I don’t understand how deeds in the US can be forged or don’t prove you are the owner? In my country, the sale or rental of a property needs to be filed with a Notary Public and those documents immediately identify you as the legal owner.

    • @luisarturoorduna2098

@@wplains Same here in México, all land property must be inscribed in the "resgistro público de la propiedad" public registry of ownership and the land taxation office... but there are still many ways to try to "legally" steal your property... they may forge a sale or donation contract, either by you or a previous owner, or perhaps a document of inheritance by some previous owner to try to prove that the person that sold or inherited you the land had not been the legal owner thusly invalidating any proof of current ownership... can they be caught and charged with fraud? yep... but if the judge in the case or someone in the public registry office is corrupt then you'll be facing a lenghty and expensive process of trials and appeals.

Late 70s, early 80s, I worked at a local fruit farm. Don't know how many times I saw someone with their head hanging out the window to look at me since I clearly wasn't a guy and was driving a tractor. Once a guy stopped when I was getting ready to head out on a tractor. He needed directions. He called me sir in a questioning tone.
For a while, I had a t shirt that said, the best man for the job is a woman.

We went to get some hay. The farmers barn was out by the road, but they had built a new home back in the field quite a ways, so we waited. Here comes a little girl on a quad, she opened the barn and told me to go ahead and back our trailer in to the stockpile of hay. It was kind of close to a combine they had parked in there, so the LITTLE GIRL (Turns out she was thirteen) asked if I wanted her to move it so I had more space to back in. I said "You can drive that? Cool, I can't drive it!".

The AITA story; I can kind of understand. Nowadays, there really are a lot of fake people, so it's acceptable to trust but verify. What really sold that he was the asshole was the end. The military teaches you accountability. My buddy is retired armored Calvary and he tells me stories. They teach you not to say "sorry". Sorry doesn't unfuck what you fucked up. They teach you to say "I Apologize" and then get your ass reamed out and fix what you fucked.

If they came back onto the property after that to try and have people look at it, you could phone the police and they'd go straight to jail. 👀 Don't break restraining orders, which you should definitely get if they're harassing you this much. Would have solved the problem months ago. 🤷

@@roadtripsquirrel9879 Not to mention the story conflates a civil lawsuit with criminal proceedings; when you sue someone, no one is found "guilty", and no one gets jail time.
If they tried to defraud the court with forged documents, the judge would have ruled in the OP's favor, and then separate criminal proceedings would begin for the forgeries. In all likelihood, they'd make a plea deal, instead of being "found guilty". But the story here just says they were "found guilty" during the lawsuit, with no mention of any other proceedings.

Soon after a lawyer and the sheriff stopped by to tell us that we had one month to either buy the house or get out. Turned out that the man who rented it to us did not own it. The real owner was an elderly woman in a nursing home. One of her friends came to visit her and asked what happened to her house, because it was gone. Story One: Both women should be in prison. In some places in the US at least, what they were doing was actually felony level fraud. We're talking them trying to basically commit grand theft of property. When you're talking housing, the legal lines are VERY strict and people go to prison for this exact type of nonsense. They were trying to sell land they don't own, land is worth tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. This level of fraud should've really messed up their lives way worse than that.

The second time those women brought someone over to "tour the farm", I would call the police and have them arrested, and while they were dealing with the police, I would call their broker and warn them that their realtors were pulling a fast one. Talk about a lawsuit, not just on the realtors, but on their broker, but roping in the office AND the company.
My mom was a real estate broker, and my father was a realtor. I grew up in an atmosphere of real estate and the laws around it. In the US, a broker is in charge of a number of realtors. The office may have only one broker, or several if the office is large. The office represents a larger company. Each layer has more and more rules, regulations, and statutes governing how they are allowed to operate.
The dog and pony show those realtors were presenting would have gotten them virtually keelhauled by their broker, and at the very least a session of figurative bastinado from the office. And they probably would have gotten the metaphorical iron maiden from the company. Then things would have gotten NASTY.
On the military story, there's so damned much stolen valor out there, it's hard to know when someone is bullshitting. J painted herself in a corner by going quiet about her service after bragging about it to begin with. If you're not able to talk about it, DON'T TALK ABOUT IT! Bringing it up, then getting all cagey and not wanting to give any details would have made ME suspicious. If you don't want to talk about it, you can't get pissed off if someone won't believe you when you can't or won't give supporting information to your claims. Stolen valor is too painful a thing for many servicepeople. They may have serious injuries, even amputations, and having someone start making claims and putting on airs, but then dummying up, really makes a lot of veterans royally pissed.

