  • Jessi gives an update on little miss Prickle the hedgehog who has been a very busy animal in her new enclosure. She's getting older, loves curling up in her huts, and getting cozy in her fleece blankets. Watch her get a foot bath and nail trim.

I had to do the same with some of my extremely senior rats when early stages of Hind Leg Deterioration started. Keeping them in loose substrate was making it impossible for them to get around their enclosure. It looked like the were swimming in place. I put them on fleece which needed changed daily. But was worth it to see them scoot around with relative ease

Do you guys think you can do a video where you walk the grounds at Animal Wonders and show us all of the different animals that are currently in your care? I've been binging all your videos lately, and it is sometimes difficult to tell just how many animals you guys currently have (and what that actually looks like). Plus, its hard to tell which animals are actually still in your care, or which ones were given away or passed away. I enjoy your videos and I think it would be nice to see some of the animals that havent been shown in a long time

I use fleece for my hedgie. I have a litter box that he uses for most of his potty breaks (except when he’s on his wheel). Then all I have to do is clean the litter box, take out the fleece, shake out any stray food and stuff into the trash, and I throw it into the wash. I have several fleece pads that he can use when others are in the wash. I also happen to use my extra fleece as reusable bedding as well. I cut it into strips and leave it in his hut where he can practice his natural nesting behaviors. 🙂

Mika McKinnon (look her up on Twitter) put odometers on her hedgehog's wheels, and found that he tends to run _several kilometres_ each night, which - stride for stride - is like a human running a full marathon every day. gizmodo.com/hedgehogs-run-a-marathon-every-night-1581300718/amp

    Hey, I love your videos!
Also I was wondering if you could help. I have an African Pygmy Hedgehog, he is about 3 and a half, I have had him for two and a half years. Last night, I was up late and I heard this squeaking and it was my hedgie and he was lying flat on his back with his little legs stuck in the air just squeaking! I have never seen anything like this from him before! He didn't seem to be making much effort to roll back over, and I don't even know how he ended up on his back in the first place. I didn't hear him fall off anything, or anything, normally I hear him kind of rummaging around in his cage and running on his wheel, but nothing and then just his squeaks and him on his back! Should I be concerned? I rolled him back over and had him run round on the floor and he seemed okay, maybe a little slow? I don't know if I should be worried or if he just managed to flip upside down by accident!
    Any advice would be great!

My hedgehog always goes under the mat in his cage to go to sleep, and he never uses his hide out.
My hedgehogs name is S'mores, it is a BOY duh! XD

I have 2 sugar gliders . A male and a female (the male has been neutered)
They both are young but the female is the youngest (or at least I believe so) She is smaller than the male
I have had them for a week
My question is that the female will climb on top of the male and ride on his back. Is this normal and why is she doing it ?

Nothing about being a pet owner scares me more than trimming my dog's nails!

mystic sound I did! I needed something that provided maximum space for the animal but fit in the available space we had. Above Prickle is our sugar glider enclosure that goes to the ceiling.

There's an idea for a video. Building a versatile and affordable enclosure.

I have a question for you , one day I was at my dad's house and my hedgehog was losing a lot of spikes but when I went to my mom's house she didn't lose a lot of spikes but when I looked at her ears she had like a little bit of dry skin should I be concerned or no?🥺

It sounds like your hedgie might have mites. They can cause skin to look flakey and cause quill loss. Take them to the vet for a quick check up, it doesn't hurt to make sure they don't have an infestation or other serious health issue. If left untreated, mites will lower their strength significantly and cause discomfort and self harm from overgrooming. Good luck with your little one, I hope you can find the answers ❤
