When I was a child we adopted a retired brindle greyhound. We took her to the beach every Sunday for the afternoon, family day at the beach ( not this beautiful ocean just a river, but there was land and she could really get her speed up.) She would run like she was reliving her glory days. Running in circles, just happy to be free. She dug holes, in a shady spot of our back yard, but she would circle them three times then tuck herself the smallest size. That was back in the 1970s. She lived to the age of 17, Thanks for reminding me how awesome friend Sheila (a.k.a Peas & Rice) was.

I loved how she brought forth thousands of years of knowledge... to dig a hole in the sand to find a cooler place to rest in... just as her Egyptian ancestors would have done. Just like my old rescue dog digs a hole in the comforter at night before snuggling in behind my wife's legs. Thanks for giving this lovely girl a new life!
No one can watch this without "feeling" her pure joy and excitement ... You can literally see her thinking about how the sand feels and just how fast she might be able to go on it!
I know that feeling of seeing your greyhound disappear off into the distance. You want them to run but it can become a rescue operation all of a sudden. We went looking for our first greyhound after he saw a rabbit. We got in the car and started driving down the road in the direction he ran. Out of nowhere in the opposite lane comes Robo running down the road toward us. He ran past us just like a car in the other lane would, and at the same speed.
Do you have a collapsible water dish that you can bring with you? I knew she'd get thirsty running so much and seeing her drink so much sea water wasn't good.
@@samsmom1491 I thought about that too. I figured out pretty quickly to always bring water and a bowl with me for my dog on our long beach walks. The first time I took her to the beach I hadn't thought about it in advance. When we got to a river flowing into the ocean, she waded in panting from running and drank like a fiend. I'd heard that fresh water flows on top of salt water when they meet, so I hoped for the best. But on the way home in the car, she produced an enormous sea-water barf. That was the last time I took her to the beach without drinking water in my daypack.
They are man made, nature had very little to do with it. We did a damn good job. Lovely dog and clearly a conscientious respectful owner, I had a Greyhound myself that was a retired racing dog, sadly it had separation anxiety and would cry every time I left the house without him. @@alistairbolden6340 A damn fine job. It's a dog bui for one purpose and one purpose alone - to run very fast after something else very fast, and to catch it. But - all they are, are just genetics we selected for that puppies were born expressing. And with those came a dog that is also a wonderful companion. But like all working dogs - and these very much are born to a job - to expect a lot of them demands a lot of their owners. Wonderful, wonderful dogs in the rights hands though. Man, what joy watching this. An x racer, in total FREEDOM!!! wow. Even the digging, an laying in the hole, splashing in the water, running over and over again, the way God made her to run. I had a Dane years ago that would get a wild hair every now and then and go off a wandering. We lived in an old farm house in Nebraska on 10 acres and the dogs got to run around off leash when we went out. It was surrounded by fields and our nearest neighbor was the only one within sight. Most of the time, they were content to run around the property where we could see them. But every now and then, the Dane would just stop, look me dead in the eyes and I knew. I would try to call him back, but he would just stand there. Once I got within about 50 ft of him, he would take off like a shot and not stop until he was over the hill in the next field and out of sight. Ironically, this is how we got him in the first place, he had run off from a suburban home when he was a young dog and got picked up by Animal Control. His owners did not call for him. He was a big baby and I we had coyotes all around, so whenever he took off, I would load up the truck and go after him. If I went on foot, he would just run from me, if I could get anywhere near him in the first place. But if I took the truck, he would hear it. He loved to ride in the truck. So I would drive to the top of the hill, open the back door and yell for him. He’d come flying over the hill like a fur missile right into the back seat, very proud of himself. I miss that big goofball.

I totally agree on the water aspect. I always have to bring water for my dog while at the ocean beaches. He will drink salt water otherwise. And ocean water will make them sick if they have too much. And tbh, I was starting to get worried about this fella with the amount she drank. Need to keep them filled with water to the point they won't look at the salt water other than to splash around in. Pure joy! What a beauty....her color and those eyes! Thank you so much for sharing your Fairy's beach adventure. Love watching a greyhound run free!! ♥
So many misguided dog parents try to train just being a dog out of their dog(s), which I think is a form of animal cruelty. This is a whole video of just letting a dog be her beautiful self and I salute you for it!
