn't it?
I mean, she did smooch Perseus at the end so she did do *something*
wait, if the gods can combine their weapons to kill Crownose why didn't they just kill him instead of making a deal to be subservient to him?
I’m gonna need you to get aaaaall the way off my back about anything to do with Chronos.
Because just like the majority of Greek mythology, they had daddy issues.

Lol. Yeah that trope of "gods were real but people stopped believing in them", is funny to me. Like, why did they stop believing in y'all? Just do some god stuff. Smite people, cure a plague, turn wine into water. It really shouldn't be that hard.
That's pretty much the plot of the first movie. It didn't work.
Smiting people is TIGHT!
@@diegogonzalez5273 Zeus was pretty incompetent. Honestly if he could have figured out how to keep it in his tunic and stop assaulting unsuspecting women while disguised as animals he probably would have been much more successful.

Someone told Ryan it was going to be hard using "actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience" twice in one skit and he told them "actually it's gonna be super easy, barely an inconvenience".
My completely unfounded theory is that Ryan is going to start overusing that phrase every chance he gets until we all get really sick of it and he eventually doesn't have to say it anymore. 😉
There was always one thing that bothered me about this movie, if Hades is no longer the Lord of the Underworld what happens to the human that die?
I don't think human souls ever ended up in the underworld. Hades said that humans "go to another place when they die". A place that gods have no power over.
@diegogonzalez5273 well that's stupidly convenient. Hades job is to help the souls of the dead pass through the underworld so they can either go to elysium or tarturus. Which is the Greek heaven and hell

I just want an old fashioned War movie following the Titan/Olympian war. No one covers that epic war. Everyone just alludes to it. It's sad. The moment alone where Pan steps onto the battlefield and scares the entire Titan army into chaotic retreat needs to happen on screen. Seeing Prometheus as the Titan's master tactician while his brother Epimetheus reveiws past battles and their brother Atlas the army's General would be a great change of pace instead of just seeing their punishments after the fact (Prometheus strapped to a boulder with his liver being eaten by a bird, Atlas forced to hold up the sky, Epimetheus wife, Pandora, being tricked into opening the box)

LOVE all of your Pitch Meetings, you're so spot-on with all of your critiques!
If you do Dune (2021), can you please comment about the Fremen "sandwalk" talked about twice (done once) before meeting Fremen? Later, when they're walking with the Fremen no one is doing the Sandwalk. That was always a funny oversight to me during that short scene.
You mean when they're all walking together at the very end of the movie? It looks like in that scene they're walking on rocks, so the sandwalk would be unnecessary. It's also possible that they knew no other sandworms were in the area besides the one that was being ridden off in the distance, so they weren't worried.
@@madspet9106 thank you for the response. Yes, that's the scene I was referencing... To me it looks like they're walking on sand. But I can see "rocks" being the exception to the rule if they are indeed on them. You should do some pitch meetings for some of the real old classics.
Like Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, From here to Eternity, or Ben Hur. Or any of the many great movies made before 1970.
But the point of Pitch Meetings is to show how stupid the subject movies are.
@@timl.b.2095Yes, and no. Ryan clearly loves a lot of the movies that he is mocking. He's done Pitch Meetings for even some very highly rated, Award-winning films. Yes, a lot of the PMs are bad movies that are really easy to poke fun at, but a lot of them are great movies but ones that have plenty of flaws, nonetheless. It's the same with Honest Trailers and How It Should Have Ended. The writers of these shows have all said that sometimes it's kinda hard to find fault in some of these movies because they love them so much, but they do it anyway because the fans requested it. You can love a movie and still take-the-mick, and even the best movies have faults.
@@IllisiaAdams yeah but most of the PMs are trash, sorry! Until now only the "Breaking Bad" PM was for a show I really like and that PM didn't worked well.

Both Clash and Wrath were a Gemma Arterton hair away from greatness. Those movies had - almost - the whole formula, attractive and dynamic stars, great effects, stunning photography - but both movies are missing something small but vital for a real gripping movie in the vein of Aliens or Star Wars and I can't name what it is. Also the main memory I have is a scene from Clash is Gemma Arterton (as Io) walking single file down into the dusty cave with the other demi-gods but nicely making a thigh flash all the same.
