I'm a tech head. I started off with VDJ which I still use from time to time. I have mostly used Traktor since October 2013 but have now been using Rekordbox DJ with a DJM-S7 paired with a set of XDJ-700's or a DDJ-800. I have Serato as well but have only used it when using another DJ's setup from time to time. Traktor is still my favorite. VDJ is like the swiss army knife of the DJ software world and has saved my bacon on quite a few occasions. Rekordbox is good, but there are a few quirks I hope they figure out that I plan on posting about in the Pioneer DJ forums.
I’ve recently started using Traktor DVS and found it more reliable than RB DVS, the program and library management to be less user friendly than RB. What quirks do you find with RB?
@@craigbishop4644 the biggest one there is relates to sync. RB assumes when you sync two tracks together that the user wants to make the one track as fast or slow as the original BPM of the track the user syncs to it. The software then changes the pitch range automatically. SO if you want to go from a track playing at 100 BPM to a track playing at 126 BPM the software changes the pitch range to "WIDE." unless the user is aware or is looking at the screen to see this change, as soon as you move the tempo fader the BPM goes absolutely wild! Trakltor does not do this. It stays at the range set and never changes no matter what. I find this feature behavior in RB very strange. VDJ, Traktor , and Serato do not do this. They behave the same versus RB. It's irritating to say the least. There are a few threads about it in the Pioneer DJ forums.
😮 Pioneer is officially a lone survivor pioneer with this FLEX 10 😊 i bet this controller will set the standard for Legendary DJs. 😱🤑 Prion Jo ni good job sir 🤯 thank you 🙏🏼🥵😁🥰
This looks dope! I started with VDJ cause somebody gave it to me. Got good with that but as I started getting more professional DJ friends I saw ALL of them used Serato so I naturally joined them and have not looked back!!! The only way outside of Serato that I would want to get better with us just CDJs straight up with the mixer. Passed that ain’t nothing touching Serato in my mind lol
In my case i started on vdj, tried serato and went right back cause serato just wasn't as reliable in a few ways for me. Today VDJ has the best stems .... and if it was added to the vid when the comparisons were made it would hv shown it. Serato has some catchin up to do there but as for rekordbox stems... it's worse.
I still use VDJ there is no advantage to Serato that sounds like you bought because others had it. VDJ is very much the go to software for working DJ's. It does video before the others added it, Karaoke and DVS. It has a great stems engine. That is fine until I see some better examples than I've seen it's not that important. Most of you need to work on your craft more than adding more technology. I have been DJ'ing since 1986, do the math.
Agreed. I have the free version of rekordbox just to analyze my files for when I'm playing out on a system where they have rekordbox decks. Otherwise I use serato for my personal use and have all the features I need without having to continuously pay like I would with rekordbox. It looks like you can't even record your mixes with rekordbox unless you're in one of the pay categories. For that alone I'll stick with serato
@@dj4monie I’m happy it’s working for you. I moved over because Serato was, and really still is, the professional standard and I liked it better lol. Rekordbox (program) is the other standard at this point too for laptop DJing. I have nothing against VDJ but I have never seen anyone use it in any situation other than bedroom DJing and very small events. It’s like the google pixel of the DJ world: Actually pretty good, may have features first, but only a select few really care about it. Serato did an Apple with the stems and didn’t do it first but did it better when they debuted it. Again, this is the opinion from a DJ in Atlanta, GA whose been spinning from 2007. Your area may vary.
@@shadie2k there never will be. People have to face the fact that the Opus is the XDJ-XZ2! Pioneer want Djs to believe it's not because of the tremendous backlash they got. As long as the 4 CDJ/DJM combo exists, they will NEVER do a similar layout controller which can substitute that.
This is getting closer to what I'm looking for. Still not happy with the lack of Flip controls from within serato. Would have loved scratch bank. Still prefer capacitive touch jogs, but it seems a solid competitor to the rane 4.
flx-10 make me get a DDJ-1000 even more then ever , it feels kinda gimmicky , hope everyone buy flx-10 and ddj 1000 prices goes down :D and as always thnks for the great video man
I have been rekordbox user since I started. First I had a ddj-400, but I got a Denon DJ Prime Go instead now, however, still using rekordbox as source because it in my opinion has the best library management (I use tagging and intelligent playlists associated with the tags). I love the Prime Go and that it can read rekordbox library, use streaming services, run engine lighting etc, but effects arent great and I would like something to scratch on comfortably as well. FLX10 could be the alternative controller for me.
Great vid as always thanx Mojaxx! I've been a long time Serato (Denon) user who recently upgraded to the Pioneer DDJ RX3 & Reckordbox. It was a head fuck trying to learn & navigate Reckordbox which I did but found it personally cluttered and overwhelming. I've sine sold that unit and gone back to using my Denon MC4000 as I like the simplicity yet power of Serato. I think when I do upgrade next it might well be the Rane 4 or I love the look and feel of the Denon SC5000/6000 perhaps with a rotary mixer...!?