OH MY GOD - tears welling up here. We had a rescued ex- racing greyhound (Millie) and she did the exact same things as Fairy! Bless you -ALL ANIMALS should be treated with love, respect and be free!!! Xo
She loved this! What a beautiful beach. It's so funny when they taste salt water for the first time. So much water and not a drop to drink. Did you bring fresh water with you? She must have been thirsty after all that running. I noticed she kept trying to drink the salt water.
Thank you letting Fairy be exactly what she is, a free loving dog. Letting her know that this is what life is and the life in her past is not normal life.
Thank you so much for sharing… I am a 24 hour caregiver and watching that beautiful dog run free was so uplifting. Her excitement and freedom gave me just a few moments of freedom myself. I can’t put into words the hope for my own freedom it inspired, thank you. I do hope you brought water along for her to drink, all that running she will need fresh water…
OH my goodness, this is REALLY spectacular. Your baby is a dancing marvel and so happy that you shared this terrific and joyful time. Those circles, that is the orbit she maintains to keep you in her sights.

Awhhhh! Lovie ! Yessss! This is what dogs need to do :-) What a lovely beach. I take a Whistle too, just incase my voice isn’t loud enough. And some fresh drinking water / bowl.
@teresadasilva8773 maybe because the dog kept drinking the ocean water. Seemed thirsty. Never saw it given water while out there. Or maybe the comment was only stating they bring water when they go.
I love watching a big dog run! Love her color and eyes! I never doubted she would come back! I think she circled to stay near you, not her racing career.
It must be so rewarding to see her learn to be a dog! Not just a chase the "rabbit" on an oval track, but an actual running free and playing dog with a loving human .vs. someone who quite possibly is figuring out how to make the most profit out of her life! Both of you are blessed to have each other in your life!!!

I have often seen dogs, large and small, on beaches, and they always let loose in joy. But this is an entirely new level how exciting to see her let loose and run at full speed. It’s an impressive sight indeed Beaches were made for children and dogs to abandon restraint and enjoy life with sand in their toes and the smell of the salty air in their noses. And here is a wonderful video of a high energy dog making full use of that. Thank you for sharing this event with us. I hope you’ll share many more!
She runs like a cheetah. She was made for it! She’ll always come back. Let her let loose sometimes! It brings me joy to watch this. Thanks for sharing!❤
A couple of thoughts after having watched this: at the same time, greyhounds are the high-performance sports cars _and_ the sleek super models of the canine world. They're such beautiful creatures. Then, watching Fairy running flat-out there on Harlech beach may be the best demonstration I've ever seen of the concept of "joie de vivre". Thank you for sharing!
What a beautiful animal! Her gate is not only incredible but elegant as well. It so wonderful to see she is having an incredible retirement with a loving family. So many of the dogs do not survive being racing dogs. I wish many more years of shear happiness and health to Fairy.
She is absolutely exquisite. I have never seen a happier Greyhound in my life, and I can't think of anything better for a dog like her. What a beautiful life you are giving her. ❤
That is one happy, happy excited little girl. I am so pleased to have shared that moment with you and her. She looked like she couldn’t believe how lucky she was! She is so beautiful as well
Beautiful! You can tell as she begins to run that she’s keeping an eye on you with every intent to return. GREAT bonding with this pup! Many dogs will just run as far and as fast as they can….mindless straight line. Lucky girl! She’s gorgeous.
Fairy is so gorgeous! I love to see the pure joy she is experiencing running free on the beach. I love to watch this video It makes me feel so happy. Thanks for sharing her. What a good Mommy you are!
It reminds me of my hound’s first trip to the beach in Cornwall. He loved it and we have some great pictures from the day. He’s 12 now and has dementia so won’t be going to the beach again. When I see him dreaming, I like to think that he’s reliving some of our lovely days together like that.
