Haddock...you are a super star! Poor dogs...they have no chance of catching a flock...but time and again they try. Thanks for the post...makes me smile and understand how we love this breed!
Well, I think you need to re-think. I have a 4 year old Vizsla and on our daily walks in the local reserve I have been keeping score for him and his total to date is; 54 Blackbirds, a handful of Sparrows, a Magpie, two Pigeons, two Starlings, a Miner Bird, two rats, a mouse, seven possums and 6 feral cats. He is an amazing pointer and supremely fast. I had previously owned a Weimaraner hand hunted extensively with him - I really thought he was the "perfect dog" but now I have this Vizsla, well, the jury is still out.
i have been hunting with weimaraners for over 20 years now great all round dog and family pet they do all the work and love it the best hpr dog out there
...too bad about the hunting. There are roughly 350+ dog breeds. If you're not going to hunt, why pick a dog breed whose natural predisposition - which was developed for centuries - is to hunt? I know...you like the color. ?!?

Weims are the jocks of the dog world, aren't they? He's beautiful. I have a video posted of mine and there's an argument going on about docking their tails. Mine happens to be docked, I notice yours isn't. It's no big deal to me either way. But I did comment about it on my video.
My previous one didn't have his docked but when that tail was wagging... man, that thing turned into a whip! It actually left bruises it hit you so hard! So, as much as I hate it I had to get the next ones done
OH wow - what a big boy. My Tucker is 80 pound - 36 kg and about 67cm. I love watching the video - they all behave the same. My guy is a wicked lover boy and the Love of my life !! I had Toy Fox Terriers prior to my Weim - WOW what a difference, not only in size.. lol.. Thanks for the great video
I love the Weimaraner demeanor, their color coat and their light eye color. If you want to watch something fun, watch "Fay's 12 Days of Christmas" by William Wegman. It's a 1995 video (Distributed by KidVision, a division of WarnerVision Entertainment) . 4 Weimaraners enjoy Christmas traditions like trimming the tree and house, baking cookies and much more. If you like last year's Pet Life Holiday meal, you'll LOVE this!!! It may be a challenge to find it, (It may even be on UA-cam) but it's worth the time and effort. Enjoy! Wegman is a photographer who works with Weimaraners . If you have a chance to see one of his shows, take advantage of it. Merry Christmas and Happy Healthy New Year!🎄
Never seen one with a full tail. I adopted one in 1971, male 90 pounds, 7 years old. His name was Baron. He fought a similar Doberman owned by the Richmond, California Hell's Angels, over a female mutt in heat. Baron tore that dog's face half off it's head. Another early morning in the Sierra Nevada mountains, a bear wandered into our camp. Baron bit it on it behind, as it turned and swung it's claws at him he ran under it's legs and got right up in it's face. The bear turned and ran right into the front door of our big tent, tore out the back wall and as the snow was falling ran off into the dark night, Baron at it's heels, howling.
Mike Buttfild Ya, most bears are not brave and won't take on a dog. In fact, most NA carnivores won't take on a dog, so it's not a bad idea to take them with you while exploring the great outdoors. Plus, in a pinch, they're a great source of heat and if trained can catch food.
I have a weimaraner/labrador mix, when she was younger she sometimes hunt down small chicken birds, catch them in the air and broke there neck before she landed. Weimaraners are so fast and can jump high also. Good vid.
Nick Bernabeo No, look into veterinarian papers on the matter, that is just post ad hoc reasoning. We dock their tails because one in five hundred get injured, even though other injuries are much more common and problematic. There is a reason most countries have outlawed it.
Mon Irwin faisait de même. Il vient de nous quitter après 14,5 années de sa présence. Il nous manque car il était notre équilibre. Il était super avec tout le monde sauf les chats. Il repose en paix maintenant
You have GOT to play this video to a song called TOWER OF POWER.. Amazing... The song you can find it on Spotify .. Its EPIC . If The Spartans ever owned dogs . This would be the breed. My girl was the giant of the litter and she weighs in today at a whopping 90 pounds!! yup super size.
This is one of the coolest videos I've seen in a while. Would you maybe do another in the same style with a drone following your Weimaraner on the side/behind? I love the camera angle too, would have been even cooler with a fisheye lens.
My weimaraners do that for fun, not to hunt. When they follow a scent trail they point when they spot their prey. Both from working parents so done on pure instinct. I don't hunt but very glad they are not killers. I just praise them a lot for finding a creature. They are bred to find prey for the gunners to shoot. Wendy
bigkiwial He is not correct, you can look up veterinarian papers on the matter. Hunting dogs only injure their tails (to the point that intervention would be required) some incredibly small amount of the time and that one would have to dock between five hundred to a thousand dogs before you prevented one Tail injury. Also the tail provides a function and docking makes dog less effective at its job.

This is random, but I think it's great that you didn't dock his tail.
why do people cut the tails off?
***** the weimaraner's long tail can break and also be prone to infections so the tend to dock them. These days they only dock a small amount off.

Tail docking is to prevent dangerous tail injuries and cuts, now you know
Tom Bagiotas you are correct.
If that was the case then dogs would’ve lost their tails by natural selection
Dogs need their tails for balance when running