Great review Mojaxx. Thanks for the stems demo on both platforms. The price great! Have you had a chance to play on a decent sound system with it? Hopefully the sound card is great. I used Traktor before I switched to serato. Their Stems were the bests I ever heard. They used a different Audio format for them. However, if you made Traktor Stems yourself, it required 3rd party software. The results were shotty at best in my opinion. I’m sure rekordbox will tighten up their stems algorithm. Will be interesting to watch it all play out between different dj software, now that rekordbox is in the mix. (No pun intended)
Serato stems are great, VDJ is ahead though (but required a GPU for live work). What I'd love to see is a format where stems can be precomputed by whatever software and read by rekordbox/serato as a standard. Flac has 5.1 and 7.1 formats for surround, so basically 4 stems could fit in the 7.1 format. Just needs to be decoded correctly. That way it doesn't require heavy CPU.
@ntokozohlatshwayo165 You can laugh all you like. I own the Infinity license, so there's no real valid point in switching to another software like Serato....which I have tried out a couple times & I didn't care for it. In the end, it comes down to personal preference & I always choose Virtual DJ. It's just better, especially with stems processing 😉👍
Great review as always...I use a DDJ1000 with VDJ 2023 (18 years now with this software) I'm thinking is it worth me selling mine and buying the Flex10? I do like the look of the box, The Opus Prime is outta my league sadley.
I think the only real reason I would sell my 1000SRT is if Sound Switch adds the FLX10 as a supported DMX controller, the rest of the upgrades are nice, especially the sound, jog display view, and jog response. But the rest is basically the same, either way I do want to try it out my self, maybe then I´ll want to just change to the FLX10.
Gr8 vid & thnx from Toronto. This will be my upgrade from my current Numark NVii to this is huge step up. Thanx 4 the goods, bads & ugly on this controller, I think it will be my 2023 purchase. Just a little disappointed on the DMX & what it's limited to. Guess i'll stay with the DMX controller.
Very nice hardware I almost feel that this would be the next step up for me but using DJ808's sequencer is still a huge addon so hopefully a future upgrade from Roland to introduce stems in the future.
Your review and comparison showing the diff in sound quality w stems amazing that’s what I needed to better understand. So question. You mentioned Pioneer needing to improve their separation engine. Is it fair to assume, that work would happen and improvements could show up on updates of RBX?
After just buying a 1000 SRT after waiting 9 months its frustrating to see a new replacement for that controller come out so soon. Although after watching your video apart from more Stems functionality im struggling to see what more the FLX10 can offer over my 1000SRT. Something to ponder for now but i'm holding off upgrading
Better sound quality would be the only other reason that really matters I think (which for me, is a pretty big deal) The ddj 1000/SRT doesn't sound very good, so if they made a big improvement there, that should be worth the extra couple hundo for ya. But on the other side, USB B is way more secure than USB C inputs. If your USB C cable gets moved a little too hard, it can disconnect way too easy and that's a total party killer.
After Virtual DJ revolutionized introducing STEMS for the first time in DJ software, things changed and today it can be said that Serato DJ Pro is the software that comes close to quality From Virtual DJ software in terms of the most perfect STEMS, after Virtual DJ Pro comes Serato DJ Pro right after 🙂
I went from Traktor to Rekordbox because all locations around here use Pioneer standalone gear and I was sick preparing my collection in two systems. No regrets as Native is lacking behind so much at the moment.
Looks more professional than the Rane 4, but I'm not sold on either one yet. I wish Roland would come out with a new controller. That's the best sounding one on the market.
Exactly. The only way I'm upgrading my controller is to be able to use a 4 channel one without a laptop. Pioneer has what seems like a wedding dj controller that is a 4 channel standalone. Maybe that's their entry to work out the bugs before they bring it into the real club performance controllers. So I can't see myself getting this when I'm sure a standalone version is right around the corner.
If they can get Mix Point into the CDJ3000s then I think that opens up a whole new range of possibilities. I think the true power of this feature is if Pioneer can work on some functionality whereby tracks can be paired with each other in Rekordbox. Those settings are exported to your USBs and when said tracks are loaded onto a deck, if Mix Point mode is enabled then a track will automatically start when it's been cue'd to do so, as the players are paired using Pro DJ Link. Yes the purists won't like it, but for DJs who do four deck routines and use say a DJS 1000 or some type of hybrid setup, it has absolutely huge potential IMO.
"If they can get Mix Point into the CDJ3000s then I think that opens up a whole new range of possibilities." Yeah, for the fakers out there. Then they could look like they are actually playing, whilst the entire set is on autopilot. NOT A FAN!
@@risquedj Don't use it then mate. If you want to continue playing Deck A into Deck B and switching your Lows for the next 20 years then crack on. Everyone else wants more options though and that's why these features exist, BECAUSE DJs ARE ASKING FOR THEM.