If a dog feels loved, cared for, and able to do their "job," they'll always come back. Fairy was bred to run, so running is her job. Great to see you letting her "do her thing." She looks happy. Good job!
I don't think that there is anything as beautiful as a greyhound running free and at her own pace on a lovely stretch of beach makes my heart melt every time😁😁😁
She’s very classy looking. Needs a pearl necklace with lots of strands!! What a sweet girl!! Fast as all HELL! ❤ Also, I love when dogs get rescued and adopted by someone like you, giving them a wonderful life!
Pure joy !!! Thank you for sharing this with us. My neighbor once had a retired racing dog and he was a sweetheart. Watching them run is a thing of beauty. And.... as you said..... seeing them live a life as a regular dog and enjoying life with their human family !!! For next time, a bowl of fresh water would be great. Dogs have such a huge capacity for joy! And it's such a joy to watch.
Pure joy! What a beauty....her color and those eyes! Thank you so much for sharing your Fairy's beach adventure. Love watching a greyhound run free!! ♥
This brought so much joy to me seeing that beautiful animal just running & being a dog. She seemed so happy. Beautiful to watch!!!
So many misguided dog parents try to train just being a dog out of their dog(s), which I think is a form of animal cruelty. This is a whole video of just letting a dog be her beautiful self and I salute you for it!
Beautiful dog!!! I can’t stop smiling❤️
OH MY GOD - tears welling up here. We had a rescued ex- racing greyhound (Millie) and she did the exact same things as Fairy! Bless you -ALL ANIMALS should be treated with love, respect and be free!!! Xo
Makes me happy to watch her run. Relieved to know she’ s so solid on recalls.
She loved this! What a beautiful beach. It's so funny when they taste salt water for the first time. So much water and not a drop to drink. Did you bring fresh water with you? She must have been thirsty after all that running. I noticed she kept trying to drink the salt water.
I was wondering the same thing.
I was thinking the same thing after running a marathon fresh water is crucial
Same!!
I wondered same-i bet she brought some with her
It’s obvious the dog is very thirsty after all that running. Didn’t think to bring her water?
Thank you letting Fairy be exactly what she is, a free loving dog. Letting her know that this is what life is and the life in her past is not normal life.
Such a joy to see her run! I bet she slept well that night! 🤣
❤️
What a beautiful dog, so nice to see such pure happiness
OH my goodness, this is REALLY spectacular. Your baby is a dancing marvel and so happy that you shared this terrific and joyful time. Those circles, that is the orbit she maintains to keep you in her sights.
We rescue Greyhounds. They are the sweetest dogs ever. Brilliant with children and the elderly because they are SO laid back! Wonderful to see this beautiful grey girl running for sheer pleasure. ❤
She has the prettiest eyes and the sweetest smile.
Awhhhh! Lovie ! Yessss! This is what dogs need to do :-) What a lovely beach. I take a Whistle too, just incase my voice isn’t loud enough. And some fresh drinking water / bowl.
Why do you just assume that she didn't bring fresh water
@teresadasilva8773 maybe because the dog kept drinking the ocean water. Seemed thirsty. Never saw it given water while out there. Or maybe the comment was only stating they bring water when they go.
@@teresadasilva8773 Who is "assuming"? I merely said, that is what I take with me.
That's exactly what I thought! Hope they bring fresh water with them for the dog!
I love that you give her that total, secure freedom. I could almost feel her excitement.😊
Glad she has a Mom like you. Fantastic to see her joyful running and playing.
She looks SO happy and excited. !!! ❤❤😊 Such a pleasure to see this !!🎉
I love watching a big dog run!
So fun to watch. The next time you go to that beach be sure to bring a gallon of fresh water and a bowl.
You are such a good puppy Mom, you can just see how she loves you. She will come back to her Mom. Rescues always know who their people are! Look at her run! Thank you for giving her a new special life. This is so good for her to run like the wind ❤❤❤❤
PS. She LOVES the beach!!
Did you bring water for her?
It's the best place for them to run.❤
How glorious to see her run in freedom and with joy! It made my heart happy to watch your beautiful girl.