About some of them ringing the doorbell for 10 minutes, what you need to do is find the doorbell power transformer and disconnect it. It may be mounted to the side of your breaker or fuse box. If it is not there I don't know where it will be. All you want to do is disconnect it. If it is on its own breaker just turn that one off and test the doorbell to make sure it does not work. Also does your porch look new? Put up wet paint signs warning of slippery conditions that may exist until the _very slow drying_ paint dries! They don't need to know if the paint really is wet or not but they can touch it since if they damage it they would be personally liable for damage they did to the paint. You would just have the wet paint signs up to clear yourself of liability from someone who might call your bluff and try to walk on it!

One of my biggest fears is running into a Karen at a craft show. I crochet stuffed animals and other small thing like hats, scarve, soap savers ect... the prices for my stuffed animals are based of the cost of the materials(yarn) to make them . For example one of my wings of fire dragons is $32 for a solid color yarn and $35-42 for a varigated or gradient color yarn depending on where i get it from. I like using the hobby lobby yarns and they sell the skeins for $5-6 a pop and most of the time the multi colored yarns have less yards on them than the solid colored or sparkely yarn, for example i could get 377yds of i love this yarn in lilac without sparkles or get one the same color with sparkes but only get 257yds. I have talked with other crafters about pricing on my items and many of them say im under charging them. I did raise the price to by a dragon on my etsy to cover the fees and the shipping costs of the dragon. What im worried about is someone coming up to me and eather yell at me for "stealing/selling the work my grandma made" or yelling at me that my items aren't worth the price. I do plan on making custom order sheets for a few item where im offering a 50% off the item if they buy the yarn for the project.

I mean, if word ever got out that they sold a farm land that was not actually for sale, that likely would have also cost them their realtors license as well. Because they would not have the legal rights to the land from the bank/county or the previous owner; it'd be no different if they stole a car and sold it for cash only for it to be back tracked to the original owner.

Then in court have "experts" say they have dementia and a startling amount of time they succeed in conning the court into awarding them the property.

The OP from the last post sounds, at least by description of symptoms that she gets, like she has dysautonomia (essentially a problem with the way the brainstem communicates with organs/body functions that are considered autonomic functioning and is often referred to as Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction).
Luckily for her though, at least going off of the symptoms she mentioned, she only has a moderate form (but stress can trigger new symptoms or worsening of existing symptoms). Here's hoping that that Walmart trip didn't scar/stress out her condition and body more than she already has to live with/manage daily.

After 9/11, you wouldn't believe how much people of Arab decent were targeted as terrorists. I was at our local store where a girl that was 15 at the time at the register while her parents were unloading a shipment was attacked by some Karen type guy, calling her a terrorist. I threw the guy into a display which wasn't my intent, it was just to get the guy away from this kid. The parents heard the commotion from back of store, came running up which the guy took off seeing he was outnumbered. He called me a traitor as he ran out the entrance. I lost my first wife related to 9/11 but I never once blamed others for it. We ended up becoming friends after that. I even gave the parents tasers should someone ever attack them again. And trust me, there have been plenty of crazies I kicked from that store myself. What was so wierd, their family goes back a few generations in the USA, and not one of them have that iconic accent, so not sure why they get targeted so often .

I know because I've had it from breathing drywall dust (a neighbour ripped out at least 6,500 square feet of lath & plaster walls and ceilings and their window fans blew all the dust into my yard as I was doing yard work and I breathed it in when I was enveloped in a cloud of very fine white dust without warning) and it put me in Hospital for 4 days because I couldn't breath through all the fluid and junk in my lungs...
I was a healthy adult and could quickly take myself to the ER when I felt my lungs start to clog up but a toddler or pet can't tell you that their lungs are starting to clog up or take themselves to the medics for treatment and if you don't notice their problem fast enough, they could die from it...
Regardless of the source (Inhaled Dust/Particles, Virus or Bacteria), Pneumonia is no joke, it kills dozens of people every year in North America alone...

I am on the fence for the woman who claimed she was in the service. She could have forged the documents and the recommendation knowing that just looking at them no one would question it or check up on it. He had the right intuition since she had no mentality for being in her position when she was serving. Your discipline takes time to wear down especially when high up on the service ladder. In fact most never leave their mentality behind, just soften when returning to civilization.