Hey mojaxx, you look like you lost a lot of weight. Mad respect! Thanks for the reviews!
Good review...and I have to say your voice is very pleasant to listen to
Crushing it Mr Mojaxx
😮 Pioneer is officially a lone survivor pioneer with this FLEX 10 😊 i bet this controller will set the standard for Legendary DJs. 😱🤑 Prion Jo ni good job sir 🤯 thank you 🙏🏼🥵😁🥰
the best honest review ever!!!! respect!
I order my flex 10 is coming next week I'm excited
This looks dope! I started with VDJ cause somebody gave it to me. Got good with that but as I started getting more professional DJ friends I saw ALL of them used Serato so I naturally joined them and have not looked back!!! The only way outside of Serato that I would want to get better with us just CDJs straight up with the mixer. Passed that ain’t nothing touching Serato in my mind lol
TBH Rekordbox makes Serato look like a joke in every way, I'd give it a try....
Again... Superb Video and comparison in terms of Stems!
Another quality review from the best in the biz!!! Thank you brother 🤙🏻 hanging out for an xz2 to replace my xz ! COME ON PIONEER DJ!!!
with the opus just dropping doubt there will be an xz 2 anytime soon
@@shadie2k there never will be. People have to face the fact that the Opus is the XDJ-XZ2! Pioneer want Djs to believe it's not because of the tremendous backlash they got. As long as the 4 CDJ/DJM combo exists, they will NEVER do a similar layout controller which can substitute that.
This is getting closer to what I'm looking for. Still not happy with the lack of Flip controls from within serato. Would have loved scratch bank. Still prefer capacitive touch jogs, but it seems a solid competitor to the rane 4.
flx-10 make me get a DDJ-1000 even more then ever , it feels kinda gimmicky , hope everyone buy flx-10 and ddj 1000 prices goes down :D and as always thnks for the great video man
Done, I'm buying one!
Not gonna lie, I replayed this review just to hear the track Mojaxx used again.
You look great an inspiration to all Mojaxx keep it up
Going to order me one of these today!
Great video sounds great audio DJ music 👍
I've been a Virtual DJ user for many years now & do not see myself switching to something else anytime soon......if ever 👍🤘
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@ntokozohlatshwayo165 You can laugh all you like. I own the Infinity license, so there's no real valid point in switching to another software like Serato....which I have tried out a couple times & I didn't care for it. In the end, it comes down to personal preference & I always choose Virtual DJ. It's just better, especially with stems processing 😉👍
Great review as always...I use a DDJ1000 with VDJ 2023 (18 years now with this software) I'm thinking is it worth me selling mine and buying the Flex10? I do like the look of the box, The Opus Prime is outta my league sadley.
Love your work. But that song though, haha. Cheers Mojaxx!
I still rock with the SRT. I’ll wait a bit more for a big change.
Great video Chris
It’s got SIMON (1980’s childrens toy) inbuilt! I’m old enough to remember what simon looked like but can’t remember ever playing with it
works great with vdj too.
also works amazing on vdj. esp the stems.
Excellent Review!!
Facts. They are cannibalising themselves!
Getting both rekordbox and serato compatibility is nice
@@johnnyvergonathey both have the same soundcard
Thanks for this super detailed video 😮🔥💜
Great review! Thanks!
Thank you! 🌈
現時点で、この動画はflx10の最も詳細な解説であることは間違いありません。素晴らしい
Would loveeee to see a comparison between this and the Rane Four!🙌🙌🫶🫶
Traktor user here since using laptop but will use Ableton solely if NI pull the plug.
i got the rev 7 wonder how this compares sure its a beast but no more new controllers for me
Quality, useful review
EVP with the vocals👀
I got 3000 but ordered now the flx10. For me its the perfect mobile controller for the next 4 Years. Whats the name of the song? Very nice
I would really like a review on how it works with Virtual DJ as it's got the best stems quality among all dj software
Great review - be is it the same dimensions as the DDJ-1000?
It’s slightly bigger. Not much.
Looks more professional than the Rane 4, but I'm not sold on either one yet. I wish Roland would come out with a new controller. That's the best sounding one on the market.
SERATO CLEAN AND LIGHT
Now if we have this controller as stand alone it would be a killer
Mostly I liked to play® Pioneer DDJ - RANE ONE , DDJ - FLX6 , DDJ - FLX10 and DDJ - REV7 with high quality and good price .
"If they can get Mix Point into the CDJ3000s then I think that opens up a whole new range of possibilities."
Yeah, for the fakers out there.
This is great and all, but no standalone? It's 2023. Great video!
It would be nice you guys would also highlight the ongoing distribution issues for all poineer equipment.. Anyone trying to order these is looking at a 6 month wait for delivery
Thats it I want one 😊
Great review as ever but it's all getting a bit complicated.
Im using ddj dj flx 4 was looking to upgrade to either flx 6 or rev 5 but think i might as well just get this Bad Boy