A wonderful sight! Running free, enjoying the wind, the sea, the smells, digging, splashing loving life to the full❤
Thank You kind soul for the joy you have given this beautiful being and to all of us.
Pure Joy. Thank you for posting this. That is one beautiful dog. Watching her run brought tears to my eyes. I can't run fast anymore since I'm nearly 70 but I could feel her energy and exhilaration. What a pleasure. Thank you!
Greyhounds are pure joy inside and out, so very grateful she's free & with you! 😍🙏💞
I have rescued a few greyhounds they are the most beautiful loving dogs ever, she’s beautiful I hope she has a long and happy retirement with you. God bless you for saving her. ❤❤❤
I'm loving seeing the pup having such a good time. Free to run and dig, than a warm coat and a slap up breakfast for all concerned.
Beautiful dog beautiful owners and beautiful beach ❤
She runs like a cheetah. She was made for it! She’ll always come back. Let her let loose sometimes! It brings me joy to watch this. Thanks for sharing!❤
How wonderful it was to see Fairy enjoying the beach! Her true happiness was contagious!❤
I cannot stop smiling at this beautiful bouncy dog having the time of her life, thank you for sharing❤❤❤
Wow!!!! She is absolutely having a ball. Very cute. She sure figured out how to get cooled down quickly by digging a hole.
What a beautiful looking dog!! Fast as lightning, all power and muscles, i could watch her all day! Thanks!!
Oh my goodness, that face! ❤ I love her face when she's holding her ears way back and those big round eyes. So darn cute!
She looks like she is finally having a awesome day doing what she was bred for, but no stress as to meet any expectations from anyone.
What a beautiful animal! Her gate is not only incredible but elegant as well. It so wonderful to see she is having an incredible retirement with a loving family. So many of the dogs do not survive being racing dogs. I wish many more years of shear happiness and health to Fairy.
What a fabulous beach! And so few people! Wonderful to see her running with happiness👍♥️🇨🇦
This is a typical British beach. Huge and almost deserted apart from Dog's having a fun day out. Perfect for a Greyhound. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
6:45 - She doesn't like salty water .... Looks at her owner as if to say; "What is this ?".
She is absolutely exquisite. I have never seen a happier Greyhound in my life, and I can't think of anything better for a dog like her. What a beautiful life you are giving her. ❤
ahhh Thx .. great fun ‘n freedom well cared for beautiful girl but maybe should have fresh water on beach ,)
My Wife and I enjoyed your video and so did our dog, she watched intently and barked occasionally , the dog that is.
That is one happy, happy excited little girl. I am so pleased to have shared that moment with you and her. She looked like she couldn’t believe how lucky she was! She is so beautiful as well
I thoroughly enjoyed this with a big smile on my face the whole time. She is beautiful.
The happiest of sights - your dog running free and then running back to you.
Beautiful! You can tell as she begins to run that she’s keeping an eye on you with every intent to return. GREAT bonding with this pup! Many dogs will just run as far and as fast as they can….mindless straight line. Lucky girl! She’s gorgeous.
❤
Right. She circled instead of running straight away
She’s like…I don’t know what this place is but I LOVE it! Haha
An Absolute Sweetheart… Bless you for saving her…
If a dog feels loved, cared for, and able to do their "job," they'll always come back. Fairy was bred to run, so running is her job. Great to see you letting her "do her thing." She looks happy. Good job!
I don't think that there is anything as beautiful as a greyhound running free and at her own pace on a lovely stretch of beach makes my heart melt every time😁😁😁
This made me smile. Her happy jumps brought tears to my eyes. So lovely to see her having fun.
She’s very classy looking. Needs a pearl necklace with lots of strands!! What a sweet girl!! Fast as all HELL! ❤
Also, I love when dogs get rescued and adopted by someone like you, giving them a wonderful life!
Amen my friend
She is lucky to have you and you are lucky to have her. To see Fairy running WFO across the beach was absolutely beautiful, poetry in motion.
After those runs, she needs water..... but not the salty ocean water. A jug of water and a bowl would be nice.....
